I wanted takeout jerk chicken with callaloo and rice/peas and to watch March Madness with a beer or…read moretwo while I waited.... Bad idea! The food was so bad...mushy rice and peas, the callaloo was baby food, and the baked chicken was well coated in the store bought sauce. I also sat and waited an extra 30 minutes for beef patties which never came. Adding insult to flavor injury, this place is a hip hop nightclub! Sat there for over an hour and nothing came on but old school hip hop. I asked for my money back and the lady said "I don't know about island food but that's what trini greens look like." I hate bashing minority businesses but this place is disrespectful. Hopefully they improve drastically in order to survive but, for right now, never come here for food. Sorry...and not sorry.

Caribbean Dynasty Restaurant & Lounge - Baltimore…read more I stopped by Caribbean Dynasty for a lunchtime bite, and the owner was pleasant. The restaurant is easy to find, with close-by paid parking. I tried the sample plate with curry chicken, white rice, and cabbage. The curry chicken was flavorful and tender -- truly delicious! The cabbage was seasoned just right, adding that authentic Caribbean touch. I was a little surprised to receive white rice instead of rice & peas (which I usually expect with Caribbean dishes), so that was a little disappointing. I was expecting $18 value platter but received a ($15) value platter. It appears it may come alive at night -- with a DJ, happy hour specials, and a lounge vibe. Overall, Caribbean Dynasty offers great flavors, friendly service for a grab a go lunch order .

I absolutely loved everything about my visit to Yard!…read more I ordered the curry shrimp meal, Brussels sprouts, and jerk wings, and every single item was a 10/10. The flavors were bold, perfectly seasoned, and just overall chef's kiss. The Brussels sprouts especially stood out--I'm already thinking about going back just for those alone! I also tried a beef patty, which was really good and a nice addition to the meal. Everything was so good that I'm already planning my next visit. I've got my eye on the Rasta pasta next time!

I tried Yard for the first time last Saturday. I think this place has a lot of potential but…read morethere's some menu items that personally fell flat for me. But my experience as a whole was a good one. First I'll start with the Service, the staff and the owner were great honestly. They were kind and very hospitable. The restaurant itself has a cool set up. The dining area is smaller and more intimate with great lighting, however the back lounge area is a lot larger and there is outdoor seating. So it perfect if you want to eat and then hold a vibe later on. You can do it all in one place. And it's BYOB which is great. Now let's get to the food. For an appetizer we ordered the Scotch kissed Brussels which were delicious. For my entree, I ordered the curry goat. The goat meat was good very well to my surprise, however (and it could've been because it was later in the evening) the bone to goat meat ratio could've been a lot better. I don't want to have to pick apart my meal just to find the goat meat. But because it was good I'll give them a pass. The steamed cabbage and plantain were also very good. The plate would've been nearly perfect and my rice & peas was not undercooked. And it was incredibly bland. It would've also been nice to have the option to swap for white rice. I love rice & peas (when cooked right) but I prefer white rice with my curry goat specifically. Next was the fried red snapper (escovitch). While I did love the presentation, and the fish was cooked well, it was devastatingly bland and the escovitch was not escovitch. It was a tiny garnish of sauteed veggies. I need spicy pickled veggies on my snapper. So you know, there were some winners and some losers but I was intrigued by the full menu and will definitely be returning to try more food. Also the portions are massive, I barely put a dent in my curry goat. I could legit make 3 days worth of meal prep out of one order. So that's a bonus as well.

Sasha Fierce, Cecil, and Herb were phenomenal and made the entire experience even better. As a fellow Jamaican, finding authentic food that truly tastes like home can feel like finding a diamond in the rough, and Konoko delivered. I had the oxtails with rice and peas, steamed cabbage, and sweet plantains, and every bite was incredible. My friend had the curry shrimp with rice, and the ginger beer cocktail was refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. It was 100% worth the trip from Virginia Beach, and we will absolutely be back. A true hidden gem.

He annoyed the hell outta me about the place with Good Music, black people , and those "good noodles". So I drove him up here and he made us lose our first table by changing his mind to order take out. (help me ) Anyways , we leave out and the door man dressed in all black says "Hey , are you leaving?". I told him my friend expected an upbeat experience and he assured us that the DJ was about to start playing shortly. So , we go back inside and we're taken upstairs to another table within 5 min. I never dined upstairs , I thought it was strictly for private parties. Anyways, our "flight attendant " introduced herself and welcomed us aboard a flight to Jamaica This Saturday night was really busy. Lots of birthdays and dinners. I usually come on Weekdays and sit at the bar. I ordered from the Likkle Plates menu with Signature Jerk Wings $17 and a side of cabbage $6. I wasn't that hungry... I been working out ‍. (Summer body loading btw) I really had this KONOKO Mocktail on mind....oh before I forget ... No rhyme or reason, so when you're in the mood and see it available, just know in the process, it'll shit down. On their social media they frequently post and showcase non Haitian people raving about their food. That's fine, however HAITIANS are who asked for the restaurant and it's HAITIANS who know how it's supposed to taste. I've posted and have been incredibly supportive of their restaurant, the minute I left a comment stating that they need to call their food "Haitian" and not "creole" cuisine because it waters down our culture, they blocked me. What a weird and strange way to run a business. They've definitely lost me as a customer and I will no longer point all the folks I know desperate for Haitian food to them.

I was so hyped to finally try Papi Cuisine after hearing all the rave reviews, but whew... my…read moreexperience was not it We had reservations around 4PM on a Sunday, and parking was already a nightmare. The line was out the door--even with a reservation, we had to stand outside in the cold. And I'm anemic, so standing out there shivering felt like punishment (at this point, I'm basically an ice sculpture by the door). When we finally got seated, they put us at the table right by the entrance--every time that door opened, a breeze hit me like a slap from Elsa herself . The bar was packed too, which sucked because I would've loved to sit there with my partner and vibe. It was clear they were super short-staffed. No waitress ever came to our table--we had to scan a QR code, order through our phones, and even pay before the food came. Felt more like a fast-casual spot than a nice dinner date. Our drinks took forever and when they finally arrived, they were watered down and weak. By that point we were ready to go, but since we already paid through the mobile menu, we were stuck. It took about 45 more minutes to get our food. By now I couldn't even feel my fingers or toes. But when that food hit the table? Whewww... it slapped ‍ Everything we ordered was chef's kiss. My partner and I both agreed the food was the one saving grace of the entire experience. It was flavorful, fresh, and worth the hype. Just wish we could've actually enjoyed it. We spent a good amount of money and left feeling like we would've been better off just DoorDashing it and eating at home with some Netflix. My partner, who never complains, was genuinely upset about the lack of a server. And I get it--dining out is supposed to be an experience, not just a transaction. So overall... this is a mixed review. Food? 5 stars, no doubt. Experience? 1 star, and I'm being generous. I'll probably try them again on a super slow day (whenever that is), but as far as this visit goes, I'm leaving a 3-star rating--and that's only because the food was so good.

I highly recommend to make a reservation since it was busy when we arrived and throughout the rest of night. Our server, Shaniyah, was amazing! The honey jerk lamb chops, salmon, macaroni and cheese, kale, and mashed potatoes are all good options to order off the menu. You will not be disappointed! Can't wait to visit again when in town! Also, please allot additional time before your reservation to find parking in that area. It was quite congested over there and street parking is a little limited since the restaurant is in a residential area.
