You enter in and go through a temperature scan (I'm guessing this is from the Covid days) and we were led to a small room that separated diners from one another. Service was very quick! It began with a congee/rice porridge that had a subtle taste and nice fragrant sesame oil. We all ordered something from their lunch special menu, and the lunches came out in about ten minutes. The best time to eat food in Gwinnett Pleasant Hill is honestly the lunchtime. Many restaurants have specials and I would say eating lunch special at Misong is the most worth it and least hassle. Otherwise, the traffic, wait times, and prices can be quite different in the evenings and weekends. I think this is my new go to for Korean sushi- the portions were humongous and the fish was actually quite fresh. This is located right by the great wall supermarket so it was a convenient place to shop and stroll over the plaza with bubble teas right in front of it. I ordered the chirashi combo and it was so large that I struggled to finish. the ban chan was good. My friend ordered the fish and salad combo and that was definitely more feasible for one person. what stopped it from getting the 5 star was probably service. I think the service disappeared after the food arrived and really didn't come back afterwards for refills or checking in. This is ok if you don't want to be disturbed but it also felt a little hostile. I think we had to ring for the check because we were forgotten and this was a weekday lunch time too! They were trying to seat me and my mom with some older men, so had asked for a different table. Once sat, we ordered the sashimi deluxe. This is such a cute place. I like the aesthetic upon arrival when walking in we were greeted by a very friendly waitress and sat in a room that was just very authentic Japanese looking feeling. My friend and I both got the lunch special and it was delicious. The miso soup was seasoned so well and was probably the best miso soup I've ever had in life. I dropped by for lunch after grocery shopping at GW supermarket, located in the same plaza. Just looking for a quick bite to eat, I did not expect such a nice restaurant. It's a Korean owned Japanese restaurant- so expect Japanese style bento boxes and sashimi/sushi combos served with Korean banchan. I ordered the omakase, but I felt that the ratio between sashimi and live fish needed some adjustment. The thickness of the sashimi was fine, but the pieces were too large, making them difficult to eat in one bite. The serving time also involved long waiting periods. The biggest issue was the spicy fish stew served at the end. The bean sprouts were completely dried out, and the radish crumbled when I scooped it with a spoon, making me think it had been cooked days ago. When I asked about it, they told me that the stew is simmered all day and then served in a hot pot. I've never heard of a sushi restaurant serving spicy fish stew that has been cooked all day. The appearance and taste of the dish made it seem like leftovers from previous days, which was extremely disappointing. Popped in here with my parents today. This is a place that is literally hidden in one of the corners of an old strip mall off Pleasant Hill near Satellite Rd. Without being told what and where to go I'd never have found it. We showed up at 2, I was pleased to see this place was open daily from 11:30-midnight. I know we were after lunch rush so we got seated in one of the private rooms immediately and ordered sushi and sashimi combo b, a pork tonkatsu combo meal, and a few other things my parents enjoy, like mackerel. So many options! I basically have never seen sushi cuts so large, not unless you're paying 4x as much at Morimoto. This restaurant is Korean owned and operated, so I am obviously a little biased but the server was super helpful and on point. Lots of food but we were hungry. We had leftovers, should be ok. They provided banchon (traditional Korean side dishes usually given at Korean BBQ and other restaurants) and they were all very good also. I took a bunch of photos so you can see how nicely prepared some of the sashimi was. Sushi was smaller cuts but larger to wrap around the rice if you liked. What I liked the very best was the variety and a small bowl of udon noodles that came with my meal. Not too large- just enough to cover your craving, not too salty either. I was treated this place by a friend who ordered a large sushi sashimi combination dinner that I believe was around $150. There were only 3 of us and we were in for a massive amount of food and a ton of boxes to go. They started us out with several delicious appetizers, one after another, and I felt like it would not stop. Dumplings, vegetables, tempura, things I have not seen before, and finished off by a giant deep fried fish with sauce on it that was scrumptious. I was quite full and satisfied, and that's when the sushi started coming. We got a giant plate of sashimi, some with gold flakes on it, including plenty of abalone, another cooked fish, and then another plate of nigiri. It was a massive amount of food, I felt like it could have easily fed 6 of us. We ended up leaving with 3 to go boxes full of food. Aside from the insufficiently descripted menu and lack of pictures that make you feel like you might have to dive head first into the unknown, this experience was delightful. It's easy to spot at first glance what appears to be some steep pricing, but sushi isn't for a particularly parsimonious palate to begin with. We ordered the Misong Super Sashimi & Sushi ($189.99), which was well worth it in terms of both quantity and quality. You're first served some soup followed by a small set of appetizers. After ordering this set, we were presented with several waves of different side dishes, and it was honestly difficult to keep up. Somewhere within the glut of perpetually being served, we finally received the main platter of sushi and sashimi. This massive dish "feeds 4 people" but easily could have fed 6. The only problem is that everything comes in sets of 4, so a larger group would have to make compromises. As for the quality, well, let's just say the flounder we were served was still alive and swimming when we placed our order. This is perhaps some of the best sushi and sashimi I've had in the Atlanta area. I know what you're thinking--while Atlanta metro has some gold mines of Asian food, it can certainly be lacking in Japanese food, so this may not necessarily be a high bar, especially if you've ever even set foot in places like Seattle or New York, but believe me when I say this outshines the standard of Atlanta sushi. There are better Korean sushi places in the area. This place isn't bad, just not the best. Prices are similar to others in the area, but quality of the fish isn't as good as the others. When you come in, you'll walk through this giant TSA screening looking thing to check your temperature. They'll start you right away with veggie porridge as soon as you get seated. Porridge is great for an appetizer! I always order the sushi lunch -- 8 pieces of sushi, a choice of California roll or shrimp tempura roll, and udon. They also give you steamed egg as a complimentary side as well as a couple of other typical sides you'd get at a Korean restaurant. The sides are seasoned too strong in my opinion, but I tend to have a more bland taste than normal. The fish are long but thin. I like the size of the fish; if you like thicker fish, go elsewhere. One of the fish they give is crab meat, which I personally think is such a rip off. They should just put more of that in the California rolls because there aren't enough crab meat in the rolls (you're basically eating rice, seaweed, and cucumbers). Shrimp tempura roll isn't bad and is definitely more worth than the California roll. Udon is pretty much instant udon. The first time I came, it was so sweet that it felt like I was just drinking sugar water. I like this place mostly for their porridge and steamed eggs hah. read more

I have to say Misong is my favorite Korean-owned sushi restaurant in the Duluth area. Not only do they taste good, their portions are very generous and it's the only place that really fills up my stomach on an empty day. I visited Misong on a Tuesday evening. It seemed pretty busy for a weekday evening and I wasn't surprised. Our server let us know that they have live octopus that just came in and as someone who actually loves live octopus (when I lived at Korea), I knew we had to order one. We got the sashimi deluxe special, an order of live octopus and a small hot sake. The sashimi deluxe special was GREAT - it was $99 and the server said it feeds 2-3 people. It not only came with the sashimi, it also came with various sides and appetizers, such as tempura, squid tempura, bibim gooksu, shumai, takoyaki and more. The sashimi was pretty fresh and I always love the salmon and flounder. They also serve kim (seaweed) to wrap your tuna in, which is also great. The sashimi deluxe concludes with maewoontang and al-bal. The live octopus was $25; pretty expensive for its portions but it's just a rare dish in general. The squid was still alive and well and they served it with sesame oil & salt. For $25, portions were ok but they still tasted great. Great to dip with cho gochujang as well! Overall, I was impressed. I mean I'm impressed every time I come here and despite the inflation, it seems like they're trying their best to keep prices low. This new sushi restaurant replaced what used to be Dragon BBQ. They have kept the dragon mural up, which is no surprise since it's an amazing piece of art, but it doesn't really match the name of the restaurant (literally translates to beautiful pine tree - according to my mother lol!). Regardless, my dining experience here was nice. There are tables that are out in the open as well as sectioned off rooms for a bit more privacy, which was really nice. The service is alright, they check on you here and there, but there is a bell on the table that you can ring if you need anything else. Since they just opened not too long ago, they have a list of items on their lunch special menu for $8.99, which isn't too bad since some of the options sound pretty delicious. (Lunch is monday through sunday from 11:30-3:00) I tried the Fresh Sashimi Course lunch combo which included sashimi, spicy soup(fish bone soup- be careful of the bones), shrimp tempura, grilled fish, sushi, squid stir fry, and fish roe rice. They also served some rice porridge and steamed egg as appetizers, which was nice. I added a bit of soy sauce to my rice porridge since it was a little bland. The steamed egg was mediocre. For the sashimi, they served really thin pieces of flounder. In korean, the name of flounder is "gwang-uh", and I believe this is the typical sashimi they serve with the combos. The sushi that was served was also flounder, so I thought that was interesting. I assumed it would have been an assortment of different sushi's, but regardless, it was still delicious. The dish that stood out the most to me was the tempura. I thought it was perfectly fried, and the size of the shrimp was perfect as well.
