I have made several trips to this location. The first was a very long wait for service, with no one in front of us. Chicken salad had a very small amount of chicken, maybe 3 bite size pieces and it had a strange taste. 2nd visit I was the only person at the counter and not acknowledged for 5 minutes so I left. I had been waiting to try this place for a while and I can at least say that the cookies are good. So why the one star? Well that would be the service, while most places with this type of setup will take your cookie order and then ring you up our person made us tell her our order from the register. This really wouldn't be a problem if the register was right next to the cookies but it was over 6 feet away. I don't really understand what her issue was just grabbing cookies. Still not really worth a one star, that being said it was the next action that hurt. She had started to grab other orders which I understand but then a costumer came up to the register and she proceeded to take the ladies order with her gloves on and then proceeded to grab other hot food orders without changing her gloves. Ok we have been going here for several years and the food is always delicious. That's why I have given them two stars BUT because we are people who like to laugh we are playing a game when we order online now. We all guess how badly they will mess up the order THIS TIME. Honestly, they NEVER get an order right and don't order anything complicated because you will definitely get a wrong order! We ordered a salad with extra meat, no bacon or avocado and we got the salad as on the menu. We're not sure if it's a reading issue or what. We did, however, get the up charge for the extra meat. So we placed an online order. My man ordered a sandwich, two large drinks; I'm sick so I just ordered a bowl of soup and he also ordered a bowl of soup. Thirty dollars. We go in to pick up our food and we are missing a drink. This dumb little woman with black hair and glasses cops an attitude out of nowhere. My man says "oh, uh we had two drinks" she says "no you don't" he said "yes, I ordered two." She says "how about you show me where it says you ordered two drinks then?" He pulls out the receipt and points at the two spots. She "laughs" it off and tells us that she's new and she shouldn't even being preparing mobile orders. Wtf does that even mean? Right before we leave I say let's check the bag. Only one soup. We go to the register and tell her. She looks at my man and says "well how about you show me again since you're so good at it??" I like the soups here, but that's about it. The pastries and sandwiches are ok, but really nothing to write home about. Sure, the bread is always fresh, but they're just a bit on the boring side: I can make the same at home. The people at this location have been consistently friendly, and the soup selection is good. Their tea vats and coffee jugs have always been full when I have needed them. All of that is great and enough to be worth a solid 3 stars, but that doesn't make up for the food being mostly boring. They have an all-you-can-eat French toast breakfast deal ... good to know if you're into that kind of thing. read more

This is located on a nice area if Mesa. When you drive in, you're really on the back side of the building. So, drive around and you'll find the front door. They have a nice assortment of breads and pastries for sale when you walk in. We had a couple of different sandwiches that were really good! I had the chicken salad on a croissant... delicious. I also ordered it as a combo #3... chips, soda and a $2.99 dessert (I got the eclair). This chain reminds me of the Corner Bakery chain in L.A., overall they're both very good. read more

Ridiculous business practices here. We wanted soup at 6 pm on a Friday and there was none on the website when there was 5 different soups an hour earlier. We called and they said they were out. Bread is always good however 4 out of 5 times when I make a special trip here (early evening) they are out of the sourdough bread I was after. They need someone who can manage the needs of their customers better because the current person tasked with this duty isn't handling the job well. I Tried ordering curbside pickup here & was forgotten about twice. I had to go in and pickup my food it was never brought out. Whoever I talked to on the phone would straight up lie to me saying "it will be out shortly" but when I went inside the ladies acted like my order wasn't a curbside? Oh no! I have to update this review, because the quality has slipped. My first visit was when they had just opened up for business so they must have been on their best behavior. I ordered the French Dip again, and was disappointed to have hard, tough bread. They also skimped on the meat, which was okay since the meat was dry and charred on the edges. I ordered a grilled cheese and a cup of tomato soup. The girl taking the order was clueless. I had to repeat my order probably 6 times. Grilled cheese was gross bc there was barely any cheese on it. When my friends lunch came which included a cup of soup along with her sandwich, I got the same size, a cup of soup. When I questioned is this a bowl of soup and she said "no we ran out of bowls so I gave you a cup". I said so I'm paying for a bowl of soup and I get a cup and she said well I guess I could give you another cup to go with it. I was shocked that they would even attempt to do this to a customer. That wasn't all. A slice of bread was supposed to come with my soup and I told her I did not care for sourdough and I would take the white bread. She brought me sourdough. I visited the Kneaders on 8/12/19, at 6611 E. McDowell Rd in Mesa. I ordered my food at 6:42pm in the drive-thru. I know this because I texted my friend about my order (Chicken salad croissant, soup, drink and an éclair) and she asked me about the sandwich. There were 2 cars in front of me and it took 18 minutes for someone to greet me at the window. The service was SO slow, the car directly in front of me left without their order. Wanting to help, I told Kyler (the manager on site) that I wasn't the ham sandwich and that the customer in the white car in front of me left. He took my card, but not without repeating back the WRONG soup. I know this because I specifically asked the GIRL who took my order if the Roasted Red Pepper Gouda soup was any good, and she enthusiastically said yes. It didn't hit me until I was down the road that he didn't mention my éclair. I checked my bag & NO éclair! That is the main reason I go to Kneaders (as Sierra, a manager will tell you, I'm very fond of the éclairs there). I come back & go in side (not wanting to waste another 18 minutes in the drive-thru) and Kyler greeted me. I told him I was VERY upset - I waited for SUCH a long time in line to get my food after a long day and to discover my order was incomplete, with no éclair, was just the final straw. He apologized (unconvincingly) and then started to get one. Then he said, in a somewhat snarky tone, that they always repeat the order back and that I wasn't charged for it. I told him that they got my soup wrong, so maybe it's not ME, but them that was mistaken. At this point, I had invested over 1/2 hour and still no dinner and I felt fairly disrespected by Kyler who didn't seem to understand how upset I was. I told him I wanted my money back. As hungry as I was, I was willing to go somewhere else. I had to go back out to my car & get my debit card. At no time did Kyler attempt to make the situation better with any attempt at saving me as a customer. I have worked in restaurants, drive-thrus and more and I know that making an upset customer happy can be a game changer. I personally wouldn't have said the snarky comment about repeating the order, etc. I would have just given the éclair and probably one extra for the wait, the trip back, and the inconvenience. I KNOW I ordered the éclair and the girl who took my order repeated it back. Maybe when she changed my order to a combo, she forgot to put it in. As I mentioned, they messed up my soup too! I know they were short staffed and I know what that's like. When I got to the window, I wasn't even mad, just tired of waiting. The part that really upset me was Kyler's unwillingness to make it right. That's a problem. There are too many other places to go for someone to treat a customer like they're disposable. This is not the first time they have taken "forever" or the first time they've messed up my order. The food here is good, but I'll never go back again. read more

Great place! Food and service were prompt. Ordered the Southwest BBQ Chicken salad and it was one of the BEST I have ever had. The full size salad was plentiful with lots of great ingredients; even had enough chicken for the entire salad. The only bummer about the salad is that bread doesn't come with it. The only reason this wasn't five stars is that the booths had not been bussed at this restaurant and the drink station was unkempt (ice tea was HOT and immediately melted any ice making it watery and undrinkable). Also, we originally were told that salads come with bread - although the one we ordered did not apparently because of the tortilla strips (we had to go back to order bread separately because we were told incorrectly). read more

I ordered broccoli cheese soup in a bread bowl and I've never had such stale, dried out sourdough. Not even warming it up could save it. My husband's muffuletta Italian sandwich was swimming in oil and had no flavor. The final straw was the gingerbread man cookie. I took one bite and after a couple of chews, threw it out!! I can't even describe how it does NOT taste like gingerbread or what it was composed of by that point. We took our good to go and honestly, it wasn't worth driving back to get it fixed. Not surprised to see this location has such bad reviews. They have horrible customer service. I live 20 minutes away, but drove all the way here to get their Chicken a la Mondo salad at the drive-thru. When I got home, THERE WAS NO SALAD DRESSING or the side-order of bread. The salad dressing is part of what makes the salad so delicious. You better believe I drove all the way back for the stupid salad dressing. And then the most I got out of them was, "Sorry." I want to like this Kneaders because when I lived in Utah the kneaders there was great. This one is hit and miss, and today it was a miss. I use to buy their half salad of turkey and bacon and was very pleased with it but they informed me that now they only have 1 size so I ordered it (9.50). There was hardly any turkey at all! Very skimpy with toppings which is a let down because of the price, salad n go you get a lot more for $7. And the half salad they use to have you would get a lot more toppings for cheaper. Ok next item was the chicken salad sandwich, and that was also a let down. It tasted off, like they added vinegar and it was Strong. Not pleasant in a chicken salad sandwich, my husband had to add all the lettuce from the side salad to be able to eat it. And also very skimpy with the filling on this sandwich, but because it tasted so wrong He was not upset there wasn't more filling in his sandwich.
