Austin Catering catered our wedding and rehearsal dinner and did an outstanding job. I used them after interviewing 11 caterers in the Austin area. They are incredibly professional, are a full-service caterer (meaning they do the service, rentals, etc and acted as the coordinator for our wedding reception) and the food was incredible. One of the reasons I liked them off the bat is that they came up with creative, delicious menus based on our ideas for the food. They were very flexible with any changes and the results were impressive. We had Mexican food for the rehearsal dinner and Mexican and Italian for the wedding reception. I cannot say enough good things about Austin Catering. I worked with Erika McClain to plan my wedding and she was amazing. She developed a menu that worked perfectly with our tastes and budget, and offered great suggestions to modify certain recipes to make it the way we wanted. She even provided gluten & dairy-free guidance for some of my guests. I used to be in the catering/restaurant business and really appreciate the knowledge, professionalism and care that they put into making my event a success. And most importantly, I am still hearing from guests how much they enjoyed the food! I cannot remember the last time I really enjoyed wedding food. Austin Catering provided all the food and rentals for our wedding. They did a fantastic job. Throughout the many months of working with them, they were exceptionally responsive and professional. We worked with Audrey, and together with her team, she helped us in countless ways, revising our contract maybe 20 times without a second thought. Christy was the catering coordinator for our wedding and everything went off without a hitch. We had a plated meal dinner for 130 guests, 2 bar areas, and several special requests that Christy and team delivered on without hesitation. The menu was prosciutto stuffed chicken, beef medallions, pesto pasta, veggies with a Caesar salad, and it was just as delicious as it sounds! There were even 3 types of wine waiting at the table for me when we got seated... heck yeah!! Christy made the whole catering process as seamless as possible. We had a great experience with Austin Catering for our wedding last week. All of our guests were impressed with the taste of the food and how efficient they were at serving family style at each of our tables. The food was served hot and the waitstaff was amazing. There wasn't a single unhappy guest in the room! They catered my wedding September 27, 2012 and they did a fantastic job! First of all the Caesar salad is awesome, it has a citrus kick in the dressing that I really like. Second the shrimp diablos and fried artichoke hearts are both phenomenal. We chose chicken picotta and beef medallions for the entree and both were amazing (the horseradish sauce that comes with the beef medallions is to die for!) Austin catering organized my birthday party. They made it memorable. It was a small party, 30 guests at my house, but without exception everyone was impressed with their service and food. The peppers stuffed with Lamb hors d'oeuvre was a particular hit! When I started looking for a caterer I was struck by some other companies that only wanted to plan the party via email, which to me is very annoying and impersonal. When I contacted Austin catering Susan called me right away, and we started planning my party. She was very patient with our requests and changes. On the night of the party Christy, John, Jacqueline, and Salimah were such a great crew. They showed great professionalism, they were on top of every detail and made every guest to feel special. My husband and I had Austin Catering cater our wedding and were happy that we chose them. Christy even helped us with selecting wine to stock at the bar. We had a buffet style dinner but what helped make it special was that an attendant was present to cut the beef at the buffet table for guests. To be honest many guests commented that the food was slightly cold when they received it but there are many factors at play at a wedding and it may have had something to do with timing. We also ran out of their appetizer cheesecake early so my husband and I did not get to sample it but from what I hear it was a big hit. We thought that we had found the caterer that we were going to use, but then we had our tasting at Austin Catering. Not only is the food incredible (the avocado tacos and braised beef short ribs were game changers), but KD and the catering staff are wonderful to work with. I chose Austin Catering because of the wonderful reviews it had gotten on yelp. I was very disappointed in their bar service. I had wanted to have a special day for my husband's 40th birthday. When I spoke to Susan she assured me the bartenders were great. They could make any drink as long I had a recipe for "special" drinks. I also said I would provide the mixers. The bartender was a very nice person but I was very disappointed in his bar service. I had a small dinner party with 12 guests (3 of whom did not drink!). My husband's favorite drink is a mojito. I supplied the limes and plenty of mint. One of my guests had to make the simple syrup for Frank (the bartender). Frank literally put the alcohol and simple syrup and put 2 leaves of mint and called it a mojito. It tasted horrible...I am no bartender, but I even know that you have to muddle mint into the drink. I was thoroughly disappointed as the bar service was the one thing my husband was looking forward to. When I spoke to Susan the following Monday, she tells me that it is my responsibility to provide simple syrup and squeezed lime juice. When I was told that I would provide mixers, never was I told that I had to provide those--I assumed the bartender (who had an hour to set up) would be doing all that as long as gave him the supplies. Susan also stated that Frank did not have enough time to set up. Typically they wanted an hour and half. We only had 8 guests that were drinking (the ninth person did not show up until we were 2 hours into the party), I think one hour is plenty of time to set up for 8 people! The food was acceptable to good. Loved the quail--just wish they had more. Overall, the experience left me very disappointed and I did not appreciate Susan's response that somehow this was our fault. read more

They were the most fantastic company to work with for our wedding at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center early this month. Susan and Kristen both worked with us to plan the most beautiful, perfect day. The guests all commented on the beauty of the setting, the set-up, and of course, the fantastic food. I actually just received a card from a friend thanking me for inviting her to our wedding. One of the things she pointed out was "The best wedding food ever!" That's not the first time I have heard this either. Out of all the details in our wedding, the food is by far the one we have gotten the most compliments on. We worked with Susan throughout the process and she was fantastic. She is incredibly easy to get ahold of - she answered emails usually within minutes of me sending them, no matter what crazy time of day it was. She was very knowledgeable about their food offerings and worked with us to create the most amazing Texas themed meal! At her recommendation we tried their smoked salmon and loved it so much we ended up offering 3 proteins at our wedding. Between the salmon, green chili and goat cheese stuffed chicken, or flank steak with chimichurri sauce, how could we choose?? Susan set up all of our glassware and linen rentals, leaving one less thing for me to do and one less vendor to work with. And, wedding night, Susan was there! I imagined after we got everything set up, her job was done. Absolutely not! She checked in with me to make sure everything was perfect (Yes!) and I was sure surprised to see her! I cannot tell you how many guests at our wedding said we had the "best wedding food ever"! Susan and staff took care of the food, bar and rentals for us and it was such a pleasure working with them. Everything down to the last detail was perfect. They are super easy to work with and extremely quick to respond when you have questions. Absolutely zero complaints! We had the pulled pork tostadas, shrimp cocktail and BLT bites for hors d'ouevres and everything was a huge hit! For dinner we chose spinach salad, roasted vegetables, pecan crusted chicken, steak medallions and the mac and cheese bar. Yummy! And they even packed leftovers for us. Their food was delicious and full of flavor. I can't tell you how many times I have gone to weddings where the food was bland and the chicken was dry. Every single thing we tasted was soooo delicious. At the wedding with so many people, the food was still so amazing. I can't tell you how many guests came up to me asking what all they had on the menu because they wanted to try to recreate them at home. The avocados were a complete hit! I worked with Susan, who was so incredibly friendly and helpful. I gave her my budget and she gave me options that were going to allow us to stay within it. We used Austin Catering for my daughter's wedding last weekend. We worked with Louise Jewell and she was an absolute jewel. She met with us 3 times: once at the Austin Catering office for a tasting, once at our home, and once at the reception venue. She is professional, calm, helpful, and punctual. She helped us plan the layout of the reception & she ordered our rentals. The reception was partially outdoors and it rained. Louise took charge and rearranged the venue to bring all of the outdoor tables, etc. inside. The food at the reception was great. The other staff members at the reception also did a wonderful job. At one point, part of the outdoor tent was sagging due to the weight of the rain water collecting in a low spot and an Austin Catering staff member even came out and used a large broom t0 lift the sagging area of the tent to get the water to run off. We had a beautiful wedding at Villa Antonia in Jonestown, Texas and one thing that people cannot stop talking about is how amazing the food was. It was so good and I can't say enough except to just go try it out and you will see. Austin Catering also had a beautiful presentation from the appetizers to the buffet, as well as all the tables and linens. It was one request that my father had was for the presentation to look classy and not just in metal buffet trays and they exceeded our expectations and looked great! Tiffany did a phenomenal job organizing our catering for the wedding and she was amazing to work with. She was very easy to get a hold of and answered all of our questions to make us feel comfortable with what we were doing and we put our full trust in her. They have great suggestions and can do almost any types of food which is very nice in how accommodating they are. We looked at various places and also one important aspect is that they say everything up front and have no hidden fees that are slapped on at the end. When we went to other caterers they said one thing at the meeting and then when they sent you the "quote" it was very different so make sure you check that. Tiffany was very up front and said everything we needed to know so there were no surprises. All in all this was a great company to work with and Tiffany was an amazing person to work with in putting together our catering for the wedding. read more

When I chose my venue they provided me with a list of preferred vendors and Austin Catering was on that list. With the choices that were provided Austin Catering was a no brainer. We are from Houston but traveled to Austin for our wedding day. We did a lot of research and reading reviews and heard nothing but positive things about Austin Catering. Most of my communication was done over email and they were always very responsive and extremely positive. I knew I would be in great hands even without an official food tasting. The day of the wedding flew by so fast that I did not get to eat much of the food but a few bites but what I did eat was sooooo delicious. We did a buffet style dinner but some of our guest who where last in line did not get desired portions and that is the only reason I am giving Austin Catering 4 stars instead of 5. They did not keep the food stocked and only brought out small portions at a time instead of keeping the trays full. They other complaint that I heard is that when guest would get their food, set it down on the table and then they would get up to get a drink at the bar or go use the rest room, they would come back and their plates would be gone. The staff was too quick to clean up and my guest did not get to finish their meals. I do want to say that these are all comments that I heard from guest after we had returned from our honeymoon and it certainly did not spoil my experience. All in all working with Austin Catering was very positive and I would highly recommend them. My mom did say that the staff was very helpful and she enjoyed working with them.
