I decided to give this place a try despite the mixed reviews, but unfortunately my experience matched them. The pho broth was extremely salty. I asked for chili oil, hoping to add some spice, but was instead given a salty chili paste that only made the broth even saltier. I ordered the short rib pho, and when I cut into the meat, it was ice cold in the center. It seemed like the short rib had been pre-cooked, refrigerated, and added to the soup without being fully reheated. The meatballs were also very hard and overly salty. I ordered for dine in: egg coffee, lemongrass chili chicken rice, and egg rolls. I am 50% sure that these were 2 different egg rolls, 1 meat and the other veggie although I had ordered the meat one. The first meat one was definitely overcooked. Almost like it was cooked, sat around for a long time and refried. It's because the interior was dry and tough. The other one that seemed to be a veggie one looked completely different on the inside and was much more moist and softer. The lemongrass chili chicken rice looked completely different than the picture in the menu. In the menu it looks like a sauce less stir fry but when it came out it was a more wet dish where the sauce drowns out any chili lemongrass flavors. Its sauce was more reminiscent of like a broccoli beef. I will say LARGE portions though so can't complain there. It definitely wasn't a bad dish but different than I had expected. The egg coffee was strong and creamy but a tad thick and mostly ice tbh. I ordered the grilled pork chop and shrimp spring rolls to go for my parents and they enjoyed both. We were in the area needing to charge our car and eat dinner. There's a charging station right next to this cute place .... Perfect. I ordered a grilled beef banh mi and egg roll. The prices are amazing .... Shocking in this economy. I was super excited to try their version of my favorite Sammy. They are very generous with the meat and vegetables!!! That was a plus. I will say the roll is too bready and we ate it from the top (like you would corn) instead of from the ends for that reason. Also, it was a bit dry.... More spread, please. I've eaten a fair amount of VietNamese food, from Philadelphia to Orlando to San Jose. San Jose has the best VietNamese food in the country. In Manteca, there are a few choices and none lately have been good for me, so I have high hopes for this restaurant. As this was the first day, things were not as well coordinated as they will be later. I saw plenty of people working the dining room and taking food to the tables. It's a very large dining room and I expected that all of the tables would be occupied, even around 3 in the afternoon. Someone arrived at the front desk but he was busy. It took a bit. When he got to me, he looked and told me to sit at the second table. I did exactly that, but he wasn't exactly friendly. First day jitters I guessed that he was having. Someone came to the table with the menu and he reminded me of the martial artist Bolo Yeung from the 1980s. He asked if I wanted ice water but I replied "iced tea". These days, getting typical, old-style iced tea might be difficult. I looked around the place and the worn floor seemed to have been replaced and everything from the floor to the ceiling looked great. In a few minutes, he was back with the tea. He asked if I was ready to order, but he didn't have his pad. He returned quickly. I ordered a couple of things I'd never had: Banh Mi Nuong Hai San (Shrimp toast) and Com Tom Nuong (rice and grilled shrimp). The prices seemed very reasonable, especially since another place seemed to be charging for the renovations. After a while, the grilled shrimp dish arrived and some dipping sauce. I had almost finished my iced tea by then. I asked about the appetizer and that took a while longer. Everything I tried was prepared well and good, but the shrimp toast was not something I'd order again. I'll probably try everything else on the menu anyway. The curry looked especially good. I liked the food, but there was not much and my final total, even with an 18% tip only came to $22.84. I will buy more food next time. Staff was helpful, but with it being the first day, things didn't go exactly the way anyone hoped, I'm sure. I needed more to drink, whether it was tea or water. I appreciate the first day confusion. I have a feeling they'll be fine. Try to ignore the misspellings on the menu. They have a lot to offer. read more

We stopped by this new spot on 3/29, the second day of their grand opening, around 1pm. We used to frequent the previous Vietnamese restaurant in this location, and my husband especially loved their pho, so he was excited to give this new place a try. The menu offered a good variety of options. My husband ordered pho and fish sauce chicken wings, and I initially went for the pork banh mi. However, I was told they were already out of pork, which felt surprising given it was only their second day open. I decided to try the crab fried rice instead, but about 10 minutes later, a staff member came back to let me know they had also run out of crab. At that point, I was a bit confused as to how multiple key menu items were unavailable so early in the day, so I ended up ordering the combination fried rice. The wait time was longer than expected. When the food finally arrived, I was honestly surprised by the portion size of the fried rice--it was quite small for the $15-16 price point. We also noticed our fish sauce wings hadn't come out with the rest of the food, so my husband had to follow up. When they did arrive, I literally laughed to see only three small skinny wings, which was a bit underwhelming. The only thing i liked was the vietnamese coffee. My husband tried the pho broth before adding any fixings and was unfortunately very disappointed. He described it as bland and lacking the depth of flavor he was hoping for. Overall, the experience didn't quite meet our expectations. I'm glad they're offering 20% off during their grand opening month, because based on our experience, I wouldn't feel comfortable paying full price for the food we received. I ordered the cơm bò lúc lắc (shaking beef), and it was delicious! The beef was very tender, and the portion was pretty big (at least for me). I think they just opened, so they might need a little more time to get everything perfect. But the service was really nice. My friend ordered the phở (I didn't get a picture), and she said the broth was amazing. I also got some broth on the side, and it was so good--definitely different from other Vietnamese restaurants. I recently stopped in Manteca to charge my EV and accidentally discovered a newly opened spot called Pho Viet Kitchen--and I'm so glad I did! I ordered pho for my husband and daughter, and beef stew (bò kho) for myself. The pho was absolutely delicious. The broth was cooked perfectly, rich, and full of authentic flavor. You can really taste the care that goes into it, and the meat quality was excellent. The bò kho is also a must-try. For those who enjoy traditional Vietnamese style, the combination of tendon and brisket adds great texture and keeps the dish from feeling too heavy. But if you prefer not to have tendon, just let the staff know--they're more than happy to customize your order, and they do it with an incredibly friendly attitude. I also highly recommend the appetizers--especially the egg rolls and shrimp tempura. My daughter loved them so much she asked for extra...twice! The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive. The restaurant itself is newly opened, so it's spacious, clean, and comfortable. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. I'll definitely be coming back again and again. NOTE: Long review ahead. We didn't take pictures because we're not "food photo people," and honestly, I didn't expect to be writing a whole pho saga today. My fiancé and I were excited to try this new pho spot in Manteca -- we've been loving all the new places opening up. I saw on Facebook that it was their grand opening weekend (3/28) with 20% off, so we went on 3/29 after coming back from a long camping trip. We were tired, dusty, and in desperate need of a "pho resets my soul" moment. We arrived around 6:30pm. It was busy but not chaotic, maybe eight tables full, and we were seated right away. Waters came fast, and we checked out the menu. The menu looked nice, but you could definitely tell it was AI‑generated. No shade, just an observation. We ordered shrimp spring rolls and two combination phos. Shrimp Spring Rolls: These took about 20 minutes to arrive, and when they did... surprise, pork. Yes, the menu listed pork, but we specifically asked for shrimp only. We still ate them because we were starving, and they tasted fine -- just small. Like "blink and you'll miss it" small. I'm used to spring rolls with a little more confidence in their size, but these were more on the shy side. Pho: About 15 minutes later, the pho came out. I'm pretty sure they only have one size, and that size is "hope you like noodles." There were so many noodles that the meat was basically hiding underneath like it owed someone money. My fiancé's bowl had so many noodles that the broth was almost completely gone. The broth flavor itself was decent, but the noodle overload made it cloudy and gave it a slightly sour, starchy taste. Not exactly the comforting bowl of pho we were craving. Our appetite dipped, but we powered through because we were hungry and already committed. Service: Service was... fine. Not bad, not great. Just "yep, that's service." A few things stood out though: - No utensils came with our food -- had to ask. - Only sriracha, hoisin, and maybe chili sambal were on the table. I had to ask for chili oil, and they brought out a small plate of chili crisp from the kitchen (which was actually tasty). - We asked for water refills and extra broth. We put both empty cups together at the edge of the table. The waitress came back and filled one cup... then walked away. We had to call her back like, "Hey, don't forget me." - The table next to us was visibly annoyed -- their order got messed up twice, and their pho came with no veggies and no utensils. The staff did fix it, but the whole vibe felt like "we're still figuring things out." Price & Discount: The bill was almost $40. We get it -- eating out is expensive -- but $18 for a bowl of pho is wild, especially when the broth is MIA. When I asked about the 20% discount, the guy was literally on his phone, barely looked up, and said it was already applied. The math said otherwise. At that point, I just paid and didn't leave a tip because I'm pretty sure we didn't get the discount at all. Final Thoughts: We came in with low expectations because it's opening weekend -- mistakes happen, totally understandable. But calling it a grand opening without a soft opening... yeah, you could feel it. The staff needs more training, the kitchen needs to chill on the noodle portions, and the whole operation needs a little more structure so the servers aren't taking the heat for things out of their control. Food was overpriced for what we got, and the experience wasn't great. We won't be back anytime soon, but hopefully they improve because Manteca could really use more solid pho spots. read more

The waiter was friendly. I ordered appetizers and our dish. The appetizers arrived in a reasonable time and than followed behind with our selection of plate. The egg rolls were small and honestly not appealing. My pho was mediocre, didn't have a good substance of taste to it. I ordered the chicken pho and was disappointed with the lack of chicken pieces in it, but it was packed with noodles. Believe the negative reviews. My husband and I both got a large rare steak pho. The "large" bowl was smaller compared to the previous owners and it was all noodles with very little broth. We ordered shrimp spring rolls which were also smaller compared to previous owners and the wrap felt hard like it was sitting out and not made fresh (hope that makes sense), the shrimp spring rolls also had a lot of mint in them (very minty/strong taste) and the peanut sauce was very watery. I had order a Thai tea that was not very good (that was a first), I almost wanted to have it remade but didn't bother. I was looking forward to this place opening, but both times I've been there has been disappointing. The bread for the Banh mi sandwich was so dry it was hard to swallow.. And perhaps the most disappointing was the curry. The pic on the menu shows it packed full of tofu and other stuff, but what came to the table was just a bowl of curry broth with 4 pieces of shrimp inside... and one of those wasn't even de-shelled. Imagine my surprise when I bit into that one. Other than the 4 shrimp, there was NOTHING in the bowl.. they did bring a side of bean sprouts and cabbage, but the server said that was for the pho dish my be was eating.. so yeah, I'm extremely disappointed. That curry looked nothing like the pic.. it was like the difference between a pic of a McDonalds burger and the real thing. Then I asked for some hot tea, and instead of a small glass of cup, they gave me a to-go cup with a lid.. my bf's pho looked good tho. I wish I had taken a pic of the food. Came here today with my wife and we weren't impressed at all. For one, I ordered "beef dumplings" and received either pork or chicken. My wife ordered crab ragoons for $6.99 and only received 4. We didn't understand why none of the food had descriptions in the menu and also realized the whole menu is AI generated. For our main dishes, I ordered a large build your own pho bowl and my wife got a grilled beef banh mi. My "large" bowl was way smaller than the previous owners large bowl and was mostly made up of noodles. There was so much noodles that when I lifted them up I realized less than half of the bowl was filled with actual broth. I couldn't even get the sauce into the broth because there was so much noodles and so little broth. I actually had to ask our waitress (who was nice) to bring out a side of broth because I had pretty much ran out before I even started eating the mountain of noodles. My wife's banh mi had barely any meat and hardly any vegetables/dry pate. You couldn't taste anything because there was too much bread and not enough fillings. All in all, I hope they're just going through growing pains of running a restaurant because I see similar experiences happening to multiple people on their reviews.
