I've been coming here since I was a fetus going on ski trips, and the quality has always been consistent. At only ~$11 per adult for dinner, this place is a BARGAIN for all the variety of food you get, from seafood (fish, squid, mussels, etc.) to American food to your typical Americanized Chinese food. It's pretty hit or miss, but as long as you're wise enough not to dig into canned pineapples expecting them to be like fresh ones from Hawaii, you're bound to find something you enjoy eating. My faves from my latest visit were the chicken + veggie dishes, the seafood, ice cream, and the oranges/kiwis/grapes (super super fresh when we visited!!) Overall, I was very satisfied with the food and was s t u f f e d. Granted, the service wasn't impeccable, as the staff seemed pretty bored, but this is a Chinese buffet we're talking about. Decent for the price, that is for sure! Went here on a Sunday night around 8:30pm because they said they were open until 10pm. A lot of the food seemed as if it had been sitting around all night. Out of the things that did still look somewhat fresh, I enjoyed the garlic green beans, mushrooms in oyster sauce, roasted jalenos (which may have been left over from another dish, but delicious, nonetheless), sweet and sour chicken, peaking roasted chicken, mongolian bbq beef and crab rangoon. The boyfriend really enjoyed the clams in black bean sauce too. Around 9:30pm they started taking all the food away. We grabbed dessert quickly but they had already pulled all the cookies and cakes off the display before we got up there. So much for being open until 10pm... Moral of the story, if you go to eat here, arrive before 8pm and probably best to go when there is a large dinner crowd and the dishes turnover often. read more

No. This place focused on variety, but only succeeds in failing in a number of categories. Dirty plates, frozen and reheated food, and sushi that has three times as much rice as fish (and only one type of fish it seems at that)? Ugh. The quality of meat for the Mongolian BBQ was decent, but it all stuck together and tasted bland when I ate it. The most I can say is that nothing was cold or had sat out for long, but there were only one or two things that didn't taste horrible, and nothing that tasted great. Also, they don't let you get your own drinks to try to get tips for the servers. Really classy, guys. I skipped Panda Express because I thought that I'd pay a third more and get much more out of it, but I was tempted to try to get my money back and try my luck there instead. Not that I'd have any luck eating anything, because I started feeling ill on the way home. Just don't come here. This place is absolutely horrible! The food was nasty greasy or disgustingly dry. All if the desserts were so dry and looked old. The service was terrible and the mandatory gratuity for a large party was ridiculously high. They servers asked what we wanted to drink but never offered refills. The employees could not get the checks correct for our party. They asked 3 times how many "tickets" we needed. This place was a huge disappointment. I literally felt sick after eating here. Came in roughly noon, after I created my plate I sat down to only to find out 90 percent of the food I chose was cold. Not luke warm, not even room temperature. It was cold. I was there with a group on a Sunday night (5pm). (Made reservations for 30 to use the side room and paid a deposit a month ago.) One member had died a few days before so I went in personally and asked if we could to 27. After calls to who knows where. they said yes. First person arrived and they said we didn't have a reservation. Tag was 3 feet away taped to wall. After MORE calls they let us in saying if less than 27 showed we would still have to pay that amount. I said ok since it was one check. Used the ladies restroom. Floor was sopping wet and stalls were dirty and lots of paper on the floor. Another member did the same and said if it wasn't our group she would have walked out. Took forever to get drinks and no idea of the cost of them whether beer, wine, tea, etc. It was too much for them to charge each couple for their drinks. Even though 27 dinners were paid at once. When they did serve beer or wine only the bottles..no glasses. I found some behind the bar but they were in the rack DIRTY. Asked for Pepsi glasses. Food was mostly ok. Chicken and pork over cooked. Shrimp not "cleaned or slit" and no way to get meat out with only a fork. No labels, so you don't know what you are looking at to eat. Dessert was some broken cookies of one kind, some vanilla wafers and a sort of almond cookie. It took 20 minutes to get and pay the bill. Ooooooooo my, my o my. I apologize for that lack of syntax and thought put into this review. But this place was just so disgusting I can't think straight. Gross! Mostly everything was dry with zero flavor to it. The dumplings were little laxatives (do I have to spell it out) that were awash with grease. Anything that had pork in it, or pork alone was low quality and dry. The fried rice was dry, old and had zero flavor; you know when you have old rice and it cracks when you bite into it, well it was rice crispies time. The salad bar was pathetic, I didn't even try it. Same with the soups, buckets of death. There was NO WAY I was going for any sushi here, so maybe its good, yeah ok. Everything just had a stale horrible flavor. It matched the building itself which is old, dated, dirty and musty. I was really shocked how awful this establishment is. But alas, 15 bucks for all the slop you can pound down, it's attractive to some no matter how bad it is. Cigarette butts scattered in front of the building on either side of the entrance, bathroom gross, wait staff dirty and unfriendly (FOBs) and terrible food, what a night out!!!!! First of all I have never liked their food, its not fresh and the only thing that is somewhat good is the fried stuffs which is mediocre at best. My larges complaint is that an employee stole my phone and then the other employees fought me when attempting to reclaim it as it was still locating with Samsung find in the back of house. I located the phone and the host refused to help even yelled at me. I tried to explain that it was pinging in the back right now and she called me a liar even when I had the program open in front of her. I returned a half an hour later to talk to the manager, he seemed helpful at first however did nothing when the employee lied and said "they found it in the parking lot" and he gave it to someone else. I continued to ping it in the restaurant and the manager then argued with me saying that it was not there even as the phone was tracked back and forth through the kitchen. I was told I didn't know what I was talking about and the Samsung find program was not accurate. I almost had given up hope however I was still tracking it throughout Reno even finding out were this person lived. Later in the evening my phone pinged at the Atlantis Casino so I went down there with my laptop and pinpointed where this person was by making my phone ring with the app. I followed him as he left continuing to track him, he got into his car and sped off going directly to King Buffet. I then sent a message to my phone using the Lock Phone feature giving my wifes contact info and a message stating "I know where you live, I know where you work, I want my phone back" I called the phone a little while later and this person picked up telling me to meet him at kings buffet in the morning. The person returned the phone without my otterbox case and prepared to be reset. This was a horrible experience and the employees and manager did nothing to rectify this situation, in fact I hold them responsible. I recieved another call from the manager protecting his theif employee by saying the case was broken because a car ran it over however the phone was in perfect condition and otterboxes dont just break it was stolen. I was very unhappy with the way they handled the situation and my very large family and I will not be back. In fact I will warn others not to fall into the same trap that I did. read more

Not good, I mean, at all. Most of the food tastes stale and almost made me sick after having them, I had to recuperate. The fish on the sushi smelled and tasted like it had either gone bad or been out of the fridge for too long, I had to spit it out shortly after putting it in my mouth. The chicken (all the different kinds of chicken they have) all smelled like the meat had gone bad before they cooked it. The "egg flower" soup tasted like rotten eggs, I at first thought it was the bowl that had a stale smell to it, so I got another bowl and tried again, and no, the same rotten egg taste, it was the soup. Gave my card to pay and the server stood over me to insure that I tipped him, after signing the recipe the server reaches for the check presenter and stands there blocking my daughters way to get out of the booth. About once a year or so I get the urge to stop in for lunch or dinner at King Buffet. As a kid, this would always be where I wanted to go for things like birthday dinners. I do have a soft spot for Chinese food, and you certainly get that in abundance here, along with a few other dishes and specialties. The selection you find inside is fairly decent, with trays of typical standbys like noodles, chicken and pork, and so on, with various familiar dishes rotating through from day to day along with a few new takes on more familiar items. There is also a salad bar, a sushi buffet, a section for kids with things like french fries and pizza, a dessert area, and a Mongolian BBQ type setup where you can fill a bowl with noodles, vegies, meats and sauces, and have the cooks fry it up for you. High end Chinese food it most certainly is not. Rather, it is like if you would have any neighborhood take-out place do a buffet. So take that as you will. I have personally never had any outright bad experiences here, and as far as Americanized Chinese fare goes, it is about run of the mill. Though one thing I especially love about King Buffet, and have loved since I was a kid, is the all-you-can-eat rangoons, one of my favorite things ever. The inside is laid out as a large banquet space with tables spaced throughout, and the buffet itself off to one side. Decoration is pretty simple and downplayed. It is also kept pretty clean and tidy, and there is always a fair amount of people cycling through. Parking is excellent, though sometimes getting into the lot can be tricky depending on which direction you approach the cross street from. And honestly, for the price you pay, I think this place is a real bargain. I usually go through at least three plates, so for the price of the buffet I get way more food than a typical combo-meal at a take-out joint. The only major criticism I could lay at this place is that drink and table bussing service seems a bit slow, even when the restaurant is fairly empty. So not a bad lunch. This place is awful and nasty. We will not be back. Food wasn't fresh, some of the seafood that should've been cold was warm, and the place was dirty. Half the plates you went to grab looked rinsed and not properly washed. The ice cream tasted as if it was rotten. When sitting down, you could see the nasty windows that hadn't been cleaned properly and looked very dirty. The waiters were not friendly, the didn't grab your plates when done, I ended up clearing our plates. I saw a waitress in the bathroom picking at her dandruff and didn't wash her hands after. Will never be back here. While there are warm crab legs, they always ran out before I could get any and they didn't refill them often. Unfortunately, nothing was of much quality. I did enjoy the egg drop soup and general Tsos chicken but I would not go back for them. Though no fault of the restaurants, a kid vomited right in the middle of the buffet area. I swear this is the 2nd time I've written this same review but I cannot find my original posting of it anywhere. So here goes again. The food here was bad. Chinese buffet food is never very good, but this is beyond that. It's TERRIBLE. Greasy, overcooked, dried out, ugly looking. Tasteless is the best you can hope for - most of it tastes bad. By comparison, tasteless is an absolute boon to your tongue. Plus they only have green tea. No oolong. No jasmine. Not even Lipton. Just "green tea". What kind of a Chinese place only has one kind of tea, and the weirdest sort at that? Finally drinks are not self-serve. This is so they can justify not paying the staff full wages and force you to tip at a buffet. I'd rather pay an extra couple of bucks and have the staff get paid full wages - that is, if the food were any good to start with, which this is not. I am yet to find a good Chinese place in town, but this place makes all the other Chinese restaurants I've been to EVER pale by comparison - if what you are measuring is how bad they are. I will qualify that - there was a Chinese place in Chapel Hill that was equally bad, plus it was dirty to boot. And there was a place in Springfield MO that actually put uncooked moldy bell pepper chunks in my food. Those places were also pretty horrible. Since I'm not about to go back to any of those places to do a comparison and find out WHICH of these three is the worst-ever Chinese food, we'll just allow as how they're all tied for bottom place and move on. Be warned they Racially Profile. Below is my review. It was only 2 stars but now its negative stars. Upon talking to my husband later that night we were racially profile. Aparently they thought we weren't going to pay. So when i got up to get dessert i noticed they were looking at me. I just thought maybe they think i was done and let it go. My husband later told me that when i went to the bathroom and was taking to long he got up to go pay and just wait in the front. He said the waiter quickly followed him and ask if he was going to pay. He did and sat in the front. After sitting there he realized they DID NOT do that to ANYONE ELSE. Their food is not meant for human consumption. If I could, I would give this restaurant a zero or something in the negative range. All food was cold, there were no signs indicating what anything was. They put regular soy sauce in low sodium bottles, not OK!!! I was very nice and told the gal as I paid that I was very disappointed with their food and all I got was an "I'm sorry". Both of us barely ate anything, maybe a few bites, and left everything else on our plates.
