    13. Pho Rare Sliced Beef & Beef Balls (Pho Tai, Bo Vien)

A friend and I were craving pho after working out in the area but as we know, Vietnamese food is scarce especially in that part of town lol we decided to give this place a try since it was close and also after reading the reviews. The service was honestly top tier. The ladies both went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and more. They brought out all the sauces included the sate- we pretty much didn't have to ask for anything because they were always 5 steps ahead of us LOL ok now onto the food. We got the spring rolls which were really good and we got the pho tai Bo vien which honestly, I was raised in Westminster and it tasted literally like what you would get there in my opinion. 10/10 would highly recommend! Definitely coming here to get my pho fix when I'm in the area.

ate half before i took the picture. oops.

Every time I come here, I'm reminded that there are still very sweet and kind people in the world. Those people just so happen to make some of the best Vietnamese food I've had. My go is the pork banh mi. Juicy, sweetened umami pork glistening in sauce with the perfect amount of subtle spice from the fresh unseeded jalapeño slices. banh mi day old crunchy french baguette so so good. get one.

I've been here several times and I'm never disappointed. This is such an amazing pho spot for the area, and to top it off all the dishes here are amazing quality. The pho has a more anise leaning flavor that may be a little more unusual to the average diner, but I fell in love with it. The pho broth is clean and the portion sizes are good, especially given the area and the price. Outside of pho, the appetizer platter is amazing. All the dishes in the appetizer platter are cooked to perfection and all the vegetables are fresh and the fish sauce is so rich. It's some of the best fish sauce I've come across recently, really umami while still somehow being clean. To top it all off - the vietnamese iced coffee. I love Vietnamese iced coffee and I always order it at a Vietnamese restaurant. I've had a lot throughout my life and this is, in my opinion, the BEST Vietnamese iced coffee I have ever had. It's so good, it literally tastes like you're drinking a more coffee forward ice cream in the best way possible. It's not too sweet and leans creamy - absolute perfection. The place itself is a little small, but service is always really fast. I've only been a couple times where the place was slammed busy. If you come at off times you won't have to wait, but at peak hours you might have to wait 15-30 minutes for a table. The only real downside of this spot is the actual location. It's located on a weird strip center right after the the 55 freeway exit, and the entry points to the strip center are weird. Just be prepared not to miss the turns into the center, because it can take a while to circle back to the entries. Overall, highly recommend this place. Grab a bowl of pho and don't skip on the vietnamese iced coffee.

This is a small little family owned spot. The place is super small and I assume they're known for takeout. The service is phenomenal and the food is very good. I got the banh xeo and beef noodles. Very generous portions and filling. The broth is very fresh and has no msg taste. I definitely would come back here.

The nest egg rolls here are sooo good - they combine shrimp and taro and it's a unique egg roll wrap texture that looks kind of like a nest. It's super delicious with the lettuce, basil, and fish sauce. Also ordered the vegetarian pho, which is a large portion. They are very generous with noodles and veggies.

The pho is excellent (and comes in titanic portions). The egg rolls are crispy. The service is beyond friendly. What more could you want? We tried a few different bowls of pho, each one offering a different combination of beef products. I ended up with a combination pho that included brisket, rare beef, meatball, and tendon. We also tried the egg rolls and a savory egg crepe that is a specialty of theirs. It was all very comforting - the soup had so much flavor and richness to it. In our eagerness to sample their dishes, I think we ordered a bit too much. Plan for a food coma afterwards!

Nice restaurant, parking in the front, next to Toast restaurant. Ordered take-out at the counter. Got the shaken beef with rice. Some places add mushrooms, some don't; this dish has mushrooms. A couple of beef pieces were tough and half of the rice was a bit clumpy, but overall nice flavor. Price was less than $20 which was nice. Service was fine and it looked clean inside.

Okay parking + friendly service + small business. We ordered the bánh xèo ($13) and crispy chicken ($13). Everything was delicious! The food tastes clean and carefully prepared. Free Vietnamese dessert as well!

This family-run restaurant has some of the best pho in the area! Comforting and exactly what my friend and I were craving!

My god such delicious creamy Vietnamese iced Coffee!!! You have to at least start there!! The spring rolls are even more delicious!! I love the peanut sauce makes them the ideal cold roll starter!! The crunchy lettuce and shrimp wrapped up is a great appetizer!! Finally I got my bowl of pho tai nam!! Super delicious broth that cooks the rare beef and flavors gets even more flavorful!! Add the sprouts and jalapeno!! The seating is both indoor and outdoor and they are so friendly!!

Logically, a Vietnamese restaurant would serve the best Vietnamese coffee, right? Right. Thickest Vietnamese coffee I have ever had, so strong & flavorful

I've tried multiple pho spots since I've been on the yelp elite squad, and I can confidently say this; this pho spot has the most flavorful and bold broth I've had. They are very generous with the meat portions and the noodles are cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and the interior was very clean. I also tried their Vietnamese coffee and it was one of the best I've tried. It was strong like Vietnamese coffee should, it was sweet, and most importantly, it was smooth. They must've used heavy cream or some kind of sweetener that made it that way. Either way, it was delicious and every time I'm out in the area, I will be stopping by!

Spicy miso ramen: 9/10 Actually one of the better ramens I've had lately. The broth is creamier and isn't overpowering with chicken/beef flavor. The chashu was nice and tender as well. I really liked that their noodles were al dente and not too soft Deluxe mazemen: 8/10 Taking my first bite, I was instantly greeted with an explosion of umami. There's a LOT of flavor packed in this bowl and the noodles used are actually a bit thicker which is right up my alley. My only drawback on this dish was that I wished it came with some sort of veggies to cut through all the flavor. They also give you a small serving of rice at the end for you to mix into the bottom which was a nice addition Kurobota sausage: 7.5/10 We've recently been on a kurobota craze. Don't get me wrong, these were great but we've only had them charred and grilled before so I was taken aback when I saw that these were only steamed. We were seated very quickly and the food came out even faster. Definitely come try this spot, I know we'll be back

The interior is cozy and small with authentic Japanese decorations/setup. Kinda felt like we were eating in Kyoto or something, lol. The lady who served us was friendly and gave us good recommendations. I think she was handling the whole operation to be honest. To start it off, we ordered their specialty chicken karaage and it was very delicious. It has a nice crispy and crunchy texture. The batter on the chicken was good and once you bite it, the meat is juicy and tender. Doesn't really need dipping since it's so good. As for the Mazemen, we ordered the Deluxe and Veggie one, both is a 5/5. Very flavorful and it tastes just like ramen, but without the soup. The presentation of the dish looks like a work of art. Very picture pretty. I ate that shit up within ten minutes. After that they give you a scoop of rice so you can mix it up with the leftover sauce. Lots of umami for sure. Definitely will come back again to try the other flavors. People, trust me and come through!

This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Massive, juicy thigh meat with a shattering, thin crust and that addictive spicy mayo on the side. * Customization: I loved that they let you pick your noodle firmness. "Hard" was the only way to go to ensure that perfect snap with every bite. The Atmosphere The Costa Mesa location always had a great energy--functional, clean, and unpretentious. The staff were always efficient, greeting everyone with a loud "Irasshaimase!" that made the experience feel truly authentic. It's heartbreaking to see such a high-caliber spot leave the neighborhood. If you were lucky enough to eat here, you know we lost a heavy hitter. To the team at Ikkousha: thank you for the memories and the best bowls in the city. You'll be sorely missed! Note: For those still craving that specific broth, their Torrance locations are still holding it down--definitely worth the drive to keep the dream alive. Come back to OC! !

The person taking our order was patient with us as we ordered even as we were dealing with our toddler. Our requests were accommodated respectfully and to the best they could! Upon first glance, the gyoza looked good, like it was a family recipe and made from scratch! The spicy garlic ramen had thick, and a tasty looking broth and the portion sizes for the ramen looked like decent enough for the price. The taste for the gyoza was good, but the spicy black garlic ramen definitely stole the show!
