Wok-In is a hidden, underrated gem in Costa Mesa. We were going to the OC Fair, and rather than eating junk at the fair, we chose to have dinner here first. I told the owner Bruce that we were coming in and he saved us a table in the coolest part of the restaurant, had our iced waters & out favorite limeade at our table. WOW!!! That is unexpected service!! I usually order their wonton soup because it's SO good. This time I ordered the orange chicken and it did not disappoint! The batter was light and crunchy, the flavor was so good. My boyfriend couldn't help himself and kept eating my chicken. Now I have a dilemma next time we come...do I get the orange chicken or wonton soup? We also got the egg rolls with veggies on the side. Wrapping the egg rolls in lettuce and dipping it in the nuoc cham was so refreshing on a hot day! My boyfriend orders the steamed fish with ginger on top and said it tastes like my Mom's fish. That is a huge compliment!! And the best part is that the fish was already deboned! Don't sleep on the limeade. This is not store bought, it's made from scratch. It is tart and sweet and so refreshing. This is a small, family owned business. Bruce runs the front of the restaurant while his parents work in the back. Had the pleasure of trying this place recently. The portions are great and the restaurant makes you feel at home, especially with Bruce, who I presume to be the owner, being so social. I wasn't sure what to order, but he took the time to ask about my flavor preferences and recommended a dish that ended up being perfect for me. That level of personalized service made a big difference. We got the Singaporean style vermicelli and the popcorn chicken. The popcorn chicken was juicy and well seasoned and the vermicelli had a fantastic unique blend of curry-like spices that I had not tried before. Between the generous portions, flavorful food, and outstanding service, this place really impressed me. Bruce made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. A few weeks back I was under the weather and looking for a "new" spot to get some soup. This place stood out and Im glad it did. Lots of parking around the place, I was seated fast got me a soup and hot tea. LIFE SAVER. I got the house wonton noodle soup and it was loaded too. Great noodles lots of flavor. I dont normally do hot tea at lunch or with my hot soup normally, but that day it was needed and both very good. Came back over that weekend to bring my wife and sign said temp closed and having a baby. YAY!! Congratulations. Excited to come back here and hopefully can bring my wife with me this week. Got takeout here! Tried the honey walnut shrimp, mango chicken, war wonton soup (super fresh wontons with bok choy), beef and broccoli and more! Everything was great and food was ready on time. Only note is the mango chicken and honey walnut shrimp are very similar sauce. Both delicious but if you are looking for options next time will be trying the orange chicken! read more

I was introduced to this play by a coworker a few years back. Been coming by for lunch ever since. The portion of food is crazy large. I've brought other coworkers here and many of them will have to tap out and bring their lunch home. I am totally a creature of habit and the owner knows it too...when my coworker and I stop by for pho Friday he already knows what we wanted. Pho Dac Biet with some egg rolls. Stumbled upon this place while driving up to Huntington Beach on a Saturday afternoon and it's a small mom and pop shop off the 405. We got there around 2pm and we were the only customers. The portion sizes here are HUUUGE!!! For a party of 3 we family styled it and ordered 2 Vermicelli Bowls (with Pork, Shrimp, Eggrolls), Popcorn Chicken, and Spring Rolls (Pork and Shrimp). This was wayyy too much food, we finished 1.5 of the vermicelli bowls, the spring rolls, and we actually ended up barely touching the popcorn chicken and taking it to-go. All this food plus 2 Vietnamese Coffees, and 1 Lemon Drink was under $100 including tax and tip. That's nuts and unheard of these days. All I can say about this resturant is that the food is to die for . It's by far the best Asian food in Newport Beach . I'm here at least ones a week . The owner is super kind and nice and treats you with a nice hospitality that makes you feel like you are at your own home having some home made food . Wok In serves a variety of asian dishes - chinese, vietnamese, fusion. We like to order the honey glazed walnut shrimp, house fried fish, orange chicken. Portions are hearty. It's both quality and bang for your buck! Please be patient when you come here. This is a mom n pop shop run business... meaning there's only one super nice and cool asian guy running the show up front. He's the server, cashier, food runner and busser. Cut him a break. We've been going to Wok-In for the past few years. Food is always consistently delicious whatever you order on the menu. Bruce and his whole family are amazing; not only for their customer service remembering all our dishes but the food is always top notch! Highly recommend this place if you're craving Chinese Vietnamese food or just fusion. They have the best Pho in town made with real bone broth--- taste homemade like how my mom makes it. The food was OK. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. I probably won't come again, but the people were very friendly. I would say like for the beef dishes. The beef just wasn't fresh and my friend had a fish dish, but the calamari wasn't fresh like the beef is super dry and it looks like it's kind of like has a lot of preservatives in it. A locals gem and a true staple of the community. Best broth in Orange County and enough cannot be said to show how clean this place is. The place is a piece of home where the owner remembers who you are and always makes an effort to make you feel comfortable.....in the middle of summer we've been here twice in one week...if that doesn't say enough. The pho is the reason we come, but the aero dynamic fashion and hygiene of the owner is why we stay. Tucked in a corner of an old strip mall, lies Wok-in. Shared parking lot. We got here on a weekday for lunch around 1230pm and was able to get table for 2. Service was slow and hard to get attention. The place was not packed however there were to-go orders being processed at the same time. We ordered spring rolls (you can request to modify the ingredients), pho and fish in garlic sauce (a few reads from yelp reviews mentioned this dish). But it was overpowering with too much sauce. However in my experience it was ok, nothing extraordinary. What I loved was the pho broth. Protein was less but the flavor was amazing. The fresh spring rolls were a delight with the dipping sauce. Perfect crunch to it. I wasn't a fan of the slow service and the fact that the server/cashier/food runner (all are the same person) was wearing a sleeveless outfit while rushing around. Just not hygienic. Update: You can run all the show you want but if your attitude towards hygienics is less important then I will choose to be comfortable else where. Update. I have coarse curly hair. There was short straight hair in my food. Check your cameras when I literally had to pull the hair out of my throat. Your response is a perfect example of your customer service. I wasn't done eating we were about to order more food. I have doctor diagnoses and pictures to prove my experience. WORSE EXPERIENCE!!!! First when I was there I found a piece of hair in my PHO. Then when I told the waiter, he was nothing short of rude and hostile. The Hot & Sour Soup had a great spicy taste and comes in a very large (meal size) bowl. I ordered a side of Spring Rolls and Chicken Lo Mein for the entree. The entire meal was more than I could handle. The Chicken Lo Mein could be shared with two people easily. The food and service were excellent. First, the gentleman that waits tables, really hustles. There was almost a full house and he had it all covered. They have a good choice of entrees. A lot of soups. I was a little under the weather and that's when I go for pho. I ordered the seafood pho. It was a decent amount of fish. Unfortunately, what I wanted was a big bowl of soup. Really great pho!! Also served in a big bowl with a generous amount of noodles and meat, I wasn't able to finish my bowl even though I wanted to keep going because it tasted so good. The person working there was very nice, brought us water, and gave us time to look over the menu since we got distracted talking. We also ordered garlic fries, which were good too. The pho was the star though, I got the one with rare steak, brisket, and tendon. I want to come back and try their other dishes! It's located right off the freeway and had its own lot. We ordered from WOK-IN for the first time yesterday and it was amazing! This immediately became our go-to place. The young man who helped me (Bruce, I believe - my apologies if I'm wrong!) on the phone and once I arrived, went above and beyond to help me. We ordered spring rolls, Mongolian beef, garlic noodles w beef, a steamed chicken teriyaki bowl, and spicy garlic tofu. Everything was PERFECT. I didn't take any pics because we were just so hungry. First and foremost I want to thank the owner for being so amazing and accommodating for a large group of 11 people. We celebrated a coworkers birthday lunch here and the experience was GREAT! One of my coworkers placed all our orders about 20ish minutes before our arrival and it made the process a lot smoother. This was a great space for us to laugh and just catch up on life outside the office. Two of my coworkers constantly come here and know we all know why. Food was absolutely delicious, I wish I would have taken pictures of everyone's order as well as the appetizers ordered for the table. I ordered orange chicken and white rice - 10/10!
