Ok Austin catering hasn't catered for our wedding yet, but this is based off of our experience at the tasting. Will update later after the wedding! The food is phenomenal. We literally couldn't get enough of the mushroom gnocchi (I could literally eat it every day and not get tired of it. The steak was rather dry, but the salmon and chicken were delicious so we will likely go with those options. KD seems very knowledgeable and gave us a ton of different options to pick from. The signature cocktails are more affordable than any caterer in town. And they give you or donate any unused food that was kept at a food safe temperature at the end of the event! read more

Their food was delicious as well as unique, which is challenging when cooking for such large parties. We have received countless compliments post-wedding about how great our food was! Our point-person was Flavia, who was a fantastic communicator. She was prompt with her responses and always happy to make as many tweaks to the menu as we needed. Austin catering took care of everything- not only the food, but also the bartending, rentals, linens, clean up and even the cake cutting! Their staff was professional and a well-oiled machine. I was blown away by the tasting, ate every last bite on my plate at the wedding, and got rave reviews from family and friends who all said it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. We used Austin Catering for our wedding back in October and we were so pleased with how all the setup food came out! They provided a lot for our wedding: staff to serve food as well as setup the ceremony and reception spaces, all the linens and plate settings that we used, as well as delicious food! Everything was immaculate. We got their crostini bar as well as some passed polenta bites for our cocktail hour. We got the roast beef, mushroom gnocchi, roasted vegetables and mixed salad for our main course. Everything was fantastic, especially the mushroom gnocchi (I have had multiple people bring it up to me after the fact). So although I was sure they were worth the money, I just didnt have a lot to work with. However, Christy worked with me until we found something in my price range that was perfect! She must have shown be 12 proposals and in the end she felt like family. I had to do everything online as I am stationed out of state and she was so flexible and helpful! We originally worked with Lisa Thompson and, after postponing our wedding due to COVID-19, worked with K.D. Tucker. Both were true joys to work with! Lisa helped arrange our original menu and tasting prior to booking, and she made this process SO easy, which was especially impressive because we could not be on-site (destination wedding) and we had a lot of different guest preferences and dietary restrictions to consider. Instead of a generic menu with options to choose from, we told Lisa what we needed to consider, and she crafted us the perfect menu - and was also so gracious when we kept adding and taking away items in trying to balance food and budget. The transition for postponing the wedding and to working with K.D. was seamless, and K.D. was so ready and professional with reminding us of deadlines, answering all of our questions (some even a bit miscellaneous) leading up to the day-of, and dealing with last-minute issues without us even having to think about them. Throughout the whole process, both Lisa and K.D. were incredibly responsive and attentive to our needs and wants. We had tastings at several catering companies and decided that Austin Catering really came through in quality, taste, appearance, and price for wedding food. I can't say enough good things about this place. My boyfriend and I have frequented their meal delivery/pick up services that they started during the COVID lockdown. Everything has been absolutely delicious. So far we have tried the breakfast strata, custom cheese flight for two, meatloaf, herb crusted beef medallions and the burgers. I ordered the sweet potato casseroles for Thanksgiving and due to changing circumstances, just had opportunity to taste test one of them...and was disappointed....they have little taste....I feel if you add some butter, a little sugar or spenda, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice, it will really perk the taste up for the good....very bland as given to me...even with more glazing and pecans would have helped...texture is good but taste needs help....the pumpkin pie, according to those eating it, was very good....good service and on time for pickup of the items.... read more

I have to say I was really, really impressed with how good the food was at our wedding. It was probably my favorite food of any wedding I've been to (okay maybe I'm biased, but we got a couple compliments to that effect.) Day-of food was even better than I remembered it when we visited for a tasting. Kristin was great and easy to work with, responded to our questions quickly. Throughout the whole planning process, it was clear that K.D. was very knowledgeable and a great resource to go to for advice and suggestions. One thing that really made Austin Catering stand out to us was the way they plate their food. I was very hesitant to do a buffet style food service at my wedding, but seeing their food presentation and how everything was plated on beautiful serving dishes and not standard chaffing dishes was a huge plus! Impressive, Flattering and Fulfilling... June 3, 2011 we had the opportunity of a lifetime to share our wedding with a little over 100 friends and family at Natures Point nestled above Lake Travis in Lago Vista,TX. As with any wedding the Bride and Groom have so many choices to make but a very important issue with us was our catering. We interviewed three catering companies for our event and eventually did tastings with two of them. Hands down we were delighted when tasted and picked Austin Catering. If you have the opportunity or need a caterer, you must look no further than Austin Catering. We gave them our ideas and our budget and they provided us a menu and ideas that delivered right in our sweet spot! We were pretty fickle about our menu as we both enjoy cooking and tasting all different types of cuisine. Austin Catering was able to provide us with menu options that not only pleased our palate but also fulfilled our desire to have food choices that represented us. We have since the wedding talked to guests that were impressed enough to mention how much they enjoyed the food. We chose to go with a menu that included very normal protein, vegetable, starch items but Austin Catering delivered those with a twist of there very own that was both unique and savory. They even "catered" to our request (pun intended) to have a specialty menu item that included figs and Gorgonzola cheese. Somehow they delivered on the request with perfection by doing a roasted fig and cheese pizza type creation that was delicious. There were simply too many menu options for us to discuss here in one post but I will say that the menu pulled together by Susan H. and the staff at Austin Catering was simply "Impressive, Flattering and Fulfilling." I think it's a general issue for all brides to NOT eat or drink anything during their wedding - but with Austin Catering and the help of our planner Bethany Thomas from En Pointe Weddings (http://www.enpointeweddings.com/) we actually DID get to eat! In fact, Austin Catering assigned us a PERSONAL waiter named Victor (per Bethany's request/suggestion) who brought us waters, drinks, meals - anything we needed! We took 15 minutes post vows to eat and take a moment with each other in our getting ready suite, and the meal was AMAZING. Latin inspired pork, chicken, veggies, salad - so good! I heard that a few folks didn't feel full, but we opted for Family Style meals - so that could have been a problem at just one table. I didn't get to see much else after that, but I've heard nothing but great things about them from the guests. Even my big italian family LOVED the meal, and they can be wary of anything outside of pasta. They were great - they helped set up, tear down, mix drinks, you name it! They even booked us in for a fast tasting on Dec 22 - which is a REALLY busy time of year. They picked up linens, bussed tables, and helped clean red wine spills. We even had a young guest (2 years old) who got really sick during the dinner, and the parents had to take him home fast - and Austin Catering boxed up three meals "to go" for them! Simply put, the best catering experience I've ever had. I ambitiously planned a housewarming party timed just three weeks after I relocated to Austin. I reached out to Austin catering and spoke to Audrey, who assuaged my fears and put together an experience that I will remember forever, as will my guests. Within just a few weeks, she designed a menu for both stationary and passed hors d'oeuvres (high-end comfort food), a full premium bar (with some custom modifications), and then we put together a plan to turn my office into a kitchen so that my guest area could be open and uninterrupted by her team. We used Austin Catering for our company holiday party last year. I wasn't part of the initial planning but from what I heard and experienced, it was a rocky start. The day of the holiday party, they were late setting up and we were told prior that we wouldn't have to prior linens for the buffet table. However that changed during set up of the event. Now the food was blah. Definitely nothing to write home about. It could have been we just picked the wrong option but it was not hot.The only thing that I enjoyed was the tostadas. Since we did not enjoy our experience, our company was offered a credit to use within the next year. I'm currently planning a small event for 30 people at the office and reached out to Austin Catering (K.D.). I only wanted to spend the amount of the credit and have the food as a drop off service. After two weeks of emailing back and forth, the proposal that was sent totaled to more than the credit and I was told that they were no longer available on that date. I emailed them 8 days ago and requested that the credit be refunded to us by check and that we will not be using Austin Catering in the future. I have not received a response since. read more

I used Austin Catering this past December for my company holiday party. I have refrained from writing a terrible review until now because of what was promised to me for the poor service I received back in December. To make this review short and sweet I will just say a few things... The caterers upon their arrival were scrambling to put out what was necessary and asked me questions like "where should this go?" They were given a specific PDF printed map of where the tables and food were to be located. I was busy setting up decorations and did not have time to give orders to them. Any time I tried to communicate with the staff they acted as if I was inconveniencing them. They had told us that they would bring linens for the tables, but upon arrival they had nothing. The food was extremely cold, not a single burner was placed under the food trays to keep the food hot. I requested that we please have allergens listed on all of the food items and of course not a single allergen was listed. Dessert was not clearly distinguished from heavy appetizers and this led the guests to be very confused when making plates. The staffing fees are crazy high and they have even more hidden fees in what they like to call the "operations fee." After the party I told them exactly how I felt and the feedback was received well. The owner of Austin Catering, K.D., personally called me and apologized. She even offered a $500.00 credit that she said we could use at any point this year. When we told them this month about a small game night we were going to have they last minute bailed and told us the date was now no longer available and they had the audacity to ask US to change the date of our event. We got engaged a few months after moving to Portland, OR from Austin and decided that having our wedding in Austin would be the best choice. Austin Catering may have been our very favorite wedding vendor! We met with pretty much all of the better-known caterers in town and were immediately impressed by the responsiveness, detail orientation, creativity, and ability to nail our vision when designing our menu that Austin Catering showed. Their pricing is on par with other caterers in town - neither the most nor the least expensive - but the quality of their food and their service is the very best. In fact, you could argue that they're a bargain because their pricing includes full reception coordination, right down to meeting to choose linens/rental items, setting up decor, and making sure that everything is sent home with the right people at the end of the night. We ended up saving a ton of money by bypassing a full day-of coordinator because of this. And, our Austin Catering planner Susan was phenomenal. She was ridiculously speedy in replying to any questions we threw her way - big and small - and was always thoughtful and thorough in her responses. Heck, she even seemed to take pleasure in saving us a few dollars here and there on rental items and the like! She has so much expertise, knowledge, and unflappability that we knew we were in excellent hands throughout the planning process and the wedding day. She shared her opinion when we asked, which was such a blessing because we trusted her implicitly and appreciated her perspective as a seasoned professional. On our actual day, the entire Austin Catering team was so friendly, warm, and capable - they helped set the tone of relaxed elegance that we had hoped we could create. I'd worked with Austin Catering during my sister's wedding last weekend. It was a 35-person, at-home event but Austin Catering treated us with the same importance and helpfulness as if we were a large event. Christy was extremely responsive, helpful, and open to communication to firm up details. Our on-site staff, particularly our waitstaff member Jacqueline, were awesome and went above and beyond to make sure the day went smoothly and provide help outside of what was expected. The food served was absolutely delicious and their prices are more than reasonable. The one helpful suggestion I would make to potential clients is to clarify the plating of their items served - the short ribs we had were served a bit differently than we'd expected. They are incredibly professional, are a full-service caterer (meaning they do the service, rentals, etc and acted as the coordinator for our wedding reception) and the food was incredible.
