Came to Kisoya for dinner and tried to place an order at the register around 8:35 pm, but unfortunately had a disappointing experience. When we approached the counter and ready/waiting to place our order, the employee (young lady) informed my husband somewhat passive-aggressively that there wouldn't be enough time to eat comfortably since they were nearing closing. What was frustrating is that they were still open, and there were several tables with customers actively dining. It felt like she simply didn't want our business. If there's a cutoff time for ordering, that should be clearly communicated or posted so customers don't waste their time making the trip. We ended up leaving without eating, which was really disappointing. We could have even ordered our food to go but after that interaction, we decided to take our business elsewhere. Definitely room for improvement when it comes to customer experience.

Tobikodon Tonkatsu Set

My fiance was craving Japanese Curry since we had it in Taiwan, and so we hunted this place down. It was very very tasty. The portions were very big. Loved how crispy the tonkatsu is and the curry was very flavorful / just what we were craving. My Tobikodon Tonkatsu Set came with udon soup, hot stone bibimbap, rice, pickles, and crispy tonkatsu. The tonkatsu curry rice dish had a perfectly crispy pork cutlet over rice with a rich, curry sauce. It's counter service - so just order at the counter and take a seat. When you're done you just return the tray at the tray return area. And we went at lunch so the whole place was bright and clean and casual. Everything was super comforting and flavorful. Would definitely come back!

Tonkotsu Ramen

Kisoya is a casual Japanese restaurant serving ramen, udon, and katsu. This is a no tip restaurant with plenty of seating. The service was fine. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen. Unfortunately, I was not a fan. The broth had so many bean sprouts and was extremely clear so it tasted really healthy, which might work for other people but for me it kind of tasted watery. I wanted that rich, creamy broth that comes with tonkotsu ramen. The egg was also very plain. It seems like the katsu is a popular dish here so I would potentially come back to try it, but I would steer clear of the ramen.

Love Kisoya! It is quite out the way being in Suwanee, but it is worth the drive for the price and amount of food you get. I order the number one/Tonkatsu plate every time and it doesn't miss. The katsu is huge. It comes with udon, rice and salad--I sub my salad for rice. All for $16! Service is quick and easy. Ambiance is nice, with plentiful seating as well. Definitely worth the try!

Wooooooow, my ramen was so delicious!! Not sure what kind of meat it was but it tasted absolutely delicious. It was perfect, every bite got better. I got #22 and my bf #13 i think (chicken curry) Everything tasted amazing, 10/10

Got the roe bibimbap and pork Katsu. The Katsu was SO good! It's a large serving. The pork was nice and juicy. The dipping sauce paired very well. The rice was cooked nice and fluffy. All the toppings were cut small and had a nice mouth feel. Everything was great! You ordered at the counter and return your own dish. Everything you order also comes out to an even dollar which is cool! Decor was minimalistic- very modern Japanese inspired! Would be a nice lunch place to go to.

I had lunch at Kisoya for the first time and noticed that the self-service system seems to be a growing trend amid today's intense restaurant competition. We ordered two katsu lunch boxes along with two different udon dishes. The katsu was excellent, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. My kimchi udon, however, leaned a bit too sweet and salty, as if the seasoning was intentionally made bold to enhance the flavor, but it ended up being slightly overpowering for my taste. Overall, it was still a satisfying meal with a strong highlight on the katsu.

Craved Kisoya for lunch today and got the original tonkatsu set. It came with udon soup, rice, and cabbage salad. Everything was super fresh and nicely plated. The katsu had a really good crunch and wasn't oily at all, and the udon broth was light but flavorful. You order at the front and they call your number to pick up at the window. I thought it was an easy and quick system. The place itself is super clean and well kept, and the workers were so nice and friendly. Overall a great little self-service spot if you're craving katsu. Would definitely come back!

I had seen this place on my Instagram and was so intrigued to go to a no tip Japanese restaurant !! When you arrive you are in a busy shopping center with tons of businesses and shops! Parking can be a hassle because of how busy it is but there is a good amount! Upon entering you are in a cute little restaurant that almost looks like a cafeteria! You only have to talk to a server to place your order and they had a very nice menu full of so many good choices! I ordered a chicken katsu plate and my husband got pork katsu curry! We were handed a beeper for when our order was ready. They have plenty of seating, so we found a nice place with comfy chairs and waited for our order to be done. The wait was maybe about 15 minutes as it was busy but once it was ready we went over to hand our beeper and grab our trays of food. They portions were HUGE and I wasn't expecting so much food for $16!! The food was absolutely amazing and the best amount of food. You get a mini udon soup, bowl of rice, main plate of food and some dipping sauce. The chicken katsu was so moist and full of flavor. The portions were great. The rice was soft and fluffy, and my favorite was the soup! So much flavor for something so simple! Once you're done you just take your tray to a window and you're all done! Overall, i was thoroughly impressed and this place is a new fave.

I love udon and the udon here was amazing. I got the kimichi udon combo. The broth was spicy and delicious and the side of katsu was was crisp and flavorful. The serving size was generous and I took half home for dinner. The shop was really cute with plenty of seating.

Look for this sign and you'll see the walkway set back for the entrance.

Popped in here for a quick last minute dinner choice with my parents. They've been here before, but I have not. This is located in the same plaza as ASSI, but it is in a corner that is set a little back from the store fronts. Ground floor, check for a tiny "alley" and you'll see it. Parking is available but at times busy so be ready to look for a spot when lots of people are around. Walking in, the interior is very clean, inviting, and easy to find seating (we went later around 7). They're open until 9 so it's a great spot for quick on the go eating! This is considered fast casual, where you order your food and then they give you a beeper to announce when you're food is ready. The menu is not large, they focus on Tonkatsu (pork cutlets), udon, and dishes like Korean spicy rice cakes, kurobuta sausage, shrimp tempura, takoyaki and okonomiyaki (Japan). You can order combo meals that offer you noodle soup and a side pork cutlet that's very well executed. I went with the cheese tonkatsu tteokbokki, which was a pork cutlet that came with spicy rice cakes and cheese on the top. I debated going with curry ramen or curry combo but I had it earlier last week. The tonkatsu was well executed, panko breadcrumbs are shatteringly crunchy, and the sauce you get with it was not given because the rice cakes sauce was plenty. The dish was not very spicy, nor sweet. It felt a little Americanized, which I understand since it can be very spicy. It came with a side of Japanese radish, and a small Udon noodle bowl with seaweed. A lot of food, tough to finish unless you're super hungry. 3 people ate for $49, no gratuity since I believe the pricing they charge allows them to pay their employees wages beyond the nominal server hourly rate then depend on tips to make up the rest. Enjoyable, good service, and well executed. Support small businesses!

Welcome to Kisoya

Kisoya was a hidden gem--literally! We had a little trouble finding it at first since it's tucked behind a pillar, but after calling, the owner or manager kindly came out to greet us and walk us in. That gesture alone set the tone for the rest of the visit--warm, attentive, and welcoming. They knew it was our first time and gave thoughtful recommendations, which we really appreciated. My husband ordered the King Tonkatsu, and I had the cold Saba noodles with a side of Tonkatsu--both were delicious! The flavors were clean, fresh, and well-balanced. Loved the fresh side of radish and yummy wasabi! One suggestion: it might be helpful to have a couple more trash cans around the dining area. We and a few other guests found ourselves looking for one, though they do have a designated area to dump trays and food waste, which was neat and organized. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Kisoya and will be back.

10. Cold Soba Donkatsu Set
Ellen K.

Kisoya is a great casual spot for katsu, udon, and soba. It's self-service and no tipping, which keeps things simple. The katsu was crispy without being too greasy, and the portion was generous. I really liked the cold soba--the noodles were super bouncy and the broth was refreshing.

The gyoza was delicate and flavorful, and it held together nicely. The soup was quite savory. At first I thought there might not have been enough sliced pork in there but by the time I reached the end of my meal I was very satisfied with the portion. I also like how the carryout bag included everything I needed: sauce for the gyoza, salad dressing, a napkin and flatware. I went out of my way to come here and I'm happy I did.

I wouldn't say you need a reservation on a normal occasion, and the people here are pretty nice. We specifically only came for their Demon Slayer collab spoons, and thankfully, they had some! We didn't realize until we were there that you MUST order the Tokyo Yatai Classic to receive a blind spoon though. We weren't interested in the promo ramen, but we ordered it anyway. And as expected, it was alright. We ate it, but it wasn't anything to write home about. It's only getting a Yelp review bc I liked their apps. The appetizers I've had were much better than the ramen, even outside of this one instance with their promotional ramen. If I wanted ramen, it wouldn't be here, but for a quick bite or many small plates... maybe. The eggplant and brussels sprouts were probably my favorite of what I had, and it's all due to the miso soy marinade. It masked some bitterness with sweetness. If I were to come again, it'll have to be during happy hour. That's the only time I feel it's worth coming for.
