We confirmed with our neighbors about Kin Dee before going there. He raved about the food and we were excited about the prospect as he's Asian (Chinese) and thought the restaurant to be one of his favorites. It's a Thai restaurant with some really good authentic dishes. The pricing is a little higher than most but you are getting food that is high quality and tasty. This is not Bellaire quality ingredients fyi. My wife had a great dish that was yellow curry, subbed the rice for crystal noodles because she's allergic to white rice. They were amazing for service. This is a repeat place for us. read more

Kin Dee - Flower dumplings. We coated ours with hot chili oil and then cut up the Thai pepper to put on each piece. Wow was it hot!!! - Thai Near Me - Houston, Texas

I had gotten my hopes up after noticing other high reviews for this place. Instead of traditional Thai, it's more of a "fusion" style menu. Everything reeked of "trendiness" and more of a focus on food "presentation" than quality and taste. The atmosphere likewise seemed geared more towards trendiness, potential partying, drinking; rather than comfort and good eating. Most importantly the food I ordered tasted terrible, and was over priced. Perhaps this place encapsulates the increasing trendiness of the Heights area in general, but this restaurant would still be far more at home on the Washington Ave. strip surrounded by the rest of the "Jersey Shore" wannabe types. read more

So glad to find this hidden gem! The food is so delicious and made with quality ingredients. We started off with the money bags which I definitely recommend. The northern style curry and the glass noodles w shrimp were packed with flavor! The Thai basil chicken with an egg was also simple yet so delicious. Everything was great, the service was fast, and the restaurant was so beautiful. read more

Really excited for this new Thai place in the Heights! We've only gotten takeout from there so far but everything is delicious. Favorites are the Chicken Wings, Grilled Pork Belly Skewers, Money Bag, Southern Style Green Curry, and Pad See Ew. I will say their spice levels are on the spicy side. I normally order medium spice but the medium here is a bit too spicy for me so I order mild instead. Can't wait to dine in here once the pandemic is over! read more

Loved the atmosphere especially with the live music. The food was so good and the staff was very helpful and kind. The pork belly and Northern Style Curry were so delicious. My husband doesn't really like curry and ate up all my leftovers. I will definitely be back to try more! read more

My experience here has been nothing but phenomenal was being my normal self not wanting to sit by the door and the staff & manager were more than accommodating. My waitress Nikki was very patient with me explaining which drinks and food to try that was popular at the restaurant. The ambiance in here is very classy but casual at the same time, come on! The music playing suits all music genre. They have outdoor seating available with heaters! Definitely a must visit! read more

I have been a customer at Kindee for 2+ years and have been a highly recommended restaurant to family & friends. From food to drinks, however tonight was different. Jason needs to be removed as a manager immediately, unfortunately he doesn't pick his words wisely when he is speaking to customers. He approached my table & I (my party included 2 new guest to Kindee) and asked if we were almost done bc our table was booked for an upcoming reservation. My table seated 4 guest...there was other tables available that could accommodate the party with the reservation w/o a problem. 20 mins later he came back and asked us to leave OR if we could sit outside or at the bar with a free round of drinks on the house. We kindly rejected his offer since we were waiting on our desserts and additional drinks. He tried to excuse himself by saying it's a holiday weekend they are busier than expected however that does not justify his actions. Our tab was easily $400 including tip, regardless of the amount NO PAYING customer should be asked to move SPECIALLY if there are tables available to sit other guest! Sunny, our waitress, was great! She apologized for his behavior and continued make us feel comfortable in the best way she could. Alex & Edwin were also very attentive to our needs! read more

I must say, the presentation and ambiance is there, however the flavor was lacking. The cocktails are tasty and presented well. They have a few vegan and vegetarian options (but no curries). Dumplings are beautiful and tasty Pad thai, again presentation nice but taste very much lacking... Fried rice, mushy, overcooked and lacking all flavor Thai basil tofu - again, very mediocre and not a lot of flavor Sticky rice and mango - ice cream was really good. Sticky rice was lacking flavor/depth and so was the mango We probably won't be back soon with all the other amazing thai restaurants in the area but it was nice to try something new for my husband's bday. read more

Reliable late night flare with a nice bar and sometimes some loud live music. Some reliable food takes on old Thai favs and updates. No joke, they are usually the last Thai-ish place to close their kitchen at night (helpful for late shift folks) and so I try to support them. read more

I was invited to check out this stunning location and I was not let down! Let's start with the service: overall fast and friendly. Our waiter was kind enough to lead us around the menu when we had very little knowledge of Thai food. This type of service is hard to find in Houston so I noted how helpful that was. The cocktails and appetizers were standouts among the menu. Drinks were immersive and original; I'm not calling myself a drink master here but I loved looking at the cocktail menu and saying "what is that? I've never heard of it before". Our entrees were portioned appropriately and served fresh. Managers were constantly walking around and checking on tables; this was a great service point that I feel is missed in most restaurants. Having a manager in sight instead of hiding in the office makes the restaurant look more cohesive and established! And customers trust your service in return! Great move in their part and I hope this never changes as the venue gets older. Last point: they had FREE PARKING which is the most amazing reason of them all to give this place 5 stars. read more

This place is so cute, modern and has an over all romantic/ laid back atmosphere. The service was great on a Monday evening. We had the Pea flower dumplings cause I mean they looked interesting. They were a 3/5..presentation was 5/5, but the taste was on the sweet side and personal preference is savory dumplings. My maine course was the drunken noodles, hubby had boat noodle both were AMAZING!! They come with a spice rack with brown sugar, vinegar, chilli paste, and dry pepper. We will come again and try their drinks. read more

I had seen so many postings about Kin Dee online that I decided I must try it. The purple dumplings were definitely what initially drew me in. I must admit I was hesitant that this would be a overhyped restaurant with Non-authentic cuisine.... however that was not the case. I had the drunken noodles with a Saneh Jan cocktail. The meal was delicious with the perfect amount of spice. Kin Dee knows good Thai food. read more

Love this place - food and service is always great. However, beware of live music nights; it's super fun, but also obnoxiously loud!!! I love live music, but way too loud for such a small place. I asked if there was a way to turn the speakers down and they said no. The wait staff literally had to yell for us to hear them and our person said they lose their voice every night they have live music. Unfortunately, we were not able to have conversations at the table while the musicians played - only during their breaks. read more

The seasoning with the "glass noodle shrimp" dish we had were wonderful! The "money bags" were such a different "flare" - in addition to the purple "veggie infused" pot stickers, nothing to complain about! First step in the door, i was in awe of the interior design. When the food came out the the plating and presentation of the food is top notch. Definitely instagram worthy. However i feel they focus more on looks and execution more than the food itself. While the food is decent i feel its more catered to American taste and style. Its like one of those fancy places where you pay a lot of money for a small portion and leaving still hungry. read more

Kin Dee was a surprise in the best way possible. They offer delicious food, inventive, mouth watering cocktails, friendly service and live music! I tried it on a whim and am so glad I did. The food is among the best Thai I've had in Houston in the most fun environment. Since it was our first visit, we tried our tried and true favorites--Panang Curry and Pad Se Ew. Their versions wowed us. Looking forward to trying dishes I'm less familiar with next time. read more

Two women from Thailand -- one from the north and one from the spicy south -- opened Kin Dee in 2020. The restaurant is in a new two-story retail building. The interior is a modern interpretation of the traditional decor I'm accustomed to seeing in a Thai restsu. It is beautifully done, with a serious bar at the front. Tables are arranged in a socially distant manner. Masks and hand sanitizer are available at the host station. I'm still quarantining, so I ordered takeout, making a mental note to return for the full experience once COVID-19 is not kicking our collective butt. We got pad Thai and a cellophane noodle dish. Both were good, though the pad Thai had more heat than I like. The fish was pad Thai was beautiful, encased in an delicate layer of egg. The cellophane noodles with chicken were a hit. A flavorful sauce gave it its own personality and b by kept it from being dry. I would definitely order it again. read more

Definitely an upscale experience that's elevated from your typical hole in the wall mom and pop Thai place. Perfect for a meet up with friends or even a simple birthday lunch. The atmosphere was stunning & even down to the little details of the flatware & dishes this place is beautiful. The service was great & covid friendly with all employees wearing gloves and masks. Now for the food All for one : a good shareable app to try all of their best. Our favorites were the grilled pork skewers & chicken satay(the peanut sauce & pickled cucumbers paired was the best combo) the grilled Thai meatballs are the same ones you get in a bowl of pho & it was covered in a sweet sauce that was just meh for us. But if you're a sucker for meatballs then you'll love it. The golden baskets & money bags were crispy but relied on the sauce for lots of its flavor. The sweet and sour sauce was homemade and yummy! But the unexpected favorite was the pickles that it came with! A sweet and vinegary side to cut through everything which balanced out the whole dishes (definitely ask for extra and eat with your meal) Overall 6/10. Northern Style Curry: at first taste it's a little salty but adding lime truly cuts through and helps balance it out. Don't skip out on the bone in chicken! It's so juicy and falls straight off the bone so it's not difficult to pick out at all. Noodles had a good chew to them & the crispy ones were a great and stunning addition. Spice is able to be adjusted with this dish. Savory flavors with undertones of crab. Overall 7.5/10 Panang chicken: a spicy & creamy curry with a kick! A simple staple that you can't go wrong with. My boyfriend had this dish and he cleared the whole plate! Pair this dish with the pickles and it's *chefs kiss*!!! Overall 8/10 For the atmosphere, plating, and attention to detail I say the price is pretty fair if not standard for the area. read more

A friend chose this place for dinner. What a great hidden place. The decor is beautiful, almost looks like Christmas came early lol. There is a beautiful mural on the wall when you walk in. Our server was great, very attentive and very knowledgeable about the place. The owners decorated every inch of this place down to the hand painted plates. We tried the flower dumplings, first the presentation was beautiful, second the tasting was paired up with a bite of Thai chili and then a bite of cilantro, very tasty and different. We also had the crab fried rice, the rice was a bit dry and the dish lacked flavor but it was ok. The drunken noodles were good, flavorful and filling. The slow cooked duck breast boodle soup was delicious, I had them with the glass noodles, duck was tasty but also a bit dry. Mango sticky rice for dessert is a must, lightly sweet and delicious, comes with coconut ice cream =). For cocktails you must try the Phuket in the Pineapple!!!!!! SOOOOOO Good!!!! Would definitely return and try some of their other dishes. read more

IF YOU'RE READING THIS AND YOU LOVE PAD THAI - STAY AWAY This place is unbelievably overhyped - I CANNOT state this enough. They have undoubtedly the worst pad Thai I've ever had in my life, and by far. It has the unfortunate scent of low grade dog food and it's watered down to the point of being nearly tasteless. I honestly believe they only wrap it omelette style to cover up the fact that it's so unappealing and to keep the smell of it from penetrating the surrounding air on its way to your table. Service was terrible, as well. Zero water refills during the entire meal. This place's motto should be "Decor over quality" read more

OK, I am just in Houston at an Airbnb for 1 night, totally out of my perimeter. I came in here grump, the reviews were not good, lots of peripheral **** that should not effect the review. Sat at bar. Service was good. Had a Dr. Juice IPA. (I'm from Seattle, so kinda have high expectations on beer. Nothing special on this beer) Had chicken skewers as appetizer. They were pretty solid. The peanut sauce could have been larger quantity, but no complaints. Nkw ordered the Pannang Chicken curry. Having their 'Butterfly -Thai-Margarita. Again, I was grump AF when I can in, but sure 'nuff.. the cocktail is pretty damn good. Holds on for the Pannang curry... OK, Pannang curry chicken was pretty good, maybe 7.5/10. I live in Seattle and Thai food standard is pretty high. This was just fine. So I leave in a better pace than when I came in. Thank you Edit: Oh!! 5/3/22, the duo playing music tonight.. Dangs! You guys were GREAT! Seriously, you are worthy of playing in a legit nightclub. Keep it up. read more

Unreal food. We got the purple dumplings, appetizer sampler, my friend got the pad thai and I got the Panang curry. Purple dumplings were interesting, I was honestly expecting more based on other reviews. They were very nutty flavored, yummy but I probably wouldn't get again. Highly recommend the appetizer sampler, everything was delicious and it was nice being able to try multiple appetizers! The pad thai is a MUST. Probably one of the best pad thai dishes I've ever tried. It's cooked inside a thin egg omelette so you have to cut open the egg to get to the noodles. Unreal. Panang curry was good, but I wish it had a little more spice to it. I will definitely be returning! Make sure to make a reservation; we had to sit outside but I would've loved to be inside to enjoy the live music! read more

I went on a Wednesday night for Ladies Night. I've been to Kin Dee a handful of times before but this night was probably my favorite. I sat at the bar, the bartenders were very kind and attentive throughout the night. The food was superb as per usual (Thai flower dumplings and Panang curry) and the drinks were top notch!
