I was in Bailtimore yesterday and I had to have seafood; so, I went to Colin's Seafood and Grill. I've been there before, and I was pleased. But, this time, I was disappointed. First, I sat in the bar area at the high top tables. I thought I'll get served faster, but not. This was a learning experience; I saw things that I should not have seen as a customer. When I was seated, I ordered sweet tea and water that came quickly. However, the tea was too sweet so I tried to get the server's attention to get another cup to mix in water; but I could not get her attention. (From what I observed, this is a hang out for regulars, and the waiters for the bar area, including the high tops, cater to the folks at the bar.). After about 15 minutes, I then flagged down another waiter. This waiter did not bring me a cup as I asked. After about 7 minutes, I observed her talking to my waiter; a few moments later, my waiter was asking me if I needed anything. I conveyed that I needed a cup, and I inquired about my food order that I had placed. When she returned with the cup she said it would be another 5 minutes for my food. It was another 15 minutes before I received my food. When I was ready for the check and a box to go, I just went to the bar and asked for it. I did not want to wait any longer than I had to. The waiter was fast and polite with this request. I ordered a fish plater that was good although the scallops were a bit too greasy. The collards, Mac and cheese were good as well. I noticed that other guests were served bread with their meals, but I was not. I observed people going in and out of the kitchen who did not appear to be working there. read more

This is my second experience with Colin's. The first was absolutely terrible. My carry out order as of yesterday was better, but left a lot to be desired. True story Colin's use to be one of my favorite restaurants when it was located out Randallstown so being in the area yesterday I was more than excited to get to see what this Colin's was hitting for. I went around noon so they were just opening & it was completely empty. I didn't want to be the only one in there so I ordered takeout. I went with the shrimp salad sandwich & fries for $18. This was one of the best shrimp salad sandwiches I've ever had. Best part easily was it was full of shrimp until most places shrimps just falling everywhere every time I bite into it. I love seafood & after seeing the menu, I ordered enough for dinner & lunch while working the next day. I ordered the seafood platter; the menu said fried or baked, but it alternative was probably broiled or steamed. I went with that. The platter had shrimp, crab cake, scallops, & fish. All were well seasoned, & that crab cake was everything! It came with 2 sides. I went with mac & cheese and yams. I also ordered crab dip with nachos & the creamy crab soup. Unfortunately, they didn't label either container. They looked similar & had similar consistency as the soup was thick and creamy, so it was hard to tell which was which. Both items did have plenty of crab meat. There were plenty of people seated inside at tables and at the bar. When I placed my to-go order, I was told it'd be ready in 25 mins. I came back inside after 30 mins. After waiting for at least 5 mins with no acknowledgment, I asked a lady sitting next to me if she'd been waiting a while. She said yes because they'd brought her order out but something was missing. After she left, I had to ask about my order. This is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. There were plenty of employees walking around, & they'd look right in the direction of myself and a couple who'd walked in and were waiting to order. They never asked if we needed anything; we had to say something to them to get their attention. Colin's Seafood & Grill has a huge potential to get a 4/5 rating. I attended a group celebration and dined in their private room. Food Rating: 3.0 group party same meal, 2 meats/2 sides. A substantial amount of food. Chicken a little over cooked, ribs, mac&cheese, cabbage good. Suggestion simmer down on the seasoning in the cabbage. Service: 4.0 our waiter did a good job servicing the party of 20, only suggestion work on facial expressions, a smile goes a long way. Ambiance: 3.0 the facility was experiencing AC issues. There were 2 standing fans on opposite sides blowing directly into the guests. The guest and staff should feel comfortable whether being serviced or serving. I hope the business is able to get it repaired. Cleanliness: suggestion be sure staff is attentive to cleaning every space, crack and corner of the restaurant including dusting the blinds and windows. read more

I've been to Colin's several times, but never tried the pasta. On other times that I've went, I've chosen catfish and macaroni and cheese and greens. I don't care for the string beans because they have onions in them. They give a family style restaurant approach with typical chairs and tables. I went on Father's Day and it was not packed at all. The food came out at a decent time and the waiter was very nice. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of the menu, but on the next visit, I will be sure to upload some because the prices are amazing. The seafood pasta was very flavorful. I was on this side of town and wanted lunch. Came here with my mother. We ordered crab dip for our appetizer. The crab dip was good, but it was very soupy. I think crab dip should be a little bit thicker than that. The garlic French bread that came with it twas very good. For our entrées, I ordered the Seafood Alfredo. It was good. The sauce wasn't too thick. It came with scallops, shrimp, and crab meat. With a side of the yummy garlic French bread. Yummy! Oh and I ordered a side of cabbage and macaroni and cheese. My other ordered the baked stuffed salmon. It was covered with a crab imperial sauce that kind of tasted like dijonnaise or honey mustard. It wasn't bad just not really what we expected. Decided to come here for a birthday celebration dinner. From planning to execution they were very nice and helpful, they called multiple times to ensure our reservation due to the party size. One word Delicious! I'm in town visiting friends and family as well as my birthday, and my best friend of 30+ years invited me out to dinner. I got the ribs and shrimp dinner, and for my sides I got the greens and cabbage. I didn't care for the greens much, it was a spice or something they used i didn't care for. Our waitress offered something else so i got the yams. Omg amazing! My friend let me try her Mac and cheese and hands down the #1 thing I ate that night. Slow on a Saturday afternoon. Bar service appeared to be pretty fast. We were told 45 minute wait for someone to clear and clean a table. Then they said 30 minutes. We actually ended up sitting about an hour. Possibly more. Service seems to be passable but slow and unenthusiastic. Food came out in shifts even though we ordered at the same time . I use to always go to the one on Liberty road so I knew I'd like the food. The service was great we were there for an 80th birthday party. They have a private room you can reserve not sure the costs . The woman that handled our room did an excellent job. The bathroom could use some attention. The toilet says push in the flush and use some strength which is funny considering their customer base seems much older. Please fix the dang toilet. Finally made my way here hanging out with the fellas on a Friday night. Not too crowded when we got there and was able to be seated easily bc which was a surprise because about 15 minutes after being there, there was a few big parties that had came in. So that was a good b thing. Lucky we got seated with no reservations. Service was fairly quick and the waiters didn't take too long with get our orders. I started out with the steamed muscles. A very sizable amount. I've been to a more upscale restaurant and I didn't get this amount of muscles there and they were way more expensive. Muscles at Colin's are very good after sitting in the garlic butter. My entree was the seafood Alfredo. The shrimp were not the tiny ones that I have seen with Alfredo before. These were regularly sized shrimp which I like. I would have liked a few more pieces of scallops and the crab meat was just enough on top. A few shells here and there but it didn't ruin the dish thank goodness. Overall a good first time here. There will be more visits to come. read more

Well I finally took hubby to dine here. Just had to see for myself if this place was worth the hype. The parking lot was packed but we did manage to squeeze into a spot on the side near the front. Once inside, we were greeted by two hostesses and we were asked how many were dining. We said two and were taken to the right side and immediately placed into a small booth like dining area. Our server was Alaura. We were asked about if we wanted to order drinks, which we asked for sweet iced tea. After browsing the menu, we decided on no appetizers. I decided to try the seafood platter and hubby picked the seafood Alfredo. My platter was okay with the exception that the crabcake was a bit mushy and had a lot of shells, and they did not spare on the expense of the old bay seasoning. The shrimp, scallops, amd the tilapia was cooked to perfection. The green beans were okay too. I asked for extra sour cream, but didn't get it, but the portion size was not enough to cover a med-large baked potato. Hubby said he liked his meal too and again had to pick out a lot of shells from the crab meat. I observed the other server in our vicinity and she was so attentive to her patrons, sad we did not feel we got the same from our server, but if we return, would definitely ask for that server. Had to ask for extra napkins, which took a minute to get, even had to wait over 5 minutes to receive the check when we asked for it when she last checked on us. My girl and me went on a Monday and sat on the bar side, at a small table. The service sucked, water in the restroom was cold a ice and the Crab balls tasted like mushy tuna fish. The chinese looking chic that works there was taking to somebody sitting at the bar for over 15 minutes like there was no more customers in the spot. Collins is always a must go to while I'm in Baltimore. The food is good, the service is good and the drinks are good. It's always busy, so try and get there early. We came here around noon and was seated immediately. The food came out hot and delicious and fresh. Our server checked on us multiple times, he was polite and on point. I love the great customer service i receive when i come here. This is my third time and each time it gets better and better. Next time, I'll try a new dish. We were heading out of town so i wanted something quick. I ordered the crab cake sandwich with fries and i added bacon. (They didn't have brunch here. So i wanted bacon and crab, bomb!) Shrimps are fresh not frozen. The side salads are a meal in itself. The prices are very reasonable . Being from the south the collards greens are not cut up enough. Peach cobbler is not really cobbler because it is more like a cake . No loose peaches with juice . But this not the South so I cannot complain. Little did I know that they have some of the best southern cuisine ever! it's so much more than just a seafood and grill. Very disappointing experience. I came here with my fiance and we live in the area and wanted to try this spot for awhile. Exterior is nice but inside is hideous. Not sure who suggested to them to have beige yellow walls with navy blue and royal blue seats but the decor is distracting and hideous. The food was beyond disappointing. Flavorless, cold, and lacking in key ingredients. We had the crab nachos which had absolutely zero crab on them. The sauce that was present was runny and room temperature. I told my fiance that it was like soup without the crab. Which wasn't wrong...I also ordered the cream of crab which was cold when it came out. They sprinkled crab meat on top like parsley cuz there wasn't any crab meat in the soup besides what they sprinkled. It was bland too. I ordered the Mac and cheese which was also cold and greasy. I sent that back and asked for a new one. They heated Mac and cheese in the microwave because the dish was warmer than the food. The shrimp salad only looked good. I gave this restaurant 5 stars primarily because of their dedication to excellent customer service. Justin went out of his way to accommodate our party of 10 during the lunch rush. We were supposed to be in the party room but due to miscommunication this did not initially happen. He worked to get us the space we required to allow my family the time we needed after a difficult morning. Joshua assisted Justin as the restaurant became very busy during our visit. Both gentlemen worked hard to ensure we had everything we needed. Overall the food was probably 3.5 stars but the service was definitely 10 stars. I ordered smothered fried pork chops with mac & cheese and candied yams. I also placed a order for chicken Alfredo, but being that I didn't try that dish personally I'm not gonna speak on that but it did look delicious. The macaroni and cheese was seasoned very well. It had the consistency that I'm used to from my family cooking. The candy yams were also delicious which I could tell before even trying because they were dark, if you know you know. I love that they use fresh yams for the candy yams. The pork chops were seasoned to perfection. They were thick, but not too thick and the gravy was good. I can tell that the pork chops were freshly made, and not sitting out for a long time. I've could've done without the onions, but other than that they were really good. I also ordered collard greens. they weren't my favorite, I would have liked some heat. The staff was really friendly and helpful as well. The iced tea was really good. They don't do to go drinks but I had something to drink while I was waiting and I would say that the iced tea is more like a half-and-half, which was pretty good too.
