It is important to note that this is a SEASONAL salmon barbecue during APRIL, on Friday-Saturday-Sunday only as a fundraiser for Kiwanis (a community service organization) to coincide with the Tulip Festival held annually in April. You can't tell from this Yelp page that it's not open the rest of the year (and I see another reviewer who must have tried to visit in July and couldn't find it.) For $23 (2024 prices) you get a meal box with a big piece of salmon, cole slaw, a baked potato, garlic bread, and an ice cream bar. I think they had cups of water or juice inside, but I didn't go in. My husband went in and bought the meal and brought it out while I grabbed a picnic table. The location is in Hillcrest Part, a nice park with plenty of parking, so you can sit outside or stretch your legs and let the kids run around. I didn't think the meal was tasty (sorry, but it's a bit bland) but it is for a good cause and seems like it is one of those beloved local traditions. I was happy we could eat outside with our dogs and enjoy the sun a bit more before the long drive home!

One of the best things about the tulip festival is the salmon barbecue. If you are in Mount Vernon in April for the tulip festival check out the salmon barbecue put on by the Kiwanis. For a reasonable price you get salmon, a couple of sides, garlic, bread, beverage, and an ice cream treat. You can sit down on a table and eat it there or many people come and take the meals home. You'll often be able to buy raffle tickets for a fundraiser and do some socializing while you're there. It's one of the best meals you can get in Mount Vernon.

Excellent wild caught king and silver salmon barbecued to perfection. The Kiwanis volunteers are friendly folks and have a nice facility.

Our servers Stephanie and Elizabeth were so helpful, they made the whole experience so stress-free! We got to the restaurant an hour early to setup the Auxiliary meeting room we reserved for our club meeting. After talking with the servers, it was decided that it may not be big enough for a group of our size. The servers graciously offered to close off the main portion of the restaurant instead, and redirect the normal patrons to the Auxiliary meeting room. This worked excellent, and there was plenty of space for our club to meet! The servers also helped up re-arrange the tables to suit our needs, and we had plenty of space. The menus worked great, and the food was absolutely delicious. Additionally, we had one or two guests who had dietary restrictions, and the servers were more than accommodating to them. Our club meeting also went very well! The restaurant was quiet and we had no trouble hearing our president and officers make announcements. The servers very discreetly gathered up the checks, and nobody had any complaints about things not being processed properly. Overall, the officers commented about how accommodating the restaurant was and how the servers went out of their way to make our meeting work well. And it did - we one of the highest turnouts of any non-holiday meeting despite the rain. Thanks so much for the great experience. We will be back next year!

Luckily, I booked a table a week in advance, though there was still a short wait before being seated. We started with the meatballs and house salad--the meatballs were especially flavorful and well seasoned. For mains, the spaghetti carbonara with added spicy sausage was excellent, and the portion size was huge. I ordered the gnocchi gorgonzola, which unfortunately leaned too salty and heavy for my taste. The homemade bread was a nice touch and added to the cozy, home-style feel of the restaurant. Despite the holiday crowd, service remained friendly and welcoming throughout. Overall, it felt like a warm neighborhood Italian spot, and we'd definitely come back again.

The service is pretty standard and the staff were able to clear our plates relatively quickly. This is a Chinese or Asian style buffet, and we loved the Asian style fusion foods. There were rows and rows of food choices. Some of the trays were of hot food like ribs or fish, fried foods, various seafoods, a salad bar, sushi and sashimi bar, desserts or fruits, and even a DIY grilling station where you can choose your own meats or proteins, veggies, or noodles, and they'll freshly stir fry it on a hot stone flat grill top! The various seafoods included shrimp, clams, baked oysters, crawfish, and deep fried crab. My favourite was probably the sushi bar with many different rolls, nigiri sushi, sashimi, and sashimi salad. They also have an unlimited soft serve machine. All in all, a great lunch with amazing variety and portions!

They have Asian cuisine from sushi, fried rice, chow mein, orange chicken , salt and pepper chicken, spicy chicken and fried rice. For the kiddos, they have fried chicken, kebabs, French fries and soups. A grill for whatever you need, desserts and ice cream. The service is very good as well. The staff is constantly walking by to grab your empty plates and refill for beverages. On the weekends, they have crab legs, crawfish and shrimp in a seafood boil. It goes pretty fast once the staff brings it out lol so be ready to wait a little. The ambiance is warm and welcoming. I've been here twice and will continue to return for the quality and price of the food. For 2 people my total was about $40. Not bad at all !!

Two salsa bottles (salsa verde and a smoky salsa) were brought to the table. - Agua de horchata ($2.50 USD small) - good but they added a lot of ice. - 2 Enchiladas & 1 tamal combination platter (#3) ($14.99 USD) - tamale was good, enchiladas were bland. Rice wasn't hot; tasted like it sat in the warmer for too long. - Lengua en salsa verde ($16.99 USD) - beef tongue was tender and sautéed onions were nice but tiny portion. We tried to share menus for a few minutes, but then decided to ask for another menu since there were two of us. We ordered combos and added a grande taco which is made with a handmade tortilla so that was exciting. FYI there's not chips and salsa here like most of the Mexican restaurants. The food was delicious. Service was OK. The prices are very reasonable. It wasn't too much food which is great! No need to take leftovers home that might go to waste anyway. I'd rather have the low prices. It appeared clean inside. Dated interiors. Large women's bathroom. It's kind of a strange layout and when standing out front, looked more like apartment doors and the open sign was off. Thankfully they had a small sign next to the right door that had their hours written on it and were open.
