I invited one of my best friends to eat at umiado and he loved it so much. The food was on point absolutely delish. The service was very quick and on point as well.. My best friend said the ramen took him back when he visited Japan last year which I think is a very high compliment.. He absolutely loved the food and so did I.. I enjoyed it a lot. Thr ambiance was very cool we both loved the way the restaurant was set up.. I will definitely be back.

Umaido is a hole in the wall restaurant serving Japanese food including ramen, rice bowls, and curry. The inside has a traditional aesthetic Japanese design, but is a little cramped. It was not that busy when I arrived and the service was very friendly and attentive! We got the Ultra Spicy Ramen and Tonkotsu Ramen. My boyfriend really likes this place, mostly for the Ultra Spicy Ramen. I got my go-to ramen at any Japanese restaurant... the Tonkotsu Ramen! I found the noodles to be a bit stale and the broth to be saltier than I wanted. However, I did enjoy the soft boiled egg (the yolk was runny) and the chashu! Overall, I think Umaido is just alright. I would probably give this restaurant a 3.5/5 stars if I could. I want to come back and try other items on their menu, such as their appetizers which I see people rave about on here.

A small hole-in-the-wall Japanese place with good ramen and okay rice dishes. We waited a bit for a table since the place is small. I ordered the shrimp katsu curry, and it came in decent quantity, but the curry was way too thin. The flavor was good and the shrimp well fried, but the curry fell short. My other friends enjoyed their ramen, though it's the kind with thin noodles.

Ordered the Chaysu Don and the Hirata Bao. Both were delicious. The flavors were bursting with sweet, savory, and creamy from the mayo drizzle. My only con is that they used pork belly instead of a lean pork because the leaner the meat, the less flavorful.

Decent food, vibes, and service when i went last month. Hit or miss on the side dishes; they aren't always available. 7/10

Shoot! Ever wanted to really enjoy something based on the positive reviews and it just didn't pan out? It was that! As far as curry goes, this is more like Umakunaido. The curry was super thin, overly sweet, and the pork katsu was way overcooked. Ya, if you speak Japanese you'll understand that カレー味は良くなかった。とても残念でした. It was also like a sauna in there. The staff were super friendly but it wasn't enough for me to even be able to finish my dinner.

One of the very first spots my boyfriend took me and quickly became my absolute favorite ramen place. We go with friends all the time. I have tried many places from chain restaurants to hole-in-the-wall spots and nothing tops this place. I'd wait an hour just for this. If we ever can't pick a place to eat and Umaido is recommended it's an easy yes for both of us. Please never change anything about the level one ramen.

Nice Asian restaurant, Japanese style food, top 5 asian restaurants in Duluth area, nice family ambience, friendly service with young people, good restrooms area, many drink and foor options, we ordered some sushi and ramen plates, amazing flavors, japanese beers are good too. Definitely a must try restaurant.

I haven't been here in a while but this place never disappoint. I ordered spicy ramen level 3 with extra noodles. It was on point but next time I'm going to up the spicy level. There's usually a wait but I picked the right time and was seated right away. The ambiance is right up my alley. Overall, I like this place and will keep it in my restaurant foodie rotation. Cheers!

I came in here with a friend last Saturday for a hearty lunch. My friend likes this place so I had decent expectations. I love ramen, so a good bowl makes my day. The place does not have a LOT of seating so be prepared to wait a tad bit during busy days. We had to wait for 10 mins and then we had a spot at a communal style table. We were quickly given water and we had to scan the QR code to see the menu. The Spicy Miso interested me and my friend got the Tonkotsu. It took about 15 minutes for the ramen bowls to arrive and it looked DELICIOUS! Honestly, it was good. The egg, the broth, and the whole concoction tasted great. I just feel that it wasn't really spicy. And the oomph or hearty factor was a lil missing. The price point wasn't too bad. The portions were typical too.

Had a great first time experience with Alley at Umaido! He was so great with his recommendations and patient while we talked about all the options! Very attentive and nice!

Tonkotsu Ramen with extra pork belly and fried onions. Level 2 spice.

Not going to write a novel. They're consistently good. Try them I'd be surprised at your disappointment

Decatur Rd. at a very busy intersection, it sits tucked into a tiny shopping center, blink and you will drive right past it. Parking is limited, and you can immediately tell the small lot fills up fast, especially during peak hours. I stumbled upon Tenya while in town on a Tuesday, scrolling Yelp in search of a solid lunch spot, and I'm glad I did. This is a family-owned Japanese eatery that specializes in comfort food, and according to their website, everything is made from scratch, which absolutely shows in the quality. I placed my order online and picked it up with ease. I ordered the Shrimp Saku Saku appetizer along with a fresh garden Tenya salad. The shrimp were excellent, perfectly crispy with a flavorful panko coating that didn't feel heavy or greasy. The salad was impressively fresh and came with their house-made ginger dressing, which paired beautifully with the crisp greens and added just the right balance of sweetness and tang. Inside, the restaurant is quaint and cozy, with a decent amount of seating for its size. The customer service was warm and welcoming; the lady at the counter greeted me kindly and had my order ready shortly after I arrived, making the pickup process smooth and pleasant. A nice bonus is the selection of packaged Japanese snacks and drinks available at the counter, always a fun touch and something you don't see everywhere. Next time, I plan to dine in and explore more of the menu, along with sampling some of those snacks and drinks. Tenya is a great example of simple, thoughtfully prepared food done right. I'll definitely be back.
