The barn where the reception was held is simply beautiful. The things I really did not like however, were the restroom situation and the ROCKS. The restrooms were in a trailer that is not handicap accessible whatsoever. There were several guests who were using walkers and I imagine they either had a difficult time accessing the restrooms or could not access them at all due to the stairs that needed to be climbed. I don't use a medical device to get around but my disability did make using the restrooms very inconvenient. I also wore very small heels (one inch pumps), and had a TERRIBLE time walking around through the rocky ground between the barn and the restrooms. The rocks are very sharp and tore up the heels of my shoes a little bit as well. I understand the rocks are likely there to cut down on the dust since this is a working farm, but I think switching out the current rocks to pea gravel or a crushed stone would make traversing the area easier for everyone. I'd also recommend clear signage from the parking area to the ceremony/reception areas. Like I mentioned, the venue is beautiful, just keep in mind that anyone with mobility issues or heels will have a difficult time moving around.

It reminds me a little bit of Virginia City, only without the bars, casinos, old-time photo shops, and camel races. Genoa is the oldest town in Nevada, founded in 1851 as a Mormon trading post. It still has lots and lots of history. Mormon Station State Park has replicas of some of the original buildings, and there are other historic buildings in town as well. however, Genoa feels more like a small ranching town rather than a big movie set. Tucked into this cute little town, is the Sierra chef. They do a lot. They do catering, they do cooking classes and it's a good old-fashioned Italian deli, also. Lots of Italian foods, and also grocery items, that you can buy. They have meats and cheeses, imported olive oils , sauces, and pastas. Amazing pastries. Gelato. They even carry. Illy coffee, which is a very high-quality coffee. Everybody in the store was so nice. For my lunch order, I was helped by Lori, and she was also very friendly and helpful. I decided to have the Porchetta sandwich, and it was amazing. Wonderfully seasoned pork, cut into thin strips. It was rich, savory, and had an amazing "porky" flavor. I could smell it as soon as it was brought out to my table. It was on a wonderful bread that was crusty on the outside, and soft and pillowy on the inside. , the cheese was creamy, , and the veggies were just absolutely amazing. One of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time. To drink, I had a cherry lime, Italian cream soda. I could taste both the cherry and the lime, I loved the creaminess of it, and there was just enough of a soda water that I could get the carbonation. For dessert, I had a cannoli. The shell was perfect, the ricotta in the middle was wonderfully rich, and I had chocolate chips on one end, and pistachios on the other. Again, totally top-notch. I took home a jar of imported puttanesca sauce, and it was just as great. The tomatoes had just had a rough chop, I could taste the brine from the capers, I could taste the olives, everything in it made it one of the best sauces that I have had in a long, long time. I live in the Sacramento area, so I'm going to have to see if I can find that sauce locally. It was that good. **Disappointing Experience at Cook'd in Minden**…read more We had a group of 11 of us traveling on a motorcycle road trip and were looking for a nice place to stop for lunch while passing through Minden. We chose Cook'd because the restaurant looked clean and inviting in the photos, and the menu looked very good. We arrived on a Saturday around 12:30 p.m. We were warmly greeted and seated together in the front dining room. The restaurant did not appear particularly busy, with plenty of open tables. Unfortunately, that's where our positive experience started to decline. Our server took our drink orders, but there was a significant delay before we received them. When it came time to order our food, we were told that the restaurant would not allow separate checks. For a group of 11, we would have needed only six checks, which seems like a reasonable request. Anyone who has traveled with a large group knows how difficult it can be to divide one large bill fairly. Trying to determine each person's food, drinks, tax and tip individually is a hassle that the restaurant could easily avoid by simply providing separate checks. In my opinion, if a restaurant chooses to require one check for a group, it should have a good reason--and the service should be organized enough to justify that policy. We were told in the past by other restaurants that large groups sometimes have to use one check so the kitchen can coordinate the meals and have everything come out together. Unfortunately, that certainly wasn't our experience at Cook'd. Our meals came out in pieces, with some people finished eating before others had received their food. The biggest problem was that **one person's meal never came out at all**. We eventually had to track down our server and the manager to find out what happened. When the meal finally arrived, it was cold. We asked if the meal could be removed from the bill. The server initially said she couldn't do that but would check with the manager. To the restaurant's credit, the manager did agree to remove the meal from the bill. Unfortunately, the billing problems continued. After we finally received our bill, the restaurant agreed to separate it into two checks. However, the tip was then **double-charged, resulting in a 36% tip**. We had to catch the error ourselves. The entire experience was frustrating and, frankly, unacceptable. We came in expecting a pleasant lunch at what appeared to be a nice restaurant, but the slow and inattentive service, meals arriving at different times, a missing and cold meal, and the billing/tip issue made the experience much more difficult than it should have been. I hope the management at Cook'd takes this review as constructive criticism. The restaurant itself has a nice appearance, the menu looked appealing, and the staff was initially friendly. With better organization, more attentive service, and a better system for handling larger groups and their checks, this could be a much better experience for customers. For our group, however, this lunch was a total fiasco and certainly not the experience we expected.

The rental was until 11 pm. Wedding went on as planned with a few normal hiccups, but it was the end that I was horrible. They were starting to wrap up the celebration, as we all knew we had to be completely out by 11 pm. At 10 pm, the Park Home Ranch staff person came in hot and told them "you have to leave now and take your trash with you!!! (I emphasize the explanations). When my son explained to her that we would be out by 11 pm as contracted, this woman literally continued yelling at him, in front of the guests, "that this was the worst party she's ever done, that everyone was horrible and that everyone had to get out". Again, appalled that my husband and I and most of the guests overheard this. The DJ was stopped and pretty much everyone that was still there started grabbing stuff and throwing it in whomever's car/truck they could find to be re sorted and distributed back to the bride and groom later. We were out earlier than 11 pm, and took "all our trash with us." What an absolute nightmare to have whomever this staff woman was completely ruin the last hour of a wedding celebration. When speaking to my son and his wife about this, they said when they talked with Elizabeth the owner, her response was "maybe she was having a bad day" and that she said that we were the ones causing trouble. Seriously??? No apology or offer to refund even a little bit, or reprimand this employee? The bride's mother also called to complain. It was very business unprofessional. Most in attendance were professional adults. No one "trashed the place", everything was left as it was found, but the impression was made. Final thought, make sure you get what you contract for. The niceties are great in the beginning, but a wolf in sheep's clothing...... Make sure you understand everything before signing. And don't let a disgruntled person ruin your wedding.
