However, when you step into Cinful Sweets, it feels like you have walked into a Parisian chocolate shop. There's a beautiful paper collage on the wall that is quite striking and immediately grabs your attention. In addition, two walls are covered with magazine articles regarding Cinful Sweets. Apparently, they are a pretty big deal with articles in several prominent magazines. The chocolates are displayed in a way that makes you want to select one of each. You are allowed one chocolate sample per visit. Once I tasted the chocolate, I was an instant Cinful convert. The chocolate is rich, smooth and melts in your mouth. I was looking for chocolate for the hubs for our anniversary, and Cinful Sweets was the welcomed choice. My purchases included a red heart, chocolate bear and some sugar treats (ok...I confess, the sugar treats were for me). Smile. I got the opportunity to meet the owner and certified chocolatier Cinthya Romriell. She was super sweet with a genteel demeanor. Cinthya said she trained under some of the world's most renowned chocolatiers. The quality of the chocolate is outstanding. She said most of her clientele are corporate businesses and folks looking for gift giving. In addition, I like the play on words with the chocolate shop...Cinthya minus the "thya" Cinful Sweets.

The shop itself is small but super cute, with a cozy seating area where you can play games and enjoy your sweets. Definitely a hidden gem--I'd recommend it for any chocolate lover (or even if you're just along for the ride like me).

Yesterday, I purchased some chocolates from Golden Eye. This is the first of several treats I have planned for him. Unfortunately, Golden Eye Chocolates will be closing in about a month, so purchase some chocolates before they close down. Golden Eye is named after the golden eye flower (perennial flower with a sunflowerish look). I tried one of their samples...so smooth and creamy unlike any traditional chocolate I have ever tasted. So, I bought six chocolates. They are a little pricey at $20 given their small size, however, a nice Father's day treat. This chocolate is quite unique with flavors like matcha latte, malted grackle, blood and honey and spiced chai. Also, the owner uses items that are unique to Austin such as the golden eye flower, chocolate sunflower and fruit bats. I also like that some of the chocolate is sourced from Venezuela, Tanzania, Costa Rica and Dominican Republic (DR). I tasted DR chocolate for the first time in November when on a cruise and it was absolutely delicious. In addition to selling chocolate pieces, they sell candy bars and coffee. Service was excellent. I learned the chocolates are made in south Austin and transported to the north location. In addition, I learned the owner is a pro nature and that's why she chose the name golden eye after the flower. The shop is small with no seating indoor or outdoor. Hope my husband likes his chocolates...

It's a busy area, and the coffee shop itself had a decent crowd. It also looks like a popular spot for people to come and work. I met up with a buddy to catch up, and we both ordered iced coffee. I also got a frosted cinnamon roll. The baristas were nice, but unfortunately, neither the coffee nor the cinnamon roll really did it for me. The iced coffee tasted extremely bland, even after I added some creamer and sugar. It just didn't have much flavor and wasn't hitting the way I'd hoped. The cinnamon roll was also extremely dry. Usually, if something is just a little below par, I'm pretty easygoing about it, but this one was legitimately not very good. Great location, nice staff, and a cool atmosphere for working or hanging out, but unfortunately the food and drinks just weren't there for me. I probably wouldn't go back.
