It's about time to put a review about my experience, rather than my experience helping the older people who own the house where I live. I've been going to Hong Kong Restaurant for several weeks now. I order the same thing each time: Steamed Fish, Steamed Rice, and Iced Tea. I love fish, as almost all Japanese do. I always get a good portion here and the recipe is made well. Every time I enter, I'm greeted energetically, whether they're busy or not. The dear lady running things knows what I want after all these weeks. I'm not one for American-ized Chinese food, having worked in a Chinese restaurant of my friends in Ohio. There isn't as much room as one could hope. I feel bad taking a booth if it's busy but I don't like the chairs or leaving my stuff in the way. Since I walk, I have stuff with me. The Steamed Fish is the best I've had for a while and it's less expensive than the other place in town where I used to go. I wish that they had a couple of other recipes from around China, but this is good, solid food. I haven't bought it for a while, but their Tofu Seafood Soup is really good. I just can't eat that and the fish. I'm just so glad that it's close and they are friendly, as well as having good food. read more

Great portions! Very friendly and amazing service. Shrimp appetizer was fresh and delicious. The Mongolian beef over noodles was amazing. The Kung pao chicken over pan fried noodles was perfect. The noodles were just the way I like them. My sons seafood chow mein was also amazing. He really loved it. Not sure if I mentioned this, but the portion sizes were incredible. Not to mention that the service was five stars very friendly very attentive. Great experience eating here. I would both recommend this place to everyone and I will be coming back. Had a very homie ambience and all the food had a traditional feel and taste. Do not go based on the few bad reviews this place definitely deserves five stars. Come try it for yourself. I would've posted pictures, but I didn't know. I was gonna make this review until after we devoured everything. Not to mention great prices! read more

Was visiting from out of town and decided to stop here. Right off the bat, the customer service was exceptional! Definitely family-run, but they were very kind and helpful. I came with two others, and we ordered the Family Dinner, which comes with egg drop soup, pork fried rice, pork chow mein, fried chicken, sweet and sour pork, prawns, and egg foo young. We also got the cream cheese wontons -- it was so much food, and great for the price! The cream cheese wontons were sweet, which I'd never experienced before, but they were good -- more like a dessert than an appetizer. The chicken and pork were nice and crispy. Sometimes sweet and sour pork can get too mushy, but this was perfect and super fresh. My only critique is that the egg drop soup and the chow mein lacked flavor -- they weren't the stars of the show. Still, overall I wasn't disappointed; it was very good, and I'm glad we stopped. If anything, come for the service -- it's rare to find such kind people these days. We spent $66 for three people, which wasn't bad at all. read more

Amazing food and service, best Chinese food in town. Any house style dish is outstanding.

2 1/2 stars Tried this place for dinner on 6/13/24. We decided to orders some orange chicken, beef fried rice, steam rice and sweet & sour pork. Food here seems to be ok. We both thought the orange and the sweet & sour pork was cooked to long because it was really crispy. I found that the orange chicken tasted way better than the sweet and sour pork. My mistake when I ordered my dish was to have both the rice and sweet & sour pork together on the plate. I don't like when the rice is drenched with sauce. I couldn't really taste it because the pork was crispy and fried. Most of the sauce was with the rice. Overall food was ok and service was good and friendly. read more

Lived in Manteca for 3 years and this was the first time that I can say I actually liked the Chinese food. We got chow mein, orange chicken, Mongolian beef, salt & pepper shrimp and fried chicken. The lady at the counter was very nice and order was ready when we walked in. I will say the salt & pepper shrimp was a little too salty for my taste but I don't like a lot of salt so probably just me. read more

This place used to be great. The food was too salty, my husband ate a little then pushed the plate away. The food had an aftertaste really bad. The worst Chinese food I had. We had it to go so didn't know until we got home. I gave the food to my dogs except the shrimp. Shrimp was full of batter and a tiny shrimp. read more

I feel terrible leaving bad reviews for small business owners but this meal was one of my worst probably ever. So I would like to do the business a favor with feedback to hire a new chef. We ordered Szechuan chicken, chicken, fried rice, chicken, chow mein, and sesame beef. From the moment I opened my carry out containers I already knew it was going to be awful, the looks weren't even appealing. I proceeded with my first bite of the Szechuan chicken that was just crunchy, dry, chewy chicken- I couldn't stop chewing the chicken because it never broke down- I was debating on swallowing or spitting it out. Everything to follow was flavorless, not cooked to taste, very little sauce. I def will not be returning here. read more

This was my first time trying this restaurant, so I made sure to order a few staples to get a feel for it. I got an order of salt and pepper fish; the fish was cooked to perfection, it was flaky and glistening. Although, I did find myself wishing there was more salt, and pepper flavor. I also order broccoli beef, the broccoli was probably the best cooked I've ever had from any restaurant. Still a beautiful bright green with a slight crunch, and the beef was perfectly tender. Overall, I really appreciated how well everything was cooked, although it all came across as a little too "clean" tasting for my preferences. I love greasy, MSG-laden Chinese food. But I won't dock any points based on my personal tastes, especially considering the excellent cook on everything. If you're a normal person not veering down the path of needing to control your high blood pressure due to an overly sodium saturated diet, I would definitely recommend Hong Kong Restaurant just based on the level of cookery they showcased with my order. read more

First & last order. The fried rice & chow mein was good! But the fried chicken and shrimp were absolutely disgusting. All we could taste was the oil, the chicken tasted weird (old) we tossed it along with the shrimps. The egg drop soup was not egg drop it was a broth with like a jelly consistency & some floating pieces of egg whites also tossed. read more

I ate here with my girlfriend and we loved it! Amazing service, and we loved the feel of the place, very cozy. Definitely some of the best fried rice and chow mein I've had. I came yesterday in the afternoon to buy the orange chicken and fried rice, as soon as I took a few bites I knew something wasn't right, the greasy processed food gave me heartburn throughout my day at work and I felt terrible, had to go to Walmart afterwards to buy something to alleviate the pain in my chest, I'm only 23 years old and the pain in my chest was excruciating, 0/10 rating easily. read more

The waitress was really nice but the food was not so good. We ordered a family meal for 2 which came out to a Lil over $50. The food was brought out to us 1 plate at a time and it was barely Luke warm. First we got the chow main. Thick noodles, only 3 tiny pieces of pork and it was not tasty nor hot. Then we got the sweet and sour pork...no pineapple, no bell peppers just hard pieces of pork that looked and felt like it had been microwaved at least 3 times. Tough and hard to eat, again barely Luke warm. 15 min later we got the flour egg soup.. super hot but tasted awful. Then 15 minutes later we got our pot stickers. The bread on them was super dry and tasteless, we didn't eat them. A few minutes later she brought out what was supposed to be garlic chicken, it was 4 pieces of plain fried whole chicken that tasted like old chicken in some kind of tempura batter. Gross. After what seemed like forever, we asked about our fried rice, she had forgotten but quickly brought it out. Again it wasn't great and barely warm. We left and had to go through a drive through because we were still very hungry. Needless to say, we won't be back. Quick note, when you walk in there are empty boxes thrown everywhere and floor, doors, and counters are extremely dirty. read more

The garlic chicken was edible, greasy almost salty... and the crab ragoons were sweet? I don't what that was about, the fried rice was like a few days old rice, like uncle bens rice, no flavor no color, no good. read more

This place was great. The most friendly people. Very attentive. Large portions. Great food. Good price. Will definitely come back.

This was our first time eating here and we will definitely be back. I tried placing my order online through their website, but it would not complete and just left me hanging so I called in my order. The lady that answered the phone was very nice and easy to talk to. She said about 20 minutes for our order. They have a small parking lot, but there were spaces available. If you want to eat there they have about 6 tables available. We ordered on a Friday night so the tables were full and there were 5 other customers waiting to pick up their order. The young lady that answered the phone was the only person working the front for both to go orders and the seated customers. I felt so bad she was literally running around trying to keep up. It seemed that there were multiple people in the back, but she needs help out front. All orders were delayed as they were so busy, so it took about 30 minutes overall. We will come back, but just know it will be a little slow Sweet & Sour Prawns: Best dish we ordered. Comes with onions, green peppers and carrots Cashew Prawns: The prawns had no flavor, but the chopped veggies were great Broccoli Chicken: Threw the chicken out (looked like steamed pieces of chicken and was not tasty). Broccoli was steamed Hong Kong Fried Rice: Good flavor but a little dry Chicken Chow Mein: Delicious Beef with Onions: Good flavor, came with celery, onions and beef Veggies spring rolls: Good Pot Stickers: Did not like these, they are completely fried, not the usual soft pot stickers with fried bottoms. read more

After doing some Black Friday shopping, I stopped by to Hong Kong restaurant to try their won ton soup. Was really happy with what I got as the won ton soup was very flavorful. Monica was very helpful with her service, making sure my water was always topped off. Little small mom and pop restaurant with great staff. I decided to order a beef chow fun to go for later, definitely hit the spot. Will be back when I'm around the area and looking to eat Chinese food again. read more

Best Chinese food in town. Always fresh and never greasy or oily. Hard to find good places in M

Food is decent. One of the teenagers wolfed down the lemon chicken. The other barely touched the orange chicken and I tried it, it was just OK. My friend brought the broccoli beef and enjoyed it. About 1/3 beef to 2/3 broccoli. She says the broccoli was cooked just right and not hard to chew. I ordered Szechuan shrimp. I think I actually got salt and pepper shrimp. It was OK but there was at least as much batter as shrimp. It was soggy. The soup was good. My friend got egg flower and I got seafood and tofu. read more

Monica and her kids are so hospitable and precious. We felt like we had come to her home! Jayse her daughter is so helpful and ready to serve! The food was generous and really good. We ordered Hong Kong Fried rice, fried zucchini, chicken curry and asked if she could make orange beef, as they have orange chicken. She quickly said "no problem"! It was so good too! Everything was made fresh and tasted like it! Portions are very generous and we had two more meals from our leftovers! They were just as good the next day. Probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I already knew I was taking a risk ordering from Manteca. I placed my order via doordash. I ordered the garlic fried chicken, sesame balls, fried green beans, hot & sour soup and beef chow fun. The flavors were off and not authentic to how these dishes are supposed to taste. The garlic fried chicken came in a greasy paper bag and didn't have any flavor. The photo on doordash showed chicken wings but this was just big chunks of fried chicken. The fried green beans were literally tempura which is not a HK dish. I was hoping it would be dry fried string beans with garlic. The soup smelled really weird so I didn't even taste it. The beef chow fun was the most edible dish out of my order but it is not cooked the traditional way. Please don't waste your time, money or calories here. read more

Can't speak for their take out but the dine in experience was fantastic. We got the gourmet family dinner and everything was delicious. Great flavor, not too salty, very fresh. Not a single soggy vegetable. Everything was crispy and fresh. Same with the wonton and fried shrimp, crispy piping hot, not oily at all. We really enjoyed the wonton soup, the brother had a really savory flavor. Our waitress was super friendly and very accommodating. We left with two to go boxes full of food and to enjoy later lol My parents live in the area and they are definitely going to become regulars! Loved it read more

We found this restaurant on goggle and it said it was good. So we decided to give it a try, we went in there the service was excellent and the lady was very nice kept coming to check on us. We had ordered couples of items in the menu. We had ordered dry fried ribs and fried chicken. The dry fried ribs was very burn and old. Also the chicken was old as well.
