Stopped by on lunch yesterday. I was tempted to grab one of everything, and I did end up with more than I planned. I opted for the Chicken curry koroke and Red bean whipped cream bread for my lunch. They were both very good, I could eat the Red bean whipped cream everyday. The chicken Curry Koroke made for a great lunch, and something different and better than fast food. I also grabbed a loaf of their pumpkin bread - YUM! It has pieces of pumpkin in the bread. Great for a snack or for dessert. I also had the White bean paste pastry and a Sweet rice donut. I personally did not care for the white bean paste, I have not had it that I know of and now I know that I will opt from having it again, the sweet rice donut was good. A neat little store tucked into the strip mall going wet on Olive, right after crossing over 141. The staff I interacted with were helpful and nice. My favorite was the red bean and whipped cream pastry. But there were many more items to explore here. I heard really good things about this bakery, so I visited for the first time this year and then returned for more pastries because even though the inside is unassuming, the pastries speak for themselves. I would describe this place as mostly grab and go, as there's only one 2-person table. You get a basket and place whatever pastries you want in it. The pastries are wrapped in plastic so they're easy to transport. From custard buns, melon pan, cream-filled buns, cookies, "French Toast", matcha roll cakes and more, this will easily become one of your favorite bakeries like it is for many others. They are always consistent! I love coming into the bakery and I love grabbing this hot dog bun! The staff is always nice! There's a few seats in the front if you want to stay and eat. But it's good to go! They have a large selection of sweet and savory pastries! Also lots of loaves and cookies. I also love getting their cakes because they aren't too sweet and decently priced! I would recommend calling them ahead of time (maybe 2-3 days beforehand) for cakes! I have walked in and just picked up a cake before, but the options may be limited depending on the day! read more

I came here twice lately. Second time was ordering a cake for my son's graduation celebration. I ordered the fruity layered cake. Oh my goodness, it was so delicious! Everything here is amazing. I love the red bean and custard pastries, the coffee buns, the melon bread and the cream puffs.

If you've never been to Kim's bakery, I can safely say you're missing out. I stopped by on a Sunday morning just to browse and ended up getting a kimchi beef koroke, a curry chicken koroke, a custard bread, and one of their ham sandwiches. My family will get the sandwich bread (ask them to slice it for you if it's cold), which we also really enjoy. There's some seating outside but not really inside. Staff are very friendly and nice as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone in the area-- they are stocked differently depending on the day but I especially love all their bread items. Kim's bakery is a breath of fresh air and truly a treat compared to the sea of mediocre shops offering generic vanilla or chocolate cake. The storefront is bright, open, and stocked with plenty of hand crafted baked goods. I picked up a match roll, melon bread, red bean and cream bread, chicken curry korokke, and rice donuts(not pictured as they were eaten on the way home), the staff is friendly and food is amazing. I'm not normally a person who frequents bakeries, as most bakeries make things too sweet and options are limited, while there's plenty of sweets to be had at Kim's, they have an offering of plenty of savory and not too sweet options here which are far more appealing for my palate. This is a place I go to often in for years to get the custard fill bread. The bread has the right amount of sweetness to them. I discovered Kim's Bakery and was happily surprised when I saw freshly baked bread sliced into loaves for a customer. Making my way down the aisle, I noticed they had a classic an-pan (sweet bun, as it's called in Japan, filled with anko). I turned to my right and saw a sign hanging up stating, "No preservatives" music to my ears! I gobbled down the an-pan that was pleasantly sweeter than I expected. I needed to get something to eat before donating blood. I stopped into Kim's Bakery because it is next to the Red Cross Donation Center on Olive Blvd. I expected a traditional bakery, and was hoping that they had donuts. Kim's Bakery has many pastries that I am not familiar with, but looked tasty. All of the pastries are individually wrapped and clearly identified. The bakery has a great set up with Covid precautions in place. A variety of pastries, cookies and rolls, can easily be selected and placed in a shopping basket that they have available, a quick checkout, keeping counter time at a minimum. I took a gamble and purchased a Fist Roll. I would describe it as a dense bread pudding like roll with nuts and dried fruit. It was delicious! Purchased: * Buttercream bread * Almond tart * Chocolate chip cookies (forgot the actual name of them, but they're right in front of the register) * marble cake Buttercream bread -- tasted like it was freshly made, not too much buttercream, not too little. I took a bite and gave some to my boyfriend. By the time I turned around for another bite, his face was covered with buttercream and he looked like he got caught trying to eat the rest by himself. I think it's safe to say he loved it! Almond tart -- The crust looked hard, but it was so easy to chew into it was almost like bread. So good!! Marble cake -- I have yet to try it still (will update) Chocolate chip cookies -- we went "cheers" in the car as soon as we rang out to try it at the same time and it was so good!! Very soft, crumbled in your mouth, and then melted. As a person who isn't a fan of too much chocolate, I appreciated the small bits not overwhelming me. I contemplated going back in to buy more, but they will just have me come back for more even though I live closer to the city. All in all, it was definitely worth the drive back! I have never been to a Korean bakery before. Wasn't sure what to expect. I tried the hotdog pizza for the novelty. It was so unexpectedly delicious that I can't wait to go back. I convinced my husband to try a bite and he was sold. I also got a bun with cream cheese, thinking it would be like a bagel. It wasn't, the bun was so soft and fluffy, slightly sweet. I loved it. I stopped by to pick up some items before heading back down to Saint Roberts area. I had high expectations after checking their website out. I was disappointed that they did not have fresh fruit tarts. I was looking forward to trying them, but they did not have them. If you need a Korean fix, the area of Chesterfield on Olive is the way to go. There are several grocery stores, restaurants, and then this bakery. I honestly don't know how authentic this bakery is, but there is a mix of Korean bakery items, more "Americanized items, and other random Asian desserts. But nonetheless, it's cute and delicious. First and foremost, I LOVE the creme puffs from here. They are not as sweet as what you thing a creme puff is in bite sizes. You can get a package of 10 and bring it to the Korean restaurants! They have mocha cakes, lots of sponge cakes in a variety of flavors, and general cakes. And if you want to get someone a gift who loves playing pokemon go, this is where you get your pokemon theme cookies. They also have Hello-Kitty cakes. French toast, thick homemade toast with a nice crunchy outer crust. Azuki bread, brioche like bread with sweet red beans woven into the bread. Items I did NOT like-- cheese chiffon, dry crumby bread that will make you cough as it sucks up all the moisture in your mouth. Cookies, bland baked dough in varying shapes. Green tea bread, overly sweet filling in bread. Whip cream and azuki bread, again, overly sweet filling with extra sweet whip cream. Pineapple coconut bread, filling with inharmonious flavors. I was surprised to see a korean bakery in St. Louis burbs to start off with... this place may be small but have a lot more different types of baked goods than other k bakeries even in Chicago. Although I think Atlanta has the biggest ones I have seen and I know LA has more in number. We lived in Tacoma area and this place reminded me of bakery in federal way. There's just so much to choose from but fortunately, the price is more reasonable than Chicago or Tacoma. I really liked the French toast (crispy and sweet outer, soft interior), the kimchee inside the fried dough (kimchee koroke) was ok... kimchee was too shredded, the hotdog cheese bread is alright. I usually prefer the black sesame mochi bread bec it's not too sweet and it's healthy. I also love chewy mochi texture. The shortbread with half chocolate checker is good too(not too sweet). They have many options at just $1.99-$2.99 a piece, the hardest part is not buying all of them! You can really tell the craftsmanship that goes into these cakes and breads with the attention to details. Chicken Curry Bun: This is one of their salty foods, and it was almost perfection. It has a crust that is crunchy and a oozing curry center. Me and my friend both went back and got another one. You HAVE to try these, in terms of curry buns, there is literally nothing better, which is why I choose to review it first. Korean Classic Cake: This cake is beautiful and you are able to customize it to any extent. My friend who hates cake will only eat this one. The only problem with bakeries are that everything looks so good and you want to try everything but you can't :( Fortunately I struck gold in at least one of the things that I bought. I don't know what it's called unfortunately but it's a round cake with almonds sprinkled on top. It's a beautiful crispy outside with crunchy almonds and a soft inside with a not too sweet cream. Perfect balance of soft hard sweet taste! Definitely recommending that one. The others were good too but didn't stand out as much as that one. This place is very fresh using high quality ingredients. Unfortunately the pricing is probably on the tad expensive side; I'm not too sure about bakery pricing in general but it just seemed maybe a bit expensive. I stopped by to buy two cakes. At the moment I'm cake shopping for an event in the next three months. I picked up a slice of white cake with fruit on it and a slice of Japanese style sponge cake. Normally I am anti whipped cream on cakes, due to a birthday cake from Sams when I was eleven being dry as hell. But. This cake made me change my mind. Not all whipped cream cakes are bad. Still, the winner for my future event is the cheesecake one. It has a nice fluff to it and a depth of flavor. If I remember right in Japan they steam their cheesecakes.
