Kin Dee delivers the kind of dining experience that feels like a warm handshake the moment you walk in...the atmosphere is inviting and comfortable...setting the tone right away...we were greeted by the hostess and seated promptly...which always earns points in my book. Not long after...our waiter came by...introduced himself...and made us feel right at home...we started off with a couple of drinks that were well-made and refreshing...along with a few appetizers that definitely set the stage for what was coming next. For the main course...I ordered the Thai omelet with crab meat...and let me tell you...that dish was a showstopper...packed with flavor...perfectly cooked...and just downright delicious. From start to finish...the entire experience was top-notch...great service...great atmosphere...and even better food...Kin Dee is definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.

I really love the Kin Dee Thai aesthetic. The space is modern, clean, and just really well designed. The marble tables are a nice touch, and they also have outdoor seating, which would be perfect on a nice day. The atmosphere made it easy to chat and actually enjoy the experience without feeling overwhelmed, which I appreciated. For drinks, I had the lychee martini, and it was really great. It came with a nice garnish (including apple), and the flavor was on point. For food, I had the Kindi fried rice, which I really enjoyed. My friend also ordered a chicken fried rice, and that looked good as well. They do have soy sauce nut you have to ask for it. I do wish I could get fried rice (instead of regular) with one of meat entrees instead of having to get both or choose between but the waiter said that was not allowed. I also tried the mango sticky rice, and unfortunately, that was not my favorite. I did not finish it, and it is not something I would order again. Something about it just did not quite sit for me. Overall, I really liked the space and the vibe. I would definitely go back and try more items on the menu.

Stopped by here for takeout the other day to pick up dinner. Ordering was easy and the food was ready in 15 min or so. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating if eating there though! Everything was so good! Loved the pad thai, among the best I've had. Also loved the Khao soi, the curry was so flavorful! Cashew chicken was good though I might consider something different next time. Highly recommended for Thai food , worth a drive.

This is such a great restaurant for a date night or girls night! The vibes are super cute and the chairs are comfortable. My husband always orders the northern style curry with bone-in chicken, and it is truly one of the best dishes we have tried in Houston. I usually get the panang curry with tofu and it's always delicious and well-seasoned. The purple flower dumplings are iconic and a must-try. We got a few different cocktails the most recent time we went, and they were all well-balanced, but not very strong. Service is always attentive and helpful as well.

Had some lovely thai food at Kin Dee. Started with two appetizers. First were, of course, the Flower Dumplings because just look how beautiful these are of course I'm gonna order it. Had a nice crunchy peanut filling! Second we also had the Chicken Satay which were pretty simple, grilled chicken with a peanut sauce, but good! For my main I chose the Premium Tiger Cry which was a marinated steak that was cooked well, but it came with this unbelievable sauce that like shocked me at how good it was omg. It was called North Eastern Special Sauce which I'm not sure what that means but wow thats divine like I don't think Ive ever tried a flavor like this sauce before. Rice and veggies were good and loved the little container the rice came in. For dessert I had a Thai Tea Creme Brûlée which yes, it is as good as it sounds. Also had a cocktail called this Asia-tini which was a lychee-pear-sake martini, very yum!

Visiting Houston and decided to stop by for some Thai food. Great food and amazing service! Definitely will come back.

My friends and i came here for thai and were not disappointed! We started with hot tea (not pictured) which was a combination of green teas. Was very good blend but the cup to drink from was very small, about the size of a shot glass. We then got the flower dumplings which were sooo yummy. Basically pad thai in dumpling form. I got the pineapple fried rice which was interesting but very good. Had raisins in it which is not what i was expecting! And also came in this large pineapple bowl lol. Overall everyone from service staff was very nice but around 8:30 they started taking away all our silverware (the bus workers) when one of my friends was still eating. They close at 10.

Solid Thai food, and prices aren't crazy given inflation and the Heights location, so that was an unexpected surprise. Service is good. I really like that lots of items on the menu had photos, it definitely helps set expectations of what you're actually getting. I got the Northern Style Curry (Khao Soi), which came with a whole chicken quarter. Slightly disappointed with the minimal pickled mustard greens that I LOVE having with my Khao Soi. My girlfriend got the Shrimp Tom Yum, which I thought was a bit watery and didn't have enough sourness to it. Slight smell to the tap water/glass, but that might be Houston ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Server was friendly, and parking was easy. Bonus, they're on InKind, so you can save some money with the offers and Costco giftcards.

Good place to get Thai food, clean and modern spot for any occasion. I think the waiter forgot about me, waited about 10 minutes to finally order. The food was good, not too oily or greasy. Good portion sizes. The egg was smaller than most places I've been. I'd considering coming back and trying their other items.

I hadn't been to Kin Dee in years. I had gone once during Houston Restaurant Week and remember not being all that impressed, but the restaurant sent me a coupon not long ago for $50 off my meal as a returning customer. How could I turn down a free $50? So, I decided to give the restaurant another chance, and I'm glad I did! Parking was easy, although we went earlier in the evening. I know that particular lot to get pretty full pretty quickly. We also made a reservation, so there was no wait at the restaurant. The ambiance was great - more upscale than what I am typically used to for Thai food, and their place settings were beautiful. I did have to ask for a clean glass because mine was dirty, but the wait staff ameliorated that quickly. We ordered several dishes including the drunken noodles, Pad Thai, and Panang curry. Each dish was delicious and beautifully presented! My favorite was the drunken noodles - pad kee mao with a combination of proteins, veggies, and Thai basil. So yummy! The portion sizes were generous and ordering family style was a great way to try several dishes. The price tag is a little hefty for Thai food. Even with my $50 off, I still paid a good amount for the meal. Kin Dee is a great place to visit for good Thai food, but not if you are on a budget!

My friend was visiting from out of town and she wanted to eat Thai food. I told her we should come here because the first time I came the experience was amazing. This time we had an amazing experience as well, our server Brittany was outstanding very helpful with the menu, and her service was excellent. Food and drinks never disappoint here, we started with the flower dumplings because this is the signature appetizer and they were delicious and so beautiful to look at, I got the drunken noodles and she got fried rice. We both were extremely happy with our choices and she also got a drink, and she was very happy with it because not only the service is fast they make it right every time. They have a patio there was a lot of people on the patio because we had very nice weather last night, but they also have indoor seating in a bar, I also saw that they have ladies Wednesday, from 5 PM until closing time or cocktails are half off. Definitely I will come back with my girls here.

Tiger Cry and Thai Basil Chicken

Kind of sad I can't give it a full 5 stars because when I came here back in 2021, I was blown away by the food, service, and atmosphere. I came in for a solo dinner, and my order was taken within a few minutes. The food came out fast, which I appreciated. I got the Tiger Cry and the stir-fried Thai basil chicken with a fried egg. The Thai basil chicken was stellar, and made for great leftovers the next day. The Tiger Cry was just okay for me; not very flavorful, and with so many other standouts on the menu, I probably wouldn't reorder it. I'd still give the food 5 stars. The service, though, just wasn't what I remembered. No one checked on me during my meal, and after I finished eating, I had to flag someone down for both a to-go box and the check. It all just felt a little indifferent, which was disappointing after such a great first impression in 2021.

Came back with a friend for an early dinner. I got their Thai Tea & Pad See Ew (Medium spicy). The medium was perfect for me. The food came out really hot & fresh. This plate was big enough to share. But I ate half and took the rest home and ate that for lunch the next day. The service was still amazing. They were very attentive and patient with us. It wasn't crowded when we arrived at 3 so we really enjoyed our time there. The food and drinks were good. I would always recommend people to check this place out!

Ask the Community - Kin Dee

Is the restaurant Kid friendly?

I doubt the menu fits the palette of most kids

Can I make reservations and special orders?

Yes

Are they pets friendly?

Although they love our Fur babies. Pets are not allowed inside the restaurant.

Are they family/kid friendly? Or more of a date/HH spot?

More date/HH; but there is a front or back patio which might be more conducive for families.

Do they have vegan options or offer tofu? I didn't see tofu as an option on their menu.

Yes

Do they have happy hour?

Yes, wasn't super impressed with the HH. Good food, but would choose Thai Gourmet any day over it.

Food was decent, definitely a fun spot for a casual night out prior to checking out all the bars on the same street Not So Good: - $20 for parking is a bit of a turnoff. Most restaurants, especially on busy streets, still offer complimentary parking or validation. This felt a little out of place. - Automatic 20% gratuity for a table of two was unexpected, especially given that service wasn't particularly great. I usually tip 20% anyway, but it's worth mentioning, especially for those who might not catch it and end up double tipping (like I have in the past). I would like to preface, this isn't a cheap quick dinner restaurant but I highly recommend coming at least once. We found it on the Michelin guide. I love the inside of the restaurant, the layout is fun and intimate. *grilled oysters were good. The flavor from the n'duja with the bits of pecan was something I would never think to pair. Great start! * elk tartare was surprisingly amazing. I always find tartare to be a tough dish to make outstanding and with elk I was hesitant to try but happy we tried it. The plate was cleaned by the time we finished. The cracker was light and paired well with it. * maitake mushrooms were so good that we had to split it evenly so no one got an unfair amount lol The sauce is like a coffee/caramel/chocolately savory sauce. Mt description doesn't do it justice. It's umami but has a caramelized feel. Just get it! * pork chop was the best pork chop we've had. We typically order steak over pork chops at restaurants but heard great things. Tender and flavorful. I will say it's a very rich dish so be mindful of that but highly recommended * grits, this was the dark horse. It was our favorite tapa. We laugh bc we didn't think grits would be the fav, out of all the amazing dishes. But the beef cheek underneath the silky grits... YUM! I'll be craving them *basque cheesecake was good but not the best we've had. But it's also hard to compete with all the other dishes we had

We love elevated tapas style restaurants so we had to see what it was all about! Unfortunately, the food just didn't wow me at all. It was fine, but fine doesn't cut it for this price. Food: - Duck Liver: 6/10 I LOVE pate so this one was extra disappointing. They pureed it so much that it lost all texture and was like a butter. If that was the only thing off, it would be fine. But the other flavors in there just didn't work for me. The sweetness and oiliness that they added were too overpowering that I could hardly taste the liver itself. The bread was great though. - Elk Tartare: 10/10 I'm not the biggest fan of tartare but this was the best tartare I've ever had and the best dish of the night! The sunflower cracker was amazing; it gave a nice toasty nutty flavor that contrasted with the yuzu underneath. I love all the different textures going on in this dish, which is why I like it better than other tartares which tend to be only chewy/slimy/wet. - Maitake: 8/10 Cooked really nicely. Perfectly crisp and flaky. Just a little too sour for me. - Okra: 7/10 The Gouda sauce was interesting but the okra itself was nothing special. It was nicely roasted and charred. - Pork chop: 6/10 As the main dish of the night, this was quite disappointing. No interesting flavors whatsoever. You can't really taste the chamomile dusting unless you lick it directly. The jowl that they spread on top didn't taste like anything distinct. In fact, I didn't like the texture of it because it was crunchy in a way that felt like I was crunching through little bits of tiny bone... - Basque cheesecake: 9/10 The dessert rounded out the evening nicely. Solid cheesecake. No complaints. Service: Honestly too "attentive" to the point that it was annoying and disruptive. They would interrupt us every 10 minutes it felt like. And the food came out pretty slowly.
