I'm not sure why this restaurant doesn't have ratings closer to 5. I throughly enjoyed the food here. Very generous portions of meat, unadulterated broths, and simple yet solid sides. We ordered gamjatang, somori (beef cheeks) gukbap, & sul guk (assorted pig parts). The meat cuts were on point. They don't taste like MSG to me. The place was packed for a weekday lunch. Service was good. Nothing to complain about. It was a plain decor but not outdated. The only regret I had was I didn't have time to take photos. read more

We were really craving Korean soup and this place was on the list. It's located near the industrial area so I was surprised it was tucked away in a non restaurant area. The ambiance was nothing spectacular. There aren't too many seats, however, food comes fairly quick. The service was great. They refilled water often and were very friendly. We ordered Seolleong Tang for the kids which they really enjoyed. Lots of protein and the soup was flavorful. We ordered the Gamja Tang and Budae Jjigae. The Gamja Tang which had a lot of big bones with lots of meat. The Budae had tons of flavor in the broth. The food here is amazing! While there aren't many things on the menu, everything they made was tasty and made right. I highly recommend this place if you're craving for soup. read more

My new favorite Korean restaurant for humble, comforting soups. You wouldn't know it arriving here - the outside looks like an unassuming office building. But inside it's sprawling with life. Most importantly, the locals that dine here are all Korean families. That's how you know it's good! They're known for their Gamjatang (Pork Neck potato soup). Now this is not your average Gamjatang.... theirs is bursting out the cauldron haha almost looks like a pork mountain! The best part is, all that meat was only $16. INSANE. $16 in this economy? I don't know how they do it for that price, but I'm not complaining. I almost want to gate keep this one because I'm scared the humble price will go up haha but they deserve their flowers. read more

The banchan tasted great here. I was obsessed with the kimchi! It was flavorful, not too spicy, and on the fresher side. I ordered the seollangtang with cabbage and although I really enjoyed the broth, I was not impressed by the brisket. It was much too thick, had a smell of old meat, and tasted chewy...like it needed to be cooked many more hours. This place offers authentic Korean food and it was packed when we visited for lunch on a weekend. I had Budae Jjigae which is like a spicy ramen with some sausages, ham, and vegetables. If you are not sure what to get from the menu, I highly recommend this dish. It's like an upgraded version of shin ramen with much more flavor. I would say their menu is relatively small, however, they are more focused on homestyle dishes that are hard to find at majority of other Korean restaurants. It does have a family owned vibe and I liked it. My only concern was that the servers were pretty busy taking orders, cleaning up and they didn't really check the table regularly so that we had to really try and ask to get the water refilled. I used to come here often with my family as a kid. I've tried many of their dishes including the bulgogi bibimbap, soondae bokkeum, and seollungtang. For the gamjatang, it was a very large portion with quality meat that slid off the bone. The broth on a cold winter day was perfect. I love that I can get a home-cooked Korean meal at this restaurant. I also love their side dishes and will go through several refills. The restaurant itself is a bit on the smaller side and does not have too many seating, but I have never had trouble being seated in a reasonable time. This place has recently gained popularity so the prices have gone up, but still worth trying for anyone interested in Korean soup dishes! read more

Also note, they close pretty early at 7:30PM. Interior has a good amount of tables, but they're fairly close to one another, but not bad since the food comes out very quickly. FOOD: ~Soondae (4/5): not the best soondae I've ever had, but still a solid choice. The flavor was more mild, but when using the salt or sawoojjut, it was pretty tasty ~Jokbal (4.5/5): The portion was HUGE! And it was so soft and flavorful. I like that they give you all the pieces of the hock and not just the the cut part ~Gam Ja Tang (4/5): you get a huge portion of the pork which was very tender. I visited here based on a recommendation from another Korean restaurant that was more for couples (BBQ where you paid for 2 even if there was just 1). This place seemed very authentic Korean since the customers did not appear to be new to the food and the dishes were not that "mainstream" for those who weren't familiar with them. I enjoyed the side dishes and barley tea. After much contemplation, I went with the Seolleong tang (beef brisket soup). It was very mild spicy-wise, which was great for me. I brought back the leftovers but unfortunately did not get a chance to eat it before hopping back on the plane back home: I look forward to returning at my next opportunity to do so. read more

With salt is better which they have on the table but was already pretty tasty, sweet, and meaty on its own. They pack the soup with a lot of cabbage and meat! I love the taste of boiled cabbage so I was super happy. Meat was decent, kinda dry but it usually is like that in this soup unfortunately. Wooguhju seolleong tang (sliced briskets in beef broth) was delicious, flavorful, and veryyyy filling. It came with lots of boiled cabbage and meat, which I really appreciated. The meat could've been a bit softer/more tender though. I also tried a friend's Gamja Tang (pork neckbone), and it was very flavorful. This place was highly recommended by a coworker, and let me tell, it certainly didn't disappoint! Ko Hyang is a relatively small and intimate restaurant, but also very cozy and casual. Before this restaurant became really popular, you can get seated right away, but now, you may need to wait for ~15-20 minutes to get seated during the weekend. But their service is amazing, and super fast, so once you're seated everything is smooth sailing from there :) Food is always amazing whenever I visit, and their serving sizes are no joke! I'm surprised that a lot of people would go out and eat hot soup like this! This was first sign that I'd enjoy my dish here! Good service as they're very attentive to our table. We ordered a bunch of dishes and one to share. The restaurant was in a slightly industrial area, which surprised me. Was kinda odd for me, but that's not important. FYI, they have parking designated for their building - C. They have signs inside to not park in undesignated areas (specifically A) as your car WILL be towed. The staff were very friendly and our server was very knowledgeable of all the available dishes. My husband liked the gamjatang soup he got, but was disappointed that he didn't get any veggies, which is usually included with other restaurants. That kinda took away from him fully enjoying his soup. If you don't want that to happen, make sure to order a soup with the cabbage and ask for spicy. I got the army stew, which was good. Only thing I would've added was the rice cakes. My parents enjoyed their dishes enough to be satisfied with their meals. 4.5* We ordered take out tonight as many of our family members are a bit under the weather. Ordered 1 jokbal, 4 seolleongtang, and 1 budae jjigae. Everything had plentiful portions and I almost inhaled my budaejjigae under 5 minutes. There was a good amount of sausage, tofu, kimchi. It was missing the ramen but still delicious nevertheless. The jokbal was huge and I'm honestly wondering how they slice it so thin. My it comes with ssamjjang, garlic, peppers, napa cabbage to wrap. I do wish the cabbage was wilted/salted or steamed so it's the soft kind of cabbage to wrap but the fresh napa was a different experience that added a layer of texture and crunch which I enjoyed. The seolleongtang is hearty and filled to the brim with brisket and if I'm ever under the weather, I'll definitely pick up one of these and feel right as rain. When we were done, it got super packed. The place looks very bare - it just looks like they rented a random spot. An excellent restaurant owned by a sweet korean family! It may be a bit difficult to locate on the outside, but they are open and serving :) Beware they are closed on Sundays and Mondays! Their menu isn't super extensive but their soups are fantastic! Very filling (they are generous with their portions) and really hits the spot when you're looking for something hearty. I recommend the gamjatang and wooguji sullongtang (both are a bit spicy, fyi! for those of u trying korean food for the first time) It's a bit far from me now but i still go out of my way to have this when i need a good hearty, home-cooked feelin meal :) read more

This place used to be great--until the OWNERSHIP changed. Ever since, the food has become noticeably saltier, and the service has gone downhill fast. One major issue I want to highlight is the attitude of the owner and the Mexican waiter. They seem completely indifferent to the customers need and don't make the slightest effort to provide them..!! The final straw for me was when my little girl asked for iced barley tea. They already serve it hot when you sit down--for FREE--all they had to do was pour it over ice. But NO! They refused. Claimed they "didn't have ice barley tea" .. REALLY ... ?? It's barley tea. With ice. In a cup. Not rocket science. The service was terrible, the food overly salty and loaded with MSG, and to top it off, after all that, the owner actually ran after me when I didn't leave a tip. Let me be very clear: TIPs are earned, not OWED. They're not mandatory, and they're certainly not a customer should feel pressured into giving--especially when service and food is this bad. "Dear Owner," a tip reflects the service provided. If you want tips, provide better service. It's that simple. These people think tip is something that we have to be responsible for as a customer..!! I don't think soooooooo!!!! You give BAD SERVICE ... NO!! TIP !! My hard earned MONEY and will do what ever I want ! Their soup were delicious. We ordered sundae and bone beef soup. I'm definitely not a fan of sundae but this place changed my mind. The sundae doesn't taste like gammy. The intestines were good ( got a little dipping salt with it). The soup was amazing. First I don't get used to the part with no salt in the soup but I don't mind adding salty shrimp and salt into my soup. They offer salty shrimp, salt, red pepper flakes aside for customers to mix it in the soup. Service was nice. It was definitely getting busy during dinner time so we had to actually go up and ask for a check and container to go but I don't mind. Seeing how busy and pack the restaurant is I can cut it some slack The place is quite nice and clean. Good evening for over 10 tables. Definitely recommend it if anyone is looking for a soup place. This place was really a surprise. I was visiting the air and space center and needed some Korean food. Decided to check it out since it was close by. It's in a strip mall of sorts not really in an area where other restaurants are. A very unassuming place. But you can tell the food was going to be good when all the seats were nearly full at 11:30am. We ordered a few dishes. My kid ordered Gam Ja Tang which is made with the spine of the pork and potatoes. The soup was great and they give you a mountain of meat. I got the blood sausage soup and my wife got the squid rice bowl. Food was unquestionably tasty. The best thing is that they don't make it too salty either. Which is great cause most soup places just dump the sodium and it just ends up tasting like the ocean. Service is quick and by the time we were about to leave there was a line out the door. I think for the price this place can't be beat. We ordered some blood sausage (soon dae) and jok bal to go. We will definitely be back when we come through the area! read more

This soup was exactly what I needed on a cold winter day! I like that with seol leong tang, I can adjust the saltiness of the soup myself. The beef was also very tender and I love the clear noodles that come in the soup. It is also surprisingly filling! It's been a while since I've been here and their menu shrunk quite a bit but they kept their best dishes (this and be gamja tang). Their side dishes are also very good. My recommendation for the newbies is the Dolsot dishes which are rice stir fried with vegetables and beef, octopus, or tofu. My favorite is Gamja Tang which is pork neck.
