this is one of the few times I order delivery and it's always bad. if you're gonna eat here you have better luck eating in person. We came to this location because of proximity to where we were but there are some evident differences from their other OC locations closer to Vietnamese town. 1. The herbs/veggies plate is significantly smaller portion size and that's probably to prevent extra waste. You can ask for another plate of veggies that doesn't cost extra, but you'll get all the fixings as the plates seem to be premade. 2. Condiments like hoisin and sriracha are also pre-portioned out too unlike some of the locations where it's self-serve, but can ask for more. 3. See photo from the pickles onions are not thinly cut and very little pickle, which indicated to me it needed to be in the brine for longer as it was bitter to eat. Condiments are clearly important to me lol but the Pho quality it still pretty similar to other locations. PhoHolic is my favorite place to eat pho. I love the #2 pho tai, chin. Unlike other places, the meat::noodle::broth ratio is perfect. There's just the right amount of everything. This place gets busy pretty quickly, but it is worth the wait. Once you're seated, you'll forget you were even waiting at all. They have tables and barstools that are separated for privacy. It's a nice change of pace from pretty much any other restaurant in the South Coast Plaza and wider area. Parking and access is super simple since its the mall. Of all the local PhoHolic locations, this is my preferred one. It is located in Collage, the food dining hall at Bloomingdale's in SCP. They have individual seating or tables in the back. Sometimes I crave pho but not a whole bowl so we will split it and order extra noodles on the side. I noticed that as takeout, it's only $2 but when dining in, the charge is $3 because it comes with additional broth. Business hours here are 11 AM to 10 PM daily. read more

This phoholic is located in south coast plaza, in Bloomingdale's lol. It has a pretty quick turn over and I like that they encourage solo dining with the whole cubbie counter situation. The menu is very simple. They basically only have pho. There are different options for topping combinations. I like that I can get the combination I like--brisket or other flank style beef and beef tendon. I find that sometimes when I go out for pho, it's either brisket or a combination of everything including tripe and I don't particularly like tripe. I also like that they offer two sizes of noodles, thin and thick. The thin noodles are what I'm used to having at other pho restaurants. I liked trying the thicker noodles. They aren't as think as like chow fun, but it was different and I liked it. The soup broth was delicious. I don't think they have enough veggies for the ratio of meat/soup/noodles/veggies that I like, but that just means that they serve relatively large portions of noodles, soup and meat. We all left very full. I also ordered a fruit tea, the watermelon flavor. Even though it had little chunks of watermelon, they definitely added an artificial watermelon syrup that I wasn't a fan of. I think I'd skip the fruit tea next time and stick with the complimentary iced tea. The service was fast and decently friendly. Next time I want to get the pho with the big beef bone that I saw a lot of other people get. For $15-$17 per bowl I think this place is a steal. read more

The food itself was good. Portions were generous, the bowls were large, and our server, Tiffany, was very kind. She made sure we got the complimentary kids' noodles, asked how we wanted them prepared, offered extras like pickled onions, and spoke Vietnamese with my parents, which they appreciated. My parents did mention their noodles weren't fully cooked. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing. The bench seating had a visible layer of dust around the perimeter, enough that my son was wiping his fingers through it. We also had to ask several times for drink refills. The biggest issue came at the end. I ordered one side of meatballs for my kids, but it was forgotten. After I reminded them, two bowls came out. I immediately pointed out that I had only ordered one, and Tiffany told me she checked with the staff and it was okay. After paying, we realized we had been charged for both. Even after explaining that we only ordered one and offering to give back the extra meatballs, we were told they couldn't refund us because the transaction was already completed. It wasn't about the money, it was the principle. There was no manager available, and the host repeatedly asked me to explain the situation before reprimanding our server in front of us, which felt very unprofessional. This is my first time trying PhoHolic and I was impressed. I got #13 and the broth was very flavorful. One concern was the noodle portion in my bowl. My sister got #13 as well, but I got a significantly smaller noodle portion. We both got thin noodles. I ended up asking the server about it and they gave me complimentary noodles on the side which was very nice. Another thing was I expected more oxtail, but I ended up getting only 1 and my sister got an even smaller one than mine. We also tried #15 and the broth had a slightly sweeter flavor profile but not too noticeable of a difference. They have all the garnishes on the side so you can dress the soup up yourself. The area is a bit small but they do provide tables for parties of ~5-6 people and also single stalls as well. It is also a bit stuffy and hot in the back.
