My ramen and bun combo was the right choice for me because it gave me both an appetizer and entree . I chose the Tokyo Tonkatsu Shouyu Ramen combo which came with a green tea pudding and steamed bun. My husband and I came here for a date night and throughly enjoyed ourselves. I really loved how the seating was arranged against the wall. They had little honey comb type booths and we got to sit in one. We ordered drinks and the robot delivered them to our table which was fun and cool to see. We ordered the fried squid for our appetizer and it was good. I would have enjoyed it a little more if a sauce had came with it on the side. This came with the combo set with the rice burger Tonkatsu omurice - tonkatsu was very oily, rice was undercooked Eel Kamameshi - this took 15-20 min (which is ok since they let us know in advance) but I was extremely disappointed in this beautiful dish. Eel was way too salty and sweet. It was not even warm. Egg was overly sweet. Rice was undercooked and sweet too. The waitresses were okay but they did not bring the food out at the same time. This was extremely frustrating as each food item came out every 5-10 minutes. We spent $100 for very mediocre food and service. The restaurant is located in a plaza so the parking is free and convenient. Upon entering the restaurant I was stunned by how beautiful the Japanese inspired decor was and how spacious it was inside. We ordered 3 bowls of ramen, the omurice, and a lemonade. We came specifically for the omurice because I don't think you can get Japanese omurice like that anywhere else in this area. They cut the egg for us when it was brought to the table which is pretty cool, but the omurice itself was just okay. We shared the plate among 4 of us and none of us really cared for it. I didn't like the lemonade at all. The ramen was good though. We enjoyed the taste of the broth and the noodles were cooked well. Service was great. Came here yesterday and I think the store is going thru changes. First I will say the most egregious thing I saw was a carton of half and half was sitting on the counter at the server station the entire time I was there which was over an hour. It was already sitting there when I got there and sitting there after I left. The spicy sauerkraut is no longer on the table and you have to request it. I have no problem asking for it but others could be missing out. Another thing - some tables had government/official looking signs about allergies. The table I sat at didn't have a sign so not sure what was said. For consistency they should have it on every table or something. What if it was important? We were at an event at gas south and realized how close we were to kyuramen so came with no hesitation! I've been eyeballing this place for awhile from Instagram and Facebook. Came on a Sunday around 4pm and no wait to sit. They put us in the honeycomb situation and that by itself is a cool experience! Also, be careful because I wasn't looking and almost put my foot in a hole I have been wanting to try omurice so I got the tonkatsu omurice combo with demi glace sauce. The server that delivered it asked if I wanted to video the cutting which I wouldn't normally do but since she asked ‍ the omurice had a really great egg texture and wasn't too salty. I loved it and am so glad I chose this dish! The tonkatsu was juicy & tender and came atop a bed of spring mix. I do wish it came atop a bed of shredded cabbage instead but that's ok! The bottom wasn't quite crispy but it was delicious and the top was crispy. I think the lettuce may have had too much moisture. I dipped my tonkatsu in the egg/demi glace and that was lit for me. My meal also came with a lemonade or Thai tea so I got the lemonade which was cucumber lemonade and it was so refreshing! My husband got the Kyushu spicy ramen and it was a good heat level! They have combo meals so it gives you a variety The pork bun baos were delicious and the Kimchi Ramen was so good! The staff is SUPER attentive but just one small comment would be that they were almost TOO attentive. If you look up, someone would automatically come to the table. There wasn't just ONE server per table so we would get a rotation of a bunch of servers. So I'm a fan of ramen, but good ramen not just regular commercial ramen. In this place definitely came through for me. It's nice and spacious, and if you're into places around restaurants, there's a ton of places to walk around and walk about. It's not like a bar rich area, but there's a Lowe's down the street, there's a Walmart down the street, there's a ton of things to do so you can do your errand running and then stop in and then finish your errands. The inside of the place has a super nice ambiance. There's basically kind of a second floor to it. You can sit on the main floor You can take a couple of steps and sit above, it's not super high but it's high enough. It adds a little extra to it. They have plenty of private rooms if you want to reserve the private rooms if you have to party big enough that is. Everything is shrouded and wood and bamboo which really gives it a Asian kind of decor and an Asian field to it. They have the bar area where you can sit and watch the cooks prepare the food. Not a bar area like liquor, don't get it confused lol. They have one of those machines where you can let the machine serve the sushi and the ramen to you. It's like a sleeping cat kind of deal. But it's an awesome novelty. Not that it has an impact, but again, it's not something that everybody has. So on the tables they have some seasonings available for you so you don't have to ask for them. Which is pretty cool, so they don't have to have people going back and forth. It looks like in the booth area there's a call button system to where you need to call them what the button so that you can get service. The inside is beautifully decorated, my favorite things are the giant fake wishing tree in the middle of the room and the hexagon shaped pods on the back wall that are such a cute table for two! We got seated in one of the private looking rooms which honestly was a bit hot and stuffy. Would much rather be seated in the open area. Food/price: - Okonomiyaki ($8.49): savory version of a Japanese pancake made with an egg type batter and filled with veggies like cabbage and topped with bonito flakes. Really enjoyed this, from the texture to the flavors. Would get again! - Popcorn chicken ($8.49): expected more from this. The batter was so-so and I think it was missing a lot of the flavor that makes this good. Would skip - Tonkotsu omurice combo ($23.99): the combo comes with pork tonkotsu (you can get it without for $19.99), your choice of demi glace or curry for the sauce, and a drink (either lemonade or thai thea). I had the lemonade, it was so refreshing and tasty. If you're not a fan of cucumber then don't get it, because it does have a cucumber flavor to it - this drink would be so good as a cocktail too! The pork tonkotsu was thick and I'm not sure if it was the cut of pork they used but it had a really gamey and fatty taste to it that I personally didn't like. Next time I would get the meatless option. The spectacle of the omurice is pretty cool, they cut it open in front of you and pour the sauce on top.
