It's been a while since we had lunch King Buffet at the Carson City location. When we entered the restaurant, the crowd was still pretty light but soon enough a steady stream of customers walked in the restaurant through our visit. The employees at the restaurant were very nice and efficient, they cleared our tables and topped off our drinks quickly and frequently. There was a good selection of food but it was a bit different from what I was used to but it was still pretty good and they had a good selection. Our 5-person party enjoyed a great many dishes they offered; I especially liked the two fish dishes in their buffet and all the seaweed salad I can eat from their sushi section. I also liked their coffee-flavored cake; I wished I had another stomach just eat more of it. So, in summary, we had a good lunch at Carsom City King Buffet

Came here with the family and friends. Everyone had a good time. The ambience was nice. We all caught multiple plates between the four adults and one for y'all. We pretty much tried everything. I really like the Mongolian barbecue was so good everything we could pick I chose lots of veggies and some shrimp of that protein. I feel that the crab Ragu could be cooked a little bit longer there a little under Guin but everything else was good deafly will be back. The servers were very polite cleared our place quickly. Thank you.

Today i give them a 4 only because the green beans were hard and cold and so were the french fries. Other than that everything else was great. The place was clean and cool and the staff were attentive.

I just can't resist a Chinese buffet when I'm traveling and this was another example of that. I had skipped lunch and this ended up as an early dinner in Carson City. The buffet is in good shape. Nothing spectacular but clean and restocked often. I was able to put together a decent plate of all proteins though I did pop a couple pieces of nigiri sushi on a second plate. A little on the bland side but this is an Americanized Chinese buffet so that's to be expected. Clean restaurant and my waitress refilled the water and cleared dirty plates as needed. I'd have liked to see one-use gloves out on the buffet line for safety but I was glad I had brought a couple of my own. [Review 17686 overall - 32 in Nevada - 1207 of 2022.]

Great food and quite affordable for the variety and taste. The sushi selections were quite good and not overstuffed with rice. The variety shrimp selections were excellent and everything overall tasted quite good. The staff were fast at clearing up the plates from the tables and replenishing the buffet selections. Definitely will be back for more.

Normally in the Sacramento area, this would be a 4 star buffet, of which we have tons. But here in this Carson City area, it's as good as it's gonna get as far as a Chinese buffet. We're southbound on the 395 freeway, and it just ends here in south Carson, like they didn't have enough money to get it to the outside of town. As we climb this hill I see a King Buffet sign. This traffic sucks, so let's do lunch at a buffet! I couldn't tell it was Chinese by the name "King Buffet", but that's what it was. We just swing in and plenty of parking. There's even a Trader Joe's next door. I don't see any signs of what the price is, but how much can a Chinese buffet be? Oh, OK, it's $11.99 plus tax and tip for lunch. There's 2 steam tables with food and another table with sushi and another with desserts and a stir fry station. I see all the standard Chinese buffet foods, chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, pot stickers, 2 kinds of steamed fish, green beans, fried chicken wings, plus many others. The food looked fresh at 11:30am at least. The guy was just making the sushi rolls. Sampling the wings ... I really love those fried wings! One great trick with the wings is scoop some of the sauce out of the General Chicken and put that on the fried wing ... yummers! The sushi was OK, the steamed fish was tender and the pot stickers were decent. Really, not a bad buffet as far as Chinese buffets go. I guess at dinner they bring out the seafood of crabs and shrimps, but not at lunch. The plates were cleared right away and water filled. Watching the people file in here, seems like half the landscaping crews come in here, I can see why, all you can eat food for about $11, then back out on the job. It didn't take long to get our fills, as there's no waiting lines, just walk up grab food and eat. I'll say buffets are a time saver if you just need food and get back to whatever you do. OK, back on the road southbound and down! I'd recommend this place for a quick lunch or dinner where you get to see the food before it ends up on your plate. Not really a date place.

It was alright given it was only $14 for AYCE. But if you don't come in with those expectations, you'll probably leave pretty disappointed.

On a previous visit, I was seated in the back of the restaurant, which I was fine with at first, until I realized that's also where staff eat. One employee sat down near me on his break and was loudly eating with his mouth open, shoveling food in with his chopsticks right in my line of sight. It was uncomfortable and honestly pretty gross, to the point that I asked to move tables. On my most recent visit, the service was again disappointing. After my drink was dropped off, my server basically disappeared -- no check‑ins, no options offered, and it took a long time to get anyone's attention for simple things like refills or the check, even though it wasn't that busy. The sushi itself is fine and the prices are reasonable, but between being seated next to an employee loudly eating his break meal and the consistently inattentive service, it's hard to relax and feel like a valued customer. With other sushi options in the area, I'd rather go somewhere that feels a bit more professional and attentive.

First off, nigiri. These are HUGE and they come with a sizable slab of sashimi cut fish on top too. Pro-tip is to order less than you think you'll eat, because the size is sure to surprise and they will fill you up quickly. Don't sleep on the specialty nigiri here OR he Scallop Supreme appetizer, which is seared scallop sashimi! Second, sticking with the size matters theme, the hand rolls. Spicy salmon, spicy scallop and scallop OG are all stellar, and you will be blown away by the amount of seafood stacked in these when they arrive. One is easily an entire maki roll worth of filling and you will be stoked when you sink your teeth in. I definitely ordered at least two spicy salmon hand rolls and should have had a third. Third, massive maki, perfectly proportioned and portioned for sharing. Do yourself a favor and order the Pink Fire with spicy yellowtail seared with togarashi, sesame oil, salt & pepper wrapped in soy paper, then topped with seared tuna, yummy sauce, teriyaki, ponzu, green onions, chili flakes, & sesame seeds. The Double Down is another winner with salmon, tuna, yellowtail on the inside, then topped with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, tobiko, avocado. FOURTH, don't skip dessert! Can you say house-made ice cream?? I can and I'd say it two or three times here if they'd let me. This stuff is SERIOUSLY good. Desserts are not an afterthought here and you need to save room. FIFTH, last but 100% the most important and not least, SERVICE IS STELLAR! Yes. They are on it. They love what they serve. They're a solid team and this place wins as a result! Now, mind you it's been years and years since my wife and I had gone to Duke's, but based on that recommendation, we took a fresh look at it. As an aside, neither my wife, nor I can remember why we hadn't been back, and at the end of the day we felt like this was one of the best meals we've had in the valley or in Carson City in recent memory. We arrived early and enjoyed a cocktail at the bar with Alec. He was friendly and knowledgeable and, with us, patient as we talked about cocktails, a friend we had in common, and the Pappy Van Winkle they had on the shelf behind him. It was right below the Louis the 13th. Let me just say that the Frey Ranch bourbon old-fashioned he made us was delicious. We were seated on time and greeted by a very professional server named Alex. He was assisted by a busser named Kristin. They worked very well together, and we were constantly refreshed with water, bread and drinks. The environment was very pleasing. There were no TV screens, loud noise or music, and the room was spacious. The patrons were nicely distanced from each other. They have established a true old school steakhouse environment. The menu had items that allowed everybody something they could enjoy. Steak was the star of the show, but there was a nice variety of seafood and chicken that was also available. As a group we enjoyed a filet mignon with Berna sauce, the house special that night, which was in New York steak with blue cheese, chicken, Cordon Bleu, and a piece of cod. For appetizers, we had chosen a shrimp cocktail and escargot. Both looked and tasted exceptional. It was at this point that we ordered our first extra basket of bread as I wanted to enjoy every bit of the buttery garlic, and blue cheese escargot drippings that I could. To summarize, I would be remiss without commending the chefs as the food was presented beautifully and tasted every bit as good as it looked. The staff that we bumped into was very positive and friendly. So if you're in the Carson City or Carson Valley know that this is well worth your careful consideration when considering a fine dining experience if you're in the market for a steakhouse. We will definitely be back.
