When we walked in, we were greeted by beautiful decor, though it seemed quite busy, so there weren't many staff members at the front to welcome us. The restaurant had a couple of other guests, but it did take a little while for someone to come over and help us find a seat. Stuart enjoyed his chicken fajitas--they loved them! I chose the fresh burrito to avoid simple carbs. The food was a bit mild in flavor, so I asked for salsa. They have a delicious homemade habanero salsa that's bursting with flavor, and I especially appreciated that it wasn't smoky. That salsa alone earns five stars from me! Aside from that, it was a little challenging to get someone's attention for the check and water, but overall, it was a pleasant experience.

We asked to be moved and she told us that there was nothing open (well over half the tables were empty). The waitress was very friendly and tried to help by turning the fans off (again, we were the only people in this room), and within 5 minutes someone turned they back on. For food, I had the brisket sandwich which was VERY strong vinegar taste. Wasn't a fan. The tater tots were awesome though! My daughter had the Caesar wrap, and said it was almost all Arugula and no sauce or chicken. Fast forward to why they got 3 stars... the burger. It was great. Well worth the visit. The house-made blueberry preserves? Unreal. The local honey and butter? I could have eaten them with a spoon. My mouth is literally watering just thinking about it. Then came the cinnamon roll--crispy, golden edges with that gooey center that makes you involuntarily close your eyes and do a little happy food dance. We also shared The Old Fashioned biscuit sandwich, featuring house-made sausage that was so good it made us question all other sausage. Naturally, we had to "research" the bacon too--perfectly cooked, smoky, and absolutely worth it. We sat out on the porch with my pup, Lily, who was treated like royalty (fresh bowl of water and plenty of adoring attention). She gives the bacon two paws up! The staff? Absolute gems--Mark & Marie were warm, welcoming, and genuinely happy to have us there. It felt more like breakfast at your favorite relative's house than a restaurant visit. We can't wait to go back and eat our way through the rest of the menu. Hissy Fit, you've officially ruined us for all other breakfast spots.

Had not been to this restaurant in a good while, and was a last minute decision. Good choice. The whipped feta is always a treat -- light and creamy with a solid feta taste, but not overpowering, served with a few orange slices and thinly sliced almonds, and pita. Special dish! Beet salad excellent, but the Fresno peppers had way too much heat, so pushed them to side. My wife had the Moroccan curry, which had a very spot on Moroccan flavor (been there 3x), and was a large, filling portion so brought home leftovers. I had the grilled pork chop which was large, perfectly grill with a tasty bourbon-based glaze, served with a large roasted garlic clove. Wonderful dish. From the very beginning, I worked with Tra, the event coordinator. He did an amazing job and was incredibly patient with me because I can be a little picky and indecisive! He listened to what I wanted, answered all my questions, and always guided me in the right direction. Everything came together beautifully. Heaven was the lead on the day of the party, and she was fantastic--warm, helpful, and always making sure everything ran smoothly. Everyone we encountered was so kind and welcoming. Cale was our server, and he truly went above and beyond. We kept him very busy with a party of 25, but he handled it all with a great attitude. He was hardworking, personable, and just an incredibly nice guy. The food and drinks were amazing. I only wish I had been able to eat more myself, but all of our guests raved about everything! Most importantly, my husband was genuinely surprised, and everyone had a wonderful time. Catarina, the general manager, followed up with me afterward to make sure I was happy with the service and how everything went. She was amazing as well, and I truly appreciated her taking the time to personally check in with me. The atmosphere was fun and lively, and the entire event was exactly what I had hoped for. I highly recommend Culinary Dropout for a private event--especially working with Tra, Heaven, Cale, and Catarina. We will definitely be back, although next time it may just be for a relaxed afternoon to watch a game, enjoy the food and drinks, take in the great atmosphere, and give Tra, Heaven, and Cale a much-needed break from my party-planning craziness! Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart for making my husband's 60th birthday so special.

Perfect Birthday Celebration at Roaring Fork!…read more On Sunday I celebrated my birthday at Roaring Fork with my family, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding, and the view overlooking the quarry made the evening even more special. One of our favorite perks was that Happy Hour is available all day on Sundays. We started with a traditional margarita, a mango margarita, and a few mocktails, all of which were excellent. For appetizers, we shared the shrimp cocktail, fresh guacamole, and chicken flatbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and a great way to begin the meal. For our entrées, I ordered the cedar-planked salmon with miso soy glaze, and it was absolutely delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked and practically melted in my mouth. My partner enjoyed the same dish and loved it as well. My youngest daughter ordered the New York strip steak with mashed potatoes, her boyfriend chose the ribeye steak with French fries (they definitely have expensive taste!), and my other daughter had the grilled rainbow trout. Every dish was beautifully prepared and thoroughly enjoyed. The red wine paired perfectly with our meal, and the staff graciously allowed us to bring a birthday cake, which made the celebration even more memorable. Between the exceptional food, beautiful atmosphere, great drinks, and attentive service, it was the perfect birthday celebration. I highly recommend Roaring Fork for a special occasion or a relaxing Sunday meal with family and friends.

More and more, going out to eat in the U.S. has been a disappointing, underwhelming experience. I…read moreunderstand that time is money and that waiters and waitresses are working for their tips, but it truly sucks that it has become so difficult to actually enjoy your time in a restaurant, to just sit and relax without feeling this underlying rush. It's something that seems perfectly possible in pretty much every other country but the U.S. The moment you sit down, the waiter asks what they can get for you. They handed you the menu three seconds ago. There was absolutely no time to glance through it, evaluate your options, or discuss them with whoever you're sharing the table with. This happened at Roaring Fork, but it also happens 95% of the time I go out to dinner. Then the food comes, you eat, say no to dessert, and voilà: the check is waiting for you! Again, you can't just sit back and relax, take your time deciding whether you want dessert, maybe order a coffee or another drink. They want you out of there ASAP, and somehow you're still expected to tip 20%, which is ludicrous, but this is another conversation. Now, specifically regarding Roaring Fork, I do wonder what actually constitutes a "fancy" place. What is it? The view of the lake isn't exactly impressive. The inside is cute. Does having a cute interior make a place fancy, is that it? Or is it the high-priced menu? There's no bread offered at the table, nothing particularly special. I am genuinely lost when it comes to what makes a place "nice" these days.
