This has been our go to place for ramen when the team at work is craving for it. This is right off PCH in the same plaza as Jack in the Box and Doughboys Donuts. We usually place our pick up order online. The creamy broth ramen is good, we substitute the chicken for the pork belly chashu (way better in my opinion). It comes with bean sprouts, a whole egg, and green onions. I love their to go packaging. They separate the dry items from the broth so it's fresh when you get it. We tried their chicken tenders and that was okay. Creamy broth is made with CASHEW MILK, so it's good to note for nut allergies. Otherwise, the clear broth will work.

Came across this restaurant in the corner of the shopping center just randomly. We stopped at the mini mart to grab some soda and noticed a few different restaurants actually. Visible from the street/corner, it is behind the Jack In The Box. Feels like a neighborhood restaurant, based on the crowds in the area and the open kitchen dining space. I could not wait to try the dumplings. Immediately drawn to their menu, as it's a small selection and that usually indicates to me in the past, that it usually means their specialty items are just that,, special and delicious. The open kitchen seems clean and everything is visible (their cooking/preparations and food handling is all visible if yo)

Nice cute establishment. It's small but they work with what they have. The seating is unique and it makes you remember it. The presentation of the ramen is incredible. My only huge concern was that the eggs were cold-ish in the middle AND the broth was not hot hot. It wasn't even hot enough to need and wait to eat it. I spent the whole day in Newport Beach and had walked and ran for miles so I was wet, cold and tired so i really needed a hot item to pick me up and this was mid just because of the heat. They had cucumber lemon water available for self serve which was a neat touch. The employees were great and the speed of food was fast considering they had many online orders they were working on. I stayed an extra 15-20 minutes recovering from the day and it felt cozy to do so. I am thankful

First time here I came right when it opened. The parking gets filled easily at this plaza. It is a small restaurant, seems more like fast pace, order and eat type. Inside fits average of 10-12 people. Ordered the creamy broth with Pork Belly Chashu and the crispy cilantro garlic chicken tenders. Big portion, and the meals were very good, tons of flavor, a lot of toppings are included. Service is fast, and staff were very friendly.

Tried chicken bone broth ramen for the first time and they have a simple yet tasty menu with 3 main items: ramen with either clear broth or creamy broth, crispy chicken tenders, and house made potstickers i loved all the toppings that were in the ramen and the chicken tenders were so crispy and juicy! * creamy broth ramen * fried chicken tenders * chicken potstickers * apple pie dumplings * thai tea slush * strawberry slush

A highly rated ramen place in Newport was what I was craving after a day in Balboa. It is located in a plaza on PCH, and it is small with ability to seat maybe 12 people. Owner is super nice, and ordering was easy. Since the creamy ramen uses nuts, I ordered the clear ramen. The broth was light, and it was okay. Their fried chicken used really good garnish as spice, which I appreciate. If you are in the area, it is worth a try.

It's a limited menu but oh my gosh the ramen is so good! Just beware that it's quite a wait for your food. The staff puts a lot of effort and insane amount of dedication to preparing each order and ensuring it's perfect in terms of presentation and quality. We saw one of the restaurant staff blow torching our pork belly to perfection. Highly recommend you order ahead by like 40 minutes to make sure you get your order on time. People tend to bulk order. Was not disappointed by the ramen broth and pork belly at all.

One of my biggest guilty pleasures is eating ramen. Consequently, I eat them often from many different places throughout the year........and Kokiyo became one of my favorite places to eat from in recent times. The soup both creamy and clear is absolutely delicious! The noodles come in just the right texture and portions. I love their pork belly chashu toppings. It has a nice aburi flavor along with melt in the mouth texture. And in terms of karaage available in the area, Kokiyo serves one of the best! The batter, the texture, the flavor is just perfect. Coupled with easy parking, friendly atmosphere, and efficient service, I can't find anything to complain about. I look forward to returning again in the future.

Came to try the ramen and it was okay. This restaurant is very small. Seats about 10-12 people max. The creamy broth was ok as that is what I ordered. I got all the fixings on the side so I could try the ramen and broth separately. Ramen is good but I have had better. The broth was ok, a little salty but just okay. Not into eggs in my soup so did not eat that. Would come again to try something different, but have other places to go for ramen before here.

Found my new go to spot whenever I'm near the beach! The place is small, with only four tables inside but I saw many people placing orders for to go. We ordered their clear and creamy broth ramen the latter containing cashew milk which I was pleasantly surprised by as it was my first time hearing of a ramen broth using that type of milk. Noodles were perfectly cooked and broth was delicious. We also ordered their gyoza and their spicy chicken tenders which in my opinion was the star of the show. Their house made sauce for the tenders really topped it off and I would come back just to get these again. We tried both the strawberry lemonade and thai tea slushie both which were surprisingly really good with our meal as the thought of having slushies with ramen is kind of a weird concept. Service was amazing in all aspects and cleanliness of the place was spotless. I'd recommend this place to anybody that would be in the area

This is a cute little spot to get decent ramen in the area. I ordered the creamy broth chicken ramen and the broth was very clean and delicious. The chicken breast slices were very tender. Noodles were a good texture. I also ordered some chicken pot stickers. While I thought they were good. The wrap was falling apart when trying to grab them to dip in the sauce to eat. Service was quick and nice. There is an order kiosk for orders and it's a small space with spaces to eat.

The ramen was incredible. Super rich and concentrated broth with a nice sear and intense flavor in the chashu pork. We added a few soft boiled eggs which were absolutely flawlessly cooked, the best I've ever had tbh. The gyoza had a nice crispy bottom and were so shockingly juicy inside it felt almost like a soup dumping! The sushi roll was also packed with flavor and a nice heat. It was really the teriyaki wings that stole the show. Again, ridiculously juicy with a nice crunch on the outside, the sauce was insanely good! Sweet, rich, garlicy, umami - all the best flavors. Service was excellent, everyone was super nice and the food came out quickly and hot!!! It felt made with love and skill. The only thing is that it was a bit bright inside the restaurant but then again I am sensitive to light. Otherwise the layout was nice and specious and full of medium and small booth options. They have a house spice at the table that is AMAZING, I took a bottle and enjoy it on EVERYTHING. I like to add a seasoned egg and that is complete for me. My wife has got the Tatsonoya Roll and I have to say they are pretty amazing too. I really appreciate the Chashu they make, its honestly the thickest out there but is still VERY tender. Fall apart tender and thick seems to be tricky and they have it down. Im gonna finish up this review and head on over for some excellent ramen right now.

A Legendary Slurp - Gone But Never Forgotten It is a true…read moretragedy for the Orange County food scene that Hakata Ikkousha in Costa Mesa has closed its doors. This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Massive, juicy thigh meat with a shattering, thin crust and that addictive spicy mayo on the side. * Customization: I loved that they let you pick your noodle firmness. "Hard" was the only way to go to ensure that perfect snap with every bite. The Atmosphere The Costa Mesa location always had a great energy--functional, clean, and unpretentious. The staff were always efficient, greeting everyone with a loud "Irasshaimase!" that made the experience feel truly authentic. It's heartbreaking to see such a high-caliber spot leave the neighborhood. If you were lucky enough to eat here, you know we lost a heavy hitter. To the team at Ikkousha: thank you for the memories and the best bowls in the city. You'll be sorely missed! Note: For those still craving that specific broth, their Torrance locations are still holding it down--definitely worth the drive to keep the dream alive. Come back to OC! !

The person taking our order was patient with us as we ordered even as we were dealing with our toddler. Our requests were accommodated respectfully and to the best they could! Upon first glance, the gyoza looked good, like it was a family recipe and made from scratch! The spicy garlic ramen had thick, and a tasty looking broth and the portion sizes for the ramen looked like decent enough for the price. The taste for the gyoza was good, but the spicy black garlic ramen definitely stole the show! The broth was the perfect level of savory with a delicious blend of garlic that wasn't overpowering along with the pork broth. The chashu was incredibly tender and flavorful and the ramen was cooked perfectly - *chefs kiss*, amazing!
