A friend recommended a Japanese restaurant that I had never tried before! This past weekend, my friends and I visited it and found every dish to be fresh and delicious. I'd like to share and recommend it to everyone. The three of us ordered numerous seafood dishes and finished everything on our plates--it was incredibly satisfying, haha. I particularly enjoyed their sweet shrimp; it was exceptionally fresh and had a melt-in-your-mouth quality. The wagyu sushi was also delectable, with meat that was rich but not greasy, offering a very savory taste. As a sea urchin enthusiast, I couldn't resist ordering the sea urchin tofu and sea urchin oysters . Both were delightful surprises; it had been too long since I last had such fresh seafood. My friends and I quickly devoured them, haha. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves fresh Japanese cuisine. Came with my friend a week or so ago. Restaurant was not busy, so we got seated immediately. Food did take a bit of time to come out. Uni bowl - Yummm!!! Super buttery and fresh! Chicken udon & Edamame: Taste the same with other restaurant, nothing memorable. Soft shell crab - Crunchy, crispy, taste great with the dipping sauce. I gave 4 stars because we think the server might have forgot about our soft shell crab order. Because we got everything else, and the soft shell crab didn't come out until we asked for it... Had live sweet shrimp for the first time and Kumamoto oysters with uni all I can say is that it DOES NOT get any fresher than that. I recently visited Kiyo for dinner & I loved everything about the experience, from the sushi bar ambiance and the prompt service, to the iPad menus which made it easy to sort through the extensive offerings in an organized, simple and visually appealing way. Didn't expect much but turned out to be one of the best meal I've had in LA. Seriously they have very good Wagyu A5 shabu shabu and live lobster!! The wagyu literally melts in the mouth. It's the best shabu shabu I've had so far. The portion is quite small, though, but that's expected from the price of the grade A5 I guess. For sushi, the Toro parts are what I would order again. came here for lunch during thanksgiving week and got opportunity to order from their lunch menu. A chirashi bowl for $22 was a such a great deal given the variety of pieces they included: salmon, tuna, yellowtail, scallop, and more. They even have a salmon don in the lunch menu and that was a good deal too. you get about 8 pieces of thick salmon over rice. each piece of the fish were very fresh. the only complaint i had was the 20% tip the charge us for a table of 6 (4 adults, 2 children). Service wasn't exceptionally great - all they did was just dropped off the waters and our orders. they didn't come by to check on us, didn't even ask if we need more water, honestly there wasn't any service except giving us the food. Also one of the dishes we ordered was slow; we had to ask them to make sure they're still making it or if it's forgotten. So to charge us that high was a bit ridiculous. Was searching for a sushi dinner and luckily I found this place. I've been to this plaza many times, but never realized this sushi restaurant tucked in the corner. There are a few tables outside for outdoor dining. I chose to sit at the sushi bar and was able to watch the sushi chefs prepare all the sushi. I had the salmon cutroll, crunchy roll, sexy lady roll, and unagi don. All the rolls were pretty good, although nothing crazy. The crunchy roll had so much crunchy flakes on it and the sexy lady roll was covered in lots of fried onion. I enjoyed the unagi don more than I expected to. The unagi was soft and full of flavor and topped on a warm bed of rice with some slices of yellow radish. A delicious and filling meal. Next time I'll have to come during lunch so that I could get the lunch specials. They also have some daily special items, but none of them stood out to me. Sushi here cannot be beat. It's always easy to get a table regardless of time of day or week though I wish them more business. My husband and I are sushi snobs. We've been to Japan so we feel we have some context. The sushi at Kiyo is the closest we've found to the flavor and quality of sushi in Tokyo. They have plenty of great fish options if you're more adventurous. They even have raw clams which is a treat and cannot be found easily. They are super tasty btw! We've come here at least 10 times now and they are consistent which beats every other sushi place we've tried (and we've tried many including all the ones around a 5 mile radius to here). Flavor, freshness is always a 5 stars. Service is simple and effective, nothing to complain about. We've tried their cooked foods which have all been good as well (except uni pasta was probably the weakest in flavor and wouldn't recommend) But we come primarily for their sushi. Lunch special chirashi bowl value is amazing. $20 gets you a bowl with tons of thick cut sliced fish on top of perfectly made sushi rice that's so addicting you have to eat every kernel. Depending on availability, I've gotten lucky and even had sweet shrimp or uni in my bowl. You'd have to easily pay $8 at least just for one piece of either at any other restaurant! Lunch special hand rolls are also an amazing value. Ambience is cool, hip, soft pop music playing. Very comfortable. They have a picture menu on a tablet device that makes ordering super easy. There is plenty of parking in the lot. Go to the boba place next door after your meal for a perfect sweet finish to your meal. Closed on Mondays. Went to Kisen across the street because Kiyo wasn't open and was severely disappointed. Not sure what the hype is with that place. Kiyo is where it's at! read more

KIYO is a smaller spot tucked away in the corner of a plaza in Arcadia. I swung by during lunch time on a Friday and happily thumbed through their lunch special menu. - Sushi Platter: 8 pieces of assorted fish + 6 cut pieces of sushi for $30.00. So worth it. The collection is fresh and absolutely delicious. I'm not a tamago fan, so I checked with the waiter before ordering and was happy to hear that it was NOT one of the pieces included. - Spicy Salmon Handroll: A tasty $4.00 bite! I left surprisingly full and so happy. On another occasion, I got the chirashi bowl - also amazing and SO worth it. Shrimp Tempura Udon had a mild broth with noodles cooked perfectly and yummy shrimp tempura which was perfect for a cold rainy night. White Peach Yuzu Soda was so refreshing and flavorful. So good! Miso Chilean Sea Bass was moist and flavorful and a perfect balance of sweet miso. Fresh Oysters were good quality and delicious. Shrimp so fresh it was still moving. The best roll I recommend is dragon roll, inside consist of imitate crab meat and topping off with avocado and dipped inside sides of house special sauce. I came during the night time, and the special today was their Shabu Shabu, with the weather getting cold, highly recommend to get the Shabu Shabu as they offer variety of meat ranging from A5 Japanese wagyuuu to American ribeyes. Chirashi bowls are pretty huge for take out and very filling. Even eating half way through, I felt pretty full and the fish was fresh, with additional mixed fish with spicy salmon with what I think was mayo and spicy tuna scooped in additional to the sashimi. Decide to try a new sushi restaurant and found this one in yelp. Overall we are very satisfied with the food that we had (and price is reasonable too) Portion is BIG, fish is very fresh, the cut is a pretty generous thick cut. We tried the chirashi bowl, both regular and premium. Both are super good. If you really like sweet shrimp and uni, get the premium one, you won't be disappointed it in. The surprising dish is definitely the drill beef tongue, seasoned well and just cook to the right tenderness. The teriyaki beef is of HUGE portion again. But tastes good. They close at 2pm for lunch then reopen later for dinner. The combo comes with a side of 3 piece sashimi (salmon, yellowtail, tuna) or other options include tempura, rolls, gyoza. We had the unagi don and grilled hamachi Kama which were both great. From before the grilled salmon is also good. Their sushi quality is great considering the price. It exceeded my expectations. Soo good!! Every piece was a personal favorite. Memorable fish included the scallop, blue fin tuna, Chutoro, salmon and of course the uni. Great portions and good rice and fish ratio. Nice touch with the yuzu hot sauce. Ikura was poppin' . Everything was top notch quality. No fillers with tamago or squid. All high quality pieces. Trying someplace new for sushi for our Friday night meal. KIYO popped up on our search so we gave them a spin. We ordered in person in order to see the updated menu and to check what their daily specials were. Heeding other Yelpers' comments, we stayed away from their cooked items and stuck with the raw. * Salmon don ($27.95) * Blue crab cut roll ($12) * Spicy tuna cut rolls ($8) * Spider roll ($13) This is the first time I've had cucumber in a spicy tuna or blue crab roll, so it was an unexpected addition that I didn't quite care for. I was pleased that the blue crab roll wasn't heavy on the mayo, but they aren't as good as Sugarfish's blue crab roll and KIYO's one cost more too. The spider roll was good and so was the salmon don (especially if you're craving salmon, there's at least three types of salmon prepared in it). They offer miso soup or ice cream with a Yelp check-in. Unfortunately, they were out of ice cream for the day, so we got miso soup with our order. I asked them to leave out the wasabi, ginger, and containers of sauces (still have so much at home from previous sushi takeout), but somehow it wasn't communicated because I still got it anyways. I appreciate trying out a local place I haven't been to before, but I don't see myself on a repeat visit. I ordered the dragon roll (california roll with eel and avocado on tol) for $16 and sashimi A which cane with tuna, salmon, scallops and spicy mashed tuna. The scallops were good and so were the tuna and salmon but everything else was so-so. For the price, id rather eat somewhere else. The girls decided to get together for dinner last minute and came here. We arrived at 5:30pm when dinner started, but had to wait until 6pm for them to setup all the outdoor seating. If you say you're going to open at 5:30pm, then you should probably start setting up at 5pm instead or change your times. The tables could also be spaced out a bit more as there was a huge party behind us. They use an iPad as their menu, but a waitress will still be taking your order. Due to COVID-19, everything is served on plastic plates and bowls. I ordered the Chirashi Bowl ($27.95) and we shared the Deep Fried Calamari ($7.95) for the table. The calamari was standard; nice and crispy with some mayo to dip. The chirashi bowl was also pretty standard with fresh slices of sashimi over a bed of rice.
