Vida Verde Kitchen

Vida Verde Kitchen

Vida Verde Kitchen -- A Hidden Gem That's Worth Finding…read more Austin is overflowing with trendy restaurants where the food is decent, the lighting is aggressive, and the wait time requires a light snack and a personality shift. I tend to avoid those places. Vida Verde Kitchen, thankfully, is not that. Tucked into a great area but slightly hidden (the kind of spot you feel proud to "discover"), Vida Verde feels like a restaurant that exists for people who actually want to eat, not just post. The menu is a thoughtful fusion of Tex-Mex, fresh flavors, and Americana--familiar enough to be comforting, but creative enough to keep things interesting. Yes, it's a bit overpriced, but the food earns its confidence. The guacamole is an absolute must, and anything leaning Tex-Mex is consistently solid. I can vouch. The wait staff deserves real credit here--knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in the food and experience, which goes a long way these days. The atmosphere hits that Austin sweet spot: industrial touches softened by lush green foliage. It's stylish without trying too hard, which is rare and appreciated. If I had one note? This place needs a happy hour and a few more solid specials. Do that, and Vida Verde becomes dangerous--in the best way. Overall: a unique, thoughtful restaurant that avoids the hype trap and delivers where it matters. Definitely worth your time (and thankfully, not hours of it).

I lowkey miss Delucca, but this is a good replacement…read more The menu is pretty extensive with it ranging from TexMex to unique flavors. I got the Piggyback Shrimp Tacos with a side of seasonal vegetables (which was grilled zucchini), and I liked the pairing of the shrimp with chorizo as it made the tacos more filling, which is not done often with shrimp tacos. The tacos also came with a very spicy salsa that I just had to take to go because it was soo good. If you want your money's worth, my sister recommended the shrimp fajitas as it comes with the most food and the shrimp was actually good. The service was fast and the waitress was very nice. It retained a lot of the old decor from Delucca which made it feel familiar, and it was nice and quiet.

This family run taqueria is known for its handmade tortillas, consistently flavorful tacos, and friendly, no frills atmosphere. They have a quasi-permanent |mobile structure. It's a food truck situated next to a permanent seating structure. The menu has everything from breakfast tacos and migas to al pastor, barbacoa, bistek, and quesabirria plates. I ordered two tacos - chicken fajita and bacon and egg breakfast taco. The bacon and egg taco had a homemade tortilla with fluffy, well-cooked eggs and lots nicely chopped crisp bacon. This taco had well-balanced and fresh ingredients. My fajita taco was equally good. My breakfast taco was made with hot tortillas and tasty. Also, my server was friendly and super quick. Seating is casual and welcoming. Taqueria Jessica's pricing is a key delineator. The breakfast taco was $2.50. Where can you get a great tasting taco at that price? My chicken fajita was $3.25...another really great price. Taqueria Jessica delivers tasty, authentic Mexican food, made with care, in a casual setting. Highly recommend this restaurant!!!

I was greeted as soon as I walked in. Placed my order - 1 migas taco, please. He asked if I would like anything else, what type of salsa - hottest, of course, and dine in or to go. They took "to go" more seriously than other place ever because my food was out before I could even finish looking around. This was much appreciated since I was already in a rush. Gave me food and kindly sent me on my way. In the end, I paid a little over $3 for friendly, prompt service and a solid migas taco.

We have never had food from that regional cuisine so we thought we'd give it a shot. So stoked that we decided to go there because it was delicious. I got the mixed koobideh with rice and Wife had the beef kabobs with naan, and we both had the Persian hot tea. Wife's plate came out with 2 giant naan, one underneath her kabob, lime wedge, mint, onions, and a grilled tomato and the other on top of it all. Mine had a huge amount of rice along with one chicken and one beef kabob all dusted with sumac, lime, mint, onions, grilled tomato, and a pat of butter. Every thing looked, smelled, and tasted delicious. Seasoned, tender meat-fluffy rice, yum. Yum. Yum. Wife gave me one of her naan. It was larger and thinner than other naan I've had. I tore it into sections and created mini wraps with the meat and rice. Delicious! The hot tea came with sugar cubes and had a lovely rose fragrance. It is an order at the counter restaurant, so make sure you peruse the menu ahead of time so you're ready to order. The decor was traditional and gave the place a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Great food, will be back when we are in the area again!

I decided to order a mini Persian feast: the beef koobideh with rice, doogh yogurt drink, and a saffron ice cream for dessert. This was my first time trying beef koobideh, and unfortunately, this just didn't seem to be very good. The meat itself was okay, decently cooked, and topped with quite a lot of some spice that I can't quite put my finger on. It was okay. The rice though, that is what really disappointed me. Persian rice is usually amazing, but this really didn't seem traditional and it had a strange taste to it. It also came with onion and a grilled tomato, both solid additions. Good portion though. The doogh yogurt drink wasn't homemade like I had hoped, but in all honesty, it still really hit the spot on a hot Austin day. Reasonable price. The saffron rice was also fairly disappointing. Large white chunks (clotted cream maybe? But they were pretty tasteless), gritty texture, not much flavor. Just not really worth it. All in all, a bit of a disappointing dinner in Austin. I'll have to look for a different Persian spot next time I'm in the area.

We ordered the Italian Supreme with added ham and sautéed peppers. It was ready when we got there and was perfectly hot, toasty and LOADED when we picked it up! If you haven't downloaded their app to order check it out cause they also offer rewards and specials! They also have gluten free and lots of vegetarian options as well!
