This was a lucky find when my connecting bus drove right past me while I was trying to figure out which corner I should be standing on. Walked a couple of blocks in the direction the bus had lumbered off in, discovered the next one wasn't due for like 33 minutes. Cold rain picking up, me with a wheelie bag full of books to sell at AWP, and a strong desire to get to my destination (not strong enough to concede defeat and call an Uber.) Thought, okay, I'll go buy a hot coffee from this humble looking place as the price of admission for getting out of the rain for half an hour. Lovely lady at the counter - the owner I'm guessing - tending to a vocal and addled customer she appeared to be feeding for free. (Respect!) "Oh, sweetheart, no coffee, I'm so sorry." "Okay, I guess I'll take a beef patty then, please (and eat it really slowly...") I didn't say this last part out loud, obivously. It was delicious! And cost about the same your average cup of undistinguished restaurant coffee. I eschewed the dining room to sit at the counter by the door, keeping an eye on the bus stop, finishing the book I was reading and enjoying the friendly banter between the lady and the steady stream of carry out customers. Yelpers, thank you! After getting a couple of tasks done, a craving for jerk hit me. I looked up the closest location and this came up - lucky me. I ordered pineapple sea moss, medium jerk and side of plantains. I should of known better and ordered the large, but I played it safe. One bite in and the instant thoughts were this is delicious and let me prepare and get a glass of water. They only had one cook on, so I was nervous about the wait time, but it worked out pretty good. I heard a couple of phone orders for pasta, but I couldn't get myself to try. Ok, so portions were decent. I would say most places give me a larger portion of roce and passport and a smaller portion of cabbage. I don't know if I got the standard or if she adjusted it cause I said I wasn't huge on rice n peas in general. The patty count was low, so I wasn't able to give my standard taste test for a Jamaican spot. Hence then no cocoa bread ordered either. The only thing that would make this place better would be rum cake or more parking. I personally find this more of a grab and go, but it was a nice and clean place. I'll be back and this time for the large order. A couple of doors down was a different spot, but I trusted yelp and came here. I'm giving this place a 4 because the lady is very sweet and nice. However the chicken box 2/5 there's far better chicken boxes in Baltimore. The chicken lacked flavor and is fried hard. You can tell by the breading. The fries are salted well and are nice and crispy. Next time I'll come to try Jamaican food and review again read more

This was my first time coming to this establishment. The woman at the front was polite however when I paid for my food my change was 7.09. She gave me back 7.05. So instead of just saying we don't have any pennies she didn't say anything. I didn't make a big deal out of it. I ordered jerk chicken and oxtail on coco bread. The amount came up to be 46.00. I'm saying to myself why would a sandwich be 25.00. Well I pay it because this was my first time so I waited to see if it was worth 25.00. ( A sandwich) well the jerk chicken was not grilled it was oven backed with jerk sauce. If you are going to call yourself an authentic Jamaican restaurant please grill your jerk chicken not bake it. Ommmggggg so delicious! Their beef patty (not featured) was so good I ate it before I could take a picture. It had a nice meat ratio and a nice flakiness to it. The Jerk wing's AMAZIIIING! The smoke flavor, tender meat falling off the bone and jerk heat!!! My only brine was the rice and peas as it was very bland and the rice almost was over cooked. But if I had the jerk sauce on top I wouldn't be complaining about the rice too much. The customer service was okay. The lady ringing me up was on the phone for a very long time but she had to take orders so I understood. The price was fair and they have dine in options and the restaurant is very nice inside. I've only taken one bite and had to stop to let it cool down and came here to share that I already know before getting to the bottom of my plate that I made an amazing decision today. I called in to place a pick up order and was greeted very nicely, I made my order and wasn't given an exact time but arrived about 10 minutes after placing my order. I only waited for 5 extra minutes and was more than fine with that. I ordered the jerk salmon with rice and peas and cabbage and got a pineapple ginger drink. I mean foreall... why aren't you already on your way? The have space to dine in and there are tvs and good music playing. I would def come and dine in to be wheelbarrowed out after. Man oh Man, I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place.  My co-worker and I was heading to St. Mary's Restuarant because that was the only place we knew of to grab Jamaican food in the area. While walking to St. Mary's we noticed a small sign on the sidewalk that said 5 Jerk Wings for $7.50.  We looked up and noticed the sign belong to Hibiscus Restaurant.  While standing there I did a quick Google search, saw the 4.5-star ratings and told my coworker let's give them a try! We were greeted immediately upon entering with smiles from the guy behidn the counter and the cook.  We came in wanting to order the Jerk Chicken wings we saw advertised but once I smelled the aroma of curry, spices, and all types of goodness we decided to add a little more to our orders. The gentleman behind the counter was kind enough to let us sample the brown stewed chicken, curry chicken, oxtails and housemade BBQ sauce.  We were SOLD on every single thing we tried. So in addition to the jerk chicken wings, between the two of us, we also ordered Brown Stewed Chicken, Jerk Burger, Curry chicken, 2 Jerk Chicken patties and 3 Beef panties.  Lunch and dinner for the both of us. The Jerk Wings were Spicy ... just an FYI We left singing their praises with promises to spend the word about how good the food is and promises to come back.  The owners are sooooo kind.  The restaurant itself is spotless.  The dining area is beautiful, this is more than a regular ole' carryout.  It is a nice seat down restaurant where the love of cooking is shown in the food and service.  Returnign soon with friends for oxtails, curry chicken and to try the ribs and Coco Bread.  The Coco Bread is baked in-house.  Whattttt?!!  *Insert Happy dance​* read more

I was really excited about trying this place. It is usually closed every time I tried to visit in the past but today it was open and I was ecstatic!!! The ambiance inside is nice, the staff was very very friendly but unfortunately the food did not measure up!!! We ordered Curry Salmon, rice&peas, cabbage. Salmon was over cooked and chewy. Rice & cabbage had little flavor, wasn't memorable. We also ordered a side of mac&cheese it had to be a couple days old, was very dry, some noodles you couldn't even chew. I ordered a side of jerk chicken, well seasoned but also very dry, you could tell it was not fresh. Everyone knows you can't keep rewarming grilled food its just not edible. Lastly my mom ordered a bacon cheeseburger, I asked was it homemade or frozen. They told me homemade, the burger was clearly processed and was cooked well well well done, also very chewy!!! My daughter got a grilled chicken wrap, chicken was also overcooked and tough. The only thing that was good was the beef patty. Hibiscus is a new restaurant that is definitely worth checking out! The smoked meats and ribs are excellent. The Hibiscus Pit wrap was amazing-3 smoke meats-corn beef, turkey and beef on a wrap with cheese and homemade dressing-one of the best wraps I have ever eaten. Smoked ribs were tender and fell off the bone-great smoky flavor and taste. My daughter got the lamb gyro over rice-the lamb was delicious-perfectly cooked. We also tried the cream of crab soup-also really good with lots of crab. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of the food. Give the Sorrel drink a try as well-owners were very nice and gave us a sample-very tasty-it is made from Hibiscus flowers. I just ordered a delivery from grub hub from Hibiscus and I'm really impressed. Just a regular cheesesteak and side of Mac and cheese. Both were great.. the order was correct and it came hot still. The Mac and cheese is a huge side portion and tastes like homemade, a little peppery and garlicky even? I have been to hibiscus a few times. The Jamaican food is worth having, though 3 out of 3 time it has been served at room temp rather than hot. The place is nicely decorated. The only issue I have with the place is that while the lady at the front is not very welcoming. She isn't rude at all but she considering its a new restaurant she doesn't exactly make you feel welcome. Too busy on her phone. She seems to prefer being somewhere else. The water fall is a nice calming touch. My daughter really liked it and there were so many hidden decorations in there which kept her occupied. Also the light fixtures were nice.
