I came in to pick up some pastries for St Joseph's. The pastries are descent. The shell on the st. Joseph pastries weren't that fresh. The cream was good though. The strawberry cheesecake was very delicious. Fluffy and not too sweet. I always get their cookies too. Their cookies with sprinkles are delicious and has a hint of citrus. For the three pastries it cost $12. read more

Have lived in the neighborhood for over 25 years since I was born. I have been coming here with family and by myself to buy bread, ham bread, cakes, or desserts. Everything is pretty affordable and even the cakes are cheaper than your average store. The staff are always kind, willing to help, and I have had only great experiences coming here. Huge fan of the plain mini cheesecakes and the ones with fruit on top. Highly recommend getting those! read more

The key to having a successful business, other than good products which you serve, is helpful employees. I've gotten pizza dough, pastries, and bread here but what truly makes this no-frills bakery stand out is the nice girls that hold the fort down. They're usually pleasant and quick, making it a painless shopping experience each and every time. I've never noticed their rainbow cookies until recently and that's only because their other tray of special rainbow cookies caught my eye first. What's special about them? I bought a cake here for a surprise birthday party and when I got home, I was so disappointed to see the handwriting on it. I wished the salesgirl would have told me that she might not be great at it before she wrote on it and wished she would've offered me alternative options. Even if she showed it to me after she wrote on it, I could've asked her to fix it. It was such an embarrassing moment opening the box and seeing this. read more

I got a cake there for my brother's birthday and it was TERRIBLE. The cream tasted old and no one ate the strawberries because we found a super dead one stuck on the side of the cake. Tell me how a bakery can sell cake that's been sitting there for awhile with strawberries that went bad? Birthday ruined. For what it's worth, the girl who served me was super friendly. At one point, she told me she dropped a strawberry and went to the kitchen to get another one. On second thought, I'm wondering if she actually dropped it or if she just noticed that it went bad. read more

Solid 3 stars but I will have to visit again to see if they make the cut. I came here for some pastries but walked out with cookies instead. Nothing really appealed to me and to be honest some of the pastries looked a bit old and possibly stale. Easy to see when the edges of the cream look a little dry. Not a big selection either. The savoiardi were good though. Sweet and soft. Love giving business to local shops with English signage which is becoming rare these days in south Brooklyn. The girls behind the counter were nice. read more

This place should be a gold-mine, but it isn't. I have been here six times and all I seek is consistency. I keep giving it another chance because I get something fresh and delicious, then the next two visits I get day-old, partially stale baked goods (is there anything worse than a day-old jelly-filled donut at yesterday's price?). It's disappointing to get home with your danish pastries only to learn they were probably delicious yesterday. I see lots of people buying bread, so perhaps that's the specialty, because pastries and donuts certainly are not. Sure, go here: but be certain to ask what was baked today, or what is fresh. Otherwise, you may be disappointed. read more

Semolina bread that's baked right- a Brooklyn gem where you can get great bread and baked goods and regular talk. Family owned and operated these kind of bakeries are slowly disappearing. My small semolina bread was $1.50 and was wrapped in a wax bag. I had an appointment with my doctor, who moved from Queens where I live to Brooklyn Ave P. Because it takes me so long with the F train to get to Ave P I left the house at 6 AM. The appt. was at * A.M I arrived early the office was closed so I decided to get a cup of coffee. The only thing that was open was a bakery. I had the coffee and looking at the counter I saw bread that at first I thought was pecan and raisin. A very pleasant girl informed me that it was Italian Lard Bread. It looked so delicious so I bought it to introduce it to my family. Best bakery ever. I don't live in Brooklyn not do I live in New York but whenever visit Brooklyn a stop at Kings Highway Bakery is a must and whenever I have family from Brooklyn visit me...they're not coming in unless they brought something from Kings Highway Bakery. The bread is unbelievably good. There's something about their seedless Italian bread that is magical. You've gotta buy four or five because before you realize it you've knocked back two whole loaves. I'd move to Brooklyn just to be able to get a fresh loaf every day. read more

They have great bread, thats about it! They neglected to fill me a fresh cannoli, so instead, I received one that has been laying there all day. I took one bite and the shell was MUSH, and the filling was hard. Sad sad excuse for an italian bakery. I mean what Italian bakery doesn't fill a fresh cannoli?! read more

Right next door to my favorite pork store where all my pork needs are satisfied and they know just where to stick it. The place reminds me of my childhood when my grandmother would come out to Long Island and bring 15 fresh baked loaves from here for the holidays. Now I live out West and coming here is an absolute treat. Not being in New York reminds you that bakeries like this are an absolute gem and should be appreciated as the rest of the country is taken over by Kneader's and Subways. Remember what you have, and be grateful for it. read more

Hands down, they have the best bread ever and if you have not had the Lard Bread then you are missing out!!! You need to make sure that you try it. Take it home and toast it with some cheese on the top, mmmmm. They also have amazing pignoli cookies amongst many other sinful delights! read more

Kings Highway Bakery has to be one of the finest if not the best bakery in New York city. I just had a wedding luncheon at the Pearl Room yesterday and Rocco made my daughter's wedding cake. It was so beautiful and delicious I almost didn't want to cut into it. All of my guest couldn't stop raving about how beautiful and delicious it was. I use to come here multiple times...there italan cookies are pretty good..... There are certain items I would get here... Prices are okies...the service here is ok as well .. They don't really understand what you want so they answer sorry we don't have that... This place has been around for over twenty years... A good family friendly places to get your Italian sweets...such as cakes,bread and cookies... I only get there short bread Italian cookies with sprinkles... The only Italian cookies I would ever eat...has a good taste to it... There's a lot of locals shopping here for bakery goods... There is no parking and no seatings... It's a buy it and take it to go kind of place... The product is baked fresh daily...well that's what it says on the wall... I bought freshly piped cannoli and when I got home and actually ate one, the cream tasted like plastic/chemicals. As though maybe the cream was made way in advance and was being stored somewhere that allowed it to absorb like a stale/chemically flavor. I was really confused and upset because I was so looking forward to this damn cannoli. This was my first time in this bakery, and I don't know if this is something anyone has experienced before. Very good bakery. However, the toasted bagels are barely warm. I wish they invest in a better toaster for the bagels. For example, a convection toaster, heats faster and more energy efficient, makes good toasted bagel every time. read more

A fairly sizeable bakery shop next to the subway stop. The pastries were crispy and fresh, had great flavors. Lots of options to choose from. Very much looking forward to going back again. I moved to the neighborhood about a month ago and Kings Highway Bakery is one of my favorite things about living in Gravesend. Everything they make that I have tried is delicious, from cream puffs to fresh pumpernickel bread to chocolate rolls. One day I went in with my boyfriend and we were debating about what to get. The owner said there were fresh danishes and gave us some to try for free. Delicious! We loved the cheese and strawberry danishes in particular. They make fresh bread as well; I particularly recommend the raisin pumpernickel and sesame bread. Everyone who works here is very nice, and the prices are reasonable. read more

Came in today looking for bread for brunch. There were a variety of different breads available. I chose the sesame seeds Italian bread and I was not disappointed. It was freshly baked. Soft on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside. The taste was just as good as the smell. It was very light not dense at all. I will definitely return to try a different type of bread. They also have pastries that I will invest in next time as well. read more

Every time I come in from Pa. I stop by and buy at least 6 loafs of Italian bread and lard bread take it home and freeze it. Can't find it up here. Always great service. Bread is bake all day long. Cookies and pastry's are to dye for too. read more

Still worth it for the pastries and the sit-in service but the to-go counter needs some attention.

I have spent most of my life trying the breads and cookies of various Italian Bakeries in Brooklyn and Queens and I can tell you that Kings Highway tops them all. The Italian breads and rolls are authentic Italian, crisp and flavorful on the outside and soft and fresh on the inside with the perfect texture and consistency. However, I was hopeful when I left with one huge bag. I received three croissants, one chocolate frosted donut with cream inside, three brioche buns, and one muffin. The almond croissant was really good; I'd go back for it again. At Rimini's, their almond croissant is just almond flakes on the outside, but at Nuccio's they have almond paste on the inside of the croissant -- so delicious!
