We celebrated our daughter's wedding at The Wayback last weekend with 45 guests, and the experience…read morewas exceptional from start to finish. Having spent my career in business and hospitality, I do not offer that assessment lightly. The food, beverages, wine program, staff, management, and property were all top-tier. Most of our guests stayed on site, filling every cottage on the property. Having the bride and groom, our immediate family, and their closest friends together in one place defined the weekend. No one needed to drive or coordinate transportation so that everyone could enjoy one another's company. We hosted the rehearsal dinner on Friday evening, followed by the ceremony and reception on the beautiful Hill Country grounds on Saturday. Both evenings concluded in "the Grove," a lawn at the center of the cottages where guests gathered after hours. We made some of our most treasured memories there. The cuisine was outstanding. Guests chose from vegetarian pasta, chicken breast, and a Wagyu steak, and the team seamlessly accommodated every dietary requirement. The Watermelon Margarita was the highlight of the bar menu, and the team's recommended Super Tuscan was superb. What really distinguished The Wayback was its team. Amy was simply remarkable. Throughout the weekend, she met every need, often anticipating requests before we made them, and executed every detail exactly as planned. Stefania, the general manager, was a constant, gracious presence on the grounds. She guided our wine selections and made certain I always had my preferred drink in hand. The entire staff was warm, attentive, and thoroughly professional. She is my only daughter, and thanks to this team, I was fully present for every moment instead of managing logistics. I could not have asked for more. For anyone looking for a wedding weekend, not just a wedding day, I recommend The Wayback without reservation.

I made a reservation over a week ahead of time to celebrate the birthday of one of my friends and…read morepaid the $25 deposit to hold the reservation. Our reservation was on June 11th at 7:30. We arrived at 7:32. When our party of four arrived, we were told there was no table for us. Even though there were two tables available in the dining room. We were told that those tables were reserved for someone else and we could not sit at that table. We were told that it was another reservation for 730. We were not offered any accommodation, even though there were four barstools at the bar open, except to sit outside on the patio in the 90° heat. We refused and decided to find a different place to eat. It was very shocking that they treated us in this manner as I have been a guest at the Wayback multiple times and never had this experience. It was almost like it was a prank. We went back to the car to find another restaurant to celebrate my friend's birthday. While we are making arrangements for that, I realized that I had paid $25 for this reservation that they were not honoring and I wanted to make sure I requested that be returned. I went back into the dining room at 7:50 and the table for four that they refused to sit us at was still available. Amy, the young lady who said she was "like a manager", treated us as though we had done something wrong. When I went back in and requested my $25 back from her she made some comment regarding my refund tied to whether we gave them a bad review for the incident (one of my friends as we walked out of the dining room, said she would be leaving a review). I called the main number the following day and spoke with Vicky. Vicky told me she wanted to look into the situation and figure out what had happened. I told her the intention of my call was to get my the deposit refunded. She called me back a few hours later explaining it was their fault. She said that there was another person in the restaurant that had my same name and they wanted to move from the patio to the dining room and the staff gave away our reservation to that party. Understandable. She was apologetic and told me she would take care of the refund and also offered to send me $50 gift card through Toast. I'm not even really sure how that works or what that is, but I really just wanted to close out the whole deal. No refund or Gift Card ever showed up. I know sometimes that can take a little bit of time so I waited until the 25th and called back. No one answered. I left a message and did not get a returned call. I called again at about 11 AM on the 26th again no answer. I did not leave another message. I called again around 4pm. Amy, the young lady we dealt with on the evening of the event, answered the phone. She said the people in the office had already left for the day and she would take my phone number and name and somebody would call me on Monday. She called me back about 30 minutes later telling me she needed the card number that the reservation was made under. I didn't really feel comfortable giving that to her so I just said I would wait to hear from the office staff on Monday. Well no one called on Monday. No one called on Tuesday either. I called in on Wednesday and spoke with Vicky again. She said she had gone out of town and doesn't know why the refund was not taken care of. She said she was needed some time to look into it. I asked her to call me back when she had some resolution. I did not hear back from Vicky but today I got an email from toast that a $25 refund to my credit card had been run.... and I never provided my card number to have that refund issued. I do not take any pleasure in writing a bad review for a business. I waited to write this review until there had been full resolution so I gave them plenty of opportunities to communicate clearly and make this situation right. It kept getting fumbled which leaves me with the impression that they don't care about customer service.

A Send-Off Worth Celebrating!…read more We started things off right with the deviled eggs and homemade bread -- simple, but done perfectly. Then came the main event: the 3-meat plate with turkey, brisket, and chicken. The portions were generous and every bite was packed with flavor. The corn and beans on the side rounded out the meal perfectly. By the time we got to dessert, I was already stuffed -- but I couldn't leave without taking the homemade peach cobbler home. It was calling my name from across the table! I'll be back with a full review of that soon, but I have a feeling it's going to be just as good as everything else. My husband and I initially wanted another well-known BBQ Asian fusion restaurant to cater our…read morewedding and were pretty set on it. But after our guest list grew, we had to move locations and our venue was no longer within their catering vicinity. I searched high and low for different vendors that fit the fusion that we wanted, but couldn't find anything that fit just right (or that didn't break the bank). Then I somehow stumbled across Rebel Catering on Google. They had a wide variety of packages for food varying from Asian, to bbq, to Mexican. They didn't have a ton of reviews, and it seemed like they mostly did corporate events, but I gave them a call. I'll be honest, I was a bit apprehensive of how incredibly chill Rahul is at first (because I was already stressed out), but when I told him about our vision, he immediately checked with his chefs and created an incredible menu for us. My mom and mother in law's primary request was copycats of the other restaurant's corn fritters, and he even delivered on that. I'll attach a picture of the menu, but our minds were blown at the quality and freshness of the food. Buffet style brisket is HARD and he and his team crushed it. I even had friends with allergies and he accommodated them without question. The most popular part of the night though was the shaved ice. Part of Rebel Catering is their shaved ice package with alcoholic shaved ice (TABC bartender included). They had custom flavors to match our Asian fusion theme, and even brought their truck in to serve our guests! They also created a custom flavor named after our cat and created a sign with a cute cartoon of him. They also had tons of other drinks including sodas, jelly drinks, boba drinks, and energy drinks. TLDR: HIRE REBEL CATERING. Your guests will love you forever.
