I think I found my favorite ramen shop in Georgia ! This spot is great and offers many options of ramen and other Japanese dishes. We had their ultra spicy ramen (level 10) and boy was it spicy..... you can choose a level from 1 to 100 . We almost did 99 and I'm glad we didn't because it might have been the death to our mouth. Then, we ordered the tonkotsu ramen and it was so smooth. We also ordered the kaki fry (fried oyster) which was very pleasantly and good size. Lastly, we ordered the takoyaki which were small but were very delicious. The atmosphere is really cool and makes you enjoy their ramen even more. The service was great! This is a wonderful Japanese restaurant! We stopped in after reading the reviews on yelp and we're very happy we did. We were greeted and seated immediately, and our drink order taken quickly. It took a few minutes to go through the menu and decide between all the delicious options. My husband had a Sapporo beer and I had plum wine. We ordered the Yaki Gyoza (chicken dumplings) and the Gomo Kyuri (cucumber salad) as appetizers. I decided to try the Tori Karaage Don because I love Japanese fried chicken. Hubby ordered the Katsu Tofu Curry Don (fried tofu in Japanese curry sauce) The drinks came out first followed by the cucumbers which were delicious, although not as spicy as I am used to. The plum wine had an actual plum in the glass! Then my husband's curry dish arrived, followed soon after by my Karaage. Both were wonderful! Our server stopped by to say that the Gyoza took a bit longer and she would bring them out as soon as they were ready. But when we got there, no one at the lobby and when he called our names which I put it on the waitlist before I got there, he said I had to check in FIRST. Umaido just cannot get it right. Sometimes great, often terrible. As of NOV 2023.... Terrible Greasy fatty broth. Diarrhea city. Don't they know that they need to skim the fat off the broth after it's simmered all night? Sure they do... but why throw away the fat when you can charge your customers for it? They've lost me again. It will likely be another year before I give them another chance. There's just too many restaurants in the area who care about the quality of the food. read more

Came here for lunch with friends and ordered the mild curry ramen with shrimp katsu! The curry is vegetable based and was so thick, creamy, and flavorful. The shrimp was crispy and delicious. The portion was large enough for me to have leftovers and was very reasonably priced at 13.95. The service was great and our food was ready within 10-15 minutes of ordering, despite the restaurant being almost full. The ambience was lovely inside, with a bowl of lollipops for guests to take at the front. The bathrooms have heated toilet seats with automated bidets which was so nice and unexpected! I give this place a 4.5. Okay so I'm extremely biased to this place. The ramen is amazing. They can do no wrong even when they tell me they can't do something lol. Sooo my first time coming here I believe I got the seafood ramen with karage as my ramen and I also got the takoyaki, shrimp bun, chicken bun and fried squid for appetizers. I also tried the sake. Everything was very good. The next 2 times I returned, I got the spicy ramen with chicken broth instead of pork broth but they ended up telling me after 2 times that they were accommodating me but the spicy miso really isn't a ramen where they change the broth. They have very few options where they change the broth which sucks if you don't like or don't eat pork, so keep that in mind. The last time that I went, being that they crushed me with the news of not being able to change the broth I got the kimchi stir fry ramen which was also very good. In total my boyfriend and I have been here 4 times and plan to return. The servers are nice. I recommend Vivian. She was great. It's also a pretty comfortable ambience. I will say that out of the 3 flavors I tried. The spicy miso was my favorite. I'm sure people who do eat pork will thoroughly enjoy it. You can add in whatever you want to make it taste better. I recommend adding corn it just makes the ramen taste so much better in my opinion and of course whatever other meats and veggies you prefer. I also tried one of the beers but I didn't like it. Also not a beer drinker at all so someone who loves beer may enjoy it. They have an ume soda which is good. Out of the 4 times I been here 3 times was literally in one week because it really is so good and flavorful. Overall I give it about a 4.5 I think they should expand their beverage section non alcoholic mainly and give the option to change the broth on another ramen. read more

One of my favorite ramen place in atlanta. Of course it cannot beat a bowl of ramen in san francisco, but i'll take what I can get here in Atlanta. We tried the miso spicy and it was a 1/5 in term of spicy, so next time I will try a spicier ramen. When checking in, it gives me a buy one get one free add-on toppings for the ramen. We also got the shrimp tempura roll for appetizer which was really good also. One bad thing is the noodle isn't as good as other places, but the broth, chashu, soft boiled egg were on point. We stood there for a little over a minute, until I saw a machine that looked like a check in kiosk. They have check in kiosks at the VA hospital, so I went to the machine. Yup, it was a check in kiosk. The restaurant is small, but not too small. Noisy, so not a restaurant for a quiet date night. The restaurant is clean, and the menu items are decently priced. My daughter got the Shrimp tempura sushi. She said that it was spicier than what she anticipated, but she enjoyed it. My husband got the Tonkatsu, with extra noodles. He expressed to me, that the broth didn't have that much flavor. So, I told him to ask the waitress if they had any type of sauce (like sesame oil, etc.) All they had was siracha and soy. I had the Tonkatsu with extra pork. I agreed with my husband. The broth was not complex. I had to add fresh garlic and a lot of pepper. It was good/average, but not something to remember. I tell you what was to remember though..... That delicious braised pork. My 3 year old tore that up! It is a sweet and savory pork, topped with scallions. It reminded me of a delicious, tender stew. This was my first time trying ramen & I'm glad I came here for the experience. The food and service was amazing. I got the stir-fried kimchi with chicken broth which was phenomenal. I got a spice level 5 (I love spicy food) which was spicier than I expected but it was very enjoyable. The space is a bit small but it's definitely worth it. Tho I can't taste the different because the broths are so good. I had the ultra spicy level 2. Level 2 Spicy flavorful broth is not very spicy but just the right kick. I can drink the whole bowl without feeling thirsty. The pork is melt in your mouth. My husband ordered wasabi shoyu. Their umaido seafood broth is great, kinda darker color broth but it's not heavy at all. Tori Karaage Don small is mini, 3pcs chicken, with kani salad and rice. Wish they have more karaage as side order. Shrimp tempura is good, except rice is a little sticky and soft. Takoyaki are good and fresh, crispy on the skin and soft inside. I just wish they offer more appetizers. Our server is friendly and prompt. She kept checking to see if everything is good. Umaido is my favorite ramen shop in the Suwanee area. The food is good, the service is quick, and the restaurant looks like a cross between a rainbow sports bar and a traditional noodle shop, which I love. I came here for lunch with my family last week, and as always, the service was great and snappy. If you're here for lunch, order the lunch combo. For an extra $3, you get an additional Chasyu Rice, Curry Rice, OR Tori Karaage Don with your ramen bowl. My dad and I both ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, my sister ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen, and my mom ordered the Ultra Spicy Ramen (spice level 5...she didn't think it was terribly spicy, but she has an extremely high tolerance, so eaters beware). My sister did the lunch combo, and added a Chasyu Rice, which comes with edamame and is big enough to be shared as a side with others. The ramen is dependably good here, and this occasion didn't disappoint. The broth stands out in particular: it's got the marrow-rich creaminess that comes with being steeped for a long time. I ordered a second helping of noodles so I could make use of it all. The prices are also reasonable: you'll spend between $10-13 for a bowl. Best ramen I have ever had. For real. You absolutely must try the Hirata buns. Two per order, but four is a good meal. The fact that they bring you extra noodles if you have broth left over is wonderful. The manager is a super cool dude and very humble. The wall art is insane (bring your colored sharpies)! We went here mainly for their Ramen but ended up ordering whole bunch of appetizers because they had a very few non pork options. We asked if we could substitute the pork with either chicken, beef or mushroom and they said it's $3 extra. I was confused because it didn't really make sense to me why they would charge $3 extra for substituting a meat. Then each Ramen ends up being $15-$16, which is pretty expensive for this place. i came to umaido on a saturday afternoon at 2:30pm + there was no line and we got seated right away which was great. there's a bar area and some tables, overall a fairly small space so i can see how it gets pretty crowded. our food came out in less than 10 minutes though + lots of appetizers but i came for the ramen. i got the tonkotsu ramen. it came with pork, a soft boiled egg, and some seaweed i think. great toppings provided and there are others that can be added on + the ramen itself was flavorful and a good portion. noodles are on the thinner/harder side which i like. pork was super tender + the ramen is $10.95 which is such a great price. in midtown ramen is usually $13-15 so i was very satisfied with the price point. i also had leftovers so the portion was pretty good. - i didn't realize but you have to pay extra to make your ramen spicy. it's only a dollar or two but i think it would make a huge difference since it was very mild and had no spices at all. i definitely will do this and also ask for the fresh garlic. will definitely come back! read more

I really love the food here. Love the homemade gluten noodles. The broth has deep flavor. I used to eat this food all the time.. like 4 years ago, that's how I got fat. Fast forward to today, this place is my guilty pleasure. This location usually has consistently delivered over its sister restaurant Hajime,(got a really watery broth before .. was disappointed, but only 2 times) when that happens ask for "tare" which is a salty sauce with tons of flavor, so add slowly. Food: Ultra spicy lvl 5. I prefer regular noodles. The red noodles don't look right. The toppings: seaweed, bean sprouts, green onion, while sliced onion, chasyu and a soft boil egg. I think it's the first spicy sip that hits you it will get better. For Ramen: If you don't like spicy go with Tonkatsu. If you want something light go with Tori(chicken based) Apps/Sides: I really like the karrage(fried chicken) , takoyaki(fried octopus balls-homemade), chasyu don(pork over rice) comes with hot roasted pork creamy sauces and a layer of green onion then more sauce and ginger. What a delicious place to get ramen. Have been coming here for several years and recommend them highly. They have good variety and options for ramen and appetizers. I usually opt for water for my beverage and come here often with my wife and Friends. Once my kids are old enough I will most likely be bringing them here. The parking is plentiful and the customer service here is excellent very friendly staff and I wish them the best. ~Minimally vegetarian friendly~ Visited Umaido on a Friday night and it was so busy! I was glad my friend put us on the waitlist 30 minutes before we planned to meet, we were seated after 20 minutes of waiting. The vibes inside the restaurant were so cool, super lively and fun. We were seated at the food counter and it was a little tight there as they were bagging takeout orders and preparing table orders. Now on to the food: - Cucumber Salad: tasty, but it needed salt so I asked for salt on the side - Soymilk Ramen: it was sweet, even with spicy sauce, it was sweet. It wasn't bad but wasn't good either. The creaminess and the Soymilk flavor just wasn't for me. Don't be fooled, the broth does taste like Soymilk regardless of the spices and seasonings they put in. Even my friend didn't enjoy it that much. I did love the noodle texture though! - Katsu Tofu: crispy and melted in my mouth, but EXTREMELY oily. When I bit into it, I got a drink of oil along with it. Overall, I'd visit again, but maybe get another vegetarian broth (if they have), not Soymilk. Umaido is delicious! We've never had a bad experience here. I used to come twice a week when we lived in Lawrenceville but now that we live farther, we make the hour drive once a month. I love their karaage don and my fiancé gets the green ramen with the kale noodles. The edamame is pretty good too, we just don't get it anymore because the food is very filling.
