Our Culinary recap for 2025: In May, I started searching for a close-by Asian restaurant serving BEEF CHOW FUN (BCF). Near the end of my alphabetical phone survey/search I called WOK IN and asked if they served BCF? And the gentleman, on the phone answered "Yes!" That afternoon my Wife and I drove to WOK IN, walked into the restaurant and I asked, "Can we sit anywhere? WOK In's Owner/Greeter looked at me and simply questioned, "Beef Chow Fun?" Becuz my voice is as Californian as it is, I was startled that he remembered my morning telephone call. With it being mid-afternoon, and the dinner crowd not yet there, we and he, introduced ourselves as we waited for an appetizer of crispy calamari and one order each of BCF. The BCF was beyond our expectations and truly "over-OVER-the-top-great", and, with a smile, best described by borrowing a word created by British author, Roald Dahl, when he wrote his classic story entitled, "BFG" {Big Friendly Giant}. Our Beef Chow Fun was simply, "Scrumdiddlyumptious!!!". In late June, some forty days later, we returned, walked in, and Bruce, looking our way, startled us again, this time, welcoming us with a questioning statement: "Jock & Emily you've come back..." In the last six months we have loved bebopping around the depths of WOK IN's menu, and have happily introduced friends, relatives and business associates to Bruce and his family's remarkable Vietnamese/Chinese fusion cuisine. This place is PHOnomenal! My husband and I order from here weekly and it's always spot on. The owner Bruce is always great with the service, he remembers my orders and to ask the right questions like, "beef broth or veggie broth this time?" He also always remembers to throw all the spicy stuff in our bag. I love everything I've tried from here but specifically recommend pho (any of it), vermicelli bowl, and the garlic shrimp. read more

The food is great, I usually can finish my bowl but I only ate half and we're both stuffed! I usually go to another pho spot but this one is much closer and the proportions seem bigger they really do mean it when it says fresh spring rolls, the sauce was delicious, really happy he gave us two! The guy who served us was very friendly and multitasked really well I was shocked how many people he can help at once haha. I loved the decorations, and the fish tanks! Tasted fine, just wayyyyyyyyy too big of a portion for me. I felt like I went through an entire bowl of pho yet there was like half a bowl left. On the positive side though, it's a good deal. I can't believe I've been sleeping on this place my entire life. I can't remember how I discovered this place but this is now my #1 spot for pho in Costa Mesa. Hands down the best and the portion is big and best bang for your buck. I love the amount of noodles they put in the pho and the broth *chefs kiss* is absolutely great. Bruce is the (owner?) that serves the customers and he's a really cool down to earth guy, I can tell he's built a large amount of relationships with his clientele because I'll hear a lot of names when people walk in when I'm eating. Regardless I wish this place was open later because I absolutely love their pho. Visited Wok-in several times and the food has always been exceptional. Two of us shared orange chicken and beef chow fun today and while the servings are very generous, and we planned to take home leftovers, we couldn't stop enjoying until there was nothing left to save! The ingredients are fresh and flavors beautifully balanced without the heavy grease found at many fast/casual Asian restaurants. The place is in a simple nondescript building with no ambience but it's sparkling clean and service is friendly, prompt and helpful if you need suggestions from the extensive menu.
