I told the owner Bruce that we were coming in and he saved us a table in the coolest part of the restaurant, had our iced waters & out favorite limeade at our table. WOW!!! That is unexpected service!! I usually order their wonton soup because it's SO good. This time I ordered the orange chicken and it did not disappoint! The batter was light and crunchy, the flavor was so good. My boyfriend couldn't help himself and kept eating my chicken. Now I have a dilemma next time we come...do I get the orange chicken or wonton soup? We also got the egg rolls with veggies on the side. Wrapping the egg rolls in lettuce and dipping it in the nuoc cham was so refreshing on a hot day! My boyfriend orders the steamed fish with ginger on top and said it tastes like my Mom's fish. That is a huge compliment!! And the best part is that the fish was already deboned! Don't sleep on the limeade. This is not store bought, it's made from scratch. It is tart and sweet and so refreshing. This is a small, family owned business. Bruce runs the front of the restaurant while his parents work in the back. I wasn't sure what to order, but he took the time to ask about my flavor preferences and recommended a dish that ended up being perfect for me. That level of personalized service made a big difference. We got the Singaporean style vermicelli and the popcorn chicken. The popcorn chicken was juicy and well seasoned and the vermicelli had a fantastic unique blend of curry-like spices that I had not tried before. Between the generous portions, flavorful food, and outstanding service, this place really impressed me. Bruce made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. It's some of the best asian food in the Costa Mesa area and I will definitely be coming back.

At times the local hotels will have conference and then things can fill up fast. Service is great, they watch the tables and think ahead for what you need. Im addicted to a specific soup here but keep looking at all the amazing options, I still walk in and order what I ordered last time. Clean place, great staff, awesome food. Hunan cuisine seems to be the lighter brighter version of its heavier weighted Schezuan cousin. Crunch and texture seem important and even though I am half Chinese myself, the plethora of regional Chinese offerings are foreign to me. And what an introduction! If you love the mind blowing spicy hot experience which seems popular now, you will not be disappointed by the heat they infuse into their food. But the flavors of the meat and fish still shine through. You will be welcomed to the table with a spicy pickled veggie side and a bowl of cold rice soup probably intended to soothe the tongue or as palate cleanser.
