The menu here has a little of everything. I would classify it in the upscale modern category. I have had the pizzas from their stone-fire oven before and they are amazing. Tonight I decided to switch it up and get the pork chop. It's flavor was mouthwatering and they executed the medium rare perfectly. It was served over creamy polenta and strips of asparagus. It all blended together to make a magical dish. For my drink, I had a tequila mule with pepper infused tequila. Excellent. The only reason for the knock of a star was the obnoxious Motown music that randomly was put on. This lasted for 10-15 minutes with the volume continuing to go up and down, sounding like the speakers were blown. Very off-putting. My wife and I have come and eaten here several times over the last couple of years. The food has been inconsistent at best; sometimes it's good, other times it's mildly decent. Service has always seemed to have been an issue at the bar, but the most recent trip I made in will be the last for a long time. Had to grab our own menus from someone else. After waiting almost ten minutes without being acknowledged whatsoever, walked up from to ask if we needed to check in with someone or what was going on. Turns out the bartender that had walked past us numerous times was just completely ignoring us. The cost of the food (more than it should be) vs the quality of service (not good) doesn't make for return customers. read more

Wanted to give Kin another chance but wish I didn't. Called in a order for pick up they said it would be ready in 15-20 mins. I arrived at 15 mins the host checked in and said we are waiting on the steak. After paying and tipping more than generous I asked for extra sauce for the calamari. The host who was very nice said no problem. The host returned a minute later and said I'm sorry we are out of calamari and I'm not sure who took your order over the phone. She asked if I wanted to order something else. I declined as I was still waiting on that steak ( medium) that they confirmed was on the grill when I arrived. The host refunded my card. Still waiting on my medium steak. A few mins later the host handed me my food. After returning home I cut into the steak and of course it's still mooing... it was rear. Kin was great but our arrival was met with a bit of an uncomfortable experience observing interactions between the manager and staff. On this rainy Sunday evening our outdoor table while set was wet, so we asked to be moved to a more covered (or drier) spot and didn't mind waiting. To accommodate this request, I found the manager to be condescending and aggressive with directions to the staff. From the looks of it, the staff seemed used to this experience. We felt sad for all of them throughout our visit. Our server was courteous, attentive and very nice throughout our stay. The subtle gesture of bringing out a snack plate for a child was very nice. My personal favorite entrée was the pork chop, perhaps one of the best I've had. My wife got the braised short ribs, which I found to lack flavor and was just not very appetizing to look at either. I have seen this dish prepared very differently and well in other places. We topped of our night sharing the bread pudding which was delicious and the crème brule which was a bit too sweet with a strong hand of toffee flavoring/essence. read more

The dressing was very good, light and tasty. Then the main course I decided to try the Short Ribs over a bed of polenta and I tell you it was the best shorts ribs I ever tasted. Lean with no fat, very tasty and it melted in your mouth. It was a dinner you didn't want to end! We love Kin and they NEVER disappoint! We went there yesterday for a late lunch and while we were looking at the menu our waiter noticed we were wearing our WorldMark key bracelets. He told us the bracelets entitled us to a free starter! We were thrilled and ordered the chicken wings! They were delicious! We each ordered half salads which were also delicious! Our first dinner at Kins a couple of months ago was ok, but our recent dinner was very disappointing. Made a reservation for 4; when we arrived the restaurant crowd was unreasonably noisy. We asked for the booth with tall seat backs but we were refused, "that table is for 5 people". Within a few minutes the same hostess seated a party of 3. We asked them if they had a reservation; they advised that they had no reservation, they were just walk-in. The wings which were hot and wonderfully crispy on our previous dinner were soft and like warm. The fries were cold and limp. The fish tacos were cold and stale. The pizza was limp. 3.5 I'd say. Service is quick to get to you, place gets busy. Clean establishment, nice set up. Few shortcomings with the food though. I had ordered the frickles and the summer veggie pizza. The frickles were good, what you expect. The breading they use stayed crunchy all the way back to the office which was good, and the two dipping sauces worked pretty well. The summer veggie pizza was where things fell short though. The middle of the pizza wasn't as cooked as I'd like, the crust tasting slightly sweet in the middle and quite chewy/soft. Held together decently, but just felt like uncooked bread. The crust was well cooked though and had a good savory flavor. The veggies that were used all taste fresh between the grape tomatoes, zucchini, and the eggplant. The veggies were lightly cooked on the pizza with the eggplant marinated in with a bit of oil and possibly the basalmic. Overall, I wanted the pie to be cooked more for both the veggies as well as the crust itself. The light basalmic brought things together but you could still taste the inconsistencies in the cooking unfortunately. I suppose it wasn't cooked too long to prevent liquid runoff from the veggies perhaps but who knows, I wasn't in the kitchen. There's certainly promise. Perhaps their other pizzas are better, but I'll certainly have to question another visit if the manner of cooking is the same for all of them. read more

Our lunch was not great. Split pea soup was salty and did not have the bacon as indicated. Fried calamari did not have Old Bay seasoning as stated. It was not sliced calamari with rings and ends. The food is rather pedestrian. Everything we had tasted basically good, but it was generally over-salted and under-prepped. The kale salad was probably the most underwhelming as the kale was super tough. A little finer chop and a little massaging would have been preferred. Plus the dressing was quite sweet and basic. The beet salad was a bit better - everything seemed to mesh well. Still an overly sweet dressing, but the goad cheese balanced it. The Caesar was exactly as expected, and the chicken breast on top was a pleasant surprise as it was perfectly done. The drawing was a little salty, but OK. The margherita pizza arrived a little cold but 2 min under the broiler and it was perfect. It's not a super-thin crust, but it was good, although still a little overly salty. The baby loved it. All in all this place to me felt like a step up from an Olive Garden or a Cheesecake Factory. They probably do a good 4-star burger. My main complaint, however, is that when I called to ask about their calamari - if it was real or imitation, the person on the phone said that it wasn't "tubes and tentacles" and that it was more like fish sticks. I didn't order it. Others have had the same response. I do with they served real calamari as this feels like a place that could pull that off. read more

The kitchen is prompt and gets it done, unfortunately We put a time in the notes three nights in a row. The waitstaff can make all the difference in your dining experience. Read futher to understand what happened. Our waitress was Amber. I only know her name because I asked her. When she would visit our table she never said or did anything to make us feel welcomed. She always left quickly without giving us a moment to say anything. I let her know on three different occasions that our table was uneven and rocking back and forth. Each time I saw her she quickly said she told someone or said, "They haven't come yet?" and moved on. This made me feel like I wasn't heard nor cared for. I ordered a glass of the Murphy-Goode Cabernet. It tasted very acidic as though the bottle had been opened for a few days. There was no bread service. I thought most restaurants at least served bread, right? Not here unless they ran out... We placed our orders. The seasonal vegetables we learned were brussel sprouts. We found this out when they were on our plates. Considering that a whole lot of people do not them we should have been told what the options were in advance. When my daughter ordered her pesto chicken sandwich she was told they ran out of fries. Who runs out of fries during the week??? My grandson's pizza was supposed to come with juice, a cheese plate and a cookie. He never got them and Amber never mentioned it. My daughter brought it up later and Amber said they ran out. Ran out??? They ran out of more stuff??? Wow!!! Why didn't Amber tell us as we were ordering that certain items were sold out? That could have informed our choices. Food comments: Pork chop: It was cold and hard. My husband had a steak knife and could barely cut into it. The seasoning could barely be detected. It had 'hint' of spice. He felt so uncomfortable in asking Amber to send the pork chop back that he just kept it. Wow! A $22 entree that wasn't enjoyed at all :( I enjoyed the salmon and risotto. I pushed the brussel sprouts to the side. They were hard and tasteless. Perhaps this was a not so good service night, though everyone else at other tables looked happy and satisfied. This restaurant came highly recommended, but I do not believe I need return again. The wine was not good. The pork chop was hard and tasteless. Entree portions were missing for my grandson. The service was below zero. I hope Kin steps it up and works harder to make a good impression for all of their guests. read more

Made reservations for our second anniversary dinner. Carly was our server and she was amazing! Super friendly and engaging but not invasive. Definitely listen to their recommendations, they know what's good! We started off with the Hot Crab Dip, oh man, so good!! I had the NY Steak med and my husband had the short rib, both delicious options, I ate the whole thing! We also ordered a Pinot (sorry, couldn't tell you which one..) and then was offered a dessert on the house for our celebration. Peach Creme Brûlée! I'm not a creme brûlée person but I am a peach person... ya we both ate the whole thing in about 45 seconds! To top it off, they followed the COVID guidelines, all employees wore masks, they blocked out a few parking spots so the tables were outside and far enough apart. They were able to give the atmosphere some character with deck lights and heating lamp fire things. It was still very nice and intimate given the current circumstances we are in now. Yeah you heard me!! Yes sounds crazy, but it made me think of lasagna with a crust.. how ya gonna hate! Crazy delicious and for the birthday dessert was a chocolate cake it was like a lava cake with the whole top covered in toasted marshmallows outstanding I tell you with a glass of champagne my eyes nearly rolled into the back of my head! and our adorable waiter had a candle in it and sang happy birthday he was so sweet I hope he's there this weekend because the odds of me going are fiercely high! I loved everything about this restaurant and they have a small outdoor seating area as well with a pergola. And you're near the Windsor down town there is so many cute stores to shop as well as Powell's Sweet Shoppe just down the street and so many other things to do plus a large park right across the street! My husband's pork chop also salty but not unbearably so. The crab dip appetizer was a goopy cream cheese looking warm concoction that was waved past a crab on the way to the table and contained no discernible crabmeat. After two hours back from the dining experience the salt taste lingers in my mouth and the crab dip has sunk to the bottom of my stomach. The $40 bottle of wine was excellent. We thought they were personal sizes. We ordered the Al fun de pizza and shrimp and bacon pizza. Both were unique and has quality ingredients. But we were stuffed and had to take some pizzas to-go.
