    SHIRMP WONTON NOODLE

An unplanned stop in Duluth caused me to seek out lunch at Sweet Octopus. I only experienced the ground floor; apparently there is a different menu (empanadas, bubble tea) upstairs. The downstairs menu was plenty large with sushi, noodles, poke bowls, and ramen. I ordered the shrimp wonton ramen at the counter and settled in at one of the plain by comfortable tables. When I arrived there was only one other occupied table but the place soon filled up. If it had been a little warmer the outdoor patio would have been great. My food was delivered after a short wait. Drink choices were serve-yourself water or a variety of canned and bottled soft drinks from a refrigerator, and I think I saw some bottled sake also. I chose a ginger ale. The ramen was beautiful. It had a good broth and lots of vegetables in addition to half a boiled egg and about half a dozen shrimp wontons. Delicious! I would love to eat here again and try more of the menu.

Decided to try this place as it's been on my bookmark for a while and I happened to be in the area. It was a Thursday afternoon during lunchtime. There were a few other patrons but the place is not packed. Food is ordered at the counter and then they deliver the food to you, so it is not a traditional sit down restaurant. I ordered the spicy seafood ramen. It was decent. I can tell that the seafoods are all from packed/frozen seafood. Soup tasted alright as well. The ramen model was cool to property consistency. I have nothing bad to say, but it's not overly memorable nor out of this world.

The food is good but it is self service seating and the servers are a little slow and not very enthusiastic about their jobs. They don't seem to be giving off great vibes and since their menu is pretty large, it is very imperative that the servers and staff are welcoming, approachable, and knowledgeable. The restaurant is small itself so hard with large crowds.

Right in the center of cute Duluth! Beautiful building beautiful outside. Casual almost like a hangout spot. Easy to order and pretty quick service. Yummy food! Fresh ingredients and delicious choices. I had the Bangkok Ribs. SO tender! Fall off the bone with a beautiful Thai curry. I could have eaten 20! Pad Thai was also excellent and they have a fun Sushi Doughnut. We will be back!

Been here a few times now, and food has always been good, fresh, and flavorful!! Plenty of tables to sit at, enough menu items to choose from (sushi burritos, sushi donuts, ramen, thai...), within a reasonable price with their portions. Staff is always friendly, and is a perfect place for lunch when you're in downtown Duluth!!

Located Downtown Duluth, it's a good place to eat when you're in the area and need a quick bite. There are menus at the door when you walk in, and you choose a free table to sit at, either upstairs (Empanada House) or downstairs (Sweet Octopus), before going to the counter and placing an order. You'll be given a number, and they'll bring your food out when it's ready. Food is served relatively quick and tasted pretty good. I love fried shallots, and I was happy with my Pokebowl for that reason. I do remember having eaten here previously and finding the ramen lackluster, which influences my review now, but the Pokebowl was filling and tasty. It's kinda funny how my friends and I have been here on different occasions, forgot all about it until hanging out here, and we each remember the ramen being meh.

Sweet Octopus = My New Go-To in Undeniably Downtown Duluth! I just had the most FLAVOR-PACKED meal at Sweet Octopus, and I'm officially obsessed! This Asian fusion spot is serving up some of the best Thai and Japanese-inspired dishes, and every single bite was *chef's kiss* and the service was extra fast, super friendly and spot on with the recommendations Here's what I devoured: Thai Fried Rice with Chicken & Shrimp - So savory, smoky, and packed with flavor. I could eat this every day! Chicken Ramen - Cozy, comforting, and soooo good. Pro tip: Add an egg for that extra richness! Garlic Pepper Chicken - If you love bold, garlicky flavors, this one's for you! Miso Ramen - The umami levels are next-level. I added pork belly, and WOW--no regrets! Shrimp Rolls - Light, fresh, and the perfect little bite to start with. Chicken Empanada - Crispy, golden perfection with juicy, flavorful chicken inside. Blackberry Smoothie - Sweet, refreshing, and the best way to cool down after all the spice! The food was , the vibes were immaculate, and the patio seating made it even better! Whether you're in the mood for Thai fried rice, ramen, or some tasty street food-inspired bites, Sweet Octopus is a must-visit in Duluth.

We had a party of 4 for dinner on Friday, 6/7/24, at 5:30 pm. They have high chairs! But the high chair was a little too short for the tables outside. We sat outside and it was lovely. They have a giant menu, with Thai, sushi, ramen, and more. The staff was very nice! We all split the nachos and gyoza. I split the burrito roll and sushi donut with my husband. Here's what we got: - Spicy Tuna Nachos ($8.50): Tasted good, but the wontons were super fragile and broke whenever we tried to pick them up. - Fried Pork Gyoza ($5): Good! - Best of the Best Burrito Roll ($16): Tasty! - Salmon Donut ($8.50): Good deal! I liked how saucy it was. The presentation was fun. The food came out pretty quickly, but the donuts came out a lot later than our other dishes. Overall, pretty solid food and very reasonably priced! If we're in the area again, we would go back!

Another delicious visit! Got my fave starter- spicy tuna nachos- and this time got the fresh tuna poke bowl as the main. Both so fresh and so good. I have been many times and will be back!

Fried Tofu (requested it fried extra crispy)

While visiting family over the holidays, we stopped by for a a light bite before dinner. Service The staff was nice and was able to answer some inquiries about some of the vegetarian options. I'm vegan, so I appreciated they took the time to help me figure out the item that would work for me. Food I got the "Fried Tofu" and asked for it to be fried extra crispy. It came with a Thai chili and chopped peanuts sauce. It was a solid 3 stars out of 5. I was expecting the sauce to be more of a creamy, peanut sauce with their chili. I also thought the tofu would be tossed in the sauce. That was my own expectations though. Now that I know how it comes, I may not request it extra crispy. The tofu had a nice crunch on the outside with a little softness on the inside, but you really needed the sauce to give it the extra flavor. I would like to return and try out their other menu options. Especially the Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice, and Pad See-Ew (my favorite Thai dish). Ambiance I loved how clean it was in there! They have an upstairs rooftop and a patio I would like to sit on in the warmer months.

Sweet Octopus is a great spot to try out if you're in downtown Duluth and want some good, affordable, and vegetarian friendly options in the area. A lot of other options nearby are outright inflated for what you get for the sake of being "in downtown" but Sweet Octopus has your average 10-15 dollar plates you'd expect. They offer a variety of different foods and they do some well and some not so well. When you go to a spot that does "a little bit of everything," they usually don't nail any of those things perfectly. Regardless, we enjoyed our meals and the food isn't bad. This time around, I ordered the tofu spicy basil fried rice which was definitely worth getting - it has that smokiness that you crave in some fried rices. It was delicious with generous portion sizes. My girlfriend tried some of the sushi and with it being her favorite food, she was a bit harsher on the critique and said it was all right. In the past, I've ordered their 1-up vegan ramen and their pad thai. While convenient, there are options nearby that blow these two out of the water with spots that specialize in Thai food and ramen bowls. If you're interested, feel free to send me a message and I can direct you accordingly or view my previous reviews. To summarize, Sweet Octopus is a decent choice for food if you're in the downtown area and don't want to spend an excessive amount of money in the nearby spots like Nacho Daddy or Dreamland. The food's good, the staff is kind, and it's a convenient spot for dinner or some treats.

Back again! And I got something other than a poke bowl! Finally got to try a burrito roll and it was so yum! I got the best of the best roll with a side of eel sauce. Very filling and the size of an actual burrito. The waiter compared it to eating two large sushi rolls and it was just that. Sweet Octopus will forever be a staple!

And as expected, it was alright. We ate it, but it wasn't anything to write home about. It's only getting a Yelp review bc I liked their apps. The appetizers I've had were much better than the ramen, even outside of this one instance with their promotional ramen. If I wanted ramen, it wouldn't be here, but for a quick bite or many small plates... maybe. The eggplant and brussels sprouts were probably my favorite of what I had, and it's all due to the miso soy marinade. It masked some bitterness with sweetness. If I were to come again, it'll have to be during happy hour. That's the only time I feel it's worth coming for.

For the Beef Bulgogi Cheese Fries, the bulgogi is good, the fries are not. These fries are from the frozen section at Costco, make no mistake. They are bland, 2/5 star fries. Even if the bulgogi was on top of better fries, the bulgogi is dry and the cheese on it isn't melty or saucy, so the fries and the topping don't mix together well. Just a pile of dry food.
