I'd heard about the opening of this Carolina Kitchen but never really had a reason to drive to this side of town. That changed quickly--I've been here twice in one week just for the ribs. After leaving my new part-time gig and looking for dinner, I stumbled upon this location, and I'm glad I did. Parking was easy, and the décor immediately stood out. As a true Washingtonian who grew up going to the DC locations, I can honestly say this one is my favorite so far. I was greeted right away by Danni, who recommended the ribs, and they absolutely lived up to the hype. Mr. Robinson also suggested the (pricey) potato salad and confidently stood behind it--he was right, no regrets there either. My only real gripe is the automatic assumption that I want to pay $1 for a reusable bag. I'd prefer to be asked and told the price instead of it being added automatically. Overall, great food, great service, and definitely worth the drive. I'll be back--clearly.

Side of collard greens and black eyed peas

Was recommended this place by my sister so I thought I'd give it a try. Okay so first thing I noticed was that the environment was so welcoming and I LOVED that like okay. Even though there were quite a few people ahead of me and I was in absolutely no rush, the worker behind the counter still made sure to acknowledge me and when I she walks away others came over to make sure I was okay and kept an open line of communication. Now for the food, I ordered their fried pork chops with Mac & cheese, black eyed peas and a side of collard greens. Man that plate was HEAVY and for good reason because it is a bit $$ for 1 meal. The pork chops were not already out so they did make it fresh to order and I did not mind waiting because pork chops are something that can get dry quick unlike chicken. The Mac was macking, the greens was greening. My least favorite side was the black eyed peas. They were a little sweet to me and I'm more of a savory kind of gal but if you don't mind sweet then they'll be perfect for you. Your meal also comes with side of cornbread and LORD I haven't had cornbread that good since my granddads. Definitely a good spot and will be returning!

Express, No table service. There do have limited tables and seatings you can sit down after get your food from the counter. New, clean, bright vibe. Friendly staff. Good selections of seafood, meats and vegetables. Do recommend for grab and go. Do recommend.

Soul food Chipotle The food was delicious no taste complaints over here. The service was great just SLOW especially if you order something that's not already made in the food lineup. Be prepared to wait for hot and fresh goodness. The ambiance is nice inside and they also have outside seating.

The food was just ok. I think if it was hot it would be so much better and truly believe that some things should be made to order like the fried fish and the fried chicken. The service was quick especially since I was the only one in line at the time. The staff was super friendly and held great conversations. The resturant is nicely decorated. Has a good amount of seating.

Wow! When I tell you this was a gem to find! First, the ambiance is spectacular! What a wonderful vibe! I thought I was in NYC or LA! We entered right when they opened around 11:30 on a Saturday, they announced our entry and the service is impeccable! And we had take out! They let you sample the multiple choices of food they had on the line. Clean, fresh, appetizing and delicious! I ordered whiting cooked to order, collards and potato salad! Man but that salmon and meatloaf was calling my name! My order was prepared to perfection and the potato salad was good but different as it had a little sweetness. And listen to me the desserts....man, my wife ordered the red velvet! Slap yo momma good! This experience was so good....we thought of going back tonight as they close at 10pm. Worth the trip and I hear they have locations throughout the DMV! They are on to something here! Kudos!

Carolina Kitchen Express Customer Service-Brand new restaurant that just opened in Owings Mills, MD. It's the first week so lines are still long and the employees are still training. Please allow grace and patience when visiting. Also, please view the menu to help cut down your time in line. It is on the pricey side. The total of my meal was $76. My experience was great, I was greeted, questions answered and they were very helpful. It's really hard for them to hear when taking the order and my side got mixed up, but it was corrected with no problem. At the end before you pay, you are shown what your order is so pay attention so that you can ensure you receive what you want. I'm huge on quality control and that was super important to me. Food-Fish is made to order. Everything was delicious and I would try again. Creole Salmon with Macaroni and Cheese and Cabbage. *Also comes with a side of rice.-Could have used more sauce and seasoning Fried Catfish with Greens and Yams. *Also came with rice- Very Crispy fish and a huge piece Honey Cornbread- Comes with every order. I should have purchased more it was sooooo good. Ambiance-It is sooooo beautiful. This is not a sit-down-and-order type of restaurant. It's carryout with an option to sit down and eat inside. Parking- Plenty of free parking on the lot.

First time here but it won't be the last! The music and decor was a vibe all on its own!! The jerk chicken and the seafood creole were delicious!! We had some of the sides -- collard greens, Mac & cheese, potatoes and rice... tasted like someone's grand-momma was in the back with an apron and cigarette hanging out her mouth!! Fantastic!!! It's a little pricey but worth every penny!!

The hair in the greens!

I just wanted some greens while working but decided to get a baked chicken platter. The greens had a hair in them! No it wasn't a sting it was a hair in my mouth!

Vegan Mac and cheese, chickpeas and collard greens.

I'm so glad I tried this place. They have the most amazing vegan food. The staff were super sweet and generous! The restaurant is a fun mix of fast casual, but with a classy sit down area with pleasant music and lightening. I got all plant based food. Mac and cheese, collard greens and curried chickpeas. They let me try the soy chunks, Alfredo and soup. All are fantastic. Especially the collard greens. They're perfectly Smokey and spicy.

Love this place. I'm so happy there's a location in Baltimore. The staff is great. This is more of a carryout location since seats are limited. The food is fantastic. The bbq chicken fell off the bone. The greens and Mac were seasoned perfectly. They also have vegan options. I will be back.

The food has way too much sugar. The cornbread, the fruit punch, the sweet potatoes, bbq sauce on chicken etc. Its way too much for me.

FYI: I ordered a half dozen of raw oysters to jump start things, and they were absolutely on point and super fresh from all angles ( a must have ) And once I actually dove into my meal, I was 100% sold that my loyalty was theirs for the foreseeable future. The environment is bubbly but not loud. The service is friendly and very attentive on all levels. The young woman ( Q ) did an outstanding job of helping me navigate the menu, sauce level, and to-go orders. She had the perfect attitude ( professional with a smile ) and she had an answer for every question I threw her way !!!! I did learn the hard way when I touched it. The food was good. I had the small boil that comes with half a pound of crab legs, half a pound of headless shrimp, half a pound of sausage, potatoes, and corn. You can choose your flavor and level of spice. I went with garlic butter medium spicy. More than enough to fill me up with a little leftover. Service was good as well. A very festive atmosphere inside. A few people had birthday celebrations this night and they played a club music birthday song.

I came in alone around 630 and sat right at the bar. Was greeted quickly by Ben and presented menus. Mondays it's happy hour all day FYI so use that to your advantage. They have various food and drink specials. I decided to go with the crab cake dinner special which got me a crab cake, side, and dessert for $30. I ordered an Orange Crush which I had never had but apparently you get that in Maryland and it was delicious. Tasted like summer and great decisions. The dinner came out and the crab cake came out quickly and was one of the best I've had. It had pretty big pieces of crab but it wasn't heavy. The sauce they served with it was awesome with a little lemon. I did upgrade my side to a the honey sriracha brussel sprouts with bleu cheese crumbles and they were the best I've ever had. Perfectly roasted and crispy on the outside but tender underneath. The sweet and spice was a perfect blend with the savory of the crumbles. I asked Ben what his favorite dessert was and they said they offered for the special either creme brulee, lava cake, or chocolate chip bread pudding. He said the bread pudding and it was awesome as well. Had a nice glaze on it with powdered sugar and strawberries which were a great combo with the chocolate. Overall, I had zero complaints and everything I saw that others got were very big portions. Great ambiance and definitely would go again.

The crabs came out very quickly, and I immediately noticed that the claws were unusually dark in color, which raised concerns about their appearance and freshness. Unfortunately, the taste and smell only made the experience worse. The crabs tasted old and seemed as though they may not have been fresh when cooked. I ate two, hoping the third one would be better, but it wasn't. When I opened the third crab, it had an unpleasant smell that made me question whether it was safe to eat. I even took a photo of the crabs to document what I received. I informed the waitress, and she took them to the back. She then asked if I would like to try some crabs they had in the back from a different vendor. EXCUSE ME? A DIFFERENT VENDOR? So, you have crabs from another vendor that you can offer me after I complain about the ones you initially served? Why weren't those crabs served to me in the first place? Were the crabs I received simply a bad batch, or was there a known quality issue with them? As a customer, I should not have to eat two crabs, open a third one that smells, and complain before being offered a different batch. Seafood quality and proper handling should be a priority from the beginning. I wanted to support a business in my own neighborhood, but this experience has left me questioning the quality of the crabs being served. Reter's Crabs, you need to do better! Customers deserve fresh, quality seafood without having to complain to get it. I have a photo documenting the crabs I was served, which looked pretty good until i started noticing the claws.
