When you first enter the King Buffet here in Carson City NV you're hit with a dirty fish tank. As you go further into the main restaurant you get dingy dated tables. The buffet itself is limited. The majority of the food is over cooked except the fried items which are so undercooked it's sad. The egg-flower soup is greasy so if you like vegetable oil it's perfect for you. If you like the smell and taste of sewage the hot and sour soup is best for you. The best thing that could happen to this restaurant is a grease fire but we all know that's never going to happen especially when the oil they use for frying isn't hot enough to make food correctly. 1000% do not recommend. For the price, this buffet is actually decent. Food is always well prepared and at an ideal temperature, the dining room and buffet tables are always clean. While much of the staff is very friendly and attentive, I couldn't help but notice the last couple times I had lunch here the staff-member who seems to be responsible for refilling the buffet stations was throwing some of the food that had fallen outside of the hot food treys back into the trays instead of disposing of those items. Since she was doing it in-front of customers it's possible she is oblivious of health standards or was not properly trained. Not sure where to start with this one. Dirty floors, dirty table, dirty silverware, dirty cup, dirty counters, This may sound stupid but it smells in there I'm not sure of what but somewhat like you stepped in something if you get what I'm saying. I came here last night with my dad and his girlfriend for dinner. We were sat promptly and waters were waiting at our table by the time we came back with our first plates. As for the food it was actually really good. The sushi was bomb especially the one with avocado on top I got a lot of those, and the chow mein was good and fresh. Some of the items you could tell were sitting there for awhile especially if they weren't as popular, but most of the food was being rotated fresh. The potstickers were rock hard, fried for a little too long so didn't enjoy that. The atmosphere was just ok, the booths were very old and not very comfortable. I liked the King Buffet until I watched the tall brunette who takes care of the trays of food eat lunch with their crew. She gets up from the table and sneezes twice into her hand and the grabs a tray of food from the window. She adds the tray to the buffet and handled every spoon on the line!!!!! Steeling myself for a couple of hours of shopping at Trader Joe's and Wal-Mart, I stopped here for lunch on Sunday. Price for the buffet was about $12. Lots of food, most of it mediocre, bland or forgettable. The king crab legs they offer daily was surprisingly meaty and served warm, unlike other buffets. I also like a dish they serve that is shrimp served with a heart-stopping amount of butter and cream. I always eat a lot of the asparagus and mushrooms, as well as the fried sugar doughnuts and yummy sesame balls. But as far as the other 847 items on the menu, don't bother. Although they speak in Chinese, they do not take into consideration that some customers (such as my dining partner and employer) is also native Chinese and can understand all the derogatory comments made about not only diners at our table but other customers as well. Am I from another planet or did I travel to a parallel universe? If I would have read the reviews which gave King Buffet 2 stars I probably would not have stopped. In between shopping at Walmart and Costco we decided to try King Buffet on a Monday at 2:00. The lunch price is $7.99 until 3:30 which is less than some burgers cost at other (unnamed) places in the same parking lot. To me lunch is one $ sign. I have never had salmon at a buffet that tasted as good and fresh. The various California rolls were all good. My wife enjoyed the chicken on a stick, egg drop soup and yes, the salmon. We also ate the more normal Chinese dishes and everything tasted good. The fruit was fresh and the lychees were great for dessert. We plan to return the next time we are in the area. read more
