I've been to this spot a few times and it's always a hit. I usually get the tonkutsu ramen which is always very filling and flavorful. The service is always spectacular as well. A must try!
When you put a peice of chicken in your mouth and it taste SPOILED. This is my 2nd or 3rd time ordering from here and I'm HIGHLY disappointed. SPOILED chicken is a PROBLEM.
Not bad, not outstanding either. Ngl the flavor is a bit disappointing. Contrary to its appearance, it doesn't have such a strong flavor in the broth nor does the garlic. Also serving a skinny piece of spoon that looks like it's gonna melt inside the soup is a terrible idea. However, it seems to be universal decision for all the restaurants in there as they also serve this kind of disposable spoons. The short rib is greasy, the deep frying didn't make it crispy but only oily. I just wish they can make the flavor stronger.
Located inside the Tokyo Kuma. It's a great place for Ramen. The menu gives you a variety of choices from soups to Rolls. The prices are reasonable and the portions are filling. The food is prepared to order with fresh ingredients. The food comes out fast and hot
Our go to place for the last couple years for our quick ramen fix. Decently price with a generous portion. Broth is not necessarily michelin but it's very good considering it's in a Chinese market food court. My favorite is the pork cutlet ramen. A rich bowl of ramen with all the classic toppings and a side of perfectly fried pork cutlet. A little mayo for dipping. My husband's go to is the rib ramen. Each order comes with two juicy fried pork ribs immersed in a bowl of goodness. I've seen some people order an extra rib but you'll definitely be full without. What I love about this place is the fact that it's obviously family owned and the chef does seem to care about what is produced. Every visit we can assume our orders will be consistent as our previous visits. Also that every dish comes with the classic toppings; sprouts, mushrooms, corn, bamboo, naruto, including half a soft boiled egg. Most places charge extra for any toppings which can add up. Overall a great place to satisfy your ramen craving. Especially if you're not trying to spend $20 for a bowl of ramen with no toppings.
I would highly recommend the Pork Rib Ramen! The ribs were the star of the meal. The Black Kumai ramen (with black garlic broth) had much better broth, so if they could make the Pork Rib ramen with black garlic broth, that would be 10 out of 5 stars! The ribs were quite salty but well-seasoned, which balanced out the less salty, less hearty broth it came with. Noodles were cooked perfectly and I'd definitely come back for the rib ramen. Annoyingly, they charge 50 cents for hot sauce, which isn't that spicy. :/
Fairly inexpensive place to go for some ramen. Located inside Jusgo Market. Kind of a smaller food court area. It's usually not very busy during the weekdays for lunch so if you don't want to go to the higher volume restaurants, this would be a nice option. They have a variety of ramen to choose from and allow additional toppings to be added. Staff is friendly and will assist those who are curious about the different menu items.
We loved the ramen so much!! The broth for the fried chicken cutlet is so delicious. It's a creamy savory broth if that's your thing! Only thing is my boyfriend had a much bigger bowl than I did for his spicy ramen. Not sure why but I was def jealous he had well more broth. He seems to think I had well more noodles too. So I lacked broth and he lacked noodles. But other than that I would come here again no prob.
I really wanted to like this place. It was a rainy day and Ramen sounded really good. Based on all the pretty good reviews, I was very optimistic. Now, I hope for their sake I got them on a reeeeally bad day for them, because my experience and all the reviews makes me think this is not the same place. Kumai Ramen is located in a shopping center/plaza place with a food court feel on the inside. I walked in and it did not smell good. Not in a 'many different foods being cooked' kind of way; more of a standing water/almost sewer type smell in the air. Located the stall which belonged to the restaurant and you could hear people in the back, but there was no one out front. Took the time to look over the menu again. It looks really good and my mouth was watering. When we finally got someone out there, I ordered the Spicy Chicken Ramen which (per the lady who took our order) was the exact same as the Tonkotsu but with chicken. My friend got Tonkotsu and we got an order of Gyoza to share. The prices in person are higher than the prices published online, but still pretty reasonable. All the food came out at the same time. I noticed right away that my broth didn't really look like the picture. So points lost on presentation, but to me the real test is in the taste. I then noticed that it wasn't steamy the way Ramen should be. Matter of fact, it was just barely warm! The broth was just... basic! No body to it, yes well salted, but that was the extent of the seasoning. No real flavor to it. Basically like a bouillon broth. The absolute WORST part was the chicken: it was COLD!! Not like it had been sitting out, but like it had been in the refrigerator and they just sliced it up and chucked it in the broth! Plus it tasted like basic boiled chicken. I could not believe what I was eating. I really tried, but I could not do more than a few bites of the noodles themselves. Tossed almost the entire bowl, I was so disgusted. The 1 star is for the gyoza, but then it comes pre-made these days so that is not a challenging feat.
Located in a supermarket, this ramen shop does a great job with authentic Japanese flavors. I ordered the Takoyaki ( squid balls) great flavor with plenty of large squid pieces. Followed by the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen and my hubby got the regular fried Pork cutlet Ramen. We both enjoyed our dishes and at 10.00 you can't beat the price! Egg was cooked well, aka soft opaque center, broth flavorful and plentiful enough to order noodles and cabbage to go home and have a second meal the next day. We will definitely be back when we are around tha
Since I was not raised with a diet that included ramen as a child, I had very little expectation of what it is supposed to taste like. I know what people tell me authentic real ramen should be, but I'm not bound to those parameters. While I am totally satisfied with the fusion-style ramen @ PaoPao Ramen Factory in Buford, Georgia with its richly flavored ingredients, I came here in hopes of something different, but still not traditional. I don't tend to find traditional ramen appealing or flavorful. I did a yelp ramen search of the area and came across my friend Christina K's review describing the Pork Rib Ramen bowl here and I was instantly sold!!! I was in my car and walking in the front door in less than a half hour. Kumai Ramen is located in the JUSGO INTERNATIONAL FOOD COURT & farmers market that I believe was once an Ashley Furniture store, where my wife and I purchased some of our very first pieces of furniture as a married couple over two decades ago. So funny how times change and places evolve. 22 years ago, I had an apartment near here and EVERY BUSINESS in the immediate area was once something different. But I was pleased to see how this particular location is getting a fantastic new life. [ THE FOOD ] What captured me in Christina's review was this: "The ramen was very good, the broth was rich and it was obviously made from scratch over a period of time. It came with 3 thick, generous, fall off the bone ribs - absolutely delicious!" While I only had two bones, they were extremely meaty! The bowl was larger than I expected, leaving me full and satisfied at the end of my meal. I also ordered the fried oysters which were very meaty and came with a delicious dipping sauce. The entire atmosphere of the food court was exciting to me, like a tour of Asia. So exciting in fact that I brought my wife & youngest son back a few days later and we explored some of the other restaurants and their offerings (reviews coming soon). [FINAL THOUGHTS ] OVERALL I was very pleased with my food selections and will likely upgrade this review from 4 stars to 5 once I've had to opportunity to try other items on the menu. PaoPao is still my favorite ramen restaurant, but I get a feeling this place is going to give them a run for their money! ENJOY! 2020 /84
A Japanese ramen shop that appears to be owned by someone that is Chinese. We ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen and the deep fried squid. The spicy tonkotsu does not resemble the last hundreds of bowl of tonkotsu ramen I have eaten. It has a weird resemblance of a spicy Chinese noodle soup if that even make sense. The flavor was just off. We couldn't finish it. The chashu tastes like chinese bbq pork. The only thing that came out right was the perfectly cooked egg. The deep fried squid was crunchy enough to our liking, but we thought the portion is fairly small. Overall I cannot recommend this ramen place to my ramen lover friends.
I like it, but not in the typical ramen ya kinda way. The broth is good, so are the toppings, but the noodles are different. They use yellow, egg noodles , and not the normal ramen type. Its different, not bad different, but sometimes it hard to adjust your expectations. I think this place has tremendous potential. If they would make their own noodles, I think this place would be a winner. hmmmm.. I wonder if I can make my own noodles and bring em here...
I really like coming to this food court because of all the different options. Today I tried Kumai Ramen for the first time and it was just ok. The broth wasn't bad but it did lack flavor. Also I order it in extra spicy and it was mild at best. The service was good and the food hall was crowded as always. Overall I'll try this place again but I won't order the ramen. read more
So the hubs wanted ramen, and here we are at this place. And yay for it also being on my bookmarked list. And it didn't disappoint: Kumai chicken ramen. The broth had a nice bodied flavor. The noodles to my surprise had a nice chew. I'm not sure if these were freshly made noodles, but it had that chew consistency. The only thing I wish they had more of was the chicken. There was a healthy amount but not abundant. Though the hubs did point out that there wasn't a lot of toppings, I beg to differ. The corn, bamboo, and other tidbits of stuff were enough for me. He only thought there could have been more of each serving. Even half of the egg seemed rather reasonable with the egg prices skyrocketing nowadays. Though Kumai Ramen is in the food court of Jusgo Supermarket, the quality wasn't lacking. read more

Kumai is situated in the food court, and for what it is... it's not bad. We would have checked out another ramen shop, but this spot was the only opened at the time we were in town. I do want to say though, it's not all rainbow and sunshine for this spot as with every restaurant there's some downsides of places. I think the only downsides of this place primarily was because it took a while to get our order. I ordered the fried pork cutlet ramen and at first I was hoping that the cutlet was not going to be served in the ramen as well because that would have been very disappointing. Happily though, the cutlet was served separately with some Mayo on top. The broth of the ramen wasn't too salty and I thought it was pretty tasty. My broth wasn't too salty, it was pretty creamy, but I thought it went well and together it fulfilled my ramen cravings. It gave me the chance to eat one at a time, first the ramen and then finish it up with the cutlet. Overall, this place is not a bad food court spot. Even if you don't want to eat ramen, there's a ton of other choices to eat at. But, if it's ramen this spot is the only place for you. read more

The ramen is really good. I love the texture. The soup broth is very rich and flavorful. You can distinctly tell the difference between broths. The black ramen was extremely garlicky which I loved but it was kind of greasy. The egg was a little salty but paired well with the rich soup. Although it's in a supermarket the ramen here is sooo good. So warm and comforting. read more
Considering Kumai is located in a food court of a grocery store, the ramen here is pretty decent. I went with my family, and we all ordered different ramens. The prices here were comparable to other ramen locations, service is quick, and portion sizes are good. I think that all their regular ramen dishes are good- properly seasoned and cooked well, but their spicy ramens definitely need work. Two of us ordered a spicy ramen (different ones), and we found that our ramen was very bland but really oily. It wasn't spicy whatsoever. I think they tried to make it spicy by adding either sauces or something else, but it just didn't work and instead made the broth oily. Somehow that made all the difference and made neither of us want to finish our ramen. The rest of my family tried ours and agreed that the spicy ones weren't any good at all. Even the noodles weren't cooked well. Other than the spicy ones, I'd definitely say give this place a shot! It's a good quick eat if you're in the area. read more

I love kumai ramen and it is my go to spot for ramen here in the Gwinnett area, but today I will be talking about their nuggets. Kumai is also my go to spot for chicken nuggets as it is always warm, juicy, tender, with a great flavor whether if you want to eat it plain straight up or dip in their sauce. Along with the great flavor profile, I also really love how the texture and consistency is like that of a fish cake. What goes well with chicken nuggets? Boba. And There is a ViVi bubble tea in the same food hall or go next door for unbelibubble. read more

I'm no ramen expert, but this was very authentic and delicious! My first time trying tonkotsu ramen. The soft egg was amazing! It has a nice spice level, not too hot. I can't wait to visit again! It's actually inside the grocery store. They have a little food court... read more

I got the spicy tonkotsu ramen. I like the flavorful broth and the noodles in the in the ramen. The noodles were the right thickness and it was soft. My cousin got the minced prom tan tan ramen and that was also good. I like that the ramen broth for each one tastes different and was not the same broth with different ingredients in it. The portion of noodle was also worth it. It was not pricey for a good portion. read more
Kumai is located inside the Jusgo supermarket food court. They have $10 minimum if you want to use your card, just keep that in mind. So Jusgo serves traditional ramen (tonkatsu, soy, miso, etc.). They off a few other non ramen dishes as well. The food here has a Chinese twist to it even though it's based on Japanese cuisine. Not necessarily fusion. For example, the chili peppers they use on the Spicy Tonkatsu have a similar spice you would find in other Chinese dishes. Speaking of which the ramen here is very good. The broth is rich and full of flavor. It did feel a little bit oily though which could have been due to the chili oil they used in the Spicy Tonkatsu ramen. Portion wise, they give you decent amount enough to have you leaving satisfied. Definitely worth checking out if you happen to be in the area or if you just need a quick bite after grocery shopping. My Recommendations: -Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen read more
My friend convinced me to try some ramen. I'm not really adventurous with my food choices but SOOOO many ppl like ramen & I grew up on oodles of noodles so I figured - what the heck?? I was encouraged to order the pork ramen, I'm a pork girl so I went with it & did the spicy. it was just okay....i really couldn't get over the texture of the boiled pork & the flavor was so flat. I'm really in between a 3 & a 4 on this one cuz I can't tell if I just didn't like it, or if this wasn't a great batch. I'm gna go with a 4 cuz the staff was friendly & the service was quick. My friend really enjoyed his chicken katsu bowl. anyway this is inside a really cool asian market with lots of other places to try. read more
The ramen here was really good for food court. Most of the food in the food court is awesome. They gave a ton for the price. I could only eat half plus they have pictures... Picture menus are the best. Water is available for free with your meal. I tried garlic tonkotsu & the broth was super creamy with thick noodles. My boyfriend had spicy chicken which was also super creamy. It tasted like numbing spice for the heat - interesting choice. Standard toppings, corn, bean sprouts, kikurage, Naruto, green onion The wait was short, maybe 5 mins on a Saturday night. Will definitely have to come back read more
I ordered some Tonkotsu Ramen and Spicy Chicken Ramen for pickup. Both were really good. The Spicy Chicken Ramen was so good. The soup base was sweet and flavorful. I will definitely come back to try other dishes. The food was packaged well except I prefer to have maybe a newspaper on the bottom of the bag or paper bagged. It prevents food from falling or sliding in the car. read more
Whoa this place is bomb! We would have never known about this place if it weren't for my boyfriend's clients recommendations. It's located towards the back of a Korean food court connected to a market. Counter service was friendly. Menu was EXTENSIVE. We settled on the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen with garlic (free topping) and the Short Ribs Ramen made spicy (extra 50 cents). Our buzzer went off after about 10 minutes and we were handed two HUGE bowls of ramen. My boyfriend's short ribs alone could have been two meals. The broth for both was delicious. Maybe not as meaty as the broth at Jinya but definitely hits the spot. The meats in both were very tender. Noodles were cooked nicely without being soggy. Overall, we inhaled both our bowls and still had to ask for a to-go container for second dinner. I also got the passion fruit oolong tea that was very good. A tad sweeter than what I would have liked initially but perfect if you added some ice. Price wise, it was so cheap compared to most of the other ramen specialty joints in town. $8.xx for most traditional bowls. The short ribs ramen was most expensive at $12.xx. For the sake of quality, convenience, and cost, I can definitely see myself coming back for quite a few more bowls. PS They also offer a loyalty card with free wings/chicken nuggets after 5 bowls and free ramen after 10 bowls. read more
Nice ramen shop in what looks like a great food court attached to Jusgo market. - Spicy tonkotsu ramen: a really good version of one of my favorite foods. Only moderately spicy, the flavor, noodles, charshu, and other ingredients are on point. I like it, although it could be spicier. As with all ramen joints, the serving size is large. read more

Kumai Ramen is located inside Jusgo Supermarket. Thought it is nothing super amazing, for the quality and price-- it's a easy, fast, and affordable (?) alternative to your Japanese ramen cravings. If you use cash, i believe they give you some sort of discount (maybe about 10% but don't quote me on that). They also have stamp cards which you can accumulate to get that one ramen free. All in all, if you're in the area and just want some ramen before or after shopping, i don't think it would hurt to check it out! :) read more

Giving this place a 5. The value is worth it alone and the diverse offerings are refreshing. I decided with the Kakuni Ramen and Takoyaki. Total was $16 and some change. This place is located in the food court of Justgo Supermarket which is being renovated. I almost didn't come in until I saw the sign that read foodcourt was open. I'll be honest, I was hunting for a ramen place and this place delivered exactly what I wanted. Good broth and good toppings. I liked the noodles as they were, I noticed someone commented that they were soggy, it may have just been a one time? I'm sure it can happen. Anyway, the price and value are amazing, totally worth it. The takoyaki itself is the best I've had in town. Maybe it's because they prepare it in front of you. Will be back. read more

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the atmosphere is not my style. The ramen bowl was amazing. Very flavorful. Also, the fried squid was perfectly cooked with a tasty sauce. If you love calamari, this is your spot! I suggest asking for the hot sauce on the sides. I will definitely be back read more

The market is closed, there was lady in front won't let us in. Are they closed as well?
You can use the entrance on the right. There's one entrance for the market and another for the food court. Hope this helps!
