Lemon chicken -
Boyet R.

These people are in the wrong business! I hardly care about the ambiance because the staff is more than half of that. There was this Asian woman dressed in a t-shirt and leggings with her socks over leggings up to her shins. Slippers was the choice of footwear. Very uninspired attitude and it's obvious that she hates being there. Kinda "I'm trapped in this dump of a restaurant" look and demeanor. Very well English and sounds like she grew up in the U. S. , but damn she was rude AF!! Breakdown on the food: 1. Miso soup - luke warm 2. Lemon chicken - breaded fried chicken chunks with a disgusting sweet sauce with a hint of lemon peel. 3. Scorpion Roll - might as well be eating a real scorpion because the fried shrimp in this roll was just glad yo get out of the freezer. Not good at all and the sauce that they smeared on the plate was had a vague taste that did not complement the roll. 4. The sushi- was offensive..not so fresh, most likely edible enough but we couldn't get out of this restaurant quick enough. I had to take a bite of the sucky lemon chicken just to get the taste of the super salty eel sushi. No, I did not dip it in anything. I only eat ginger with eel..a perdonal preference. Need I say more? DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Oregon has no tax on food but I still felt robbed of my $66.00. Shame..

I really only ever get takeout from here, I eat from here very often. I always get the same dishes usually, shrimp chowmein and shrimp fried rice, never have complaints. These are signature dishes for me, I like the portions and I think they're delicious. Their lunch specials are about $9, depends what you get, I do the mongolian chicken and I've tried the beef and broccoli and shrimp with vegetables. You pick the main dish and get a side of steamed rice or pork fried rice and get a soup to pick from, I do miso. These specials are m-f, from 11-3pm. In terms of service, it's usually friendly but I can't speak to the service you receive when you sit down and eat as I only do takeout. However the many many times I've been in, the atmosphere has been pretty quiet.

First timers and ordered thru DoorDash. Both dishes were really good and hot when delivered. Looks like this will be our go to restaurant for authentic Chinese food.

Service and food are fine. Fair priced food and the equivalent in quality. I had the 3 sushi combo, it came with miso. The green tea was good. I also bought a melon Ramune because i had never heard of it. Photo is attached.

Came for lunch at recommendation of a friend. Best egg flower soup I ever had. My dining partner loved the eel roll. I like the spicy tuna the best. Good food great lunch specials! Definitely worth a visit. All this food for under $30!

Good food and a wide selection to choose from. Nice being able to mix and match between Chinese and Japanese items.

Do they use MSG? I'm allergic.

I am highly sensitive to MSG and had no adverse reaction to my meal. If you are allergic to it, it would be prudent to ask the staff. I understand that some foods may contain small amounts of MSG that occur naturally.

Salmon and tuna rolls were especially good at the price point offered. One must look and then decide, as each little plate of sushi rolls/veggie items/desserts trundles by on a continuously revolving belt. The menu is broad and features an array of Japanese dishes for those not interested in Sushi. I enjoy sushi and Japanese food, and found this hidden gem in Springfield to be top notch for quality and cost. Family friendly and the revolving belt of small entrees is most enjoyable for children of all ages. Sushi items are offered at three different price points, lending flexibility to those on a budget. Five Stars from visit about 7 pm in mid May, 2026. Best to arrive early for dinner to get adequate seating and best fish. Can't wait to return!

The chicken karaage and calamari are both delicious, not high quality but something about them just makes me order them every time, 8/10 for both. I did not like their seaweed salad at all however, 2/10. I have been playing around with which rolls I get but I've settled on the ichi roll being my favorite, an easy 10/10. I also always get the black pepper tuna and tamago, both 8/10.

Came for dinner at 5p on a Friday without reservation and were seated right away downstairs at the…read morechef's bar area. The environment is lively, mostly because Taro is personable and we were able to see him create beautiful sushi dishes live while hearing him engage with the customers seated around him. It was actually really fun listening to his stories, and seeing how he is passionate about the food he makes. He was excited about the uni and was talking about how the fish he orders is from Spain and how he really wanted to order another great cut of fish. The food was delicious, even down to the house sodas they have. We ordered the summer margarita with fresh berries, lime soda, cold beet appetizer, veggie donburi, chef's choice spicy trio hand rolls, chocolate mochi blackberry cake - and at the end Taro gave us 2 nigiri on the house. The house lime soda - usually soda is nothing to blink an eye at, but the lime flavor was fresh and just the right amount of sweetness. We were surprised by how good it was. The summer margarita was a delight, the alcohol and fresh summer flavors balanced perfectly so that neither overpowered the other. The beet appetizer was fun to try. Beets can sometimes be too earthy/muddy in flavor, but the nutty dressing paired with the salty, crunchy puffed chip paired well with the soft bites of beet. The veggie donburi bowl was much bigger than expected, and everything on it was good. The tempura tofu was well executed - silken tofu encased in a thin/crispy layer that tasted light and not greasy. The overall flavor of the bowl is akin to teriyaki, but less sweet and more of a deep umami and more smoky flavor. The handrolls had a good amount of fish to rice/topping ratio. The wasabi actually has some real wasabi in it, and the pickled ginger and soy sauce made every bite flavorful. Very filling. The fish were all fresh and tasted great. My partner who almost never eats meat couldn't resist and ate a piece of nigiri and loved it. The mochi chocolate cake was very unique and definitely worth trying. I find most chocolate cake too sweet with a generic cocoa powder flavor and too heavy. The texture of the cake is not too dense, but has a nice mochi bite to it while tasting a deep cacao flavor without it feeling too heavy. The sweet/richness is just right paired with bites of fresh blackberries. Honestly, may be the best dessert I've eaten so far this year. The interior is well decorated and pays homage to Akira the anime. The hostess who greeted us seemed stressed and it definitely showed on her face the whole night. But, our server was kind and attentive. Despite the handrolls taking ~20 mins to show up, the food was delicious and worth the wait. There is so much more to try on the menu. Will gladly come back and support Taro and crew!

Solid spot if you catch their happy hour--definitely the move here…read more Happy hour deals are worth it, with a good variety across nigiri, rolls, and apps. The fish itself was decent--fresh enough and clean-tasting, but not blowing you away. Think reliable neighborhood sushi rather than anything premium. Standouts were the baked mussels and simple nigiri--nothing fancy, but they hit. Rolls lean more on the saucy/heavier side if that's your thing.

Because this is a service industry I left my tip based off her service, it's what happened after I left the restaurant that has me . As I was pulling out of my parking space we have a man approach us and knock on our window, we thought we left something so we rolled our window down. His words were, leaving a 2$ tip on a 70$ bill is disrespectful. He then went on to say more things. I pulled back in my spot and went inside to find a manager. Next to the manager was my waitress. I said do you know why you got 2$ and did she know I was just confronted in the parking lot by another employee. She acted like she had know idea, told me it was the bus boy. I then turned too the manager to tell him I was verbally attacked by one of his employees based off my tip, that should have been very shocking too him, it was not, he said I will look into it. Didn't bother to ask for my phone number or anything. I still cannot believe this even happened. Izumi will never get my business ever again!!

It reminds me of a mid-scale, small family owned, hot spot in the Silverlake/Los Angeles area where everybody goes for good food and a fun evening out. We were seated next to the doll from Squid Game. It was perfect spot because it felt like we were in the middle of the room to see everything. We joked that the Squid Game girl should speak every so often. lol Had a few of the Tiger Bomb (beer and shot of soju) drinks to start and for appetizer, we started out with a half order of the honey soy KFC. Those wings were crispy and delicious! For dinner, I opted for the bulgogi bi bim bap. It came sizzling in the cast iron bowl. I was surprised at how much meat they put in this dish. I was expecting just a few small pieces but they load it up for you. It was really good and I like how the sizzling pot was hot enough to actually crisp up the rice on the bottom. My friend had the beef bulgogi japchae. It was a big portion and since I was only allowed to try a little bit, it was all i needed to know that it was delicious. Decor was cute and service was good. Our waiter came and checked on us a few times. I'm excited to come here again next month!

I just ate at Tiger Mama in the Whit for the first time, and it was amazing…read more Tiger Mama has that Korean pocha feel, where the food, drinks, and atmosphere all belong together. I stopped in for a drink while my to go order was being made and had a Tiger Bomb, a beer with a shot of soju mixed in. The drink was great, and the service was incredibly hospitable. Even though I was just waiting on a to go order, they offered me complimentary banchan, little bites of cabbage, carrots, and cucumber, to snack on while I drank and waited. That was much more hospitality than I expected from simply picking up food. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. The portions are generous, everything tasted fresh, and the food felt genuinely high quality. The Korean fried chicken is really, really good. I got the Volcano sauce, and it is legitimately hot. Not restaurant spicy. Actually spicy. I eat the spiciest of the spicy food, and this was a good 8 out of 10 for me, which is probably a 15 out of 10 for most people. It has serious heat, but plenty of flavor underneath it. The dry rub chicken balanced it perfectly, with a tangy, acidic, savory flavor that cut through the richness and paired really well with the Volcano sauce. Crispy chicken, acid, spice, and a cold beer is a pretty hard combination to beat. I also got the kimbap with spicy pork, and that was amazing too. The rice and fillings tasted really fresh, the pork had a great savory sweetness and heat, and the vegetables added freshness and texture. Every bite had a little bit of everything. Between the food, Tiger Bomb, complimentary banchan, and service, I was already thinking I had found a new place I really liked. Then I got home. The only real downside was unfortunately the tteokbokki, which is ironic because that was the entire reason I found Tiger Mama. It was literally the term I typed into Yelp that led me there. And this is where the review gets complicated. Flavor wise, it was amazing. The sauce was sweet, tangy, savory, and a little spicy, with that deep gochujang flavor you want from tteokbokki. The fish cakes were tender, plentiful, and full of flavor. There were glass noodles, mandu, and half a hard boiled egg, giving it a lot of different textures. It felt like a more elaborate, modern take on the classic Korean dish. The rice cakes themselves were fantastic. Great size, wonderfully tender and chewy, and soaked in that delicious sauce. Honestly, the tteok I did receive might be the best I have had while dining out. My problem was that I received three of them. Three individual rice cakes. In an $18 order of tteokbokki. That was genuinely disappointing. Tteokbokki was why I came here. It was what I searched for and what drew me in. The menu picture showed plentiful, delicious little rice pillows sitting in sauce, which was exactly what I had been craving. Instead, I got a large serving of glass noodles, fish cakes, mandu, sauce, egg, and three rice cakes in a dish named after the rice cakes. If this had been the only thing I ordered, I could easily see myself leaving a sour one star review and never going back. But that would not represent the experience I had. Everything else was too good. As someone who loves Korean cuisine, both cooking it at home and eating it out, I can tell there is a lot of care put into this food. Even the tteokbokki was excellent in every respect except the rice cake quantity. The sauce was perfect, the fish cakes were great, the mandu was a nice surprise, and the sweet, spicy, tangy, savory flavors worked ridiculously well together. It also pairs really well with a beer. Or six. Unfortunately, I live too far away to have noticed until I got home, and they were already closed. I'll call tomorrow, and based on the service I received, I'm confident they'll make it right. Three rice cakes for $18 was genuinely disappointing, but I'm not going to let what seems like one portioning mistake outweigh an otherwise excellent experience. The food, atmosphere, hospitality, and care put into everything were too good. Tiger Mama is a great addition to the Whit, and I'll absolutely be back. Especially for more tteokbokki. Hopefully next time, more than three.

Many sushi places have their own versions of Monkey Brain. Makoto's interpretation was a generous amount of spicy tuna and snappy seaweed salad wrapped in slices of a perfectly ripe avocado, striped with sweet eel sauce and spicy sriracha mayo with a dollop of tobiko on top, all set on a bed of crunchy tenkasu. What's not to like? The only thing the Monkey Brain was missing for me was a squeeze of lemon, a bit of ponzu,, or something acidic. Also, I realize this is an appetizer and not supposed to be my meal, but it was my meal, and could have also used some hot steamed rice, which I borrowed from my SO's rice bowl. Ahh, just what this dish needed. Mental note...order a side of rice with my Monkey Brain next time. My saba nigiri sushi, as per usual, was marinated in vinegar and garnished with green onion. Solid. The SO's chicken teriyaki was on a bed of veggies in a cast iron fajita type skillet. She enjoyed it saying it was "pretty good" and "not overly sauced"
