Where the 50- and 60- and 70-year-old classy day-drinkers at? You'll probably find a lot of them at Pizzology, bellied up to the bar. This is a hot spot for a certain kind of Carmel crowd who wants to have a lil' cheeky drink on a day that ends in Y (or two drinks ... or three. They don't judge at Pizzology.) Or so I'm told. I got boots on the ground reporting for me. But it's also a restaurant for families. And a restaurant for casual dates. And a restaurant if you just want great food. Pizzology gets wood-fired pizza right. The crust is chewy yet slightly charred and crispy in all the right places. The pizza flavor offerings are simple but also creative. They have a dozen or so chef-crafted pizzas, so you can order a pizza that has been thoughtfully created. But if you want to go rogue, then you can also create your own pizza from ingredients like peppadew peppers, corn puree (what?), smoked mozzarella, asparagus and lots more. Large pizzas feed two, maybe three people. Small pizzas will feed one person. I was with a group of people, and we ordered a variety of things. The best thing that I tasted was The Varro, which is a pizza with red sauce, pork meatballs, fresh garlic, blobs of ricotta, parmesan cheese and parsley. This is one amazing pizza! I specifically ordered this pizza for the ricotta blobs, but I left with the memory of the garlic. Woah! If you like garlic or need to ward off vampires, this is the pizza for you. Other things we got included the Margherita pizza, which was so good and simple, with lots of fresh basil. And The Bama (white Alabama barbecue sauce, chili flakes, grilled chicken, banana peppers, caramelized onions and mozzarella). The Bama is spicer than you might think, but it was very tasty. Other people at the table got salads and bread sticks, and they were very happy with them, so I feel like you can't go wrong with pretty much anything on the menu here. The wine list is decent here! You'll find some nice wines at OK prices. They also have a wide variety of cocktails, plus a small beer menu. Hours are limited, as Pizzology is only open for dinner, starting at 4 p.m. If you're visiting on a Friday or weekend, I'd call to make a reservation. This place fills up quickly! read more

I have been wanting to go to pizzalogy for two years. I ordered take out today.. We ordered two personal pizzas one large pizza, dry rubbed wings, and breadsticks. I was there 5 men before they said it would be done and had to ask twice for them to bring it out 15 minutes later. It was just meh.. Underwhelming and disappointing. It may be better if it was hot but it's not worth it with cold wings and breadsticks and Luke warm pizza at their prices. read more

I have been coming to Pizzology every Friday night my whole life! (13 years lol) ITS AMAZING!! Sure, there is a long wait time, but the delicious food and amazing service makes up for it!! Love the Alfredo. Warm ricotta and breadsticks are a must for appetizers. Chopped salad is amazing, all pizza is delicious. Great alcohol drinks too (coming from my parents) GIVE IT A TRY!! There is a long wait, but it's TOTALLY WORTH IT!! (also bonus the ambiance is amazing because you can watch the workers cook your pizza and put it into the oven) Love the inside of the restaurant, and the outdoor is great for sitting. I am sooooo happy Pizzology has reopened! We did try to pop in for lunch and unfortunately, they do not open until 4! Dinner service only now. But our server mentioned they're in the works for lunch service... New menu w tbe same classics! Taking the mother in law out to eat tonight some place new. It was a bit chilly inside but other than that the interior was nice. Got a bit crowded when they got busy. We started with an order of breadsticks with dipping sauce. Bread was very good and the tomato sauce was my favorite. I didn't think the cheese dip had much flavor. I got a chopped salad without olives. It was also good and a small would serve at least two people maybe three. For entrees we got spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parm with angel hair and Ndjua Alfredo. Mother in law really like the meatballs and said they tasted like a mix of sausage and ground beef. The sauce on the spaghetti was the same as the dipping sauce for the bread. Husband got Chicken Parm with angel hair. The chicken was good and had a nice crust and lots of cheese. The angel hair had a chunky spicy tomato sauce that was too spicy. Would be better with just the basic sauce. I got the Ndjua Alfredo and it was super. I'm a fan of Ndjua sausage anyway. We got Alamond Gelato and Chocolate for dessert. I love the Almond the chocolate was ok too. I think we may come back. I enjoyed pretty much everything. We are so happy Pizzology has re-opened! It has been a long wait, but so worth it for our pizza and warm ricotta dip. In the year that they have been closed, we have transitioned to gluten-free, so we did try out their gluten-free crust. Would not recommend. However, for our non-gluten free family members, Pizzology is and always will be a favorite. It is the best wood-fired pizza in town and the warm, salty ricotta dip is so unique. Recently, my friend and I ate dinner at Pizzology in Carmel, Indiana. Our server was friendly and so accommodating when I explained I had a gluten intolerance. However, our wait time while we observed so many people who had been seated after us had their food an drink. When our arrived my friend who did not order gluten free pizza received a gluten free pizza that appeared to look no better than a grocery store Red Barron Pizza. My friend had to wait a very long time for his drink and the salad never arrived. My friend stated the pizza was bland and tasteless. My pasta dish arrived with wheat spaghetti , definitely not gluten free. I had been assured the restaurant serves gluten free pasta and pizza. Our server kindly requested his manager to come speak with us to ensure my food was safe. My friend was almost finished with their food and had to wait a very long time for the second drink. The wait time for my food considering my friend was finished with their meal and drinks was long. We had been offered no discount or even a free drink which was a bit unusual. Our server checked in with us and apologized. I spoke up and asked if there might be a discount considering my friend was finished eating a large pizza and two beers.The server stated he would ask the manager, and he totally understood. When my food arrived the server said he could not offer us a discount. We received our bill $70 which my friend had me double check for accuracy. I reviewed our as accurate . I noted Coors Lite at $14 which non - premium beer seemed a lot let alone the charges for the food versus quality. No one in Carmel has an issue paying $70 for a weekend meal, if the quality, service and atmosphere warrants. As we left the restaurant, the manager had his head down at the front of the restaurant and avoided us entirely where a simple apology and coke back and see us would have been more respectful. Pizzology will never be a place I will recommend after that fiasco. read more

A few years later and I still give this place 5 stars! We got carry out of Margarita and a sausage and pepperoni pizza - they were delicious!! The hosts were helpful and friendly. It took a little longer than the expected time for our carry out to be ready, but it was work the wait. Both pizzas had fantastic flavor and the crusts were fluffy and fresh. I have had these before and while the mussels are excellent, the broth is even better. When I was done with the mussels I finished the broth with a spoon. We we're visiting our daughter and had just flown in that day. We were starving after missing dinner and we're in the mood for pizza. This was the only place near her home and despite some of the bad ratings I figured how bad could it be? It's Pizza! Well, unfortunately, this place lived up to the poor reviews. Terrible service from extremely inexperienced staff. The pizza was horrible and I could've done better out of my own freezer. I ordered half sausage and it was absolutely a mystery meat and tasted nothing like sausage. I read that this place was good before the fire and maybe that's true but we will never go back when visiting my daughter again. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt with this being their second weekend back, but they definitely need to work on the hostess stand and making sure they get people seated when tables become available. Place was packed when we arrived but there were several open tables and no one being seated. Service overall slow tonight, but to reiterate, the place was swamped. Food was amazing though and worth the wait. White Devil pizza and the Pepperoni and Pistachio pizza are what we ordered. Also went with the warm ricotta dip and bread which is always incredible. Fantastic food and service! I'll start with pizza, boy was it ever good! We had the house, cheese pizza and added sautéed mushrooms and sausage. It was so full of flavor and the crust was crispy, perfectly crunchy, with the grilled flavor we love! The service was wonderful, friendly and our server was proud to work there! I feel like this place is a hidden gem. My neighbor told me about it and I finally got a chance to check it out. We went on a Friday night and it seemed busy but there was only a 10 min wait for 2. The dining room is fairly small and the tables are close together. We started with the Chopped Salad and then decided to each get our own pizzas because they aren't that big. They are wood fired and come out crispy as you can see from the pics. I went with the Lombardy which had arugula and prosciutto with a white sauce base. It was different but so good! My husband got the beekeeper with jalapeños and honey. It was sweet and spicy. My husband liked his better and I liked mine better, probably better off that way! So the reviews are correct. Their breadsticks are good. There is a slight chew of the dough, yet its light. It has a garlic butter taste and is sprinkled with parmesan cheese. Their lemon vinaigrette salad was very sour, and missing a balanced flavor. I ordered a Bianca pizza with mushrooms and black olives. The cheese was bland. What a cute little place in Carmel! They have an enclosed outdoor patio for extra seating. We started out with two appetizers: The Italian Mussels & The Wood Roasted Wings. The Italian Mussels are to die for! The key is the broth that they make for it. It is so flavorful that I could drink it as a soup. The mussels also come with two breadsticks. The Wood Roasted Wings were also a big hit. I just wish they would've been a bit bigger in size. However, the taste did not disappoint. The crust was perfectly baked in their wood fire oven. However, the taste of the pizzas were just OK. I was expecting more flavor or uniques tastes that I did not receive. Pizzology has always been highly recommended by anyone who's been and now we see why! We came for dinner on a Saturday night and the place was busy. We didn't have to wait but got seated on the patio. Usually you think patio, in the middle of winter? But their patio is nicely heated and gives off a moody date night vibe. Once seated, we ordered 2 local crafts beers out of the 6 options they had on tap. We came for the pizza and wanted to try different options. We asked if you could split 1 large pizza but make it half and half with the specialities. They said due to different weights, they don't allow for that. So we opted for two individual pizzas; the Cicero and Bama. The crust itself is different than other wood fire pizzas. It's thin but has a denser consistency than most. We had a great time overall. Parking gets busy on the evening and waiting time is between 45-80 mins on a very busy Friday. We ordered artichoke dips starter, pistachio & pepperoni pizza. Everthing went well. Our waitress was very friendly. They have a cute covered patio, and big indoor area with Vespa pictures on the wall. I think its one of the best pizza.
