The place is narrow, with a long counter running down the length of it and additional seating tucked away in the back. Grab a seat at the counter and the grill is literally right on the other side, so you get a front-row seat to the action while your breakfast is being made. And honestly, the entertainment is half the experience. The cooks and wait staff are constantly joking, talking, and giving each other a hard time. Their friendly banter is so natural that I found myself wondering if this was a family-run business. Whether it is or not, they definitely have that kind of chemistry. They also seemed to know just about every regular who walked through the door. Between the conversations, laughter, open grill, and familiar faces, I couldn't help thinking I'd somehow wandered onto an episode of Cheers, only instead of sitting at the bar with a beer, I was at the counter with coffee and a seriously impressive breakfast. I ordered The Moose Omelet, and apparently the moose isn't just there for decoration. This thing is a beast. Four eggs packed with crisp bacon, linguica, sausage, ham, green onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and thin-sliced potatoes that reminded me of scalloped potatoes, all folded into the omelet and blanketed with melted cheddar cheese. Their homemade pico was delicious and went perfectly with the omelet. What I liked most about The Mangy Moose is that it doesn't feel manufactured or overly polished. It's a real neighborhood diner with character, generous food, friendly people, and the kind of atmosphere that's becoming harder and harder to find. I may have walked in as the new guy, but it definitely feels like the kind of place where, after a few visits, everybody really would know your name. I'll be back. Five stars.

Hour of arrival was around 5pm. We were greeted by Natalie and welcome in. We sat at the bar. Shortly after we were greeted by Caroline. We spoke about what brought us here. I explained to her i saw thier Yelp page and a pictures of a pizza caught my eye. She explains in detail of what she is doing with this style of pizza and the ingredients she uses. We were sold. We ordered 3 new haven style pizza or apizza as advertised. We ordered the Mozz , Margherita and one not on the menu Pepperoni hot honey apizza. This is the order she suggested we have them and we complied. I'm no expert of new haven style pizza but I'll watched enough Dave Portnoy to maybe not necessarily be a judge but to recognize what makes a apizza. Let me start by saying these pizzas were delicious. As for the characteristics of a new haven there were some. I'll let you be the judge by the picture or your own experience dinning here. We tried all 3 as they were coming out the oven and also tried them with Caroline customizations. In short they elevated the apizza. She also mentioned she puts some parmigiano reggiano on her pizza and has a big wheel of it in the back which I didn't get the chance to see and take a picture. None the less another thing to like about her pizza.. Natalie crafted some fine spirits for us to accompany our pizzas although I wish they were a bit more unbalanced in a good way but then again the are mixed drink. The ambiance was great with Contemporary jazz playing. I like jazz so it was delightful. If you are at the bar you may need to talk a little louder to your friend. 3 pizzas 5 mixed drinks plus tip $190. I will certainly be back with my wife I think she will like the Alfredo pasta. Caroline signature dish. Heavy cream she says.

The restaurant is connected to (or at least shares a building with) the casino, so parking can be a little tricky. Most of the lot was full when we arrived, and I ended up parking on the street. Inside, it's really cute. They have a great wine display right when you walk in, a cozy dining area, and a small outdoor patio that looked like a nice spot to sit. Service was good. Nothing over the top, but friendly and exactly what you'd expect. The menu sounded fantastic, which made me really excited. We ordered oysters, lobster bisque, filet mignon, scallop pasta, lobster mac and cheese, and I had an Old Fashioned. The oysters and bisque were both okay, the filet and pasta were decent, but honestly nothing really stood out. The biggest disappointment was the lobster mac and cheese. If you love lobster mac like I do and always order it when it's on the menu, I'd skip this one. It wasn't really mac and cheese at all. The sauce didn't taste cheesy, the presentation wasn't appealing, and it ended up being one of my least favorite versions I've had. Overall, it's a nice restaurant with a good atmosphere, but the food just didn't wow me. If someone invited me back for another celebration, I'd happily go. It just wouldn't be my first choice if I were picking the restaurant myself.

And I'll tell you, the guys on my crew and demolish that bowl of chips in no time, so we always get a refill for free! Last time at Chili's I decided to try this crispy chicken sandwich option after seeing a review on YouTube, looked good there, but when I got it, it was really dry and not nearly as good as the burger option. We go in here for lunch after getting gas and checking out the Costco nearby. Seated fine and the inside looks like most Chili's or even an Applebee's. The server is friendly. I think the service here is better then at Applebee's. I order my 3 for me "QP" burger with fries and the loaded potato soup for my side. I used to get the salads, but the portion size has gotten super dinky, so the soup is a better deal as far as filling tasty food goes. I ordered my burger "pink" (Chili's term of doneness). The other guys got burgers too, except the one other girl on my crew, she got some sort of Mexican chicken salad with guacamole. Service was fast enough we got in and out in less than an hour. It sounds great on paper but the execution falls short. For whatever reason they don't cook all the veggies with the pizza, instead, they heap on a bunch of raw veggies after it comes out on the oven so it's kinda like a salad. I'm guessing it's too much moisture to cook down all those veggies, in which case, put less veggies! The toppings should all be cooked!
