    Half a chicken - delicious!
    Katherine A.

King Dough is relatively new to Carmel, serving Korean style chicken and beer. We were welcomed when we entered and invited to sit anywhere. We shared a Half Original Fried Chicken. I was not in the mood for spicy heat or sweet sauces, so we went with the basic fried chicken, which was well seasoned. The chicken was cut into small pieces and a half of chicken was plenty for two people. The meat was juicy and the breading was really good. I'd put the chicken up among the top fried chickens that I've had locally. The pickled radish on the side is a nice touch. The fries are good, too and not overly salty. They tasted hand cut and fresh. They were nice and hot! Isabella, our server, was friendly and efficient. She kept our waters full. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was piping hot. We didn't have beer because it was early in the day, but they have a decent selection of beer that is reasonably priced. The dining room has a sports bar feel with several tv monitors playing sports. Booths and tables are comfortable. The place is clean. We snagged street parking. There is also a lot behind the building. We'll be back. The chicken is really good.

TL;DR: Firecracker dry rub wings were amazing, get them if you like a numbing spice. Pizza had a good flavor but a bad bake. Price is definitely on the high side for what you get. Food: The firecracker dry rub wings may be my favorite dry rub wings I've ever had. Nice spice level with a good numbing kind of spice. I would come back just for these wings. The pizza is a more complicated topic. I had the destroyer. Good flavors, ratio of sauce to cheese and toppings was good, but it was a combination of slightly burnt crust (yes burn not just a nice char, especially around the outside edge) that was also soggy in the middle. This was honestly a pretty big let down as I'm still searching for a go to pizza place, but the bake really left a lot to be desired. Price: For two people we got 1 order of firecracker wings (8) and 2 14-in pizzas which came out to about $70 which is for sure on the high side given the amount of food. 4 wings and half a pizza would feed an adult who was an average level of hungry. Without the wings I would have easily crushed the 14-in pizza in one sitting. Service: Service was fine, didn't get a water refill until after our meal was done but I didn't try to flag anyone down for it either. Ambiance: Clean restaurant, not the most comfortable chairs, and kind of a strange mix of classic pizza place and slightly upscale finishes. The music wasn't overly loud and the lighting created a darker atmosphere. Overall: I would come back for the firecracker wings without a second thought. If I try the pizza again it'll be because I'm already here for the wings.

I decided to try a new place for pizza, and found this in Carmel. I really want to like the place but I'm left with a feeling that it's just so-so. It took me about 25 minutes to be seated, which is OK because they were busy. It took another 10 minutes for someone to come to my table to get my drink order. Several minutes later, the waiter returned to take the rest of my order. It took 32 minutes for my 14 inch thin crust pizza to come out of the oven. When my waiter dropped off the pizza, he asked if I wanted crushed red peppers or Parmesan cheese, and I asked for both. He never returned with either one of them. In fact, he didn't return until it was time to bring my bill. The employees seem to be trying too hard to give this place a stoner/Broad Ripple vibe. They wear knit caps with their T-shirts, sweaters off the shoulder, sunglasses indoors at night... They're just trying too hard to look cool. They should probably focus on their customer service a little bit more. The pizza itself was good, but could have been much better if they used a perforated pizza pan. They use a cheap old flat pizza pan, which holds all of the grease underneath the crust. It winds up soaking your pizza. If they used a perforated pan, that grease would be away from your crust, and it would be much more crisp. The pizza was OK, but for $25 I expect it to be a little bit better than what I received.

It was our first time at the Carmel King Dough location and we will definitely return! We've frequently visited the downtown location, but knew we'd be in Carmel on Tuesday evening to take advantage of their 2 for Tuesday special. This included a large salad and 14" speciality pizza for $35. Everything was delicious as always and our service was exceptional (thanks, Nadia!). The inside was clean and spacious. It's always interesting when restaurants have direct kitchen views. Easy to find parking and lots of other bars/restaurants nearby if you wanted to hop around. We didn't drink this evening, but loved their selection of Pax Verum beers. We will definitely return on a Friday for their happy hour!

We ordered carryout online from this place. That's where things started going downhill. First of all, you can't order off the full menu online. There are several appetizers which are not available (we wanted cauliflower wings) for carryout. When we completed our order, it gave us an estimated pickup time of 1 hour later. These aren't deep dish pizzas. They're hand-tossed thin crust pies that only take 20 minutes to bake. We ordered 2 14" pizzas and they were pretty expensive ($20-25 each). And then there's the mandatory 15% service charge. For that, we should have just eaten there (never mind they have this weird item online where you can just give them an additional $15 on top of that). When I arrived an hour later, I walked through the front door and waited a couple minutes while the server at the counter took care of another guest. After he was finished with them, I gave him the name for the order, he checked on it, and came back and told me it wasn't ready yet. I looked around while I was waiting and the place was completely empty (it was Saturday night). There were only 4 people working from what I could see (2 in the kitchen, 1 server up front, and 1 bartender/server). 5 minutes later the pizzas were finally ready. Then he told me to go out the back. Never mind that I parked in front and walked in through fhe front door. When I got home, the pizzas were just..fine. The flavor of the sauce and toppings were alright, but the crust was just dry and chewy (my jaw started to hurt after a few slices). I don't foresee a return trip to this place.

King Dough Carmel location is off Old Meridian Street. We went here on a Sunday night. Ordered a cheese pizza with some toppings and vegan Hive pizza, I think. The service was good, but it wasn't terribly busy to begin with. The decor is motivated by playing cards, which I rather liked. The pizza was well cooked, and there was nice char. The califlower wings were really good. Overall 8.5/10. It's plant-based friendly.

The service was very slow. We went on our lunch break and was late getting back to work. Very large portions for the food also flavorful. I liked the fact they had cauliflower. It seems like a dope spot. I didn't care for the sauce, it wasn't sweet at all to me. Just a nutty flavor. The fries were delicious and the ranch tasted like it was homemade.

Love love love! Best original style pizza I've had recently! I try to steer away from your typical pizza places. Tried a few other recently and wasn't quite satisfied. This hit the spot! My favorite was the Margherita Pizza! What I like most is the light amount of topics. We don't each a lot of cheese so for us it was perfect. Can't wait to order again!

So, this is now one of my new pizza joints. That's rare for me to say that after only one visit. Food: Their pizza is oven-baked, and although it's not wood-fired, it comes out with much of the same char and blistering that a wood oven tends to produce. We had the Big Boy 14" pizza, and it was outstanding. Service: Service was great. We came on a Sunday afternoon at 4pm, so it wasn't busy during our visit, which means we got lots of attention from the wait staff. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Apparently it does get quite busy here at times. Ambiance: King Dough is located in the same storefront as one of my past favorite (now defunct) pizza restaurants. Back then, it was called Crust. I've always liked this corner space on Old Meridian. The decor is eclectic and has a quirky vibe - as does the wait staff. And, it works. the vibe of this place felt authentic and genuine, and just different enough to make everything stand out. We'll definitely be back here. But, be warned: This pizza is crave-worthy.

King Dough was always a 5+ star place every day of the week. Service has always been great. Super cool on the inside both locations. BUT, they switched their gluten free crust. 180 degree turn from the best gluten free crust (indistinguishable from a regular crust) to a generic thin crust that is depressing when compared to its former glory. Edit: Thank you for responding! I've been to the Carmel location 3x and every time have gotten the same flat crust, compared to this picture of KD gf crust in 2019.

This was our first visit to this location. We ordered the 14 inch big boy pizza and eight piece hot honey sesame wings. We've had that pizza previously at Theo downtown location and it was very good - just spicy enough with peppadew pepper, pepperoni, sausage and onion. The crust is delicious and chewy! The wings were the nice surprise. We will definitely get those again! It came with a side of ranch or bleu cheese and they didn't need any extra sauce.

King Dough!! My Bloomington favorite and I am SO glad it opened in Carmel since it didn't make it btown. We came on a nice day and they had the garage door open and it's so comfy, cozy, and almost retro in there. The bar is a nice spot to come have casual drinks and the service was quick. We had the pepper and sausage pizza and the buffalo wings. The 14 inch pizza was plenty for two and perfect - so so good. The crust bubbles and is doughy. The wings were crispy and spicy and also perfect. Love King Dough - so happy they're in Carmel!!

$5 for 1/8 cup of ranch is a bit much, but the pizza is delicious!

Is king dough Carmel still open? Tried to go there yesterday at 12:45 weird lock on the back door and front door locked.

Yes we are! We had equipment issues yesterday and had to close for lunch unexpectedly but we were reopened for dinner and back to normal schedule now. Sorry for the inconvenience

You order at the front counter then they bring it to our table. The menu can be a little daunting if you aren't sure what you want. I chose a chicken enchilada bowl, but was then told they were out of cheese. Nothing else was jumping out at me, so I just ordered the avocado toast. (see pics) Our food came fairly quickly. I will say, my coworkers' dishes looked good. I was pretty disappointed with my avocado toast. For $9, it was a sinlgle slice of bread, only very lightly toasted. The jammy egg was maybe 1 hard boiled egg, chopped up on top, and it was cold. It did have shredded cheese over it (not sure why that couldn't have been used in my enchilada bowl?) . It also tased like it had a lot of "everything bagel" spices on it, and was overall fairly salty. So it was a little disappoining. And I left hungry. But I wasn't in the mood to order anything else. My coworkers had sweet potato fries (I tried some - really good!), and different bowls that looked good, so I would give them another try sometime, but the avocado toast did not live up to expectations. #ReviewsByRL

When we arrived, the place was empty. We weren't even sure that they were open until we saw the kitchen staff behind the line. Upon entering, I saw a kiosk where you can place your order, but a woman emerged from the back to take our orders. Being that we weren't familiar with the menu, I told her that the kiosk might be easier. She insisted that it wasn't, and as I went on, I realized the same. The kiosk states that there is a $1.25 charge for the sauce on the side, but she explained that it comes with one sauce free of charge and additional sauces cost extra. We placed our order with her: A small Italian salad to share, the Fatty B calzone with the spicy marinara sauce and the Hot Mother Clucker calzone with the chipotle garlic ranch. We ordered them with the suggested sauces but also order the regular marinara and the garlic sauces on the side. We were given glasses for water (self-serve from the soda fountain) and also ordered a bottled beer and canned cider. By the time we were done ordering, a line had formed. The store was understaffed, which was explained to us later, so we had to exercise patience. We didn't receive our beverages until after the calzones were delivered. Before that, we received our rather large, small salad. It was more than enough for two people. The woman had explained to us that it comes with 4 cups of lettuce plus the toppings. That information helped us make our decision to share. The space is large and we noticed cornhole boards to be used on the patio. Unfortunately, it was raining when we went, otherwise we would have played. The calzones were good and filling. Neither of us finished ours and had food to enjoy at home later that evening. The Hot Mother Clucker isn't very pizza-esque, but dipping it into marinara sort of brought it back into the fold. The suggested chipotle garlic ranch was a better pairing indeed. The salad bowl/plate is oddly shaped, which caused toppings to being spilling off the sides. When it was brought to our table, the woman tried saving the toppings by wedging them between the order slip and her fingers and dumping them back onto our plate. I stopped her. I wasn't trying to be rude, but I don't want to eat food that a stranger's hands have touched. I explained this to her. She tried to assure us that she washes her hands constantly throughout the day, but she'd just come over from the register without a handwashing break. Just let the toppings fall where they may! Let's keep it hygienic.

And the fried naan chips were sliced long and thin, and could've been called naan fries actually. Perfect companion for the dip. - Fried catfish sammich: the piece of fish was huge and the batter was good. It came on Texas toast with fixins and tartar sauce. Won't lie, the only thing I wanted for was some hot sauce. That's a me problem... just gotta have hot sauce when I eat fried fish but I didn't ask for any while I was there (they may offer it) and still very much enjoyed the sandwich. - Filet: it was great... hubby got it medium and it arrived perfectly cooked. The Demi glaze sauce was so good and so were the sides. Their collard greens are seasoned up! I said does my auntie work here?! This cuisine is so comfortingly southern and didn't disappoint. Shoutout to our friendly and helpful server, Dan... our food and drinks came out quickly and so did our to-go box. His service was truly top notch. We have been living in Carmel for 5 years and this is one of the best restaurants here. If you're on the fence about trying this place, jump off and make a reservation. You won't regret it.

Our server was attentive and friendly. We ordered the pimento dip and crab cake to start. The dip was not quite as good as we expected based on prior reviews. It was good not great. We enjoyed the crab cakes more which were full of crab. The entrees were the stars though - I had the peach glazed salmon which was cooked perfectly and the glaze was super flavorful. The collard greens were tender and had a tasty smoke flavor. A couple folks had short rib entrees and one had one of the shrimp and grits options. The servings were very hearty especially for the prices. All in our party agreed they would definitely return and happily order the same dish although there are many items on the menu we all want to try. We had seats inside and it was fresh and clean and not too loud despite being busy. Great place!

It feels a bit early to be back with an update, but I must report that the grape salad and potato…read moresoup, both left out of my previous review, were both hits. I got to share the grape salad with my husband in the car during a road trip, and he really enjoyed it as well. I was craving something good today, and while I was tempted to place the same order, minus the broccoli salad, I decided to be adventurous and try out some new flavors. After doing some research, I landed on the Jalapeno Holly and Buffalo Barclay. I ordered the Sandwich Meal with two sides. I got the Buffalo Barclay on the croissant with lettuce and bacon. My two sides were a scoop of Jalapeno Holly chicken salad and a cup of Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup. I picked up my order in-store and the dining area is just darling! I never use that word as a descriptor, but it just feels fitting. The store was busy. There were tons of folks coming in and out, picking up to-go orders and several people were seated at the inviting tables and booths in the large, but warm dining area. My meal came with several packs of crackers to accompany my scoop of chicken salad, a pickle (I don't remember receiving one with my previous order), and the individually wrapped cookie. The soup was warm and delicious. It needed a bit of salt and pepper, but it was very creamy and filling. I ate it first. Then, I dove into the Jalapeno Holly with the crackers. Sooo good! At this point, I doubt that I'll find a variety of their chicken salad that I don't like. I'm a fan. The food is delicious and light, but filling. I feel healthy eating it. I don't know that it is, but we'll go with it's healthy! Btw, the cookie is the perfect little sweet treat at the end...beginning or middle of your meal!

I really like the chicken salad at Chicken Salad Chick. I always thought my homemade chicken salad…read morewas salad was the best, but I find I like theirs better. The chicken is tender and moist and the seasonings are subtle. This was my first visit to this location near Meijer in Carmel. They were offering a Valentine's Day special of two meals for $14, which is a great deal. I had a scoop of Carole's Salad and a bowl of loaded potato soup. The salad was delicious but the soup could have been a little hotter. The soup tasted made from scratch and was good. My husband had a Carole's on a Croissant with a Broccoli Salad side. The sandwich was huge and tasty. The Broccoli salad was fresh with crispy bacon. He lived his lunch. The dining room is cute and clean with lots of seating. They have outdoor seating as well. The staff is friendly and efficient. The restrooms are clean. Parking is close in the little strip mall. I'll be back.

Mostly because we brought our dog--but hey at least we had the entire outside section to ourselves! The five stars are for the yummy food, consistently delicious ciders and the outstanding service! Zoe was patient and accommodating with my requests for samples of all the new ciders or ones I hadn't yet tried yet: Horchata, Pomegranate Soda, Passionfruit Coconut and Patio Rush. She even brought out a mix of Milk Bones for our fur baby so he could perform his best tricks. In all seriousness, the cider braised chicken I added to the Orchard Salad was so tender, juicy and bursting with flavor. My husband said the hot sauce he asked for in the side MAKES the Fried Chicken sandwich. We both enjoyed the tomato basil soup especially because it has a good amount of gooey cheese and lots of flavors & seasoning. I am always a fan of Ash & Elm Cider and was happy to have the Crisp Peach today for a change! I regret not trying the Imperial Bourbon Cider but I guess I was going for more of a floral, fruity and citrusy palate. Next time, I DO want to sample the Imperial Bourbon Cider with added brown sugar, fermented and aged in West Fork Whiskey oak barrels. It's apparently Boozy, vanilla and with bourbon notes! ABV for 13% and possibly upgrade with a splash of bitters. Sounds intriguing. Update: the table did not seem so wobbly today. Thanks for listening to that feedback!!
