Food was okay. Ive had better chinese buffets. My biggest gripe is with customer service. I entered at 3pm which is still lunch. They charged me and my wife $9.99x2 for lunch. Before we finished eating they gave me the bill stating so. At about 4pm dinner starts. My wife took 4 shrimps. The owner came by and told the waiter to change my bill to $11.99 because my wife ate shrimp. Difference of $2, which is nothing, but its the way they did it. The waiter was nice and only changed only one since my wife ate shrimp and i didnt. Will not go back again. Made me feel like i was trying to short change them. Lol. read more

Heard great things from my girlfriend when she went with her family years ago. Gave it a try and service was excellent, and thats all the positives I have to say. Crab Rangoon was cold (like fresh from the freezer cold) in the inside but slightly burnt on the outside. Orange chicken looked incredibly delicious and juicy but was incredibly dry. Here's what I wrote on the dinner check this evening. "No to-go cup, no tip." Harsh perhaps, but this is a new policy and it sucks!! After ponying up $9 for a buffet that I ate a small portion of only, I was ticked off that my dining companion was not allowed to take the remainder of their ice tea with us in a to-go cup unless we paid extra! That's BS, so next time I'm bringing my own plastic to-go cup. This aside, the garlic green beans, beef-brocoli, general's chicken, and sesame balls were the bomb!! It's these dishes that keep me coming back. But ripped chair seats and uncomfortable, cheapo tables that lack a table cloth at dinner, make the place feel low-rent. My homie and I woke up starvin like Marvin and wanted something to carry us through we ate later on after partying. He had mentioned Chinese and good thing I Yelp and Bookmark places even if I'm not close to them....cleaver me right! A yelp friend had visited this place before and reviwed it, so my mind was made up, if its recommended by a friend then it must be pretty good. So I showed my friend the page here on Yelp and some pics and he was just as sold as I was. We got dressed and set off....now time to fast forward a bit.. My homie and I arrived about an hour or so later. We were delighted just at the sheer size of the building, we knew that we were in for a treat upon walking in. It was a packed house, but to be honest....what buffets usually aren't around 11 a.m.- 3p.m. on a warm Saturday morning? Unless they're gross. Anyway we waited like about 2 minutes or so because a large group was about to be seated. When we finally got seated we were left scratching our heads, the waitress walked off when I was about to order our beverages. Ok cool, that's fine, we came to eat and boy when I say suitable for a "King" this place nailed it spot on! I've beem to some AYCE Chinese Buffets before but the offerings always seemed....similar. Not to say thoae establishments weren't good, but the variety of food wasn't there. But that wasnt the case here. The way they organized this buffet and had it set up and layed out was cleaver and nice. All the menu items were placed with the type of food group it belonged too.....score! I've never experienced that before at a buffet. The food here was moving as well, with the hotplates being changed out regularly because of the moving demand, you knew that the food was fresh here. They even had a Mongolian BBQ area which I love, and get excited to see at Chinese AYCE buffets. Because who really like going to the mall paying 12 dollers or more for a small plate of noodles....not me. So I rather have it included in the ($8.99) price tag and get more. I'm a seafood guy and if you like seafood this place has no shortage of it, heck in fact you can see the fish tank when you walk in. Although those fish were for decoration, to me it was advertising. Here the american options were slim and to be honest I liked that, nothing more that I can't stand to see when goong to a chinese buffet and seeing fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy..like really! The food here was great, very hot and fresh and it totally hit the spot. It filled the void we both needed at that moment. King Buffet isn't walking distance if you're staying downtown Reno, so you gotta hop in your ride or take a Uber or Lyft or something to get here, because this place is like one street away from the Atlantis Casino Resort. Which if you know Reno is on the otherside of town. It sits on it's own in a little strip mall of sorts. Grocery Outlet and Doller Tree are notible stores here. In my closing, the price here was pretty good, the food even better, but one star had to be taken away because the communication barrier and not getting my drinks till like my second plate of food. But..that isn't taking away from my experience here. This is the perfect buffet in so many ways and would make you happy that you ventured off the normal route or...Yelp in that matter. Because this place filled every expectation and more. So if you're in the mood for Chinese, AYCE, oh and they have Sushi too even Dessert Sushi which I found intriguing and the little kiddos seemed to love it judging by handing them off to a few little ones before I got one piece of my own. I could have sworn I reviewed this place years ago, but either I'm growing senile in my advanced age, I imagined the whole thing, or Yelp's database purged it for me . . . Food and atmosphere are what you'd expect a large volume Chinese buffet. They're almost always busy, so items turn over quickly (a good thing). They've got a large variety - a small sushi bar where they're producing a few rolls and nigiri buffet style, two islands of hot foods, an island of cold foods and condiments, and the random chicken nuggets and pizza to round out the buffet items. They've also got a bar with items for their take on a Mongolian BBQ, as well as a few desserts and soft serve. Overall, a solid value. Service can be a bit spotty - they've got a large drink station in the middle of the main dining area, but it's not self-serve, though it appears to be, and the servers bring you your beverages. Last time in I had a bad enough service experience that I walked out . . . I went in around 2 PM on a weekend for a solo, late lunch. Greeted friendly enough, and they walk me to the second seating area they have, and the hostess apologizes after she realizes the table she took me to still needed to be wiped down, and asks me to sit at another table. I smile and say no big deal, taking off my vest, hanging it on my chair, and fiddling with my phone to check in. I'm still standing, when a gentleman comes up to me and asks me if I can move to another table, and points to one across the room. I'm thinking okay, no big deal, and do so. I'm still standing, wanting to order some hot tea before I go to the buffet, when the original waitress comes back and asks me if I can move again. I'm getting a little fed up with being shuffled around this room, and when I see she's leading me back to the first table (that's now been wiped down), I decide that's enough and politely let her know I'm going elsewhere. Granted, I was in a bad mood that day, but getting asked to sit at 3 different tables 4 times before I've even started eating seemed absurd to me that day, and was enough for me to walk out of there. I get there's a language and cultural barrier, but they've been in business long enough to realize that asking a customer to move after seating them is a bad idea, let along to do it two more times. I had been to this shitty joint about 12 years ago and had vowed never to go here again, a cheap friend of mine insist we have buffet here and after 12 years i relented. The worst mistake ever. The food was just as horrible as it was 12 years ago, the Manager was extremely rude, they started cleaning the stations with windex whilst the food was still there !!!! Tuesday lunch, 2/24/20. The food was good, no complaints, but I have a complaint about the customer service. I had lunch with my twin granddaughters. When I received the bill one was charged adult price and the other child. They are both 9 years old. When I went to pay my bill I pointed this out, hoping for a correction. The cashier said I told her they were 9 and 10 years old. No, they are twins, I would not have said that. She refused to correct the bill, all the while speaking Chinese language loudly with coworkers at the cash register. Positive thing about this place; Plenty of parking. But that is ALL that is positive. There is a terrible odor in the restaurant. The floors are sticky and dirty. Sanitation is not a priority at this roach restaurant. The food is below average. They charge extra for a drink. One should not waste time to check out the dessert. So I bailed on work the other day, basically for lack of interest. I had slept horribly, had bad dreams, and I felt just yucky and tired. And HUNGRY! By the time I left my office around 11:00am and met up with my husband (I always seem to get "sick" on his days off) we both hadn't eaten yet and were starving. We also were trying to not spend too much dinero, so I suggested King Buffet. We both had lunch and sodas there, and with the nice tip we left, we got out of there spending like $22, which rocks. I mean, it's like $5 more than fast food. And way less nasty! So my favorite thing here is mos def the terriaki chicken sticks. I eat like, ten of them. That, and the sesame balls. Those things are freaking delish!!!! I also like that garlicy green bean dish, but I think they make it better at that other Chinese buffet on Plumb lane. When we go there, I eat like 2 plates full of those green beans. The selection here is kind of random and strange. They have super Asian seafood dishes, octopus and stuff that I won't eat because frankly I get a little scared about what that stuff might do inside my belly. Then they have Americanized Asian dishes like fried rice and egg rolls and sweet and sour chicken that mostly anyone will eat. And then they have french fries and chicken nuggets. Oh and they make these little sugar coated fried doughnut things. They are incredible! Seriously! Flakey and yummy and they melt in your mouth. The husband isn't much for sweets, but I practially mouth raped him with one of those fried doughnuts and next trip around the 'ffet, his plate was half filled with them. Their salad bar is also so random! It's like iceberg lettuce and nasty looking pasta salad, various canned fruit some of which I had no idea what it was but I still ate it, tapioca pudding and jello cubes. I did eat some pudding too, tapioca and banana mixed together. It was yummy. King Buffet is one of those places where you can't expect to want to eat EVERYTHING, and there will probably be some things that you shouldn't eat. But if you pick and choose you can fill up on delicious morsels of randomness. Oh and next time I need to go when I actually have money because I want to buy like 10 items from their display case. When I got there to drop off the wedding cake for them to hold for me, they said they don't have any reservations listed under my name or under anyone else in our party. WTF? Since we were in a hurry to get to the ceremony on time, we told them MAKE A RESERVATION FOR SANCHEZ PARTY OF 30 AT 7PM and we were out the door. When we got their after the ceremony, we had to wait for a little bit before we got seated. We had a spacious dining hall that unfortunately we couldn't have all to ourselves. They had 2 other parties in the hall, so the hall was divided into thirds and we were the farthest from the food. And now onto the food! If you like Chinese buffets then you'll like King Buffet. The food was good. I thought it was amazing that they had sushi chefs that would prepare sushi right there in front of you. Not alot of variety like a sushi restaurant but this is a Chinese buffet so don't expect too much. At $7.99 per adult for dinner, we had a great deal at King Buffet that we wouldn't have found anywhere else and believe me, I looked up everything else. For children (ages 12 and under) they charge $3.99 for dinner. If they actually remembered that we had reservations they would have gotten 5 stars but I'll give them 4 for having the sushi station, keeping the buffet well maintained, and their unbeatable prices. read more

It was some really solid Chinese food. I was there with my family this past long weekend and we were disappointed our favorite hotel restaurants at Atlantis and Peppermill didn't have what we were looking for that night. So we came here, and the food was pretty good. It wasn't great, but it was good enough. You could taste how some sushi had been sitting out for a while, and the only reason I was satisfied with some other rolls was because the guy making the sushi was bringing it out fresh and I would see him walking out with it. The pricing though is perfect. When we checked out Atlantis's buffet, it was $24.95/person, and my family was a group of 4, so here at King, we paid for what would've covered two people at Atlantis, so that was a really nice value for our money's worth. I have never seen such a rude waitress in my life. The food was meh. Had a couple decent things that were actually good. But the topping on the cake was when the girl came to take our card and we told her it was ok we would pay at the front. She proceeded to throw her hands up in the air as she walked away. Ok, so this place has gotten some not so great reviews. I have eaten here quite a few times and and I have always found it to be OK...yes just OK....not insanely great, not crappy, just OK. It's a BUFFET, it's not gonna kill you to unwedge yourself out of your booth and take the fifteen steps to the centrally located soda fountain. And to those who complain about "to go cups": You aren't going to die of dehydration if you don't get to take your sixth soda with you on the 4 minute drive home, fatty. Let's get this clear - I don't have high expectations. It's exactly what a Chinese buffet is like: greasy food, tastes okay, waiters hovering over your table, nothing to write home about. The customize-your-own-stir-fry looked to be a hit, but the greasiness started to make my stomach warble as I ate, so I stopped. My boyfriend experienced the same. Good thing you will not be charged extra for food wasted! There is even a "sushi buffet" section, which has okay sushi. At least the rice isn't cold and hard nor the fish tasteless and rubbery! I saw their sushi...but it looked so boring and bland that I veered far away from it. It's a buffet that isn't in a casino. They serve buffet food. They have plenty of parking. The food turnover is pretty good, so it's decently fresh. But as other reviewers have pointed out, there's always that one dish that doesn't seem to attract any eaters, so it gets a little old and dried out. The sushi was acceptable. It's not a sushi bar, so selection is limited, but it's decent. The quality does seem to be variable visit-to-visit (maybe different sushi chefs)? The gari and wasabi don't seem to be refreshed very often. The service is great. The wait staff *do* seem like prison guards, but they're always there refilling drinks and taking plates away. The atmosphere is nil; not very good even for a buffet. The chairs are "lightly padded" (that's a euphemism!) They do have a big screen TV (of course, closed captioning wasn't turned on - why don't more places use that??) The garlic'd green beans are great. As for the pizza and french fries - well, if you can't eat anything else, they're there, but don't go there for them! The one gripe I have is that on my most recent visit, we ended up getting there at 3:20 on a Saturday. The sign said lunch was until 3:30, and dinner started at 4:00. I was fine with the lunch menu. We weren't intentionally trying to get dinner at lunch prices; that's just when we ended up there after activities in town. The hostess said that we would have to pay dinner prices. I pointed out the sign (3:30) and the time (3:20). She pointed to the clock (3:25) and said it was dinner time. (Huh???) Then she said that the dinner items were out already so we would have to pay dinner prices if we wanted to come in. I relented, since she said the dinner items were out. As it turns out, the dinner items such as crab legs *weren't* out. They didn't come out until after 4. But it was OK. We just snacked and picked up the dinner items when they came out. I don't even know what the price difference is. It just felt like they were trying to rip us off, so it left a bad taste in my mouth. As a Chinese/Japanese buffet lover, I have to say that this buffet is only OK (but really disappointing sometimes). I've been trying many other Chinese buffets in town, and am surprised that this restaurant can survive while there have been some other better Chinese buffets which serve much better foods. I have to say that the Chinese foods served by this restaurant are sort of Americanized, which means, the foods here tend to be sweeter and heavier than they should be. I am a Taiwanese, so I sort of know what a decent Chinese food should taste like. For example, their clam and oyster (flavored by black bean sauce) dishes could taste better if they didn't use so much heavy sauce on it. But they have good pot stickers, sesame balls, and Chinese donuts, but their spring rolls were a disappointment (the flavor was just not right...) Their green bean dish is one of my favorites in this restaurant. Their sushi, well, I will never want to touch them because they just don't look that fresh. As for their mongolian barbecue, the foods look fresh. I tried shrimps before and that was delicious. As for their dessert area, I like the Chinese almond cookies and pastries, but sometimes this section looked messy. The more I come here the less I enjoy it. The food is okay, the service is okay not great. Every time I come I'm sat next to a huge group of children who's parents don't know how to parent and keep their kids calm. Kids always running around screaming and in the walk ways. Me and my boyfriend tend to have to ask to be moved to another area. We have to refill our own drinks and I'm just learning to dislike the place. Food isn't amazing and service sucks and the environment is a mad house. If I wanted this I'd go to chucky cheese.But it is cheap meal for all you can eat. In reading other reviews of this business I couldn't help but wonder if people don't understand how a buffet works! People gave bad marks because a "to go" cup was charged for or because they don't take reservations. Most buffets don't do any of this either. I ate lunch today and was very pleased. I got there at 3:00 pm which is not a good time at buffets. By then the food is usually old and left over from the lunch rush but I was greated by fresh and full pans. The number of choices were amazing. Was everything item perfect? No, but close and that's the great thing about a good buffet, if you don't like one item you are free to choose another. I did not try the Mongolian BarBQ because I got full from the many great entrees. I would definitely recommend the King Buffet. I was seated promptly and my tea glasss never went dry! read more

We decided to go back after 10 years of not having set a foot in and they still have ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE!! The whole time we ate we were being stared at, the food was blah...not the greatest and not bad. Looking back now we would have enjoyed Panda Express better. Our done plates sat at the table for quite some time and NEVER did we get asked if we would like a refill on our drinks. When it was time to pay, the husband went to the restroom and I went to the front counter to pay. Shortly after our waiter was right behind us (kids and I) standing a few feet away. When I was signing he got closer, I gave the signed receipt back to the cashier, he said something in their language as she handed him the receipt. I know EXACTLY what he was looking for....THE TIP... since I had not left any in the table. They literally expect you to tip them yet their service sucks!! Now don't get me wrong...this is not going to be the best buffet you have ever tasted or been to, BUT it is also not the worst. It's just like going to a super cheap chinese restaurant. It will get the job done as long as you aren't super picky. Plus if you go on friday or Saturday night you can get all you can eat crab legs at the cheapest price around town. We had places like this all around my hometown so maybe I am biased, but I enjoy their food. Not sure what I expected but I was brought along with my grandparents to this place. I've been to many buffets before, I know not to expect 5 stars but this place did not meet any basic requirements. Cleanliness: Nope, place is dirt colored and everything looks dark. Food: Not good. Everything is too salty, too oily and still lacks flavor. Fried rice, one of the easiest dishes to make, was very bland. Different meats were overcooked and tough. Did not even touch the salad bar for lack of quality. I love good Chinese buffets but this food was very very bad. Sushi was abominable; you really could not call it sushi. Service: Fine, nothing that would keep me from coming back. Ambiance: Screaming children running everywhere, along with a general feeling of somberness about this place. People don't seem happy to be here they just want to eat a lot of food. I guess if you don't care about quality and just want quantity this is the place to come. I think $14 for the weekend buffet is not a good deal for what you get. They have a good selection of food in the buffet. There are some things I don't like about their "system" as far as seating and beverages though. But it is a noisy environment with lots of kids and adult pigs racing around like the food is going to run out. I might go like once a year but that is about it. The place smells funny and the décor is 1970ish. The service is neutral. The only time they really made me mad is with a take out order. It was garbage I had to throw away. Do not ever trust them with take out. It is okay for the selection but not the quality of food. Due to competition from the endless selection of casino buffets, it is hard for a Chinese buffet to compete with a casino. Selection here is always the same. Usually staple of "American" Chinese food and some more authentic dishes like salt and spicy prawns or fried blue crab legs. When we don't feel like cooking or spending a lot of money on nicer Chinese restaurants. We come here because it's fast, and decent. Although tonight, it was slow, being the middle of the week and the food felt like it had been sitting out there for too long. Still there was plenty to choose from and so I did until I found fresher food. It's $11 for all you can eat Chinese food and generic sushi. I don't know why I even come here, maybe because no one could decide on where to go and it seemed easy. The food hasn't changed, mostly junk and fillers. The Mongolian Grill was decent & I love the Mushrooms.... But one thing has definitely changed, the price has gone way up.. I have been to this particular buffet many times and when I found out that while people were getting their food one of the worked scratched her nose and then went to get new trays of food without washing her hand. Also she was cleaning the metal post located by the food. Before I went to grab more food I looked at the stacks of supposedly clean plates and saw this plate was dirty. read more
