Absolutely love this spot. Always consistent flavor, beautiful presentation, great customer service and portions are perfect! Their pad thai has a wonderful tamarind flavor savory and comes in a wrapped egg crepe, you cut open and the pad thai noodles are inside, a unique and delicious dish! Glass noodles were fresh and lemon flavor so yummy and light! The Thai dumplings and money bag appetizer are always something to order when I come here! What I order all 10/10 : Thai dumpling flower Money bag Shrimp glass noodles Path Thai chicken Coconut curry chicken Sticky rice mango
Great experience with so many flavors. This was a wonderful foodie experience. The interior is unpretentious and comfortable. The service was a bit slow but the food made up for that. We tried the variety appetizer which was a great way to start the meal and also got a Pannang curry which was superb
I thought this place was pretty good. The money bags appetizer was very flavorful, but it was a bit pricey. In my opinion. I also got the glass noodle dish for Houston restaurant week, which was pretty good as well, but not my favorite to be honest. I think there was an herb in the dish that I did not care for, so there seem to be a bit of an aftertaste for me. I also thought the prices here were pretty high compared to some other Thai places I have been to I really did love the service and atmosphere though! My favorite dish was the mango sticky rice dessert!
Cute little Thai restaurant in a very nice location. We came on a Tuesday for lunch and it was not busy. The waiter Miguel was really nice and attentive. To eat we got the panang curry and pad Thai. Two dishes easily feeds 3 as they are big portions.
We really enjoyed our experience here! We came for Houston Restaurant Week. I got the papaya salad, which I wasn't a big fan of personally, but I think others would enjoy it. It was my first time trying Drunken Noodles, and I was not disappointed! The flavors were on point, though, in terms of spice, I wish it was spicier. I asked for the spiciest they had and it was more mild than anything. The mango sticky rice can with a scoop of coconut ice cream, which was perfect with the sticky rice. And the mango was perfectly ripe, sweet and tart, perfect. I think the coconut ice cream is needed with the rice, without the ice cream, the rice isn't very sweet and doesn't have much of a taste really. I LOVED the decor, the silverware (goldware really lol), and the dishes, absolutely beautiful. Outside of the HRW, their prices are up there, but I'd come back to treat myself for sure!
Kin Dee delivers the kind of dining experience that feels like a warm handshake the moment you walk in...the atmosphere is inviting and comfortable...setting the tone right away...we were greeted by the hostess and seated promptly...which always earns points in my book. Not long after...our waiter came by...introduced himself...and made us feel right at home...we started off with a couple of drinks that were well-made and refreshing...along with a few appetizers that definitely set the stage for what was coming next. For the main course...I ordered the Thai omelet with crab meat...and let me tell you...that dish was a showstopper...packed with flavor...perfectly cooked...and just downright delicious. From start to finish...the entire experience was top-notch...great service...great atmosphere...and even better food...Kin Dee is definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.
Went to Kin Dee for lunch in the heights! Thankfully there's a huge parking lot so you don't have to worry about street parking. I got the pad Thai with chicken and also had a taste of the shrimp tom yum soup. The pad Thai is wrapped in an egg blanket, which is apparently the authentic way. I prefer it where the egg is more cooked and spread throughout the dish though. I felt like the tamarind flavor was a bit lacking here compared to other places, but don't let the size fool you. It's actually pretty heavy since it's compressed to fit inside the egg. The tom yum soup was solid if you love sour flavors
I really love the Kin Dee Thai aesthetic. The space is modern, clean, and just really well designed. The marble tables are a nice touch, and they also have outdoor seating, which would be perfect on a nice day. The atmosphere made it easy to chat and actually enjoy the experience without feeling overwhelmed, which I appreciated. For drinks, I had the lychee martini, and it was really great. It came with a nice garnish (including apple), and the flavor was on point. For food, I had the Kindi fried rice, which I really enjoyed. My friend also ordered a chicken fried rice, and that looked good as well. They do have soy sauce nut you have to ask for it. I do wish I could get fried rice (instead of regular) with one of meat entrees instead of having to get both or choose between but the waiter said that was not allowed. I also tried the mango sticky rice, and unfortunately, that was not my favorite. I did not finish it, and it is not something I would order again. Something about it just did not quite sit for me. Overall, I really liked the space and the vibe. I would definitely go back and try more items on the menu.
Stopped by here for takeout the other day to pick up dinner. Ordering was easy and the food was ready in 15 min or so. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating if eating there though! Everything was so good! Loved the pad thai, among the best I've had. Also loved the Khao soi, the curry was so flavorful! Cashew chicken was good though I might consider something different next time. Highly recommended for Thai food , worth a drive.
Had some lovely thai food at Kin Dee. Started with two appetizers. First were, of course, the Flower Dumplings because just look how beautiful these are of course I'm gonna order it. Had a nice crunchy peanut filling! Second we also had the Chicken Satay which were pretty simple, grilled chicken with a peanut sauce, but good! For my main I chose the Premium Tiger Cry which was a marinated steak that was cooked well, but it came with this unbelievable sauce that like shocked me at how good it was omg. It was called North Eastern Special Sauce which I'm not sure what that means but wow thats divine like I don't think Ive ever tried a flavor like this sauce before. Rice and veggies were good and loved the little container the rice came in. For dessert I had a Thai Tea Creme Brûlée which yes, it is as good as it sounds. Also had a cocktail called this Asia-tini which was a lychee-pear-sake martini, very yum!
Solid Thai food, and prices aren't crazy given inflation and the Heights location, so that was an unexpected surprise. Service is good. I really like that lots of items on the menu had photos, it definitely helps set expectations of what you're actually getting. I got the Northern Style Curry (Khao Soi), which came with a whole chicken quarter. Slightly disappointed with the minimal pickled mustard greens that I LOVE having with my Khao Soi. My girlfriend got the Shrimp Tom Yum, which I thought was a bit watery and didn't have enough sourness to it. Slight smell to the tap water/glass, but that might be Houston ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Server was friendly, and parking was easy. Bonus, they're on InKind, so you can save some money with the offers and Costco giftcards.
Good place to get Thai food, clean and modern spot for any occasion. I think the waiter forgot about me, waited about 10 minutes to finally order. The food was good, not too oily or greasy. Good portion sizes. The egg was smaller than most places I've been. I'd considering coming back and trying their other items.
I hadn't been to Kin Dee in years. I had gone once during Houston Restaurant Week and remember not being all that impressed, but the restaurant sent me a coupon not long ago for $50 off my meal as a returning customer. How could I turn down a free $50? So, I decided to give the restaurant another chance, and I'm glad I did! Parking was easy, although we went earlier in the evening. I know that particular lot to get pretty full pretty quickly. We also made a reservation, so there was no wait at the restaurant. The ambiance was great - more upscale than what I am typically used to for Thai food, and their place settings were beautiful. I did have to ask for a clean glass because mine was dirty, but the wait staff ameliorated that quickly. We ordered several dishes including the drunken noodles, Pad Thai, and Panang curry. Each dish was delicious and beautifully presented! My favorite was the drunken noodles - pad kee mao with a combination of proteins, veggies, and Thai basil. So yummy! The portion sizes were generous and ordering family style was a great way to try several dishes. The price tag is a little hefty for Thai food. Even with my $50 off, I still paid a good amount for the meal. Kin Dee is a great place to visit for good Thai food, but not if you are on a budget!

I cannot recommend this place ENOUGH!!! Probably some of the best Thai food I've ever had. Found a parking spot pretty quickly. We walked in without a reservation but only waited a few minutes to get a table. I got the Thai flower dumpling which were gorgeous and so delicious. I got the drunken noodles which were pretty good. Then for dessert I got the mango sticky rice which was absolutely amazing. read more

Hands down, this was one of the best dinner experiences out at a restaurant I have had in a long time. Part of that is pandemic driven, but I think it can mostly be attributed to the stellar service and quality at Kin Dee. I made a reservation for 3 on a Tuesday night which I initially thought was overkill, but turns out it was a great idea because this place gets very popular, especially on Tuesdays when they have live music and authentic Thai dancing - so beautiful and unique! We were immediately greeted by the general manager who was so nice and struck up a fun conversation with us even after we were seated - they really go the extra mile here to make you feel welcome. To start I ordered the Purple Rain cocktail and Thai Flower Dumplings (how can you not get those beauties?) and for my main the Combo Chicken + Shrimp Pad Thai. Shoutout to the picture menu to help sway my decisions! The Purple Rain cocktail was very pretty and also had a nice light lemon flavor. The Thai Flower Dumplings were excellent - we were told the traditional way to enjoy was to take a bite of the red pepper, followed by a bite of the dumpling, followed by the cilantro. The pepper obviously gave a good kick to wake up your palate while the dumpling was a smooth and nutty finish. Lastly, the Pad Thai earned major points for awesome presentation (what are the physics behind how the noodles get wrapped in an egg omelet that thin?!) plus the Tad Thai flavor was rich. Throughout the evening the service remained spectacular. You can really tell how much love and care goes into this establishment and I cannot wait to come back and try some more of their menu! read more

Came here on a weekday lunch with a friend. Although the restaurant itself and the dishes were beautiful, the portions seemed pretty small for the price, and it didn't taste particularly better than the other Thai places in houston. I'll start by mentioning I've been to Thailand, so I've always found it hard to find good Thai food here that can recreate that experience I've had abroad. Obviously taste and value (aka bang for your buck) are the first things I pay attention to. The ambience and restaurant decorations were super nice. It's a very picturesque spot with beautiful plating and instagrammable tables. They have a parking lot in the back, but it's shared by the other restaurants and stores on the same block so consider carpooling. We ordered the dumpling and money bag appetizers, the panang curry, and the drunken noodles. I can tell the ingredients they use are high quality, so that does explain the price hike. However, I was a little disappointed by the small portion sizes. Usually when we order at other Thai restaurants, what we ordered could probably be split between two people and leave them full with maybe some leftovers. I feel like the portions we had here were distinctively "lunch portions" but without the lower price. We were still hungry after eating. :( Also, I felt like the flavor wasn't anything astounding. We had to ask for extra sambal and chili fish sauce to add ourselves. I do wish they had more lunch curry options other than one type, too. We finished with the mango sticky rice, which was beautifully presented and had good flavor, but the rice wasn't sticky/glutinous and there wasn't a lot of coconut milk. They used ice cream instead, which was nice but not quite what I wanted in this particular dish. Overall, it's a beautiful spot that uses high quality ingredients, but I was a little off-put by the high prices with small portions, and the flavors weren't anything spectacular. The owner and servers seemed really nice though, so I would like to come back and try their noodle soups when the weather is colder and give it another chance. read more

Found this place through Eater Houston. Beautiful atmosphere! All the dinnerware was blue and white ceramics and the silverware were elongated and gold. It was gorgeous. Our server was very friendly. We ordered Thai Flower Dumplings vegan style and Kin Dee Fried Rice vegan style with tofu. Flower Dumplings 9/10. Kin Dee Fried Rice vegan style 7/10 At first our fried rice came cold, but we were able to get a new one no charge. Sooooo, the reason the flower dumplings are 9/10 was because the flavor (they were really sweet). I like sweet things and savory foods combined, but it could've used more umami in my opinion. It was dense and delicious though with peanuts inside. The Kin Dee Fried Rice in my opinion could have had more flavors and I do blame myself for not ordering without any spice. It was like any other fried rice in my opinion however I really liked the atmosphere. I would definitely have a party here and come back again! read more

Came here to celebrate my friends birthday! They have a happy hour menu with lots of appetizers and drinks!! If you like sour and spicy, this is the spot for you! We ordered the all in one sampler apps, chicken wings, flower dumplings and glass noodle salad. We got mild spicy and ouuuf lemme tell you, it is spicy but it hits the spot just right!! Service was great and they were well staffed. They also had live performers! Will definitely come back for entrees since we didn't have room after all the HH apps!!! read more

The menu is small for a reason, they perfect their dishes. Each I tried was amazing and highly suggest the Thai flower dumplings. You add the spice and cilantro. Drunken noodles were delicious but obsessed with the Pad Woon Sen or stir fried glass noodles. Asked for spice sides and didn't even need to use. Only complaint is their cocktails. I asked our server if the one I was interested in was sweet and she said no. It was delicious but soooo sweet. She stopped over and saw I was not drinking it and inquired. I mentioned it was just too sweet and she said it was because of the red wine (oxymoron from the previous comment). She asked me if I wanted something different, which I appreciated but declined because more than halfway through the meal. I normally would be "oh I made a bad call on a drink", but i did confirm prior to ordering that it was not sweet. In the end $14 was added to my tab . Sure others would enjoy the drink, just wish she would have taken 30 seconds to ask the bar tender if she didn't know the drink herself. read more
We had a great time here. Earth was our server and he was so nice! He directed us to try the Khan Tok and it was so fun! The presentation was great and everything was so tasty! It was a nice sampler so we know what to get next time because we will definitely be back. The Thai flowers were beautiful and tasty. Definitely eat it with the pepper and cilantro. There was a woman singing and she was phenomenal. When we walked in my husband thought it was just music and I told him it was a live singer, he didn't believe me till he saw her. Great atmosphere, fun, a little on the loud side but already thinking who I want to take back! read more

I was really hoping the food would have been as tantalizing as the atmosphere, but I was disappointed. Atmosphere and service 5/5. They had a live singer. She was really good. Would have been cool if she sang Thai songs but she had a wonderful voice and sang American songs. Food is what I came for, but it just didn't hit the mark for me personally. The best thing we had on the menu was the Thai flower dumplings but definitely overpriced as everything else on the menu. I get it; it's the heights so it's expected to be high priced but I expected better quality too. Just wished the food lived up to its hype. No authenticity at all. Would have been nice if they invested as much in the development of the quality of the food on the menu as they did on the decoration and china. Here's what we ordered: Appetizers: All in one: 3/5 Kin Dee chicken wings: 3/5 Thai flower dumplings: 4/5 Entrees: Pad see ew with chicken and pork 3/5 Duck breast noodle soup 3/5 Boat noodle soup 1/5 Thai omelet: 0/5 DO NOT get this, dry, no taste, over cooked, over priced! Drunken noodles with pork and shrimp 3/5 just wish It had more noodles Dessert: Mango sticky rice 3/5 Cocktail: Melonic 4/5 read more

Last night's dining out adventure took me to the Heights again. (Everything north of I-10 and west of 45 inside the loop is now apparently the Heights). Kin Dee is a cozy, stylish restaurant inside a new development on N. Shepherd. I liked the atmosphere and great service. Very welcoming staff. I began with a Tom Yum cocktail with gin, lemongrass, lime juice, chili and Kefir lime leaf. Mildly spicy and refreshing. (I started drinking before I remembered to snap a pic...traffic...construction...). They had lots of interesting specialty cocktails, but I stopped at one. My first course was their flower dumplings (Chor muong). Butterfly bean flower paste makes them purple. The dumplings are very slightly sweet, but filled with a peanut and pork mixture. A tiny bit of Thai pepper with each bite rounds out the flavors. Chicken satay is a dish that I ordered for old time's sake and was the only disappointment. Chicken was too thick to properly absorb the marinade, so a touch dry. Peanut sauce was homemade and tasty, though. Pad Thai was served in a thin Thai omelette and boy was it tasty. Best I've had in a long time. I was too full for dessert, but the ice cream being served around me made me regret it. read more

Bottom line: A lively atmosphere and good service make this good-but-slightly-"Americanized" Thai spot an enjoyable place to eat. We came for dinner on a Saturday with a small group of friends, and were seated promptly on the patio. There's a medium-sized parking lot that the restaurant shares with its fellow strip mall occupants, and neighborhood street parking if that falls through. Service was attentive for the entire dinner, and the food came out promptly and was hot. The live DJ (maybe just a Saturday night thing?) was surprising but fun. To start, we had the Thai Papaya Salad (4 out of 5 -- salad with fresh ingredients, just a bit plain) and the All in One plate (4.5 out of 5 -- the "moneybags" were especially good), then got Pad See Ew (4.5 out of 5 -- very generous portions of protein) and Crispy Omelet with Crab (4 out of 5 -- good texture and a creative dish, just slightly plain). Overall, portion sizes were great and the food quality was solid, the dishes were maybe just slightly lacking that authentic Thai flavor / spice that you can find at some other places around town (including down the road at Street Food Thai). We'll probably be back, but not before checking out some other places first. read more

Hi Alisha,…
This Thai restaurant is pretty legit! The food is delicious?l, flavorful, and the modern ambiance makes it suitable place for a gathering or even a cute date night. Their Thai tea is pretty solid, a good balance between creamy and sweet. Their menu consists of a good balance between noodles, rice, and ramen; which is not typically found in Thai restaurants. Their drink menu consists of colorful and fun drinks and also have interesting appetizers if your in the mood to experiment and test your pallete! read more

Notes from my dinning partner throughout dinner: nice iced tea, wow spicy, yum, I like this fork, this is big The beautiful utensils deserve a mention. They are perfection so chic. The interior is beautiful and was bustling for our lunch. Thai flower dumplings are so tasty! Almost like a sweet and savory shu mi. The mix of textures was perfect and I loved the touch of chile. I ate the whole thing and my mouth was on fire in a pleasant way. My drunken noodles were fantastic and the noodles chewy and fresh with tons of veggies and goodies. I ordered medium hot and it was spicy!! I'm into that but if you aren't beware. My husband had a curry and it was also super flavorful. Giant portions. My favorite new spot in this side of town. Parking In the back. Dog friendly patio.Butterfly Pea Flower Dumplings read more

When the owners/operators come to your table and ask if you are having a good time, you know they give a 'you know what' about the place. This was some of the most authentic tastes of Thailand. Having Vegan/Vegetarian options on the menu makes this place a winner. If I were to make one recommendation - definitely go lower than your threshold on the spice levels for your first time. read more

My husband and I dropped in on a Wed night for dinner. We had had food from Kin Dee at a festival and for takeout, but this was our first time to eat in the restaurant. The ambience was perfect - Asian/ trendy modern. Tables were mostly full with a nice buzz, but a few tables still available for walk ins. Cocktails were excellent - I especially liked the gin-based Tom Yum with kaffir lime leaves. Flower dumplings were gorgeous and tasty! Pad see ew was delicious - more strongly flavored than you normally get. Northern curry also good though a little heavier on the shrimp paste than I prefer. Service was prompt and non obtrusive. Overall we were super impressed, and will be back!! read more

"The best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand." That was my husband's first reaction as we were leaving Kin Dee after Happy Hour. They have Happy Hour on week days from 5-6:30, cocktails were $10, apps were $8 and a selection of mains were $13. Not a huge difference from the regular menu prices, so I'd come back whether it's Happy Hour or not. We started with the Tom Yum cocktail- these were great! They had a kick to them, so if you don't like spicy things then i'd choose something else. We had the Golden Baskets appetizer- basically chicken and mixed vegetables in a little fried basket. They give you a sweet and sour sauce to drizzle over the top. These were good, but I'd try something else next time just for the variety. For our mains we both got the Panang Curry. Mine with chicken, his with the combo. This was the star of the show for us! It wasn't very spicy, but they do offer some chili oil to drizzle on top. Even though it lacked spice, the other flavors were out of this world. It's a good sized portion- enough that we were both full, but not totally miserable. The location of Kin Dee is also great... we started the afternoon with cocktails at Heights Bier Garten and then walked over here for dinner. We'll be back! read more

Delicious! Highly recommend. Our waitress was OJ. She was very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. For appetizers we had the money bags and flower dumplings. Both were flavorful. For my meal I had the stir fired glass noodles. It was so amazing. I would order it again. Our table of four was very satisfied with the menu and pleased. We will be back. Great restaurant. The vibes were great especially on the patio. As the sun started going down they had live music while you at. Check it out! read more
This place has no right to be THIS GOOD!!! Literally insane and knocked my socks off. ALSO immigrant WOC owned and we love to see it! Right when we entered, I was mesmerized by how gorgeous the interior is. It's so vibrant and colorful, very trendy and fun but mixed with some Thai elements. Really fun place to be and they had live music! The cocktails were DELICIOUS. I highly recommend the Sabai if you want something refreshing or like mojito/caipirinha esque drinks. We loved everything we got, but notable mentions are for sure the Thai Flower Dumplings. It's not like anything I've tried before - the filling is very peanutty yet meaty, and eating each with a sprig of cilantro and a bit of birds eye chili is *chef's kiss*. The presentation is also beautiful!! I also loved my entree, the crab omelet. Again not anything I've tried before - it was so crispy and PACKED with crab meat. Everyone who worked there was so nice, and I really admired the chef/owner (I believe it was her) not only going table to table to check on everyone's experience, but also helping her staff rearrange chairs and clean up. She seemed very humble and to really care about her team and restaurant, and I really respect that. 10000000/10 experience. Can't recommend enough for a date night or happy hour (honestly I'd go back just for the drinks and like 8 plates of those dumplings). read more

LOVED this place. The service was AMAZING. Everyone was so tentative and courteous and helped me narrow down what food to try on the menu. I had a tea that changes colors at the squeeze of a lime. I started with the chicken wings which were really really good. Crunchy and flavorful. The wings are huge, I'm not a fan of big chicken wings but they were delicious. The star of the show was the Shrimp Tom Yum Soup, i got mine with rice instead of noodles and the highest spice. This soup here.....WOW. Soooooo delicious. The flavor was amazing. Visited Kin Dee Thai Cuisine which opened in the Heights in May, 2020, during the pandemic. The restaurant is stylish and chic, with plush high and low top tables. The owners are two women, longtime friends from Thailand. One from the North, chef Miranda Loetkhamfu, and Lukkaew Srasrisuwan from the South. There desire is to bring authentic Thai food to Houston! Kin Dee means "eat well" in Thai. You will enjoy traditional regional and royal recipes such as the Thai flower dumpling, a handcrafted flower shaped dumpling made from Butterfly Pea Flower Herb (Chor Muang). Check out the pics and you will see the quality and detail in their presentation. We tried the spicy salmon, Thai omelet with crab meat, pad thai, panang curry and mango sticky rice. Next time I'm going to try lump crab meat fried rice! For those cautious about dining, indoors, they also offer outdoor seating. This gem is definitely worth your time. It's a very cute and friendly environment with live music and nice waiters. The service was good with each round of food coming out perfectly after we finished the previous dish. From the meat to the seafood to the noodles, everything was nothing short of delicious. There was a pop of flavor in every dish whether it was spicy, sweet, sour, or savory. The flavors blended together so well and each bite was it's own splendid moment. The only thing holding a 5 star back is the disappointing entrees, after the great appetizers we were expecting some out of the roof main course but instead we got a mediocre meal. However that doesn't take away the fact that this restaurant is an amazing hang out spot to get some small bites and a drink. read more

3 stars mainly cause Thai food wasn't very authentic, a bit americanized and overpriced. Came by for a friend's birthday. Loved the ambience of the restaurant, modern and chic. They had a live singer who sang a wide range of songs from classics to pop, great voice, would come back for him. Service was 10/10, very attentive. Ordered the drunken noodles and panang curry. Are they pets friendly?
Although they love our Fur babies. Pets are not allowed inside the restaurant.
Are they family/kid friendly? Or more of a date/HH spot?
More date/HH; but there is a front or back patio which might be more conducive for families.
Do they have vegan options or offer tofu? I didn't see tofu as an option on their menu.
Yes
Do they have happy hour?
Yes, wasn't super impressed with the HH. Good food, but would choose Thai Gourmet any day over it.
