Not currently impressed with the service, prices, or smell of smoke wafting through the restaurant. They say they have the Original Awful-Awful since 1956. It is nothing more than a double cheeseburger on a plain bun with a small hand full of flavorless fries on a plate. The actual Downtown Nugget Awful Awful was a large single patty with cheese, sauce, lettuce and tomato on a seasoned bun with an absurd amount of well seasoned fries in a basket. The price is a nearly $20 with an iced tea and could be compared to the likes of a $11 Whopper combo or a $12 Famous Star combo. We were in on a Saturday around 1 pm and there was one server with 12 tables and lots of wait time for food, drinks, refills, condiments.... ugh! Premium prices for lackluster food and poor service. Ugh!

It has been years since I have been to this casino. We used to gamble and eat here all the time. It opened its doors in 1954. So it has been around the bin. It is a fun place to gamble especially if you are a local. They have a bingo parlor too. In 2008 it became the oldest Casino in Carson City. The Casino has an excellent Coffee Shop, Steakhouse, and comedy club. Needless to say, it still maintains its nostalgic feel. So if you wanna try your luck with the locals and make friends, try this Casino.

Awful Awful

Ever since they closed the Little Nugget in Reno during the plandemic, it's been sad. There was nowhere to get the signature Awful Awful that always capped off a late night session. Whether out drinking with my friends or after a fight, if I was in Reno at Zero Dark 30; I was having an Awful! So, imm in Carson craving a burger and wound up here The casino is an old time classic casino that reeks of cigarettes and bad decisions but the coffee shop is clean and bright Don't come here if you're in a hurry because you will wait Burger was ok. It's called an Awful Awful but it can't hold a candle to the original. Staff is nice. They're just slow to wait on you

Carson City has a classic old casino. It has been renovated at times through the years so the inside doesn't look quite as old. The Nugget is a place mostly for locals but it's also okay for outsiders. Has a hotel behind it if anyone wants to actually stay here. The restaurant inside the casino serves basic breakfast and sandwiches. It isn't a fancy place by any means and it has that classic stench of an old casino. Of course, it's not as dirty as it could be, and the smell had to be even worse in the old days. The casino has a few other amenities besides gambling. Comedy fans should check out the comedy club. There's often headliners that more than a few people have heard of. Also you can't forget to mention the cafe. This has classic American casino food. Breakfast is apparently the most popular time to eat. They get in a lot of people for the big pancakes. Gambling is why most people come of course. Table games usually close early on the weekdays, and when it gets busier on weekends these are open for longer. Also check out the Batmobile. It has a replica from the TV show. This certainly is a fake but it's still cool though.

I stopped in here with my crew a couple of weeks ago but forgot to write a review. I just…read moreremembered when I came across the food pics! We went to the restaurant inside the Gold Dust Casino in Carson City. There was a little wait to get the host to seat us. They were doing double duty as the cashier as well. The smoke in the restaurant is less than it is in the casino, as far as smaller casinos go, the smoke wasn't super bad. We got seated and drink orders taken. I see they have a prime rib special available 7 days a week for $16.99, not just on Friday's and Sat. like some other casino restaurants, plus, you don't have to wait till 4pm either, available at 11am seven days a week! I went with that, medium rare please. Someone else ordered the breakfast, "Little Star", basically a standard 2 egg with hashbrowns and toast and sausage for $7.99. One of the crew ordered the "Wrangler" burger, a double bacon cheeseburger with onion rings in the burger, served with fries. For appetizers, we got the onion rings and the loaded potato skins. The food all arrives and everything looks scrumptious. My Prime Rib was a decent size cooked as ordered, served with a baked potato. The appetizers were good, I actually like the loaded skins with the melty cheese and bacon. The onion rings were a smallish portion, but I guess it was just $4.99 so there's that. The Wrangler burger was quite a sight! He said the meat was real good and seemed like bigger than the two 1/4 pound patties on the menu. I'd come back here again, this is a new revamped menu from years ago.

I frequent many dining establishments across Fernley, Sparks, Reno, and most recently Carson City, and from our experiences, Gold Dust West stands out. The employees we've encountered consistently provide good to great customer service and genuinely understand the value of repeat customers and long-term business. They almost always have a wait during dinner hours; however, tables turn quickly and the kitchen keeps up with demand. We've never waited long for our food, which says a lot during peak times. I honestly wish this level of understanding and execution could be instilled in some other nearby cities here in Northern Nevada. Grateful shout-outs to Rebecca in Guest Services, Jelly our server, and Jason (J) the bartender at GDW Casino. And at The Grille at GDW Casino--thank you to Manager Bryant, whom I truly appreciate for taking the time to have a conversation, Host Ashley, and our great server Aquiles. Also, kudos to the chef and kitchen staff for consistently delivering good-quality food in a timely manner. Great service, great teamwork, and another enjoyable visit.

We stayed at the extended stays at the motor lodge next door. Be aware - you have to register at…read morethe casino as the office for the motor lodge hasn't been used in years. Basically our room was two rooms that have been converted into a suite that has a kitchen, little dining island, living room, and a separate bedroom and bathroom. It has two doors to enter, so a little weird but honestly, super practical. The rooms were very quiet and I couldn't hear any noise from any neighbors. The shower was great and the water stayed super hot through both of our showers. The room was spacious and clean (though the floor could have been swept/mopped better imo). The first night we were there, someone got sick in the parking lot. I called the operator and explained the situation and asked if they had anyone to clean it up as it wasn't exactly what anyone wants to see and to my surprise they immediately sent someone out who was able to clean up that spot! Thank you!! The casino is small, but had some good games. Overall, I'd stay here again.

We have stayed in the hotel a couple times as well. We're pretty satisfied with both areas. This time we're staying in the motor lodge section of CVI. It's ok. Not our favorite. The room needs a lot of updating. It's a little dingy in some areas and it's not as clean as we expected it to be. Curtains have hooks missing and signs of stains. Bathroom rusting in some spots and exhaust fan cover just hanging to dear life. It's a nice location and it's walking distance to a lot of places. Oh also, the walls are super thin. We can hear our neighbors talking clearly. It's like they're just in our bathroom at 1 point their conversation was so clear. This motor lodge had a lot of potential so please please CVI management please consider updating and give the rooms some attention. It's going to be really bad in a couple of months if it's not attended to asap. Love love love CVI. Staff is 110% helpful and kind!!! Save the motor lodge. Do t let it be an afterthought

If you're Diamond status and up, it's free. There are two parking machines to feed your ticket by the stairs. You can also feed it at the gate when you leave. Best to do it beforehand in case your card needs assistance. The location is central and walking distance to everything. CVS is outside on the main street to pick up water or what you left at home. You can get coffee at Starbucks downstairs in the lobby or outside next to CVS called Noel's. Access to Ceasar Republic is connected underground to go across the street. We could hear people on the hallway and next door. Elevator screens didn't show what floor you were on or going to. So that made things a little confusing. Lots of areas undergoing construction, like the arcade. And pretty expensive too. The resort fees ($30 a day) and the self parking ($20 a day) make this stay something like a 5 star hotel, but it isn't that. Location is great. Quick walk to Heavenly Village. Love that it's connected by an escalator to Caesar Republic (formerly Harvey's). I probably wouldn't stay here again. I would stay across the street at Caesar Republic which seemed to be newer and fresher.
