Place looked nice when we walked in. When we got there, the server was pretty invested in watching tv and didn't notice us for a minute. When she saw us though she was nice and welcomed us. I didn't see the omakase on the menu like I thought I would. Sashimi was fresh and great, but with raw spinach and salad on the bottom? Spinach has a distinct flavor already. Why not use radish like most other sushi restaurants? Food took forever because only one person was cooking and another was the sushi chef. We came to this restaurant to celebrate and it was the perfect setting. FOOD:we got the $100/person Omakase set (minimum people 2) and it was worth it. There was a good variety of foods, flavors and textures. We actually had plenty of food to take home. The only downside was not having a menu item of the list of courses. Korean style Japanese restaurant on Peachtree Industrial in Duluth. Big interior with lots of seating. Seems great for large groups with a lot of big tables. Waiters were all friendly and quick. Food was just okay. Sushi and sashimi dishes were decent but I'd say there's much better sushi and sashimi places in the area for better price. Don't order the oysters though. There was happy hour from 3-6pm, oysters were huge, but they tasted terrible. I'm not picky about oysters, but they tasted rubbery and the fishy taste in my mouth would not go away for a while. Thank goodness we only ordered the half dozen. My husband ended up spitting them out. Hopefully the oysters were just bad that day. The happy hour prices were great. FYI, this place is not kid friendly. They have one booster seat for the whole restaurant and no high chairs. They only have glass cups for water. Came to Oystra with a friend for lunch. Neither one of us have been here. Upon walking in was greeted and sat immediately. The restaurant is very cute inside looks quaint and small, but there is another room in the back. I let my friend order our appetizer because I told her I did not raw salmon because it was too chewy & fishy. Well turns out that's not even what it's supposed to taste like and I must've had a bad experience. She ordered the Nigri we got the salmon, salmon, belly, and tuna. Every single one of those were absolutely delicious and so fresh! The sushi chef even came over and said they switch out the fish every two days, I would definitely try any one of those again. In between our appetizer and entrée, we got some banchan, which consisted of bean sprouts, cucumbers, radish I think, and I'm not sure what the last one was but they were all great. For our lunch entrée (I had planned on getting Ramen but we never made it past our sushi rolls for the rolls) we got the aloha roll and the Spider-Man that Spider-Man role is pretty big and it took two bites to eat which is not a bad thing. It was absolutely delicious and flavorful , the aloha roll was great as well. I liked the taste of the spicy tuna. After we were done eating, the waitress bought us a little tray of desserts to share. One of the desserts tasted like a little fruit parfait. The other two things were a chocolate macaroon, and I believe a sweet bun filled with cream. I've came here many times and this is my go to spot for sushi! Today we tried the Kobe beef combo and it was amazing. $50 for multiple slices. My favorite roll today was the Oystra roll! Attached some pictures of the meal we had today. I think they also recently changed their menu, love the cute little menu book. The Kobe beef set also came with many items such as tempura, salmon, salad and a miso soup. We also got a baked salmon roll and it was definitely my favorite. Good quantity and quality. Japanese inspired dishes with a Korean influence as well. The option is primarily Japanese based with what you would typically find at a sushi restaurant. They offer dishes from sushi rolls, fried rice, to more traditional sashimi. Dishes come with kimchi on the side similar to what you would find at Japanese restaurants too. We ordered the combo dish here and as you can see with the photos I posted, it comes with a lot of food. Almost too much, so make sure you have a big appetite. One minor attention to detail with the sashimi is that they used chilling stones on the plate so your fish stays cold throughout the meal. First time in Gwinnett I've experienced that. This is my third time coming here and I think it's a real gem in Gwinnett just between Suwanee and Duluth. A fusion style of Korean and Japanese menu with focus on top quality fish with some great set options. Great staff and a comfortable atmosphere. I really enjoy the attention to detail they take to the presentation of the items and the quality of the fish. I did a toro and salmon set and they said the fish just came in today and you could really tell by the freshness. Wow! I found this on Yelp and drove over from Brookhaven. It is located in a very small strip plaza, and I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened the door. Our waitress was very kind and even brought us some complimentary items and was very patient with our young one who was picky and dropped his water cup. The food was on point and the server was excellent and just a 5 star customer service overall. They had uni this time around albeit the uni didn't taste perfectly fresh, but the other nigiri were great. The appetizers we've tried are the takoyaki and tuna tadaki and those were great. For dessert they gave us a few cookies and yogurt with fruit which were a nice touch. Truly a hidden gem. I think this is the best service I've had in my life, and along with the food, I'm more than happy with my dining experience here. The waiters were checking on us to ensure we were happy and even brought our complementary salads and soup for our guest who didn't have it come with her meal. The chef personally visited us and asked us if we were enjoying our food and talked to us about the origins of the fish. The toro set comes with 18 pieces of salmon, yellow fish, tuna, and toro, and not to mention a ginger salad, miso oyster soup, tempura, rice with roe, and grilled fish. All for the price of $50. I was floored by the quality, each piece melted in my mouth. I was so full by the end of the night in the best way. The lobster sashimi was extremely fresh. It is presented with the lobster head and let's just say the lobster did not appreciate being on our table. On our first visit, we also get a set menu with a choice of 2 premium rolls for $50.00. We also got a plate of oysters. Very plump oysters. Reasonably priced. This is a cute little Korean-inspired sushi restaurant so be prepared to be served some delectable banchan with your meal (not included with the omakase). First thing I loved about this place was the friendly warm welcoming the staff gave us when we entered. We came on a weekday night so the place wasn't very busy. They bring waters along with hot green tea. We ordered a few different rolls along with Takoyaki. Everything was perfect and delicious. We also had some Dassai 45 sake, perfect every time, so smooth and it really compliments the rolls for me. They also had a robot to bring food to the back tables. Our waiter was awesome he was very attentive and on top of everything. They also brought us complimentary yogurt with berries and cookies. I really loved that touch. The sushi chef passed our table a couple times to ask if we enjoyed each roll, he was very friendly and kind. I loved that! I truly have no complaints other than they kept the front door open and it was freezing inside but that's due to some tables have the grills on in the back room. 10/10.
