This is a great kbbq place in Centreville! I came with my family on Christmas Eve and it was packed, but we had a reservation so we were seated quickly. We got the AYCE option B, which had a few more choices than option A such as squid, octopus, shrimp, and galbi. If you want to go with option B for AYCE, keep in mind that you can only get one order galbi per person. We also ordered a few drinks, such as kiwi yuzu lemonade and the pear bear mocktail. Both drinks were really good, not too sweet with a nice fruit flavor. The meats were very fresh and flavorful. We ordered a wide variety such as brisket, galbi, steak, pork belly, bulgogi, shrimp, and octopus. My favorite was the pork belly even though I usually don't like pork belly as much as other kbbq meats. The pork belly at So was not too fatty, yet had a decadent, rich flavor. I also like that you have the option of choosing whether you want to cook the meat yourself or have a server grill for you. We opted to have the server cook for us and everything turned out great! It's been about 6 years since I was last here and the prices have definitely increased since then, but it's still well-worth the price! The meats are cut fresh and are of high quality. The service is always great! Their sides are excellent as well. They also have a nice list, though a small one of sake. We thoroughly enjoyed this most recent visit for dinner! OMG we had such a lovely night here. And all the hanging greenery was so cute. The meat and pickled veggies--especially the squash and radishes!--just MELTED in your mouth. I could not stop eating bulgogi. And the curry chicken and shrimp were both delicious. My cocktail, the Juniper Bloom, was refreshing and light but with solid flavor--I got two! Update: I came back after a year and a half. Their service changed so much. Disappointed with their service to auto refill water, requests for extra side dishes and plates. Was mistakenly charged for an extra meal $29, waiters forgot multiple times for said requests, and upon seating to a clean table, it was sticky (chairs and cups). My kids and my arms got sticky. Other than that, they knew to at least stir the meat and cut them up, like its second nature to them. Their quality of meat were still good. I despise complaining, I tried to give any restaurants the benefit of the doubt.. but there were so many instances here, I had to knock off two stars. Looking back, let them know far in advance what drinks, how many drinks, how many extra plates, ask for a pitcher of water, maybe set up expectations. It's been over a year since I've last been here. It was a good place to go to if you're getting AYCE. I went again as I missed the Herb Pork Belly they used to serve. It's no longer on the menu. It's okay though. The curry pork belly actually made up for that and became a top item to get on the menu. Specifically that dish was great as the meat was soft and tender. The curry gave it a sweet touch on top of that. The cuts of meat was still good as ever. My issue is the service I've received. I made reservations for 5 people and when I got there, they lead us to the table and only gave us 4 sets of plates and sauces. I've had to requested an additional set and drink. It's not a big issue at all. But It's been a long time since I've been here. I've asked for the silverware and the server pointed out it was in a drawer. I feel like the server just thinks we know what to do. He wasn't very nice and neglected the table. I'm assuming as the 20% tip was already included, he didn't bother to take care of us as much. We had to ask for extra sauce for the table and only refilled 3 out of the 5 sauces. We also had him come to our table to turn down or off our grill and another girl kept turning it on. We chose the Option A, the basic level with $35 per person which is more expensive than other Korean BBQ AYCE restaurant's basic level. It only includes three beef items and the rest are chicken and pork items. To get shrimp, squid, short rib, octopus, or intestines, you need to upgrade to Option B, which is $40 per person. The food quality is good, and the servers will help you to cook the food. They are good. The environment is clean and very open. Chadol (brisket) was alright, a little thicker so it was somewhat chewy. The curry chicken was a table favorite was were the beef and pork bulgogi. The kimchi was also superb! The portions were very big for the 4 of us so suggestions asking for less to start with as to not waste food. The chairs were super uncomfortable. Low to the ground and the backrest was also very low. My one friend said they do this on purpose at all you can eat spots to make folks uncomfortable so they don't stay too long. Parking is cozy, and consistently packed! There are a lot of great places to eat at this shopping center so expect a lot of traffic. If you're driving something nice I'd recommend parking further away from the restaurant. The staff are phenomenal! Four of us had lunch on a Saturday at 1pm. We ordered the soy garlic chicken, beef bulgogi, beef large intestine, seafood pancake, and dolsot beef bibimbap. The meal included the banchan side dishes (a good variety of 7 types), and complimentary small steamed egg bowl and small doenjang jjigae (soybean soup) which are usually included at Korean BBQ restaurants when you order main dishes. The meat was grilled at the table by one of the hosts. The chicken and beef were really tasty and I recommend them both. They each came with two large slices of onion, so if you don't like a lot of onion mixed in, you should set one or both of those aside. I did not try the intestine, but my dining partner said it was quite good. I don't have a picture of the cooked results of this, but it reduced quite a bit and came out to kind of a small portion. The bibimbap was good and the stone pot came out hot enough to crisp the rice a little on the bottom and cook the added egg. The large seafood pancake was massive. If there are three or fewer of you at the table, I recommend the small size unless you all know you want extra helpings of this. It was very thick and came jam packed with squid and shrimp. The selection of banchan was varied and quite tasty. It included potato salad (very smooth rather than chunky), sour pickled radish/onions/chili peppers, traditional cabbage (baechu) kimchi, a light and mild cabbage/onion/carrot slaw, thin-sliced pink pickled radish (ssam mu), mung bean sprouts, and a seaweed. We got a complimentary cup of sikhye at the end of the meal. It was tasty and refreshing, but I would have liked more bits of rice in mine. Service was prompt and attentive. Including tax, the price per person was the same as if we had ordered the AYCE menu Option A. But not all of us are big meat eaters so the AYCE option wasn't worth it. For the same price, we all still filled up and had a little more variety. Of course, if you go into this place with some serious carnivore buddies, then yeah, go for the AYCE option and go crazy. This is hands-down one of my favorite Korean BBQ restaurants, and our most recent visit was for my husband's birthday. We did AYCE and were not disappointed. Bulgogi was a highlight, flavorful and not too chewy. The banchan were fresh and plentiful, and we loved the extras like the soup and steamed egg. What really sets this place apart is the vibe. Modern, clean, and kind of hip without being pretentious. Unlike other KBBQ spots that can get loud and chaotic, this one feels more curated and calm. Our server was super attentive. Respectful, refilling sides, and swapping out the grill quickly. He was very eager to help with the grilling, even though we had our coaster turned on the side that says we can grill it ourselves. Really appreciated the service, but part of the fun is cooking yourself! It would've been nice to be a little more hands-on, especially since we were celebrating. They brought out a Choco Pie at the end for my husband, and one of the other servers added a candle to it, which was very sweet! Been going here since my days of residing in VA and even though I'm out of state, I always make an attempt to dine here whenever I'm passing through! Recently came back after being away for over a year and things were mostly the same besides minor interior decor changes; place still looks amazing. The menu is the same but the QR code and template got a nice update making it look more modernized. I always go with the Option A and just bulk order the chadol bakgi. The waiter or waitress usually cooks for me and I ask him or her to just make it a little crispy; seriously so good. I've tried their Galbi and it's pretty tender, but I end up order option A majority of the times. The side dishes are decent and their kimchi has a nice kick to it and pretty fresh. They can get very busy during lunch or dinner hours so I recommend swinging by at 11am when they open unless you book an appointment. Highly recommend! read more

Visiting Nova from Seattle and So Kbbq was my first stop. Came towards the end of the night and got the all you can eat option with a couple friends. Quality of the meat was good, service was friendly and quick. My friends told me that there can be a decent wait during the peak service times. We came around 9pm so we didn't have any issues. Plenty of parking outside. Got the chadol and the samgyupsal and we literally just rotated between these two meats and occasional ordered something marinated. Lots of side dishes on the side. You can also order the steam egg and the doenjang-jjigae and cheese corn too (we did). Price wasn't too bad. I think it's $35 for acye option A. There is an acye option B that includes kalbi but we didn't get that this time. Inside the place was nice and clean. Lots of tables and grills. Definitely would come back again read more

Came to Sō for dinner with a party of nine to celebrate my friend's birthday after hearing good things about the restaurant. As someone who's been to many KBBQ spots in the DMV, this one honestly ranks near the bottom for me. The meat options were pretty basic and lacked flavor, and the side dishes didn't stand out either. Service was fine, nothing special, but nothing terrible. What really ruined the experience was how the situation with our check was handled. Our table ordered six drinks total (three lychee martinis, one mocktail, and two pear bears), but we were charged for seven. When we told our server, he went to check and came back with another staff member who insisted it was "impossible to make a drink without a ticket." Understandable, but there were literally only six glasses on our table. They left again and later returned saying they reviewed the cameras and claimed we did get the drink, which we absolutely did not. By this point, it was late, the restaurant had already closed, and all we wanted to do was pay and leave. We asked them to show us who supposedly received the extra drink, but they couldn't. Eventually, they agreed to remove the extra drink from the check but the entire back and forth made us uncomfortable. Even after that, we had to wait even longer to actually pay. I really don't like feeling like a hostage in a restaurant. They're lucky gratuity was automatically included, because otherwise they would've gotten 10% at most. Not sure if the attitude we received was racially motivated, but either way, I'd say save your money and your time. read more

First, let's start off by saying this place is super cute. When I walked in, I was immediately impressed with the decor. Additionally, it was very spacious. As it relates to the service, it is pretty good. Upon entry, we were greeted and immediately seated. Then our waiter, for the most part, was very timely. On to our dishes. We opted for the all you can eat option (Option A) with the waiter preparing our food. The portions were of course very generous, however, the food was lacking flavor and or the usual oomph, taste wise, that I have gotten with all my other Korean BBQ experiences, which was a huge let down for me. There's a reason Sō made the list of top KBBQ restaurants in all of the US. They have top notch meats, a variety of menu options, and a large, modern interior. The main draw for me is the AYCE combos, A for $35 or B for $40. B adds in a few higher end cuts and seafood, but you can only get 1 order of galbi per person (booo). A is more than enough for me, so I just stick with that. They have a nice selection of banchan, and they have some of the best pickled radish in the game. There's not much to say about the meats, except that they're high quality and delicious! They have 3 sauces available: a sweet plum sauce, a spicy gochujang-like sauce, and what I think is salt and butter. I personally like the plum sauce since it contrasts very well with the savory meat. After hearing rave reviews from family and friends, I decided to give this spot a shot! They're located off Route 29-Lee Hwy. We came in to check out their best cuts of meat and see what this Korean BBQ joint had in store. The restaurant itself is split into a dining area, waiting area, and bar. As for the table layout? Not my favorite. It works for the staff, I guess, but that's about it. For food, we ordered the meat plate for two, which came to $92. The platter included beef brisket, bulgogi, short ribs, and two types of steak. Definitely more than enough food for two people. My husband and I thought the meat quality was solid, and the sides? Delicious. Extra points to our waiter for juggling all of us, even though the place was packed and clearly understaffed. There are a bunch of great spots in the plaza, so I might swing by again for the side dishes, but they need to level up the flavors a bit. We came here for xmas lunch with my family and my bf on 12/25/2024, and I'm thankful Sō was open (since a majority of us were working all week, and unable to cook). First off, I hadn't been back to Sō in a few years before this. Why? Simply because I live further from Centreville now, but let me tell you it's well worth the distance and drive!!!!! We were immediately greeted and seated. The ban chan side dishes were already out for the 4 of us. We were able to order and receive all the meats we wanted in AYCE with no rush, no impatience and just full of excellent service and kindness. Shoutout to JUSTIN our server!! He was amazing. We really enjoyed chatting with him, and he was so helpful, efficient, and friendly. Whatever we needed, Justin and the staff anticipated. The side dishes were refilled with plenty of food, our waters refilled frequently when necessary, and the different servers who also lent a hand like Jonathan and a female server we didn't catch her name, were great and fast too. Overall, I was observing the staff including kitchen staff, cleaning crew, food dashers, servers -- everyone worked seamlessly and well together to make our dining experience excellent! You can tell the Sō team cares. Overall, my bf commented "this is the best service we've ever recieved at a korean bbq restaurant", and I agreed 100%. The decor was very cute and nicely done for the holiday season. I really enjoy seeing their tree and lights. Good Korean BBQ is not limited to Annandale, Centreville has a great AYCE location and its truly awesome. From the meats, seafood, ban chan, drink selection, and service, I have not had a similar experience elsewhere. For your AYCE experience, recommend the "B" option which includes "A" plus other delicacies such as So kalbi (marinated short ribs - limited to only one order per person), rib eye steak (soy garlic sesame seed marinate - we had a few orders), shrimp, and a whole selection of the usual Korean BBQ delicacies. It's a bit more costly, but so worth it. The selections and quality of items are top notch. To make it even better, you have a selection to either cook yourself or have the staff cook for you - select the latter. They are attentive and quick to grill your selected items and change the grill often as it quickly gets dirty. In addition to the great selection of items to grill and service, there is a great selection of beer (Japanese, American on tap), soju, and cocktails. My buddy ordered a soju cocktail consisting of soju, yogurt and a splash of Sprite. Don't know what it's called, but it was too easy to drink! A great Korean AYCE with a great selection of items to grill, adult beverages, and service, it's a combination that is hard to beat in Centreville. Check it out! Got the AYCE option A and it was a pretty substantial variety of choices for meat. They ran out of seaweed and a lot of other bon chon, so that was pretty disappointing. The pickled radish paper helps cut the fattiness of the meats. We did flip the coaster to minimize server interaction but the server still tried to help us grill our meat. I appreciate the attempt to help, but that's not the point of the coaster Overall, it's a pretty standard KBBQ place, and is one of the better places around here. The overall meat quality/marinades don't do it for me. We ordered a variety of pork. The pork was so chewy and the marinade made me feel like I'm going to throw up. I wasn't too pleased. The beef bulgogi was okay, the brisket was okay. The banchans were okay. I do love that they are the only KBBQ spot with the Korean potato salad and it's DELICIOUS. This was my second time trying Sō and it's a pretty good place to get AYCE kbbq. I personally usually don't prefer getting AYCE kbbq, but this is a pretty good place for that. It's a pretty large space inside, employees are mostly friendly. We came in at about 4:10PM and waited around ~20 minutes to be seated. Once it hit 5-6PM, the place started filling up quickly. I think our waitress was fairly new and she kept coming by and changing our grill heat settings even though we told her we'd grill on our own. Another waiter came by after awhile and started taking care of us, since we kept having to wait on our original waitress. Our table went with Option A and the quality of the meat is pretty good, really liked the garlic pork belly! The chadol beef brisket isn't the best, but still good nonetheless.
