We kept hearing good things about this place. So, we decided to try it and we were glad we did. We ordered the Big Boy pizza. It comes with red sauce, aged mozzarella, pepperoni, Italian sausage, Peppadew peppers, and red onion. Very, very tasty and the pizza dough was excellent. It reminded me of the pizza I used to have back in New York. The prices were reasonable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very clean and there's lots of parking. You have to try this place if you are a pizza lover. You can't go wrong. One thing I noticed that's a little frustrating is you cannot access the restaurants menu in the YELP app. I hope someone can resolve this issue. read more

Also, ordered a large The Butcher pizza. Again, it was marvelous! Excellent taste and loaded with pepperoni and sausage. Cooked just right. Buttery crust too! Where King Dough failed was on the Circuses as Channel 7 food critic James Ward used to call it. There's Breads and Circuses. Breads is the quality of the food. Tastiness, balance, quality and quantity. Circuses is the presentation, service and restaurant ambiance. Server failed to bring utensils, napkins and condiments with the food. We had to go to the front desk to get them. No bid deal, minor complaint. The server also did not cut and serve the first slice to me and my date. Further,the slices were not cut through so we had difficulty transferring the slices off the serving platter onto our plates. Lucky we didn't end up with a slice in our laps. No spatula provided. Had to ask for pepper, grated cheese and hot pepper. We dined outside. Should have been indoors. South facing patio was full sun for most of the meal. And there was an old chicken bone under our table. I wasn't expecting a Michelin experience but come on! Clean up the patio. The server apologized up front for the pitcher of water having tea stains on it. Maybe buy some new pitchers and use them exclusively for water? Makes me wonder if this restaurant is circling the drain if they can't afford net water pitchers. At least King Dough does not tack on a 3% charge for paying with a credit card which has become an annoyingly common standard practice in many restaurants. read more

Ordered pepperoni pizza and wings. Pizza was average but WAY overpriced. I recommend going to Whole Foods and getting a fresh oven baked pizza in a similar style for half the price. This was our first time trying King Dough Pizza. We opted to sit outside as it was a nice fall day. They do have umbrellas on the tables. We ordered a side of fries with ranch and blue cheese dressing. This is on their appetizer list. It is definitely enough fries for 4 to 6 people. We ordered a medium pepperoni pizza. The sauce was some of the best I've ever had. It had a very, very slight kick to it just enough to make it different. We also enjoyed. They used many pepperonis. The pizza was really good! King Dough is relatively new to Carmel, serving Korean style chicken and beer. We were welcomed when we entered and invited to sit anywhere. We shared a Half Original Fried Chicken. I was not in the mood for spicy heat or sweet sauces, so we went with the basic fried chicken, which was well seasoned. The chicken was cut into small pieces and a half of chicken was plenty for two people. The meat was juicy and the breading was really good. I'd put the chicken up among the top fried chickens that I've had locally. The pickled radish on the side is a nice touch. The fries are good, too and not overly salty. They tasted hand cut and fresh. They were nice and hot! Isabella, our server, was friendly and efficient. She kept our waters full. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was piping hot. We didn't have beer because it was early in the day, but they have a decent selection of beer that is reasonably priced. The dining room has a sports bar feel with several tv monitors playing sports. Booths and tables are comfortable. The place is clean. We snagged street parking. TL;DR: Firecracker dry rub wings were amazing, get them if you like a numbing spice. Pizza had a good flavor but a bad bake. Price is definitely on the high side for what you get. Food: The firecracker dry rub wings may be my favorite dry rub wings I've ever had. Nice spice level with a good numbing kind of spice. I would come back just for these wings. The pizza is a more complicated topic. I had the destroyer. Good flavors, ratio of sauce to cheese and toppings was good, but it was a combination of slightly burnt crust (yes burn not just a nice char, especially around the outside edge) that was also soggy in the middle. This was honestly a pretty big let down as I'm still searching for a go to pizza place, but the bake really left a lot to be desired. Price: For two people we got 1 order of firecracker wings (8) and 2 14-in pizzas which came out to about $70 which is for sure on the high side given the amount of food. 4 wings and half a pizza would feed an adult who was an average level of hungry. Without the wings I would have easily crushed the 14-in pizza in one sitting. Service: Service was fine, didn't get a water refill until after our meal was done but I didn't try to flag anyone down for it either. Ambiance: Clean restaurant, not the most comfortable chairs, and kind of a strange mix of classic pizza place and slightly upscale finishes. The music wasn't overly loud and the lighting created a darker atmosphere. Overall: I would come back for the firecracker wings without a second thought. We have been to king dough a few times. The pizza is amazing. It's super hot and fresh and whatever the crust is light and has such great flavor. We love the "Shop" salad. My kids love their cheese sauce to dip their pizza in and the ranch is great. It is a little pricey as other have mentioned but the food quality is very good. Mostly the service is good and staff is very friendly. I do feel like they probably don't have as much staff as they should have so servers get busy going between tables outside, inside, and at the bar so there's times you need something and no one is around. I still give it 5 stars though just because it really is excellent food, way better than several other pizza places around. read more

I decided to try a new place for pizza, and found this in Carmel. I really want to like the place but I'm left with a feeling that it's just so-so. It took me about 25 minutes to be seated, which is OK because they were busy. It took another 10 minutes for someone to come to my table to get my drink order. Several minutes later, the waiter returned to take the rest of my order. It took 32 minutes for my 14 inch thin crust pizza to come out of the oven. When my waiter dropped off the pizza, he asked if I wanted crushed red peppers or Parmesan cheese, and I asked for both. He never returned with either one of them. In fact, he didn't return until it was time to bring my bill. The employees seem to be trying too hard to give this place a stoner/Broad Ripple vibe. They wear knit caps with their T-shirts, sweaters off the shoulder, sunglasses indoors at night... They're just trying too hard to look cool. They should probably focus on their customer service a little bit more. The pizza itself was good, but could have been much better if they used a perforated pizza pan. They use a cheap old flat pizza pan, which holds all of the grease underneath the crust. It winds up soaking your pizza. If they used a perforated pan, that grease would be away from your crust, and it would be much more crisp. It was our first time at the Carmel King Dough location and we will definitely return! We've frequently visited the downtown location, but knew we'd be in Carmel on Tuesday evening to take advantage of their 2 for Tuesday special. This included a large salad and 14" speciality pizza for $35. Everything was delicious as always and our service was exceptional (thanks, Nadia!). The inside was clean and spacious. It's always interesting when restaurants have direct kitchen views. Easy to find parking and lots of other bars/restaurants nearby if you wanted to hop around. We didn't drink this evening, but loved their selection of Pax Verum beers. We will definitely return on a Friday for their happy hour! read more

We ordered carryout online from this place. That's where things started going downhill. First of all, you can't order off the full menu online. There are several appetizers which are not available (we wanted cauliflower wings) for carryout. When we completed our order, it gave us an estimated pickup time of 1 hour later. These aren't deep dish pizzas. They're hand-tossed thin crust pies that only take 20 minutes to bake. We ordered 2 14" pizzas and they were pretty expensive ($20-25 each). And then there's the mandatory 15% service charge. For that, we should have just eaten there (never mind they have this weird item online where you can just give them an additional $15 on top of that). When I arrived an hour later, I walked through the front door and waited a couple minutes while the server at the counter took care of another guest. After he was finished with them, I gave him the name for the order, he checked on it, and came back and told me it wasn't ready yet. I looked around while I was waiting and the place was completely empty (it was Saturday night). There were only 4 people working from what I could see (2 in the kitchen, 1 server up front, and 1 bartender/server). 5 minutes later the pizzas were finally ready. Then he told me to go out the back. Never mind that I parked in front and walked in through fhe front door. When I got home, the pizzas were just..fine. The flavor of the sauce and toppings were alright, but the crust was just dry and chewy (my jaw started to hurt after a few slices). I don't foresee a return trip to this place. read more

So, this is now one of my new pizza joints. That's rare for me to say that after only one visit. Food: Their pizza is oven-baked, and although it's not wood-fired, it comes out with much of the same char and blistering that a wood oven tends to produce. We had the Big Boy 14" pizza, and it was outstanding. Service: Service was great. We came on a Sunday afternoon at 4pm, so it wasn't busy during our visit, which means we got lots of attention from the wait staff. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Apparently it does get quite busy here at times. Ambiance: King Dough is located in the same storefront as one of my past favorite (now defunct) pizza restaurants. Back then, it was called Crust. We've had that pizza previously at Theo downtown location and it was very good - just spicy enough with peppadew pepper, pepperoni, sausage and onion. The crust is delicious and chewy! BUT, they switched their gluten free crust. 180 degree turn from the best gluten free crust (indistinguishable from a regular crust) to a generic thin crust that is depressing when compared to its former glory. We came on a nice day and they had the garage door open and it's so comfy, cozy, and almost retro in there. The bar is a nice spot to come have casual drinks and the service was quick. We had the pepper and sausage pizza and the buffalo wings. The 14 inch pizza was plenty for two and perfect - so so good. The crust bubbles and is doughy. This is the most-loved new restaurant my family has discovered in awhile! I had raved to them about King Dough before, so when a location opened up closer to my parents, we ordered it for the family. The reviews had shared that they have the best GF dough around, so I opted for that. Some of the reviews also mentioned that it was hard to order / get through to them on the phone, but we got right through when we called, so they must have improved that quite quickly. Here's what we especially loved: + Website: it shows helpful pictures of each item + Team: they were soooo friendly in person + GF dough: tastes as amazing as regular dough + Ingredients: all the veggies were so fresh looking + Vegan: there is a vegan cheese and pepperoni option + Logo: the boxes all have cool graphics on them I personally did a build-your-own pizza with the GF dough, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and red onion. I didn't do any cheese since it sometimes hurts my stomach, and usually feel like I'm missing out at pizza spots when I go DF/GF and see everyone else's beautiful pizzas in comparison to my sad pizza. This was not the case here. My pizza had fluffy dough, beautiful toppings, and was INCREDIBLE. Like I almost didn't even realize there wasn't cheese on it and it did not taste like GF dough. You should seriously take any friends with dietary concerns here because they will love it too. My family all got more traditional pizzas - a margherita, a cheese, and a build-your-own. Everyone absolutely loved their pizzas and we each ate an 18" on our own (almost). The salads here are great too and you have to try the grape and gorgonzola pizza at least once in your life. They're known for it. We got takeout this time but hope to come back in person soon and sit outside on that nice side patio too. There's free parking out front and behind, so it couldn't be easier. I was a little hesitant because the food at the downtown location is so good and a lot of times when restaurants grow they can't really duplicate that. Five stars for the music that was playing as I was enjoying my pizza. It was like I was transported back to middle school and high school in the mid- to late-90s: Beck, Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana, Weezer, The Smashing Pumpkins. Whoever picks the music at King Dough: You made this young Gen-Xer/old Millennial's day. We got an 18-inch pepperoni pizza for the table. It's eight big slices and it's huge. We all loved it so much that we devoured it, and I kind of wish we had ordered another smaller pizza, or something else on the menu. My 3rd grader said that this pizza was his third favorite pizza he's ever had in his life. (He didn't mention what the other two were, but OK.) I saw some people at another table eating fries, and I kind of wish I had thought to order fries. Maybe next time. After tip, our bill was almost $40, which was kind of surprising considering the only thing we ordered was one 18-inch pepperoni pizza. No appetizers or drinks or anything. The employees were super friendly and the food came out pretty fast. The Destroyer pizza was good, although there were a few too many pools of honey in some places. Pizza includes: red sauce, aged mozzarella, rosemary, basil, garlic, goat cheese, hot honey. They didn't have Impossible sausage so we went with the Be-hive pepperoni. The Greco salad was Great. The dressing was balanced, not too tart, and for a small it was a nice size to share. Salad includes: Romaine, mixed green, tomato, cucumber, bell pepper, Kalamata olive, red onion, feta, lemon basil vinaigrette. Finally made it to to the King Dough in Carmel. I am as a big fan of the one downtown so I was ecstatic that they were opening up here. Let me say- the quality of the pizza is spot on. Three of us shared a large Destroyer and it was the perfect size for us. The honey on this pizza and the wood fired dough really make it. Service was good although I do wish service people would give you a chance to actually open the QR code and see the Drink and pizza menu. None of us could access the menu so the waitress finally gave us the password to their website. Maybe have a guest access or put the code on the table? The crust on the one I got today is so soggy and floppy that eating the pizza with a fork was the only option. Each piece is so soggy it's falling apart. We've been here at least 5 times, but it feels like it just keeps getting worse. 3.5 Pizzas, salads, appetizers- wine and beer. Came here on a Friday evening and had to put our name on waitlist (not a problem at all). We went to a bar close by to grab a drink while we waited. 40 minutes into our 20-30 minute wait, we decided to check back in and we're kind of surprised to see many tables filled with people who had put their names in after us. Still no issue, we asked if the bar was available and they said yes. The bartender/server was so kind and charismatic and perfectly timed all of her interactions. Food was good, gluten free crust is hard to get cooked right so I wasn't exactly surprised when part of it was pretty crisp and part was not. Overall I was really happy with our meal. Toppings were awesome and the salads were also great!! Definitely big enough to share. We enjoyed our meals and had tons of leftovers which is a rare occurrence for us. Really good visit for our first trip to King Dough. We ate at the Carmel location and had such friendly staff, a chill/fun vibe in the dark and relaxing restaurant, lots of fun things to look at, good music playing and just a great atmosphere! Plus we had really delicious pizza!! The dough had so much flavor and was perfect, the sauce was great and this place lived up to all the great reviews we have had from friends!! And the nicely darkened big bubbles in the crust were just like I like!! Our server Vivien was great and attentive and we enjoyed our visit! The bar area is so quaint and inviting and there is a semi private room in the back for larger parties as well as a great patio area we will visit in the summer! We will definitely be back! They have an enormous "large" pizza with the good little meaty pepperonis and tons of other restaurant creations with the option to create your own pizza as well. I ordered takeout, and my pizza was ready when I got there--( I live 10 minutes away), but I had to wait a bit for the wings. Service was amazing, the host was friendly and attentive, checking frequently for my wings until they were done. The inside of the restaurant is gorgeous, a lot different than their flagship location, but honestly just as enjoyable and trendy & plenty of comfy seating options. This is one of my favorite pizza choices and I recommend. Dough made from scratch and tossed-- not flat crust or pan made-- and delicious salads. If you're thinking about it, yes yes! Go for it.
