I actually got a few seasoning bottles as a Christmas gift, and I've been meaning to come in myself and see the store. The parking is awful. It's a little bit of a maze circling around, not to mention, the parking spots are tight. I have a small Honda, and even I find the spots too tight. Anyway, once you find a spot, thankfully everything is walking distance. I was greeted immediately by a young women. As I walked around the store, you can see that they really take care of their product. Shelves are neat and clean and organized, not jam packed with products. It's just very nice and pleasant. There is so much to see and so much product. I got a little overwhelmed. I had no plan to buy anything as I still have a lot at home, but just wanted to see if anything struck me. I did decide on pomegranate molasses. I remember a recipe calling for it, and so I thought this was a sign to get it and make the recipe. My check out was easy, and quick, and again the same young women was very pleasant. I'm excited to go back, but I'll have a better idea what I'm going to get as I will meal plan before hand

Easily my favorite spice shop in Austin. Also the second-best smelling shop I've ever been in! (#1 goes to Anderson's Coffee Roasters on Kerbey Lane.) Here, there's an exciting cordite-like tingle of cumin that hangs in the air. The Savory Spice Shop has one of the most flexible layouts of products I've seen in a while. Many are grouped by function or flavor profile - for example, there's a section dedicating to BBQ rubs, while another revolves around exotic salts. I'm very impressed by the service and the number of items one can sample. While not inexpensive, it's fantastic that they sell different amounts at high and low price points. They also have a great selection of pre-mixed spice mixes, all of which smell fresh and pungent! The two standouts I recommend are the Whiskey Barrel Smoked Pepper - it supercharges a burger or any steak - and the Shallot-Infused Sea Salt. The aroma of fresh shallots is a dream come true for any budding chef! In sum: If you're a foodie who likes to cook, what are you waiting for? Check this place out!

Great selection of spices! Lots of items can be sampled and you can get a variety of sizes at different tiers of prices. Lots of exotic spices, premade mixes, and different categories, like baking, foreign, bbq, seafood, different meats, and world flavors. Prices are a bit high compared to a regular grocery store but you are getting excellent quality and super fresh ingredients so you actually use less and it's a better deal

Needed some good spices for my coffee and beef stew so I decided to check out a spice shop in the Arbor area of north Austin. I checked on yelp and found Savory Spice Shop.As I entered the shop manager guided me through spice galore and so many to choose from. I love this cute place and so homemade felt like Grandma's home. You also can try the spices by sprinkling some into your hand and actually taste it. The staff is very helpful and will let you know which spice you seek is located. Parking can be a challenge but overall all you can find a spot to park. Lots of Turmeric spices which is my favorite so the tasting procedure doesn't you cost anything which I was delighted. Definitely will return for my spices for Thanksgiving pies, dressing and spices for all the trimmings. Yes, you will fall in love like I did amazing!.

Calling a cooks! The spice shop is a gold mine! You can find a variety of spices from just about every cuisine imaginable all under one roof! They have a large variety of meat spice rubs, infused sugars, baking products, spice mixes and a store jam packed with traditional spices as well as spices that you can only find in the ethnic stores. There is a sampling container for every spice. You are encouraged to smell, taste, and toss the spice on the ground. They also recipe cards for some of the spices and foods to sample in the store. This is a one stop spice shop for all your global cuisine needs. You can get many of the spices cheaper at the ethnic stores, however, there is a price for convenience. And up in the suburbs, we don't have Central Market or the flagship Whole Foods to buy many of the items they have here. PS---Head over to Con Olio next door and pick up a 10% coupon to The Savory Spice Shop.

The fresh produce section is especially impressive -- the fruits and vegetables are beautifully stocked, and the colors are so vibrant that it honestly makes shopping more enjoyable. You can tell they put effort into keeping everything looking fresh and appealing. They also have a great variety of items, from everyday groceries to specialty foods and personal care products. It's one of those places where you can come in for just one thing and end up walking out with a few extra goodies because so many things look tempting. One of my favorite sections here is the flower area. They always have such cute and lovely arrangements, perfect for gifts or just to brighten up your home. We came this time specifically to pick up a birthday cake for my wife, and we're really glad we did. We found a nice small cake, and it turned out to be absolutely delicious -- light, flavorful, and not overly sweet. It was a perfect way to celebrate. Overall, this Whole Foods is a great spot for quality groceries, treats, and little special finds. We'll definitely be back for more yummy stuff in the future. Cheers!

Yesterday, I purchased some chocolates from Golden Eye. This is the first of several treats I have planned for him. Unfortunately, Golden Eye Chocolates will be closing in about a month, so purchase some chocolates before they close down. Golden Eye is named after the golden eye flower (perennial flower with a sunflowerish look). I tried one of their samples...so smooth and creamy unlike any traditional chocolate I have ever tasted. So, I bought six chocolates. They are a little pricey at $20 given their small size, however, a nice Father's day treat. This chocolate is quite unique with flavors like matcha latte, malted grackle, blood and honey and spiced chai. Also, the owner uses items that are unique to Austin such as the golden eye flower, chocolate sunflower and fruit bats. I also like that some of the chocolate is sourced from Venezuela, Tanzania, Costa Rica and Dominican Republic (DR). I tasted DR chocolate for the first time in November when on a cruise and it was absolutely delicious. In addition to selling chocolate pieces, they sell candy bars and coffee. Service was excellent. I learned the chocolates are made in south Austin and transported to the north location. In addition, I learned the owner is a pro nature and that's why she chose the name golden eye after the flower. The shop is small with no seating indoor or outdoor. Hope my husband likes his chocolates...

However, after an experience at a boil where crawfish from The Austin Crawfish Company was served, I will definitely be avoiding any event where their crawfish is served. In particular, I went to Lustre Pearl's crawfish boil where Austin Crawfish Company caters the crawfish. For $15/plate (about 3 pounds of crawfish total), this is horribly overpriced crawfish for unbelievably underwhelming taste and flavor. The crawfish seemed as if they had been overboiled and the actual meat was kinda soggy. Also, I don't know about the rest of you, but I love my crawfish spicy and this definitely wasn't that. It was unfortunately pretty bland and lacked flavor. For $15 for 3 pounds I think it is kinda pricey, so I'll definitely be going elsewhere to get my crawfish fix from now on.
