    Sashimi salad
    Sandy J.

Overview: A strong anchor in the Assi food plaza, Wasabi has been one of the original restaurants that has maintained its popularity and reputation for its inexpensive but delicious sushi combinations and sashimi salad. I highly recommend their sashimi salad. It is Korean lettuce, cabbage and when you check out, they then add the salmon, flounder, and tuna on top. They also include rice and a small bowl of miso soup. I think this is such a refreshing and light dish to get because there's no grease, sauce, or powerful flavors. This dish is lightly flavored with sesame oil and a hint of salt. It lets the natural umami deep fish oils bend with the slimy texture of the fish against the crunch of the salad. The cabbage with its slight wasabi acidity taste keeps this dish from becoming stale tasting. The rice gives the dish an added edge of being chewy. I think this is the original "poke" bowl that has recently swept across cities in the "poke" craze that I've been seeing. This sashimi salad dish has existed for YEARS, but now you can glam it up at places with all kinds of fancy toppings. For 8.50$ with tax, this is a good thing to get in terms of size and health. Sure you may not get the masago, scallions, mangos, and whatever creative toppings you get these days, but it has that old school traditional old Nintendo gameboy consult kinda feel that I really appreciate.

We decided to join their waitlist online, which was a great choice--it significantly shortened our wait time, and we appreciated receiving a text when our table was ready so we could head right in. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, so I definitely recommend joining the waitlist or making reservations ahead of time if possible. I've heard they also have another location in Atlanta, Georgia, where parking is required and they offer specialty lemonades. The vibe here was really nice--great music, friendly staff, and beautiful decor. We especially loved the thoughtful touch of flowers on the tables in honor of Mother's Day. Our waitress was kind, knowledgeable, and took the time to walk us through the menu, including specialty items and pricing. For food, we ordered the shrimp and waffles, chicken tenders with waffles, and the catfish plate, which comes with two sides--we chose potatoes and eggs. Everything was delicious and well-prepared. We also tried their lemonades, which come in a variety of flavors like strawberry, pineapple, and blueberry, and they are refillable. The only downside for us was that they only offer bottled water--we would have preferred the option of having a regular cup of ice water at the table. Overall, we had a great experience. The food was flavorful, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. Pricing is around $20+ per person. I just wish they had a location like this in Arizona!

Good fried chicken is hard to find, especially for someone like me…read more I have been blessed with health ailments along with an extremely picky stomach that can't tolerate greasy foods. Along with that blessing, I find myself being addicted to everything that makes me sick. Life hands you lemons, ya eat it anyway. So imagine my surprise when I dig into a box of fried chicken and don't see grease collecting around the entire box. It can't taste good if it's not greasy, right? I was delightfully proven wrong. The chicken was juicy af. Yes, so juicy I actually said wtf. The meat was tender, the skin was crunchy. And it was like an ASMR session kind of crunchy. I would've recorded the sound but unfortunately I'm allergic to ASMR. I'll be honest, when I first saw 98k Chicken I didn't have high expectations. I thought it would be another Zaxby's, Popeyes, KFC, etc. But they've really set themselves apart! The price is far more reasonable than other chain fried chicken restaurants, the portions are bigger, and the quality of the food is consistently superior. If they're able to keep up with what they're doing, I think this will be a community favorite. Good food speaks for itself, and so do the kind owners that pour their hearts and souls into their businesses. When I go to a fast food restaurant, I barely expect people to look at me in the eye, let alone carry on a conversation with me. But the woman at the counter is actually quite chatty! She makes you feel like you're talking to a friend, and if you stop by a few times, she even shares tea. IYKYK. The interior space is big and quiet enough if you wanna grab a meal and get some work done. There's a little room that's sectioned off, and it's a bit of a gem. I don't remember if they have WiFi, next time I go I'll check and come back to update my review.

The service was already terrible when we were told to sit down wherever and then this guy comes out of nowhere and sits us down at a terrible spot, and keeps coming back to asks questions even when we ordered steak he came back to ask what temperature which is very odd because it's normally asked when you order THE steak. None of us had ever been before, so we didn't fully know what to expect -- but it ended up being such a memorable Sunday evening. We were able to get the group discount (if you have 15+ guest), and tickets came out to about $57 per person after taxes and fees, which felt reasonable for dinner and a show. We were originally scheduled for January, but had to reschedule due to the two "winter storms" we had -- the process was smooth and hassle-free, which we appreciated thanks to Wendy the Group Ticket Rep. We all decided to dress up, which honestly made the experience 10x more fun. If you're planning to going, I highly recommend getting into character. The show was about 1.5 hours long and kept everyone entertained the entire time. Even though our team lost (still a little salty about that ), the energy, cheering, and crowd involvement made it a blast. The food was better than expected! The chicken was surprisingly juicy, and the corn was actually the standout of the meal. Everything was served hot and fresh. Shout out to our Server i believe her name of Melissa or Melanie. She played along with wondering what "utensils" were when I was using them during the meal. Overall, it was such a fun group outing and perfect for celebrations. Check in was a little chaotic - line was super long even for VIP and it was a little hectic trying to figure out where the heck to go. None the less we got seated and it was amazing. We got front row and had the best time. The bar drinks were weak and low quality liquor so I'd that skip next time. Food was meh but youre honestly there for the experience. There is no silverware but you could ask for it but everything is finger food. Our server Brianna was great. The show was the best part - we had so much fun and we were loud LOL. If you go be sure to get Queens Royalty, get there early, dress up, and sit front row. Bring earplugs if noise bothers you. Also, our blue knight won and we were feral. One recommendation is build in the gratuity within the ticket so people dont have to worry about it.
