The town is absolutely charming but what caught my attention was Sierra Chef. We made our way to the door and I was immediately in heaven as we entered the building. The store was filled with amazing Italian food items including pastas, sauces, and cheeses. There were chef prepared dinners for you to order to take home. Italian pastries and gelato tempted us. I gave in and ordered a pistachio gelato which was divine. My husband ordered a cookie and espresso which he said was perfectly prepared. I wish we would have had more time at Sierra Chef because we would have ordered more food items to try. The next time we are in the area, we will be making a stop to pick up some tasty treats!

Sierra Chef - Made In Nevada [Genoa NV]…read more I followed the garlicky smell of the savory prosciutto flatbread and our noses led us here at this Italian bakery called Sierra Chef. The minute we walked inside the smell of baked pastries, cookies, and sweet & savory treats permeated the store. Ahhhh... Sierra Chef also offers cooking classes for adults and children in their commercial kitchen. Saw a few ladies behind the counter taking the class and having fun at the same time while I perused through the items offered... some fun handcrafted kitchen items laid out on the back table. We were just looking for dessert since we already had brunch across the street at the Flutter & Buzz Cafe. I asked for gelato and chose dark chocolate flavor. Waited while the employee went towards the back to scoop our ice creams. I had no idea how huge the servings were when she handed the cups to me. I should've just asked for one cup to share. It was delicious though. We sat and enjoyed them outside at their outdoor patio. The weather was beautiful and perfect for gelato. Mangia Bene! Review #3734

The food? Absolutely delicious. The venue? Breathtaking--those views are unforgettable. It was the perfect backdrop for our reception, and honestly, we never wanted the night to end. The entire experience exceeded our expectations in every way. Our guests had such a great time, they're already asking when the next party will be--an anniversary celebration here might just be in the cards! Huge thanks to the amazing team for making our special day so memorable. We can't recommend this location enough!

Was an odd setting with people milling around the museum property, located right next to the venue and seen behind the cross). I should give 1 star, but the beginning started off ok, so a 2 it is. My son and his fiance needed an affordable wedding venue in October 2023 and found The Park Home Ranch available. Sadly, he was not able to afford the extra services that were up-sold , so he and his new wife only rented the barn. Extra things like servers, bartender, etc. were out of their price range, so they had friends/family assist which worked out fine. There was only one Park Home Ranch staff person that was available to direct. At first she was helpful and friendly, but that didn't last. Not sure when she left, but she returned at the end. The rental was until 11 pm. Wedding went on as planned with a few normal hiccups, but it was the end that I was horrible. They were starting to wrap up the celebration, as we all knew we had to be completely out by 11 pm. At 10 pm, the Park Home Ranch staff person came in hot and told them "you have to leave now and take your trash with you!!! (I emphasize the explanations). When my son explained to her that we would be out by 11 pm as contracted, this woman literally continued yelling at him, in front of the guests, "that this was the worst party she's ever done, that everyone was horrible and that everyone had to get out". Again, appalled that my husband and I and most of the guests overheard this. The DJ was stopped and pretty much everyone that was still there started grabbing stuff and throwing it in whomever's car/truck they could find to be re sorted and distributed back to the bride and groom later. We were out earlier than 11 pm, and took "all our trash with us." What an absolute nightmare to have whomever this staff woman was completely ruin the last hour of a wedding celebration. When speaking to my son and his wife about this, they said when they talked with Elizabeth the owner, her response was "maybe she was having a bad day" and that she said that we were the ones causing trouble. Seriously??? No apology or offer to refund even a little bit, or reprimand this employee? The bride's mother also called to complain. It was very business unprofessional. Most in attendance were professional adults. No one "trashed the place", everything was left as it was found, but the impression was made. Final thought, make sure you get what you contract for. The niceties are great in the beginning, but a wolf in sheep's clothing...... Make sure you understand everything before signing. And don't let a disgruntled person ruin your wedding. And we brought some Bay Area friends with us. We also came in mid-week to avoid any crowd potential. Our evening began at the bar with a round of Picon Punch, the official drink of the State of Nevada. I first thought that this was a drink that you only ordered once, but this small glass of goodness actually grew on us. After closing the bar bill and looking at all the branded merchandise, it was off to the main dining room. We chose the Basque Family Style side of the menu, which at the end of the evening resulted in number of take home containers. Our 4 choices were Basque Chicken, Fish, Lamb Shoulder, and Lamb Chops. Those came with Vegetable Soup, Salad, Beef Stew, Beans, French Fries, Bottle of Red Wine, Coffee, and Ice Cream. for the Table. These inclusive choices were priced just south of $40 and that's what the bill was at the end of the evening, as there were no extras needed. OK, the included wine was a little on the sweet side, but we didn't see the need to "upgrade" as we were too busy concentrating on the food. It was all good, especially the Soup and the French Fries. The only regret was not being here on the night they served Huckleberry Ice Cream, but our Vanilla or Pistachio Almond was good enough. JT Basque is family generation owned, and we certainly felt welcome and well taken care of. The rustic decor was also cool, as was the happy energy in the dining room. We promise to come back and not be strangers.

Why is this THE ONE when it comes to Basque dining? Well... It's steeped in history in a way you can feel from the moment you step onto the wooden sidewalk out front. You'll see it on the walls, hear it in the conversations, and taste it in the food. This is simply a special place. You'll feel truly at home, and that's because the same family has operated it for countless generations, passing down legendary hospitality like a family heirloom. From friendly greetings in the "lobby" to the homey vibes and warm servers, you'll love every moment. Doesn't hurt that the food is delicious and plentiful. Everything is made from scratch with a lot of love, and each dish is huge and hearty. Lamb chops and lamb shoulder steaks are always A+ but be sure to order the desired temp because they don't always ask. Steaks are solid too. Same tip as above. And for all three, don't forget to get them smothered in whole cloves of roasted garlic. Personally I usually can't say no to sweetbreads at a Basque spot, and that's the case here as well. They're served in a rich, garlicky and well seasoned gravy, studded with red and green peppers and whole cloves of garlic. It's the perfect dish to use up the extra bread because you won't want to leave a drop. Make sure you bring a couple bucks to leave up on the ceiling! The bartenders can show you how to make em stick. And of course, have a picon punch!
