Their brisket is super tender, moist, and flavorful. Their pork ribs is fall off the bone tender. I tried their lemon pepper chicken wings (comes in a 6 ($8.99) or 12 piece ($16.99) and that was crispy and delicious. They also sell Indian food. I got their Samosa, (1 order $3.99) and comes with 2 pieces. Service is quick, and the lady cashier was friendly. Ambiance is similar to back when it was Dickies. Some of the worst BBQ I've had in a long time. VERY tough over cooked brisket that I didn't finish. I attempted to eat the chicken but that was also dry and tough. The Mac and cheese was bland and the coleslaw was also bland. The one redeeming quality of this place was the pork ribs. Very tender, almost to a fault actually, but still good. It was fall off the bone tender with a nice flavor to it. They are like a combo restaurant who serves dishes from a local Indian restaurant, Rasoi. Service is pretty standard for a fast casual. I'll start off by saying the brisket and ribs were extremely tender. A little lacking on flavor and the char was soggy and not crisp like you expect at a bbq place, but it was tender and juicy! I got Mac and cheese and potato salad. Both tasted mass produced and not made fresh, comparable to kfc Mac and prepackaged grocery store potatoe salad. The most disappointing part was I chose a spicy sausage for one of my meat choices. Zero grill marks/char, and it was clearly microwaved (I love microwaved hotdogs and can spot the microwave heat spots lol). The cashier was helpful , patience and answered any questions which tells me she values her customers and their business. It's a fairly new place she said. Inside is modern clean . Sodas are free refills. I decided just for the brisket sandwich with everything including pickles And jalapeños and American cheese fresh tomato.It was on a plain hamburger bun which held up well. The brisket sandwich was just ok driest have the bbq flavor that I'm accustomed to by then again this is a fast food bbq place not cooked to order because it was easy ready like 2 min literally. They have self serve pump in containers 3 types of bbq sauces , original, sweet heat and hot bbq. Not the best brisket I have ever had but not terrible at all . It just hit the spot for my later afternoon lunch on this rainy day in Lathrop. It amazing how fast this city is growing as I can see from the heavy traffic on the street and store construction everywhere even in Manteca. Beef Brisket, Chicken, Pulled Pork, Bbq Baked Beans, Green Beans Vs a $15 slop sandwich with absolutely no sauce with my beloved side of Bushs' Baked beans and fresh from the can green beans no butter no salt no pepper no nothing. What an absolute disgrace. If id known this food and service was going to be this trash I would have rather wiped my ass with the $30 and flushed it away instead. I think what they do is say you get the meat for 17 and then you still pay the 3.99 per side. As you see the pork did not have much sauce and no seasoning. The Mac and cheese was good and hot but was super runny. Also drinks are not included! So make sure if you want a full meal and no extra charges you go somewhere else. We came in last night and the person behind the counter was Abella (I hope I spelled that correctly) She had a great big smile and was very professional and friendly. My husband just wanted a snack so we ordered 12 piece wings. She made the order fast and efficiently. We ordered the sauce on the side and the Mango Habanero was sweet with a little heat. They are in a strip mall and there is plenty of parking. The restaurant was clean and inviting to be inside. Abella made all the difference with her great atttiude, I really appreciate it! Decided to stop in and get lunch after church. Not long of a wait so that was good but the room is cold cold and on a rainy day some heat would have been nice. On to the reason your reading, was the food good? I give it a 7 out of 10. The baked potato was good, ribs were good, sauces were decent and made the meats taste good, everything else was standard franchise style BBQ. The Chili Beans had a kick, but was missing something and the greenbeans had no flavor. We had to add salt and pepper. Could have used some onion. I would recommend for a simple lunch like today. Drove by here during lunch hour. Decided to stop by for a dine-in meal. Restaurant was empty but clean. The staff member greeted us right away. First time being there she did go over the menu options. She was very nice. We ordered our food to dine-in and also ordered food for take-out. The food came out pretty quick but unfortunately that's not a good thing. We ate our food there and frankly the food was mediocre at best. The meats were not hot, or cold. I wouldnt even consider the meat "warm", it was more of just room temperature, all of the meat for both orders were room temp. This is definitely of concern when eating out because I dont know how the meat is stored but it raises a safety concern for me. The macaroni n cheese was watered down. Mashed potatoes and slaw had little flavor. The potato salad and the texas toast were the two things I thought were good. But that's about it. Ordered a 3 meat plate for $25... spicy sausage, chicken and the brisket. The chicken was a touch on the dry side and didn't really have much flavor. The spicy sausage was decent. I'd try that again. The brisket was tender and had somewhat of a smoked flavor, but probably not something I'd run back for. It's tough to find a great BBQ spot. This one for me falls in line as average with some of the other fast joints. Worth trying to be the judge for yourself, but not on my personal list to rush back to. read more

Overall this place was less than great when it comes to BBQ. The brisket was good, but not worth the price. The pulled pork was not seasoned very well. The spicy sausage looked and tasted boiled/steamed, not BBQ'd. The Mac and cheese looked and tasted like Kraft. The green beans were unseasoned altogether. The wings were lightly sauced and did not come with any dipping sauce. Portion size was heavily lacking for the price. So, I'm reviewing the food we received...not the food we ordered. I called in for two loaded baked potatoes and a large mac & cheese. While picking up my order I added 2 cornbread muffins. There was no one else in the place. The lady handed me my paper bag full of food and I drove back home 10-15 min away. Got home and unpacked the food...in the bag was my 2 muffins, a chicken sandwich, a container with ribs, a slice of Texas toast, a small mac & cheese, and 2 small potatoes salads!! No baked potatoes at all! Since I didn't want to drive all the way back I decided we could eat what we had. So the two stars are for the food we ate. The ribs were pretty good but a bit fatty. The chicken sandwich was a frozen chicken patty deep fried and place on a bun with some lettuce and mayo...nothing to write home about. The potato salad was decent, the mac was bland, the Texas toast was cold, the cornbread muffins were hard and cold. The variety of bbq sauce was good...spicy, sweet and regular. The lady was friendly and the place looked clean. Will I try them again? Not sure. Would like to see what the loaded baked potatoes with brisket are like but now I'm a bit nervous. This is the tale of two experiences at one place. The service was good the place was clean but the food was horrible. I ordered the 3 meat plate with 2 sides and when I grabbed the bag I felt right then that this might be a problem. But not wanting to make a scene a grabbed it and left and when I got home is when the horror began. The turkey was ice cold and in perfect cubes like it came out of a prison package. The Brisket was Luke warm and dry. The macaroni and cheese was watery and not fresh. Everything seemed and tasted like out the box freezer food. This was not BBQ at all and it shouldn't be called BBQ Nation. The 3 and a half stars this place receives is only for service and not for the food. I should have went to burger King. I got the 2 meat combo brisket and pulled pork. Right away when I got in my car I noticed a bad smell coming from the food. When I got home I opened the contairs and wow let me tell you I was very disappointed I got 3 pieces of brisket and looked like a handfull of pulled pork and smallest container of chilli ive ever seen. This place is new (apparently 4 months new) and their food is delicious. My party got a 2 meat sandwich combo and pulled pork sandwich combos. The meat is tender and has 3 choices of sauce. Sweet, original, and spicy. Each are delicious in their own way. Our sides were corn on the cob, fries, and potato salad. No complaints on any of their sides. The service was friendly and fast. I think the toasted buns definitely added to the sandwich. This place was not packed but at the same time seemed busy with both take out and in house orders. It was pretty quiet in the restraunt and was a very enjoyable experience. Will definitely be back here to try more of their menu. read more

Customer service is the only thing I can recommend about this place. The lady working the counter is extremely friendly and helpful. The food was lukewarm and rather bland. The sausage was ok, but the brisket and ribs were extremely dry and had no flavor. My biggest personal issue is I love a good burger and their signs literally has "burgers" as part of their logo, yet they don't sell burgers per se they do have some brisket sandwiches and a potato burger. This is the worst barbecue I've ever had, hands down. I ordered the brisket and spicy sausage with mac and cheese and fries as sides. The brisket was room temperature and flavorless. Also shredded, like you would do if you were making a hash. Honestly, who the hell would do that to a brisket? And who would want to eat it? Brisket is, when prepared correctly by sane people, cut into thick slabs that fall apart when chewed. This brisket had no mouthfeel because it was shredded into dog food. The sausage was ok, I guess, but cut into very thin slices, again ruining the mouthfeel. If I were to guess, is assume the chef doesn't understand how to properly smoke meat and has to disguise it by reducing it to tiny pieces in hopes the customer won't notice. Oh, but I noticed. The sauce was nothing special, I'm guessing store bought. The fries were decent enough. The Mac and cheese was clearly Kraft brand. Literally store bought slop. Unbelievable. By far the worst bbq I have ever tasted in my existence. Small portions, food is cold, brisket sucks. The prices are very expensive for the portions. I'm new to Lathrop but will definitely never ever come here again. The people that gave good reviews are friends of the owner and not real customers. BBQ Nation is in the old Dickies BBQ location. Saw the signs changed over and my wife said we should give them a try once they have been open a few months. Because Dickies wasn't BBQ! We received in the mail the weekly sale and coupon sheets for local businesses and BBQ Nation had an ad in there. Clipped the coupon and went into the Store. After looking over the menu my wife had the Rib plate with corn on the cob and potato salad along with Texas toast. I ordered the three meat platter with hot sausage, pulled pork and brisket along with macaroni and cheese, and green beans also with Texas toast. Order taker was polite and very friendly he informed us it would be a few minutes to get our order to go. Their was 2 parties ahead of us waiting for there food as well. Place is clean and well lit checked out the sauce kettles the have sweet, BBQ and mild spicy. Put 2 to go cups together with the spicy sauce. Sat back down and Counter attendant gave us our order. Drove home and went to the tasting. Spicy sausage not that spicy and looks to be made with either turkey or chicken. Pulled pork was good but lacked the true BBQ flavor and Brisket was basically the same way although quite fatty. Wife's ribs were fall off the bone done with good flavor and meaty pork ribs. Green beans were ok with little flavor and the mac and cheese was definitely not homemade. Corn on the cob was great and Potato salad was bland. Texas toast was more like sandwich sliced bread with a single slice included in each meal. Overall this place is another form of Dickies but with a little more taste but definitely not a True BBQ Restaurant. We usually give a place 3 trys before either adding it to our rotation of places to eat or don't go again. Since they are new to Lathrop we will try again but hopefully Lathrop or Manteca can one of these days get an actual BBQ Restaurant. read more
